Mountain man sports is hands down the best place in the Midwest for all outdoor sports. From gear to equipment they carry only the highest quality merchandise. I’ve traveled across the country and have yet to find a shop that compares to the experience at mountain man. Very knowledgeable staff ready to answer any questions you may have. Spending money on ski gear can sometimes be intimidating and pricey but the mountain man staff makes sure you find the right gear to fit your needs.

I recently received a new bike as a gift that was purchased online. I assembled the bike to the best of my limited mechanical abilities, and wanted to make sure all was right before I set off across the pot-hole ridden streets of Toledo. I called 4 or 5 of the most commonly known bike shops in Toledo and was quoted anywhere from $75.00 - $100.00 to check that I had assembled it properly. The bike only cost $229.00.I finally called Mountain Man and was told that if there was no major bench time, that it would be free. The owner took the bike in the back and after about 10 minutes brought it back to me. All was well except that I missed two bolts that kept the handle bars from dropping down.The owner then gave me some riding tips...been about 20 years since I have been on a bike. Pointed out some safety gear and accessories that might come in handy....all for free!Guess where I am purchasing all my new toys for my bike, and am taking my other halfs bike for a complete overhaul.To the other bike shops...it is called customer service, and investing in future business for 10 minutes of your time....morons.

Everyone here is awesome. They helped me buy my first snowboard and boots and they answered all of my questions. If you have a question, just ask and they will do everything they can to help you.

Great store with extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff! My husband and I knew minimal about restoring our old bikes before coming here. They helped us get all the supplies we needed and showed us what would need to be done to get our bikes back up and running. The co-owner Adam was fantastic about teaching us anything we didn’t know and even helped us on later dates when we had questions after getting into our project. Would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for anything outdoor related!

If you buy something here make sure you really like it, want it, and make sure it fits, they do NOT except any returns. They are also shady about it as well, they will tell you they wont return something because there are no tags, but they are the ones that take the tags off your item.

Some people that work here are extremely helpful and nice! The other half are very rude and throw temper tantrums when they are told an item is 50% and not 25% by the owner. No need to throw bags around like a child. 5 stars if the good employees can show the bad ones how its done.

Some of the workers are very rude and honestly I won’t shop here again. Boyne Country Sports in Novi has significantly more to choose from and the workers are highly knowledgeable and pleasant. Plus, BCS has a rewards program that is nice..

Everyone here is great to work with, but special mention to “Dinosaur Dave”. Rather than immediately trying to sell me higher end products, he took 30 minutes asking me a variety of questions about me and how I like to ski to best determine the equipment that would best suit me, then and only then did he recommend skis and boots. When he fitted the boots, he didn’t want to hear that they may feel small (which I thought they did, but didn’t say anything). He showed me how to properly buckle and after skiing Banff, Breckinridge, Alpine Valley and Boyne, I couldn’t be more pleased with everything. The boots are not tight, but properly fitted. Thank you Dave and Mountain Man, all of you are the best!

Needed new tires for my bike, Just happen to be in the area, so on a whim stopped in and got new ones put on, great service, good conversation, and reasonably priced, Walmart wouldn’t of been any cheaper and I would of spent more time trying to put them on myself.

Great Sales people very helpful and knowledgeable. The issue I had was after buying the boots and skis I looked the boots up online and found them $250 cheaper. When I came in I was told the difference was I bought the 19 model and I was looking at the 18s online, they wouldnt price match. Well I emailed Tecnica after not finding the 19 model anywhere online (including Technicas website), Technica responded that they didnt make the Cochise 90 this year but they offer a Cochise 100. Fortunately Mountain Man didnt hassle me on the return. I would have liked to keep my business local. Wish they would have owned up to it instead of lying to me. Do your research before purchasing.

Return policy is bogus. My new coat has a manufactures defect and they will not replace with the same coat because the tags are off they pretty much told me I am SOL until the spring when they can send it back to be repaired this is just unacceptable to me for a $250 item.
