Ive went to this store to buy guitar strings and I wasnt allowed in. His reasoning was due to covid. Because of this, I had no choice but to wait outside. I asked him why and I was told the only way to come inside is by scheduling an appointment and that its been this way for 18 months. To add on, I wasnt able to browse for the exact item I wanted, nor was I able to pay INSIDE the store. This experience has left me very confused due to the fact that I can go inside any other guitar store and browse with no restructions other than wearing a mask. I received my strings not knowing what other options were available. Due to this, I am a dissatisfied customer and I will not return ever again.
Drove to Collar City Guitars from NH. Peter the owner was very accommodating and knowledgeable. He was very friendly and pleasantly worked with me to a mutually agreeable price. I love the Robin Rangemonger guitar. Great experience. Thanks Peter!
Peter is a good guy and the service is great.
Very knowledgeable in guitars, nice but very small store with a lot of vintage instruments, liked this store very much.
Purchased a lightly used guitar for a decent price, but couldnt find equipment I was looking for.Small shop, limited inventory, but what they do have is in good shape and fairly priced. Would purchase from them again.
I bought Reverend DA guitar from CCG 9-ish months ago off Reverb. Great transaction. Recently had it restrung and set up at a Guitar Center where I live - the work was poorly done and actually caused a problem with one of the tuners. I was in town (live out of state) and contacted CCG. Peter was just fantastic... he identified and fixed the issue and put new strings on for me - gratis. Wanted me to be happy as I had purchased the guitar from him. Class act and very professional - THANKS Peter and CCG!!!!
My guy got his last guitar there so got him some things to add to it for his birthday 🤣🎉
Terrible... Ill never go back... gave them many chances. Every guitar they worked on had to be fixed by someone else after the fact. Guitars are great now, thank you Parkway music!!
Did a good job setting up my Acoustic Guitar.
Highly recommend this store for tune ups! Everything was great from start to finish. I brought in my guitar that was seriously neglected. Peter was amazingly thorough while describing what needed to be done, and very knowledgeable about it all. When I got my guitar back I was floored at how GREAT it looked. They were able to repair my tuning machines and keep it aesthetically pleasing. Ive never seen that guitar as cleaned as it was. The guitar plays as good as it did from day one. GREAT WORK!!!
Peter and his team are very helpful, and are always happy to help!
I brought my early 90s Gibson Les Paul Studio to Peter at Collar City, the guitar was giving me fits with flat and sharp notes around the first 3 frets; especially, when playing chords...Peter was great and quickly identified the problem; evidently the bridges on the Gibsons will warp overtime due to the constant stress on them, this causes some string length changes, albeit slight, it was enough to cause horrible sounding chords and no matter how much you try to adjust the intonation, the intonation would be off. Peter also recommended a fret dressing and leveling... I just got the guitar home and it plays like it did nearly 25 years ago when I bought it...fantastic work! Peter knows his stuff and couldnt be a nicer guy, I totally recommend bringing your guitar to Collar City, or just stop in for some free opinions! :-)
Love this place. They are so helpful and knowledgable! Prices and service are great! They even have used items to fit your budget.
I finally got an opportunity to stop in, the staff welcomed me and answered my questions. Prices seemed fair. Ill definitely shop here again.
Great folks there! Very knowledgeable and helpful! Good prices and they also have some used items to save even more money!
Peter is the nicest and must knowledgeable person you could have helping you pick it a guitar!
An outstanding little shop. Theyve done really excellent repair and maintenance work on both my acoustic and electric guitars; both guitars came back to me playing better than ever. Quick, skillful work, a nice selection of strings and accessories, and a surprisingly good selection of guitars for sale for such a small place. Highly recommended.
They have some cool stuff, but do not engage well or act interested in customers at all.. Felt like we were waisting their time for just coming in. When we tried to buy something both cashiers walked away from us and ignored us until we walked out and they proceeded to tell us to have a nice day
My husband and I had a great experience here. Peter was very helpful and pleasant to talk to. It was hard to finalize on two guitars as first timers and with so many cool instruments around. But Peter helped us make this decision, without misleading us with expensive guitars. We are very thankful for all the help and support!!! Would definitely refer this store to family and friends. Also will return for all our music needs 😀
Great shop! Selection is small but surprisingly diverse with high-end gear alongside beginner/practice instruments. Very helpful staff.
A wonderful small, friendly guitar shop. They offer repairs for acoustic and electric. Best if all - free opinions! I traded a couple of inexpensive guitars for a wonderful 1930s Gibson - got what I thought was a good deal.
There is a general unwelcoming feeling in their store with the staff. Their work on my guitar was not satisfactory in my opinion. I’d recommend elsewhere like Hilton Music or Parkway Music or any place else.
The guys were awesome. Thanks for helping me out today!! See you soon. I will be back to buy that purple guitar. ❤🎵🎶🎸
Very nice people. They restrung two cheap guitars that we had laying around the house for my son who is just learning to play. Ill definitely be back to get him something nicer at Collar City if he keeps practicing.
Always get my daughters guitar strings fixed and restrung here. Nice selection of guitars in the wall and helpful fast workers who can multitask multiple customers and get everyone taken care of.
Ill never take one of my guitars anyplace else for work, ever.
Looked at their inventory online, found exactly what I was looking for and went down to the shop and bought it. Peter hooked me up with a strap for the banjo and finger picks for only a few bucks more. I went back a couple days later for new strings and they waived the bench fee and comped me the strings... told me my money was no good here. Cool dudes all around, Highly recommend! Will definitely be back for another instrument or just to shoot the breeze.
Peter was great to deal with. The Amp I purchased on Reverb was as described or better. A very smooth transaction. Very professional and helpful people to deal with. Howard Curry NYC
Awesome shop. I keep all of my instruments set up and maintained by Peter and John, and they have never felt or played better than they do now.
So heres the thing... great instruments, super selection of pedals / effects, and most importantly great no-pressure staff who know their stuff. This is a shop worth travelling for.
I brought a modified, no-name/off-brand replica guitar from the 80s into the shop, missing little things like a few locator rings for the tuning nuts and the knob on the pickup selector switch. I only brought it in for a setup and new strings, but these guys not only strung it and set it up - they also checked the modified electronics for correctness, replaced the little missing parts and gave it back to me within a few hours. They were friendly, totally unpretentious, and invited me to bring it back for a checkup if I have any further issues. 15/10, will go back if I need anything else. I grabbed a few extra business cards just in case I want to recommend them to friends.
Havent been there for Years, I been there a very long time ago, I dont play, but, someone that Treasure Troy history and plays should take a quick trip you might find a wonderful find.
Its Ok. I wish they had funkier cool stuff and higher end items but I appreciate them. I havnt tried any repair service there though.
Staff here is excellent in every regard. Made great recommendations, super knowledgeable, eager to help, let me try out the equipment. Its everything youd want in a guitar store.
Awesome little shop. Came in and jammed on a rarely seen Reverend guitar and the staff was very cool the whole time. They also have a great t-shirt.
Brought in a guitar and amp that I never used, got a good price for it. Also got a great deal on a used wah pedal. Great used selection
Peter and John are great! Always very helpful and resourceful.
Nice joint. Good people. Classic old school guitar store vibe.
Knowledgeable! Friendly! Great used and new instruments!
Peter at Collar City Guitars is very knowledgeable and considerate. After correctly diagnosing and fixing an issue with the neck pickup on my guitar, he also took time to explain what was causing the problem. I highly recommend this guitar shop--parking is also not a problem on the street where the shop is located.
Great people...one of a kind shop...great antidote to Guitar Center.
John was very helpful in helping me pick out a guitar to learn on. Love this place and will definitely come back!
Friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!
Very helpful and knowledgeable service, I was very satisfied with prompt information about an acoustic guitar that I was not certain about .
Cool guys with great knowledge. They have gear in a wide price range, from solid, affordable beginner guitars to boutique showpieces and rare finds.
I love this shop. Staff are helpful and I get lots of complements on my Reverend guitar that I purchased here.
Employees are incredibly knowledgeable and super helpful. Never had an easier guitar experience in my life.
Solid joint, super helpful staff. Needed a jack nut of peculiar size replaced, and the staff literally helped with a smile.
Very helpful, my sons first getar, they had it all
Super helpful staff. Great little guitar shop
A nice little shop packed as full as it can get
Great work by a nice staff, they set up my strat while I waited and did an excellent job.
They donated an instrument to the 19th Annual Travers Wine Tasting Event. Peter is very kind!
Great and friendly service but limited hours
Awesome boutique guitar store..some really cool finds!
This what a guitar shop should be. Theres a Luthier in house who really knows his trade. I was in guitar center the same day, and they tried to sell me an obviously defective amp. Support your local businesses!
Peter is a Super Nice Guy who cares about his customers, and has a great Guitar Shop!
Best guitar shop around.
Always a great place to stop in, Peter & John are awesome to deal with!
Cool looking store
Always has what we need, at the right price!
Phenomenal folks to work with!
Small friendly music shop
