Ive shopped here for years but recently found out theyre just fine ordering transphobic books for clients despite the fact that they pretend to be an LGBT-friendly space. Im really disgusted and will never come back. Dont pretend to be something youre not, especially involving minorities that are facing such difficulty in life already- youre contributing by spreading hate. Do better.

Ordered a book online and they were super nice when I picked it up :) the process was easy peezy and quick. They have limited capacity due to the pandemic and are allowing in-store shopping now, but you need to check in at the door before just going in. I was able to be helped without having to go in, its just a little awkward because the sidewalk is busy and of course more customers are also walking up😅

Antigones has been a iconic locally owned business for decades. Its a go to for gifts and gift certificates. Its such a joy to go and browse for an hour or so. Youll definitely find something that speaks to you: books, journals, calendars, jewelry, stickers, prayer flags, t-shirts,... You name it! I love Antigones.

Fun little adult hide out. Outdoor dining and drinks among cool murals (big one by Pagac) plus misters. I really recommend getting a shot of whiskey added to the house made strawberry soda at the bar as you walk in. Spice box is great too for Indian food (though if you really like spice tell them as their hot is more medium). Super friendly and can make you a vegan option if you ask.

A rarity these days; an independent book store that supports the community and in turn is supported by a city that appreciates that personal touch. Besides books, Antigone carries clothing, cards, journals, souvenirs of all kinds and myriad other things I cant think of right now. A great place to browse, youll surely find something or somethings to catch your interest and make you glad you stopped by.

Antigone Books is a Tucson landmark and a mainstay of Tucsons historic 4th Avenue. It has a funky, eclectic vibe and features great books for a diverse audience. They also have an excellent selection of childrens books and a sweet little reading nook for kids.In addition to being a wonderful place to discover new great reads, Antigone also boasts a wide array of interesting and one-of-a-kind gifts, cards, and other novelties. They also consistently sell Tibetan prayer flags. Some recommendations for shoppers at Antigone Books - calendars, journals, finger puppets, snarky tinned candy, dolls based on historical figures, and some great ideas for gifts for crazy cat ladies. If you have friends or family who are close minded and homophobic, I am confident that you will be able to source a book from Antigone Books that might be able to truly offend their Christian sensibilities. Similarly, if you have some overly aggressive macho types who believe in the servitude and subservience of women, there are some books that might really push them over the edge.I would be bereft if Antigone shut down. Please support your local bookstore and shop local!

Its a nice place and they have a cute cat that wonders around. However the selection is limited to very narrow viewpoints of the world. I expect a bookstore to carry a wide range of points of view, but rather theyll only carry books that support their narrow political viewpoint. When I was there, there were plenty of books pushing socialism, and carry authors such as Tom Piketty, Kendi, Robin DeAngelo, but not a single book I found by Milton Friedman or Thomas Sowell or any of the other free market thinkers. I guess if you align with them politically, its definitely a cool place to go, but they shouldnt call themselves a bookstore, they should be honest about what their store is: propaganda.

My name is Roger Browning and I am a writer. I search out book stores in my travels, because thats just my love. My son is serving in the Air Force there and on my visit, I found this store. It was just before Christmas, in a time precovid. I loved it. I was able to rummage through titles, while my wife searched through books and stocking stuffers for the grandkids. She even found socks I believe. Anyway, back to the books. Such a selection and I even walked away with a title to add to my ever expanding library. The worker there at the time so nice and was very helpful in my search. Visit this beautiful corner store and be sure to support your independent owner. They need you now more than ever and as much as you need them. My name is Roger Browning and my new novel is about a troubled modern ranching family in Texas. A story of inheritance and raising gone terribly wrong and its title for your searching is The Reckoning of Rance, now out on Amazon. I hope you find it and I hope its one you will enjoy.

I cant think of anyone I wouldnt be able to find a present for at Antigone. They have tons of cute journals, home decor, clothes, kids toys, art, and accessories. This is definitely a queer- and feminist-friendly space, but its a welcoming environment for all. Plus, the staff are always ready to help and seem to really love their jobs. I hope I am not being too foreward with my introduction, but I like your preface. *yuk yuk* In all honesty, Antigone is everything you need in a local bookstore, the owners go out of their way to show their love of books AND community. (Hey ladies! You rock!)Antigone will register your book club (if you dont have one, I got chu) and provide discounts on your book club picks each month, for the entire group! Not only this, they also provide punch cards (for each $10 spent)!! I love me some good deals, especially if it covers (ha get it?!) my reading addiction. There is something about holding a book in your hands physically, and flipping each page (my poor Kindle would cry if she could read this). I love growing my collection, and supporting local. The atmosphere is so cozy and comfortable, and the staff is always eager to help!Ill leave you with a story... yesterday a book fell on my head. I only have my shelf to blame.;)
