Excellent service! My guitar needed some TLC and they set it up quickly and beautifully. I should have done this long ago! It feels so much better! Plus - friendly, funny and knowledgeable sales staff. Now I just need to get better! Keep up the great work!
I bought an old Gibson ES-copy that just needed a nut, bridge, tuners, pickups, wiring, and paint, and I havent yet finished it. So I feel like they could have at least attempted to talk me out of adding yet another item to my already long list of unfinished project guitars. Regardless, they gave me a good deal, and the staff were all pretty helpful in selling me a new cable and some strings, so Ill call it even. Cool guitar shop, hope they stay there a long time.
These guys have repaired or done custom mods on 4 of my guitars. They are quick and reasonably priced. They always have some special vintage instruments to check out as well as their own line of guitars. They repair amps too and even glued a neck back onto an upright bass for me after it snapped off. I recently moved and will be driving yet another guitar an hour and a half to have them repair it after having a bad experience locally
Excellent shop. I have been taking my stuff here for years for repairs and up keep. The repair jobs are always quality and are done in a timely fashion. They can repair just about anything. Very reasonably priced, very knowledgeable staff and great selection of goods. Highly recommend.
An awesome vibe exudes from this hip guitar shop. Lots of string instruments available, sound deadening room so you can test out your favorite riffs as loud as you want on any of your prospective purchases. The owner was super friendly, helpful and not pushy at all. All the staff were wearing masks, even the guy who was by himself off to the side doing guitar repair. We picked up a couple of shirts for my son (hes the guitar aficionado) and the owner threw in a couple of guitar pics and some stickers for his guitar case. Nice place....enjoyed our time there!
I purchased a guitar from a private seller online, and received it just in time for a show that same evening. However, upon inspection I found that the offset tuners were installed in the wrong order and there was little hope of it staying in tune. I called TCGC and Tim empathized with my disappointment-- and even though they were 10 days out on maintence orders, he told me to drop it off same day and theyd squeeze me in.The techs re-installed the tuners, adjusted the tension, discovered a pick up was also installed incorrectly and reinstalled it, and even doweled the old machine holes. All in time for me to play it that night. That would have been enough for my gratitude, but then they turned around and charged me for a normal advanced set up -- no rush charge at all!Aside from great service and pro quality work, this spot is a gem in our arts community. We are lucky to have them in TC.
This company is the real deal! They know guitars, serve customers needs beyond expectation and have fair pricing. Thank you TCGC for your caring expertise! You guys rock!
Let me start off with the store is nice and a cool place to go to. But, I find the return policy isn’t well constructed. You get five days to return a new thing you bought. I bought an $80 used wah pedal and it didn’t work well for my amp. I went to return it and was told that I could swap it out for a different pedal of the same price or get store credit. I was never informed it was used and that store bought used items would not be accepted as a cash refund. Secondly, when I bought the pedal, I was told I would need a cord for it. I bought the cheapest cord for $15. When I got home and tried it out i forgot to plug in the cord I “needed” and it worked without it. I didn’t have a problem with returning that item but it wasn’t right for the salesmen to lie to me.
Looks like a great selection of guitars, and they seemed friendly enough, but nobody inside was wearing masks. Definitely made me feel rushed to get out. I cant afford to get sick and lose any more time off work, so though they seem like a great shop, I wont be going back any time soon. Wearing masks while working sucks; I work eight-hour retail shifts with one, so I get it. But its such an easy thing to do to show you care about customers health.
They are all great here. Very nice, quaint, well rounded and decently priced store.Their guitar services are a bit backed up, but well worth the (12 day at the time) wait.
I visited this little shop while on vacation near traverse City because Im in the music business myself and I also have some experience with instrument building.I met Geno, the owner of the store and his associates and instantly felt welcome. They were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. In fact I was so impressed with Genos guitars that he had built that I requested that I could buy a handmade ukulele from him. I live out of town, but he said that he would ship me one as soon as he was finished. He built me a ukulele to my specifications. Even fulfilled my request for type of wood and for having electronics installed. I received it 2 days after it was shipped (with a case) all for a very reasonable price especially when you consider the quality and craftsmanship of this amazing instrument. The ukulele sounds incredible acoustic or plugged in to an amplifier and is made with locally sourced cherry tree wood. I couldnt be happier with it!Geno and the TC guitar staff, well done and thank you!
I brought in my PRS to have it set up, entonated and fix a ground issue. They did a great job and had it back to me in just a few days as they promised. They do great work. All of their in-house guitars play really well too.
Great selection from new to used, they even make custom guitars there which is amazing. The staff has been helpful and attentive everytime I go there.
As cool as Miles Davis. We love this place. Weve enjoyed guitar and banjo lessons from Mark and the kindness of all employees!
Kind and helpful, but half the staff doesnt wear masks. I waited outside and felt rushed to try to get in and out, as a result. Even so, nice and good selection. Cmon, guys. Please just mask up
Amazing guitar store, I personally take lessons here with Zeke, and love to shop here as well. Staff is really nice and super helpful. A sure recommendation for any guitarist, looking for anything at all.
Very nice gentleman. Very talented. Great service. Thank you.
I was greeted at the door by an employee not wearing a mask who came well within six feet of me and I left immediately. Have visited the store several times over the years and have had good experiences in the past, but I’m not going to patronize a store that is gambling with the health of customers and employees. Please adhere to COVID safety guidelines and make sure your staff does likewise. I will not be returning until you do.EDIT: I was informed later that the staff member in question claimed a medical exemption to mask-wearing, and that the store was therefore in technical compliance with Department of Health guidelines. I nevertheless didn’t feel that my experience here reflected best practice for coronavirus precautions or allowed me to make an informed decision about my own safety. I have added a star to my original one star review because they offer curbside pickup, which I was not aware of when I wrote the review, but this should not substitute for in-store precautions.
They are great and helped me with work on my instruments, from travel guitar to my Les Paul, next will be a hollowbody guitar that they will make
Helpful staff, good prices
The team at TC Guitar is always helpful with honest advice and fair prices. Highly recommend! CO
Im not usually inspired to write reviews, but I have to say this store is awesome. I brought my guitar in while on vacation and they were able to fix it within one day even though they were backed up with repairs. It also only cost half of what I was quoted. Thanks so much, guys, keep up the great work!
Nice guys. Im unable to reply to your need for more stars. I think 5 star ratings are overrated. Thats all. I reserve 5 for extra special situations.I can make it 3, if its a problem. Thanks.
These folks are top notch. They go above and beyond for there customers.
Love the place good people and know there stuff
Im very glad that I stopped into TCGC this past weekend while taking a break from the Cherry Fest! I found one of the coolest Warmoth custom superstrats that Ive seen in a long time. The guys were knowledgeable and knew what I was talking about during setup and they even gave me an amazing deal that I couldnt refuse. Total hospitality! Ill definitely visit again. Thanks Traverse City Guitar Company!Best regards,Jaime Trevino of RockStar
I was visiting Traverse City last weekend and was looking forward to checking out the store. I stopped in on Saturday afternoon. As soon as I walked in I noticed 3 employees behind the counter, none of whom were wearing face masks. Customers came in without masks on as well. So it appears to be fairly common practice for the store.
I liked the shop, it was a great experience except a few things. First, is that there were no left-handed guitars in there so I couldnt have a full experience. Second, is that none of the staff was wearing masks. This doesnt help any way promote social distancing and keeping the curve flat. These are my complaints, but other than that, it was a good experience.
Helpful, no pressure staff. Mike Youker has been a pleasure to work with for guitar lessons. Thanks guys.
I love to visit TC Guitar/North Coast Ukulele Company anytime I am in Michigan. The guitars and ukes are the highest quality around. I am always impressed with the precision and detail in their handmade pieces. The owners and staff are friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. They will go above and beyond to make sure their customers are satisfied. Id give them 10 stars if I could.
Great place with great staff. They are very passionate about what they do and I can tell that they love doing it. Plus there are nice vintage guitars to drool over!
Great guitar store!! Great selection and incredibly helpful staff. These guys really know guitars, in fact they build beautiful electric guitars as well as ukuleles. I live a couple hours away but the drive is well worth it. They helped me with a major neck issue on my acoustic guitar that my local shop lacked the expertise to deal with.
Best guitar shop this town has ever seen. The gents here take care of all my gear and I wouldnt trust anyone else. They know their stuff. Cant go wrong.
Very helpful and friendly staff with knowledgable advice. They have an awesome selection of pedals, strings, and guitars including some of their own custom built ones which play very nice. I will be visiting again soon.
Very helpful staff, great selection of acoustic guitars, particularly Taylors, good location and convenient
Gene was incredibly helpful. The store is closed on Sunday, but he agreed to drop by after church to sell me some bridge pins that I needed for an emergency, on-road repair. I could not be more grateful. Thanks, Gene!
Great guitar shop! I spent about 35 minutes in the store today. Im more of a keep to myself kind of shopper. The staff made themselves available without being overbearing. Giving me time to browse through their beautiful selection of guitars, ukeleles, banjos and amplifiers. I also had the chance to observe the staff as they answered every question with confidence and without hesitation. Great place for a beginner musician to feel welcome.
I got my ukulele here and I know several people who got theirs here. My boyfriend and his friends all get their guitars adjusted and worked on here. They even have a liitle studio to jam out to in the back and try guitars and offer guitar lessons.
Highly recommend this shop. The people are very knowledgeable and friendly. For anything guitar related, Go Here! These guys are the best.
I absolutely love this shop! No pressure, just people who care and share your love of guitar. You can be a pro or total novice and these guys treat you like gold. Perhaps my favorite shop ever! I always stop in when vacationing in T.C. and I highly recommend you do to!
Am interested in a Ukulele and was looking at the North Coast. Beautiful craftsmanship, I will be back to pick one up. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The service here is outstanding. They have set up several guitars professionally for me that now play exceptionally well. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. These folks know their stuff! Highly recommend.
Good people.
The staff here are amazing! Great service...great products!! Highly recommend for purchases or repairs. Very knowledgeable!
$1000 north Shore ukuleles that are maybe worth $300. You can tell that a guitar maker made them. Thick necks, thick tops, sides separating, cardboard box sounding. Real uke players should avoid them.
Absolutely love my North Coast Uke. Made from reclaimed barn wood found right here in Michigan. I think it has great tone and is well crafted. Stays in tune better than any Uke I’ve owned. Superb playability and either amped or unplugged projects nicely. Versatile for any player whether on stage or around the campfire.
Great service and lessons. Fantastic locally made custom guitars, basses and acoustic guitars made of local woods or exotic woods. Good place for moderately proceed mid range guitars too. They stock Seagull, the best value in acoustics. The staff is friendly and responsive.
From the second I walked in the door I felt welcome. You know how you walk into some music stores and feel like an outsider who just interrupted the locals... That is not what you get here, friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. They wanted my business and I had absolutely no qualms about leaving my most prized possession in their care!
These guys always take care of me when Im on the guitar prowl. They are the real deal when it comes to musical instrument knowledge.
Ive been to a lot of guitar stores coast to coast in my 40 years of playing. This shop is amazing. From customer service to technical expertise. Best set up ever on my 25 year old Taylor. Great place!
Not place, but a good selection. The people there know their stuff, and their techs do good work quickly. You can also find interesting used instruments from lap steels to an electric stand-up bass.
Awesome service and selections.
Came here looking to replace a part for a instrument we have on the road with us and it was a great sraff, super friendly and helpful. Great business!!
Awesome customer service! awesome repair facility! Products and services are top-notch! Great family environment.
Alright, going to start with the only complaint. I asked them to send me a quote before they starting working on it, which they didn’t do BUT they were incredibly nice about it and with the price of labor I didn’t even need the quote. I was planning on 130$-150$ based on other service shops. They charged me for 2 hours of labor when they did over 4. 70$ later and my guitar has never sounded so smooth. I would highly reccomend this business to anyone. Their staff is knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. I’m a beginner and they went over everything they had done and how it would impact it. They are my new go-to spot in traverse!
Great guitar set-ups. Helpful crew.
Great store with solid selection. In store set up of instruments. Everything plays smooth. Great in store vibe.
I didnt know they ARE VETERAN LED....THAT PUTS THEM IN BLUE RIBBON CATEGORY.RED IS FOR 2ND PLACE...LIKE KNOWHATTA MEAN VERN????😝🤪🤣

Another excellent setup on one of my guitars! Thank you!
TC Guitar did a super fast turnaround time for a guitar electronics installation. They were knowledgeable, nice, reasonably priced, great workmanship, creative, and quick. What more could you ask for in a music store!
Friendly staff that knows there stuff, have helped me with a couple guitar repairs/builds. I always enjoy stopping by there shop.
The best guitar store in Michigan! Now the proud owner of 2 Ainesis electric guitars!!!
Great shop. Friendly staff. Bought a used lefty guitar that is set up perfectly. Recommend
Theyre so knowledgeable and very very nice people. all in all Ive been there a few times and every time Ive had a good experience and they carry great brands and quality products.
I took my Guild in to have it checked out. It was making a crackling noise and intermittent volume spikes. Tim worked his magic on it and it hasnt sounded or played this well in years! Totally impressed. Additionally, Sean put a new K and K pick up in my Taylor T5. Its never sounded so good! Great job Sean and thank you as well. TC Guitar is the place to go for all your guitar needs!
Great selection with some used gems. Very helpful and friendly staff, too!
Very nice! Great stock, great customer service. Pleased with my purchases. Thanks tc guitar

Incredibly friendly staff, helped me with a mic issue and I didnt even buy the mic from them!
Traverse City Guitar Company has an extremely knowledgable and friendly staff. They have done tremondously good work on my guitars. The turnaround time for repair is excellent and the repair rates are very fair. I have also started taking lessons at TC Guitar Company of which have been well worth my time and money. I highly recommend doing business here.
Great options, stock and staff. They were friendly and knew their products. Will return!

I had one of my guitars sent to tcguitars and someone messed up my fret board and was gonna make ME SPEND $200 to fix it. Not a good experience
We are lucky to have such a nice guitar storeWith amazing staff and teachers....
Amazing little shop, the staff is extremely friendly. I went in one day with a string I had messed up, and they gave me a new one for free and even put it in for me.
The finest guitar shop in Northern Michigan!
Very best music store in town. I wouldnt even consider going elsewhere.
Masters of the setup. Super friendly
Good selection, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and excellent service. Take a lesson with Greg to start learning or to build those chops.
Knowledgable, caring, and friendly staff! A great place
Great prices, friendly staff and excellent service. This place hands down defines what customer service is about.
