Not a lot of selection and all the stocking carts in the aisles made it impossible to grab items! Some dollar generals are great, this is not.

I love this store, the employees are great and never judge me for my items when checking out. As someone who often buys 10-30 boxes of hot cheetos for my weekly cheeto bath, I often get some strange looks, BUT NOT HERE! Theses guys are great!

It never fails every week I shop here and they either have 1 or 2 twelve packs of POP their brand (Clover Valley Cola) or they have NONE at all!! This has been going on for a while now and this goes for all the local stores in my area. Every time I ask an employee its the same answer, we have nothing to do with the ordering, what ever is on the truck when it gets to the store is what we get! WILL THIS EVER BE FIXED??? I HOPE SO!!

Store has set hours, but employees decide when to open. Sometimes 7 some times 8 most times 10. Then different closing times as well. They are nice and kind but not a reliable store. Don’t hire employees that can’t work your stores set hours.Dollar general RT 6.

The 4 STARS are for one employee, who I regrettably did not get her name. This young woman was extremely helpful and went out of her way to assist my husband and I. If not for her, I would have only given 1 star. The store had a terrible odor.

I visited this location this morning and I was pleasantly surprised of the diversity. Store had empty shelves but product everywhere on pallets waiting to be stocked. My guess is they are in need of more staff. Otherwise kudos to the two staff I saw, they were very helpful and personable. The cashier even reminded me of items they had 50% off and I grab a few of the items during check out.

The customer service at the store is the poorest I’ve dealt with add a dollar general and it’s really unfortunate that there’s so many people out there out of work and the people they get to work don’t want to do their jobs

The dank, rancid sour smell walking through the front doors is enough to drive you away. Been this way for weeks and nothing has changed. If its not essential, I wont be stopping here...

Neither great nor awful... Out of a lot of items, isles need work, workers are awesome though! Poor things need help around there

Its okay when they open on time. I stood out side for 5 min. No body was home I guess. The time was 845 am to 855 am, the hour sheet on the door said opens at 8am. Like ALL Dollar general stores in this Northwest Indiana, stock was all over the place and needed to be shelved (a hot mess) disorganized, employees are taken advantage of bc they are expected to stock and cashier. Could you imagine all convenient stores doing that??? Waiting for a butcher and they are putting meat on shelves, and then come behind the counter to place your order. Expects hand sanitizer to get rid of all germs lol. Yeah.... its okay👍🏼

When this store opened last year it was very clean, organized and had many items that other comparable stores didnt. This last week it was a disaster inside. Couldnt walk through the rows, boxes of stock everywhere, dumped out on floor, it was just a mess and was disappointing. A customer spilled a large bottle of juice in the floor in front of the register and the store clerk and she never cleaned it up. Kept taking customers and watching them walk through the juice. Even a handicapped patron with a walker. What a shame. This was a great store. Disgusted. Wont go back

I love a good DG the Portage store doesnt have the products like the Hobart store thats my favorite! Always finding what I want. The Valpo store on Rt 6 was nice as well.

Always a MESS. Always. But the staff are nice.

The store is great and Im grateful they built it in that location, but the older man behind the counter can take a bright and sunny day mood and turn it into toilet paper re-used after a bad case of the runs! Seriously, I never encountered someone so obnoxiously irritating with such a bad attitude. Like hes so miserable that his only happiness is saying little last word come backs. I dont know, maybe its me.... I think I left Levins Tire in Valpo that day!

This new store opened a few months ago. It is at a very convenient location for this area of relatively new homes. Its very clean, friendly staff and good stocked shelves.

Place was a mess, boxes everywhere, no organization.

Sells out scarce items. NO limits. One person takes the entire shipment. Greedy people. Greedy person gets sold 24 items.

So I was in this store on 1~27~2020 and 1~28~2020 each time I told them they have expired milk. They told me they knew, for it being a new store you would think that this kind of thing wouldnt happen. I mean you would get credit from the vendor for expired products. I would never buy anything to eat here without making sure it is NOT expired first, because they do not care...

The old guy is really grumpy and rude for no reason I told him I didnt want my change and he continued to try to force me to take it. Im pretty sure if I needed the change I wouldnt be giving straight 100s to you.

Shelves and coolers are completely empty every time I am there. I will no longer shop there.

I love this new dollar general, but they need to work on merchandising the store.
