Spirits were above average and service was great. The rye and single barrel bourbon are particularly good. However, cocktails were disappointing. Maple sour (with egg) barely had any foam or maple flavor. Barrel aged Manhattan was watery and flat.

Great staff, gals took time to chat about the area and had great suggestions. The gentleman new his all his stuff with the taste testing. Again great suggestions.

You are able to sample high end liquor for a small tasting charge, which is waived if you buy a bottle of their spirits. Or skip the bs, and order a cocktail at the bar. Very generous pours, good drinks. Several tables out front you can sit at and enjoy the sunshine.

The staff was awesome, very reasonable prices for tasting, but the whiskey was over priced. Great spot to grab a drink and roam the streets. I recommend stopping by.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff who could explain everything about the products we were tasting as well as friendly advice about traverse city for us first-timers. We ended up buying a couple of bottles and leaving as very happy customers with a dinner recommendation that was amazing too!

Swill. If you enjoy the taste of rubbing alcohol and having your esophagus close up from the burn shock have fun. I have traveled extensively and have been very spoiled with the spirits I have had the privilege to sample. This is not one of them. It’s always a disappointment when a local place misses the mark. Lovely atmosphere.

The Grand Traverse Distillery/ Tasting room seemed very ... bar like. Which can be fine, but i wanted a whiskey place that did whiskey and knew whiskey and talked whiskey and grrrrrrah!Ill admit, that by the time I reached Grand Traverse, I had already been drinking, but I had a hard time distinguishing the flavors supposedly therein.Overall, nice place, nice staff, cool bar and sitting areas, but it didnt quite hit me right.

Stopped in for a to-go drink at 7:45pm before last call. Both bartenders were short tempered and made us feel very unwelcome.

They made us leave 50 mins before they closed because they wanted to clean up early and leave

Delicious cocktails and friendly staff. My wife enjoyed the lemonade cocktail. I had the Manhattan and the gin and tonic. Both were fantastic.

We tried their cherry vodka, chocolate vodka and cherry whisky all were amazing. Tastes like real cherry and dark chocolate. None of that fake sweetener added. They also sell Bee Well cidars which are great also. Every time Ive been here the bartenders were wonderful.

SUCH a nice tasting room. Slightly classy but very nice taste. Loved the $5 tasting with the free sniffer! I highly recommend the Cherry Vodka and the Islay Rye.

Tried the spirit flight (and got a free souvenir glass) and gin cocktails and both were good. Comfortable seating and they had a live band playing music. Cool place to visit right in downtown for a few local drinks!

My husband and I stopped in for a tasting and stayed for a couple additional drinks. The gin was very good, as was the mead. Many creative cocktail options as well.

The establishment itself is great but the bottle I bought was horrible. Tastes like corn moonshine with no alcohol content.The bourbon while I was there was great but when I bought the bottle it was like a completely different beverage. One star for the trickery. But overall, great and friendly staff! Ginger beer is amazing!

**We visited during COVID so recognize operations may run differently during normal times**We had heard really great things about the Grand Traverse Distillery — it was a “must visit” from those we spoke to. However, when we arrived, there were people everywhere and no clear understanding of how to order a drink or get a tasting.We finally identified the line, and realized they only had two bartenders on staff — one making cocktails and one managing tastings. The line took longer than necessary because the only menu they had was right at the front so you couldn’t decide on your order ahead of time.Our drinks were ok. I would recommend any new visitors try their staple, the cherry vodka lemonade. This is what they are know for, I believe.Separately, it’s a very dirty, unorganized place. There were tables left unclean with empty drinks mounting on top. There was an unused bar at the back that had stuff everywhere, and they left unused chairs piled up. It reminded me of a place Bar Rescue would target — it has real potential, but likely mismanaged.

Seems like it’s nice, but when I went it was slightly busy. Bar area full, rest of it empty- waited 30 minutes for service as bartender mentioned she would provide when we walked in, didn’t happen we left-probably not coming back.

Great atmosphere and great drinks. I love that the prime sell is tastings of lots of local made spirits, wine and mead. We were able to try several types of spirits and mead including a bottle for under $30. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back next time were in north west Michigan.

I came here in August and took a tour with a tasting. I enjoyed every bit of it including the tasting. I recommend the chipotle vodka and Isley Rye. I bought a bottle of the ole gorge double barrel rye. This rye is amazing with its velvety taste and hints of vanilla. I opened my bottle and was given a strong smell of corn. Leading me to think this was a bottle of bourbon that was mislabeled. The bourbon is good. Real strong taste of corn, pepper and caramel; definitely not a drink for beginners. Maybe it was just my luck but I would return. I would just buy and taste my drink prior to leaving. Considering that I traveled 7 hours.

Very nice distillery. They have a ton of different alcohols that they distill here, whiskeys, vodka, gin, and lots of variety of each one. They have $5 flights of different spirits and you get a cool little souvenir glass with it. They also have almost everything they sell in bottles that you can buy and other gift type items to buy. Bar tenders were very friendly and knowledgeable and make some very good cocktails.

This place is setup for tasting plus table service. Bar is well setup with alot of open roomy space.

Wow. We had the best cocktails here. The vodka and bourbon were really good. My favorite was the pineapple infused vodka on the rocks. It was incredible. It seems like a limited time thing but they will most likely do other infusions that will probably be just as good.

No service. Would have loved to taste their whiskey but two people at the bar could not handle the crowd. We left without even being recognized after standing at the bar for five minutes. Should give a zero.

Really quality spirits. They could do a little better with decor and interior ambiance. Tenders are working from cheat sheets . . I think because they make up new drink recipes very very often. Nice, but needs a bit more styling.

My five star rating is deceptive - A group of friends love to come here almost every Friday evening. But none of us is a big drinker and many just get something non-alcoholic. Its the music, the live Younce guitar duo, that is such a pleasure to listen to, and sometimes dance to.

Great drinks house crafted spirits. The Ole George rye was mellow and complex. Bar staff were great with not only info about the alcohol, but also info about other local watering holes and the local music scene. Definitely recommend for a drink and a chat.

Terrible experience at the tasting room. I came in with my wife, brother and sister-in-law and our children. We were clearly not welcome from the minute we walked through the door. I order the old George, which I really liked, when I went to look at a bottle to buy my glass was cleared from my table and the staff all denied that they cleared it. We left immediately after that. If they didn’t allow kids they could have just said that. Instead they sold us drinks and decided to treat us horribly. I will never support this company again!

Great atmosphere, many tastings available, excellent products, and the woman that hosted was actually the daughter of the owner! We talked with her long after she closed! Im a whiskey drinker and not a fan of vodka, especially flavoured ones, but I favoured the Chipotle Infused Vodka, the Chocolate Vodka, and the Barrel-Aged Gin (and I DO like Gins and am VERY picky). I will go again several times while Im up here!

Would try again but the time we went they had 2 staff members and the one assigned to us was a woman. We wanted to do tastings but she acted like we shouldve known what we wanted or decide in 30 seconds. Was early in the day on a Saturday with few people in the store. She would barely answer questions then walk away before we could order. We tried twice to order and then left. The gentleman seemed much more attentive to his 2 small groups (2 or 3 people per group). They had at most 4 small sets of people to wait on. We were visiting from 8 1/2 hours away with intentions of visiting wineries and purchasing wine. Very disappointed.

Drinks were great! Bartenders were bitchy. Apparently they dont like money. We arrived with a bus group and there were only 4-8 people in there before and after we left. Theres a reason for that. It seemed like they were annoyed they actually had to work.

Grand Traverse Distillery is right in the middle of downtown and also partners with local wineries to offer its products. I also work with Grand Traverse Distillery products in downtown Grand Rapids, where its offered at 40 Pearl, which has food, wine and distillery selections from Northern Michigan.
