So, Gander Outdoors is basically exactly what Gander Mountain was, with one exception... Gander Outdoors has much better pricing. I love the huge American flag that waves in the wind, it can be seen from the Thruway and is absolutely beautiful! There is a great selection of products for almost any occasion. The employees seemed friendly and knowledgeable. Prices on guns and ammo are very competitive and have plenty in stock. From hunting, fishing, hiking, kayaking, or any outdoor nature type of activity, Gander Outdoors is a good place to stop and check out.So why only 4 stars??? Well there is a rather large section for handgun, and those cases are empty. There is however a sign that says handguns coming soon. So maybe once they fill those cases Ill change it to 5stars.

The customer service here is totally awesome. The manager is a joy to work with. We are so glad to have this store in our area.

GOING OUT OF BUSINESS! (see my photo). After I stopped at McDs for a rest stop I walked over to Gander Mountain. There was a big sign that they were going out of business. I did a walk-through. They had some nice merchandise. I was looking at the gym clothes and shoes then I realized that New York State will charge me almost nine percent sales tax on wearable items and shoes. The heck with that and I walked out.

Im a discerning shopper and Gander typically has the lowest prices period. They have a wide variety of manufacturers (unlike the other store thats wrapped up in exclusively promoting their in house brand). I can always find something on sale or on the clearance rack that is a solid bargain. It remains my favorite outdoors and camping store.While Ive never had an unpleasant experience with a rep, I have to admit you can feel ignored at the firearms dept./counter. Ive witnessed on more than one occasion a customer voicing their impatience. The folks are great once you get someone, but a little acknowledgement would go a long way.Moving forward, Id like to see Gander expand their offerings and selections. Its a big space, get some more shoes/boots/clothing, etc.. in there.Gander is still THE goto outdoors and camping store.

Wow, I’ve never experienced what I just experienced with this store and the employees working there. Waited 2 hours to be helped, and help never came. Me and about 15 other customers were treated poorly. We were all waiting to make a purchase in their firearms section but there was only one sales rep working the counter. I was dumb enough to give them another chance the following day, and same thing happened with another 15 customers again, some the same customers from the night before. The same miserable sales rep behind the counter was just as rude and unpleasant this day as he was the previous day. Waited another 2 hours and left again empty handed.....again. We did notice though that even though there was a line, a couple employees had friends or acquaintances come in and cut the line and make their purchases as we stood there in completely dismay. I was willing to make three firearms purchases but I guess Gander will never know now. If I could give less than one star I would. I did however call their corporate HQ. Spoke to a William Robbins. (If anyone at Gander reads this and cares to know, he sent me an email too with a ticket number 1616194. Talked to him for about 45 min. William was super nice and helpful). We will see what happens though. There is another Gander opening up closer to my house, but I will probably steer clear after this juvenile display of customer service centric BS. Total turn off. I hope for everyone sake, it’s just this location.

Went in hoping for five gallon buckets with lids. They had both, but the lids were not what we were looking for and were EXTREMELY expensive, and the buckets were priced way too high, as well. The store seems very empty compared to gander mountain, and entire racks are not priced. Their sales prices on certain items are still way higher than many other places. I can see this store going under- simply because of cheaper, easier, online shopping.

Purchased some firearms on sale here. The price was good, had to make a few trips to get the ammo that was supposed to go with the gun. Picking up the firearm with my paperwork from the permit office took close to an hour when I got to the store.....ridiculous. If you can get someone at the firearms counter they are genuinely helpful, just plan on an afternoon.The issue is the availability of finding someone who can actually help you the customer. Entire racks of items not even priced. Dont bother with the GoodSam member card, its 30 dollars wasted on a piece of plastic in my wallet. They do not have the items listed online, though associates say their computer shows items on hand. Dont fall for the, Ill check the stock in the back, routine. How can a place that went under reopen and be worse off..... stay tuned for a store closing sale, this place is in trouble. 9mm Remington ammo is near double the price of the big box store. Yikes....

Non-existent customer service in the firearms section as usual. I was literally the only customer back there and was ignored and not even greeted by at least two employees. Walked right past an additional two employees on the way out and nothing but blank stares as they talked to each other. Thankfully, the person behind the counter was very pleasant. Im not expecting to be specially catered to, but some semblance of customer service would be nice. Go to cabelas and buffalo gun center for good customer service and selection.

This is a reincarnation of Gander Mountain. I liked it. Much smarter layout. Brighter, wider isles, better long-range views of products. More convenient check out. Above average bike selection with a repair shop right near the check out. Good quality footwear / sock selection. Particularly the Rocky socks and t shirts. The prices seem to be reasonable at the moment. Some decent deals. They did just reopen.

Hadnt been in here in years. Very open and spacious. Nice to shop here as result. Great service in firearms, would buy here just for that reason. Normal nice guys, not know it all pushy salesmen. Will return if I need anything.

Bought items with a 3 day return policy and tried to return them on the 3rd day and the manager explained to me that corporate pulled their ability to do anymore returns. Its crazy that Camping World outright violated their terms of sale on a purchase. I was told that I was at least the 7th person that he sent home without a refund.

Great place for hunting equipment. There is a very helpful and knowledgeable staff as well. I got prompt help finding what I was looking for and will definitely be going back.

My girlfriend and I went to Gander Mountain today to purchase hiking boots for an upcoming trip. An associate named Michelle Delano came to our assistance. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with everything we needed. She went above and beyond our expectations and made our visit enjoyable and successful. Thanks again Michelle! I really wish Gander had a better trapping section. Not even half an aisle. I do like we can bring the dogs in with us and they always are greeted warmly by the staff.

I found the staff to be friendly and low pressure, unlike some places Ive been. Some people probably want staff to be hovering close but I like being able to shop in peace and get help when I ask for it. Jill and Chris were both laid back and helpful, which works for me.All in all they made it a nicer experience than most of the places Ive been. If you want a good selection of outdoors stuff and staff that will help when you ask and otherwise let you shop in peace, you will like this place.

Disappointed to see no handicap accessibility when entering this store. Came in with a wheelchair and had a lot of difficulty. Also call from 9-9:45am and expect no one to pick up... Do like the overall appearance in the inside over the old however. Very easy to get around whether handicap or not.

Drove over an hour and theyre closed. Theyre hours are posted from 10am until 8pm. What a great business.

Purchased my first rifle and scope, staff was patient and helped me make a good selection. Royce at the rifle shop generously volunteered to mount the scope for me too even though it took until a while past their closing time. I also bought my fishing license there this year and it was quick. I would readily recommend this store to a friend.

So far my overall experience with Gander Outdoors has been a good one. The fishing aisles are restocked on a regular basis. This is something Ive learned not to take for granted, as the old Gander Mountain and even its competitors never restocked their shelves mid-season.

Went to the store to look for my girlfriend first pistol and they didnt have any one in the gun section that could open up the cases and show us the guns it was Saturday at 3pm there where probably 12 other people trying to look at guns and they had 1 person that couldnt even do the damn job so the ride to cabelas well worth it

The mega squirt gun was a joke picture but they really do have a bunch of squirt guns. We bought a fishingbtackle bag. The place is clean and a neat place to poke around in.

Went to pick up an order and they are closed for good.

Great time in the store only stopped for some fishing supplies. Some guy was complaining about a price for a cooler and being a real jerk but the staff handled it very professionally. Only issue is the sell for there store card. I had to politely decline a few times so I would maybe suggest take the first no thank you as asking multiple times becomes akward.

Inflated prices marked down as clearance are still way over priced. Many other items have no pricing and you have to try and find an associate to get a price. I waited at the back sales counter for 10 minutes for an employee to show up and finally left. This place needs a new manager at best.

I placed an order online 5/18 for an item listed as in stock. I received no update for over a week. I contacted Customer service and was told it was on backorder and should see it soon. Weeks later after NO UPDATE I contacted customer service again and was told once again it was on backorder from the manufacturer. No apology. No estimate. Finally 6 weeks later I found it on amazon for 20% less in stock. Terrible customer service.

This place used to be decent. After the remodel it just seems like the store people who dont know how to camp go to buy camping gear from people who dont know anything about camping. Poor selection of overpriced guns and ammo.

After attempting to purchase a rifle at Cabelas, where they were not in stock (advertised sale item) and the sales staff was less than helpful, I was happy to shop at Gander Mountain! Royce and another gentleman at the gun counter were friendly,accommodating and helpful.They matched the other stores price on the fire arm and even offered a discount on other items for me. Happy to stay out of the crowds of the other place...

Just speaking about the fishing Dept. (or lack thereof)....Horrible selection of lures, aisles are too narrow, and an overall disappointment. Never any staff around to answer any questions or to offer any advice. I wouldnt be surprised if this location closes. The original Gander Mountain store was WAY better.

Actually i was there tobtake a video of the enormous 80x30 ft. AMERICAN FLAG swaying in the breeze. Its so heartwarming.I believe GANDER OUTDOORS had it erected there.

Rather in person or on the phone, everyone at the tonowanda store is very polite, very helpful, and they always seem to have the items im looking for even when cabellas dose not.

I have called to find out about a product that was shipped there. They dont answer the phone. And people are rude like Im bothering them when they do. Will never use gander a again

The Store is a 3 star. But there is a DROP DEAD GORGEOUS young lady who works behind the gun counter. Please, dont take this the wrong way, she is A TRUE GENIUS in reguard to firearms. She knows more about guns/ammo and the like then most of my fellow marine buddies. For real, this girl blows my mind how absolutely BRILLIANT and beautiful she is. I am hoping that if she ever sees this she wont get upset. She has curly hair thats light brown almost amber. IF she is there, and you need an answer, ask her. She is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT..... The husband and I made the trip to Gander Outdoors as we were in need of some coolers as were in the process of defrosting the freezer. We found the Rolling coolers we were looking for and were in and out in no time at all. Matter of fact Im sorry we didnt buy one or two more.This is an odd place to look for what may be deemed a household item but it worked for us.

Would give lower ratings if possible. Called yesterday to firearms section and specifically asked if had a mossberg mini bantam 20 gauge shot gun for my sons 1st Turkey hunt in pa. I was told they have 3 of them. So I picked son up from school and told him we were going to get his new shotgun. As to his surprise we get there and they dont have in stock. Amazing this place does the same as other gander mtn try to sell you something else. Had to search and found one at buffalo gun center. You cant just change the name of store. Its still gander mtn and the gander mtn ways of lies and deceit. Train your employees on what you have in stock and dont lie to the customer. Just some advice!! Probably wont hear from mgmt.

Went to buy wadders at tonawanda location..found what i needed great price...also needed winter boots for my wife that was a special boot..they where the only ones to have them...brought them in to there store ..told Me 7 days had them in 2.... excellent customer service...sorry to see them close been shopping there for years...

Everyone at this store was a massive help to me. In the time Ive spent there all of the staff has helped me get exactly what I needed and was more than willing to help me learn about anything I asked them. The firearms department is so knowledgeable about their inventory it helped narrow down my purchases greatly especially when they took the time to walk me through purchasing my first firearm. Royce was a big help taking the time to walk me through even the basics and even fitted my scope for me. So not only were they understanding and willing to help but the staff in the hunting attire helped outfit me in everything I needed from blinds to boots they helped me make all of the really tough choices with ease. They really are going to make the up and coming seasons a fantastic time for me, couldnt thank Gander enough. The time and effort they put it in for me was much more than what Cabelas has done for me. Gander is my choice every time now.

Purchased numerous items from here everything from guns to clothes and plenty of gift cards. Bought my grandson a toy crossbow for Christmas that broke after the first pull. Arm snapped completely off. Went to ATTEMPT to return it and was asked if I purchased a protection plan I looked at the associate like are you kidding me? The manager Acting manager I was told the manager is no longer there, that returns needed to either be unopened or in resellable condition. 1st how are you supposed to know if its has a defect without opening it? And how can they put the responsibility of a defect on the customer. He suggested I contact Realtree.UPDATE; The store manager called me and the situation was resolved.

The only reason Im giving 1star is, its the only way I could comment. Without exaggerating, I have been over charged every time that Ive made a purchase at the Tonawanda store in the past 2 years! If I dont go over my receipt before leaving the store,I get over charged. I am convinced this is not a coincidence. The only reason I kept going back is the convenience of being close to home. Well, that ends today. I will drive to cabelas or order online from anyone else rather than gander mountain!
