My family and I went to buy some loose Pokemon cards that my sons were interested in. The cards that they wanted were very random and consisted of Pokemon using all different energies as well as Trainers. The owner Jester was there and he was extremely helpful, helping us find over 30 of the cards that they were looking through by going through binders and loose cards in a box, which was extremely tedious. Weve been to many Gamers Worlds where the employees running the store seem like they couldnt care less about their customers. We were fortunate to have the exact opposite experience here and want to thank Jester so much for his kindness and patience!
Very disappointed with my experience today at the Gamers World in Vernon Hills. Signs everywhere stating entire store is buy two get third for 50% off. My son was buying two individual Pokémon cards that were $4 each. I told him he could get a third for $2 with their sale. When he went to buy it came out to $12. My son asked about the sale sign and the employee said there is an asterisk that if excludes Pokémon cards.I mentioned that I didn’t see that and went to check. The sign only says it excludes Cards of Humanity. The employee said that some of the signs were updated but couldn’t show me any that actually did exclude playing cards. Even the sign on the glass case next to the cards my some was buying did not have the exclusion of trading cards.Having worked in customer service centric businesses I told him that honoring sales is one of the most basic things and that he should update his signs. When I went over to look at one of the signs he followed me from out from the behind the counter and told me he didn’t deal with bullies and I could go elsewhere if I wanted.I let my son by the two cards he wanted, and the employee did at one point say he could take a dollar off but my son wanted to keep to his $10 budget. The employee was well aware that I was unsatisfied; I mentioned I’d be writing this review and he accused me of extortion. I wasn’t trying to take a $20 discount or anything, just $2 - honor the sale signs posted is all I was asking so that my son could stay within his budget.$2 is so little to make me so upset but it’s really the bottom line of poor customer service and not standing by your offers. A quick, I’m sorry, you’re right, our signs don’t have the exclusion of playing cards, I’ll honor the $2 discount is what should be expected.
This wasnt what I expected it to be but its good for a small store. They had bored games and some magic cards but this place is over priced for most of their items.
Shelves are empty, low inventory. Did not feel welcome there as the only store employee followed us around like we are thieves(middle aged and dressed business casual.
This place is really going downhill in the past couple years went in here recently theres barely anything left on the shelves and just looks like in general disrepair.
Fun game store! Especially if you like board games or play trading card games, this store is for you. Also, they play a game here called Vanguard and I have never seen anywhere else in the United States play this game.
Big location and yet the store always looks empty. Theres barely any merchandise and when I check like a month or 2 later, the shelves are just as empty with no new products. You would think a game and CARD shop that sells individual CARDS would I dont know maybe sell packs and booster boxes but no spend your money elsewhere building decks from other stores but by all means come here for the game events. Thats all this location seems to care about are the events where it seems they forget they are also a store.
They should call this place I live in my moms basement world
Has several game options. Has gaming events that very based on days. Schaumburg location has board games on Mondays 6-9 and Vernon Hills, Wednesday 6-9. The staff is pretty friendly. You get discounts for participating in gaming events and for tea Hing others how to play games. Very clever of the owner/managers to open the store up and get people to come in through gaming events.
Its cool. I know some of the employees and theyre very nice people. They let us stay for D&D and card games as late as we want.
One of my favorite malls. My son asks me to go in here all the time, never fails hahaha but no complaints i enjoy making him happy.
Great place, fair prices, generous buying. Dana is awesome. Well be back. Kids love it.
Gamers WorldThis is a large gaming store in Hawthorn Center mall. The store carries a lot of games and has an area where you can play with other people in the back. The staff was friendly and answered all of my questions and was not pressuring me to buy anything. This is kid friendly and has a lot to offer.

For a game store in a suburban shopping mall, pretty darn baller. Good selection, actual nice helpful employees, minimal attitude.
Bought about 25 dollars worth of pokemon online codes from this store and over 20 of them were used already......great going
Great for gamers. Had a lot of unusual board games. Definitely worth checking out.
Very helpful staff and well kept store.
Really friendly and buys mtg and Pokémon cards for really good prices
I used to stop by here anytime I was in the area. The last few times its been half bare shelves and a random assortment of plaques with pictures of sports figures. There are enough game stores in the area (Wauconda, Grayslake, Gurnee) just skip this one.
Cool worker, good place to visit
Great cards and fun games to play and meet new people
Has some good board games.
With a dwindling stock I suspect the Vernon hills location is not long for this world. They didnt even have the latest Mtg set for purchase.
Was ok for a mall joint.
Great magic cards
Interesting place
