Have loved this store for a long time- the people actually working the floor are wonderful and the rental pieces are beautiful. I dont normally leave reviews, but WATCH OUT FOR THE LADY AT THE REGISTER. She overcharged me by $20 and she knew what she was doing. Didnt give me the price before swiping my card and didnt confirm the price on the pinpad at all. I didnt realize because I was having a lovely conversation with the man who was helping me as I was shopping. Just beware when you go to check out that they are actually charging you the correct amount.

I did some last minute shopping but I got everything I needed! Ms. Kathy was super nice and made my shopping experience very pleasant! I was in and out! Will definitely be back! Definitely recommend!!

As busy as they were that day (having a huge sale during recital season) I felt seen and helped. I was able to get in and out very quickly and received knowledgeable direction from staff. They seemed to be well stocked with a good variety of items. I think some things were a little pricey, but were new to the dance world so that just be the regular cost of quality materials. We will definitely be back.

Horrible store sells the exact same items as party City or any other Halloween store was told on the phone that had an 8-ft section of everything pennywise including makeup kicks was a lie when I arrived on store also has a guy sitting at the front door with a gun because I guess apparently people steal from there on a regular do not even attempt to drive to what a waste of time

The ladies that were helping everyone in the store were knowledgeable about the what size my daughter ballet shoes should be and explained to me to me that the size of a ballet shoes are different then her regular shoe. They also answered my questions about a ballet shoes should form to the person foot who wears it. They were great. Also a great place too find a Halloween costume.

Went to the Halloween and Costume section of the store, the door was locked, the lights were off (it is late-September), two customers went to come out... but the door was locked... the “employee/owner/whatever” (an older white woman - just in case you wanted to know) had to unlock the door for them to leave.She barely stuck her head out the half-cracked door and asked us, “What SPECIFICALLY are you looking for?”I explained that I was looking to browse the Halloween items (being as it is late-September, and it’s a Halloween store, appearing to be fully stocked and packed with nice items and costumes)Again, she asked in a very rushed manner, “What SPECIFICALLY are you looking for?” She continued, “Technically we’re not open, but I’ll let you in, I let them in - we’re not open, I just want an idea of what you’re looking for!” (referring to the couple who had just left, after having to be let out of the locked doors)Understanding that if I did enter, I was going to be rushed and escorted around the shop until I felt awkward enough to feel the need to leave, I told her never mind.I guess the only way this shop can afford to pay its rent is to leech off the attached dance shop, the one with the over-priced items and, I’m assuming, same employee/owner in which I encountered todayI should’ve listened to the poor reviews I read earlier -very spot on with my experience

Ive been a customer of Artistic Dance Fashions, whether for dance, yoga classes, or costume items, for about 40 years. Ive never had anything but great service. A few years ago, when my daughter needed to be fitted for pointe shoes, this is the ONLY place I would take her to.Like all small businesses today, they are making adaptations due to COVID. Store hours and staffing are based on demand and what current regulations allow, but they are clearly doing their best to serve their clients during this unpredictable time. Id gladly recommend Artistic to anyone looking for costume or dance supplies.

I love this store, the first time I came here was the week before I started dance, I needed black jazz shoes, a leotard, and transition tights. The employee helped me find the right size leotard (I couldnt even find the tag myself) and when I tried the leotard on she pointed out that I might want to wear a smaller size since it was loose in a few areas. After being a tremendous help with that, she pulled out about 4 different brands and different sizes to help me find the right size and fit for me.

Love this place! Ive known Harriet for many years. My Mom and I shopped here when I danced as a little girl. And now my daughter is dancing and Im so happy to return to this wonderful familiar place! The staff was very attentive. They took time with my lil dancer making sure his new jazz shoes fit just right. It was a bit far for us from western Howard county but we came away very satisfied.

I discovered this store when searching at the last minute for dance apparel for my daughters who started ballet the next day. All I can say is that this is your one stop shop for all of your dance apparel needs for shoes, to leotards to dance shoes and the staff is extremely helpful! The owner actually personally stayed and helped me after the store closed and personally fit my daughters herself. We felt so special. I could tell that she used her dance knowledge every step of the way. You have a life long customer!! Thank you!!!!!!

My daughter found her ballet costume she was looking for. Decent location, good parking, friendly staff but some items were a tad bit pricey but my daughter felt the prices were ok for costumes and ballet items. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs ballet items, dance items, costumes of all sorts or Halloween costumes. Its so much stuff here to browse through.

A great local dance shop. The owner has been there for years and her experience has been invaluable in finding the right ballet slippers and then pointe shoes for my hard to fit daughter. Im very happy to support local businesses like theirs.

Owner was rude! If she thinks youre not going to purchase from her, shell dismiss you. Staff will stop helping you to assist someone else. Price are expensive because they are the only local dance shop. I did better online with Discount Dance!

I was referred to the store did to their selection and affiliation to my daughters dance group. (A discount on wears if purchased).1. Upon entering the store, I could only identify one person assisting customers. She was awesome.2. My daughter is hard to fit in dance shoes, I just needed to know if they carried her size.3. I located the brand that my daughter preferred, I just learned down to see if they carried her size as I located the shoes we were looking to replace. I never intended to move anything on the self.4. We are not self service was the greeting that a received. And no, it was not pleasantly started. It was only after this comment was made that I noticed her seating of the the side of the self. She was conversing with two other women. I head no idea there was someone else in the store.4. I wish I had received the same level of service that I witnessed her employee giving the other customers.5. Due to the aforementioned and the thought space in which we were standing, I asked my daughter to back out of the area. The way in which she addressed me gave me the impression that she thought we are shoplifting.6. As we were moving out of the area so that we could wait to be served. She did ask me if I was offended and when I replied yes, you did offended me. She went on to then state to another customer in my presence that she felt she had done nothing that could be viewed as offensive.I did not make a purchase due to the rudeness of the owner. Initially it was the tone in which she addressed me. Ultimately, it was the manor in which she tried to demean me. She maybe the owner, but this is not the only store that sells such products. I happily took my business where my patronage is appreciated and I am not left to feel like a bother.

Talk about a rip off. Let’s see before Christmas purchased new tap shoes and pointe shoes. Have been coming here for all dance shoes so needless to say we have spent hundreds. Anyway this day we came for tap and pointe. Everything was great until it was time to use them and the elastic and ribbon was not with the shoes. I called and was told I had to purchase them. Sure they were only $6.00 but it’s the principal of the matter. I asked around and according to the dance teacher and plenty of other students, they received their elastic and ribbon when they purchased. Went to the store to get them and was told by an employee that “we don’t know the situation” “some dancers already have ribbon and elastic and don’t want new, seriously it gets sewn on the shoe so who really saves the elastic and ribbon. Just as I told her we are first year pointe so that wasn’t the issue. I also asked to see ballet shoes and was told we don’t do it that way, we have to help you. Same women, didn’t bother to get her name, wasn’t worth it- glasses and pretty homely looking is the best description I can give. So glad there are other places to purchase our dance shoes in the area. Surely hope the $6 elastic and ribbon was worth it- every season we get new tap, ballet and lyrical shoes and let me not forget I also need ballet and tap shoes, wouldn’t dare spend another penny in here.

Came here to buy everything for my daughters dance class. I was told this was a one stop shop for the things I needed. We ultimately got ran out and threatened by the shop owner because we mentioned getting a backup pair of shoes online.
