Great customer service. They didnt have the type of bike I wanted assembled and within an hour or two the had it assembled so I can try it out. I eventually bought it as it was a good fit for me. Thank you again

Recently I purchased new bike shoes up there and I didnt check in the store how they works with my clip pedals. My mistake, second trip to the store and quick adjustment to the spring pedal. They answered all my questions, all my options, adjustments while U wait. Highly recommend this place.

The best customer service! I came in 9 months after purchasing my bike there for a problem I was having with bike seat twisting despite us tightening it repeatedly. They showed me what I was doing wrong and how it was the bike seat stem that was loose, not the seat. They corrected the problem for me. Then they helped me purchase a water bottle holder and recommended where I should install it. Wonderful customer service! I can tell that everyone loves their job and love the public that they deal with. Everyone should buy their bikes there. They wont regret it.

I am new to the area so wasnt sure where to take my bike for repair. After reading the great reviews for Orchid Island Bikes and Kayaks I decided to take it there, and I wasnt disappointed. I was welcomed immediately and they identified the problem quickly. It was fixed and serviced within 24 hours. I would definitely recommend them for their friendliness, expertise, efficiency and value for money.

Every time I have gone into this store, I’ve had good experiences! I just bought a bike from them (I know, crazy during this time in a worldwide bike shortage) and had a rough idea of what I wanted. They had just received a shipment of bikes but they weren’t built yet. I was told it may take a couple of days for them to build but they called me back in a few hours and now I have a very beautiful bike that rides so smoothly. They also said I could get a free tune up in a few months!

My experience there involved looking at a bike which I did not buy there, and then months later looking at Kayaks and buying one there along with related equipment. They are what a dealer of this sort should be. Good selection, and a knowledgeable, helpful, low pressure sales staff (including the owner himself). After-sale experience was also good. Highly recommended.

Update: these guys called me up and delivered a new bike an hour after I left the review, below. Great service, thanks guys!Rented a trek bike here for a week, for a little under $100. I wanted to try the bike out before potentially purchasing. The bike was delivered with bald tires, a rusted chain, poor brakes, and gears that were not very smooth. The bike looked as though it was left outside for a year, got rusted, and they did zero maintenance on it to get it into a safe, rideable, and enjoyable condition. I was very surprised that a legitimate bike shop would rent out a bike in this condition. Lube the chain, at the very least, and replace the bald tires. To their credit, I have not brought this up to their management team; so if they respond appropriately I may change this rating.

I hadn’t ridden a bike in many years and they were super helpful. Explained different types of bikes and let me test ride them. Very friendly and patient. With their help I found the perfect bike. Service department is awesome too. I will be bringing my bike there for regular maintenance. Truly a pleasure shopping there.

Nice group but be careful. In march I had a down payment to get a Hobie Tandem Island in April. They force 50% down. So due to some financial issues I came to get my deposit back. They charged a restocking fee to cover credit card costs. To me its wrong to force me to lose money for something I never received. Especially because of the amount. I wouldnt have this problem if they only wanted $100 for the deposit.Initially over the phone they were going to take the hit. Not in person. So I will buy a Hobie likely in a year or less but I will not go to them since I have already lost $400 without a single purchase. That is some of the worse customer service I have ever seen.

It was our first time in and my husband’s bike wheel needed repaired. The staff assisted me immediately, quickly assessed and diagnosed the issue and explained my options. They replaced the wheel quickly with ease and skill, all while being super friendly. Exceptional service and we will for sure be back with any service needs we may have.

I bought a Hobie PA 17T from these guys and Joe really helped me out by helping me get the boat on my trailer and ensuring that it was secure before I left. The other staff (Cindy) seemed super friendly, helpful and engaging. I would definitely shop here again. I would have them given 5 stars if someone would have offered to do a walk through of the boat with me.

Needed a good tune-up. Chain kept slipping off when changing gears, handle bars needed tightening, and needed a new seat. Now like a new bike. Very knowledgeable, professional, and prompt service! Happy as a clam! 😏

My wife’s Trek bicycle needed some attention, the tires were not holding air. I came in with the bike and was greeted immediately with offer to help.The Service Tech was asked about the issue and he offered to check for leaks. A few minutes later he recommended one tube be replaced. I asked for both and he got the job done in about 15 minutes.I can’t guarantee that they’ll always be able to be that fast but I got exactly what I needed and got back to my day. Awesomely attitudes by everyone including the owner, Malcolm Allen who said hello.

5 star experience. Every single person was helpful, took as much time as we needed, answered all question or found someone who could. Nothing was to big or small for them. We bought an electric trike and will be buying a 2 wheel very soon. They are busy so taking time like they did was amazing.

I really enjoyed my experience at orchid Island bikes and kayaks.. Ive been searching for days on the internet for a used kayak and I decided to go in there to see what I can find.. I went back to the kayak area and met Joe. I must have been there for about an hour and pretty much got every bit of the info that I could possibly ask about from Joe hes very knowledgeable on The kayaks just for the simple fact that hes been on every single one that they ever sell so he has a very wide range on what would work for who when they come in looking for a kayak.. I straight went in the next day and bought a kayak and asked for Joe when I went in.. he totally made the sale the day before and I absolutely knew it I had to go back in the next day to make my purchase and even on a windy day the following morning I had to try my new kayak out the wind beat me to death but I was absolutely tickled about my new kayak and I really appreciate Joes honesty and knowledge.. he also goes out and lets people do a trial basis on The kayaks to see if thats exactly what they want before they buy it but I knew that whatever I picked I would be happy with.. he shot everything straight with me and I thought that was very awesome of him hes a very good worker hes dedicated to his job and hes a huge asset to orchid Island bikes and kayaks kudos to you Joe!!!! Leaving for camping/trail riding trip Christmas afternoon. Came in 3 days before Christmas needing service on my 10+ yr old mountain bike that was not shifting properly. Place was packed with customers. I hear, “can I help you” from a counter full of people. I explain my situation. A guy comes out to my Jeep, takes my bike inside, motions to a tech and they throw bike up on stand. In 5 minutes it was diagnosed, including chain, cassette and cables. He took all info and said they’ll try to have it by Christmas eave. The next day by 4:00pm I received a text that bike was ready. Out of there including service, new parts, labor, everything for less than a hundred bucks. In this day and age of bike shops that snub you if your not riding/racing one of their 5-10K plus bikes, it was refreshing to walk in, get waited on immediately, talk to a knowledgeable tech, get the job done quickly and out the door at a reasonable price. All of your staff I encountered were friendly, professional, and just plain on it! Thank you. You have just earned a new customer.

Very helpful shop. I drove 2.5 hours to get my bike which was sold out everywhere. They assembled it for me within the hour. There was never any high-pressure sales pitches or anything like that. Couldnt recommend this shop enough. Thanks!

I arrived with two bikes which were shipped to me from Indiana (disassembled) in the mist of a pandemic with lots of back work in the repair shop.NO PROBLEMIn just a few days, both we’re reassembled perfectly. Many thanks for helping us out. Next year, instead of mailing bikes down, I’ll just buy a new one from you guys.You’re the best!

Place is one mistake after another. Customer beware. Their answer to me telling them my knee hurt after them lowering my seat unbeknownst to me was: You rode it that way? Not: Im so sorry. Who measures their seat height before and after it goes to the shop? What? I found out after I rode it and experienced knee pain. Then I measured it. Who sends out a bike with no air in the tires? Who reversers the customers brake lines? Mix ups and mistakes happen. These folks seem to have/make a bunch of them. Its cool though, cause as I was told: We have many happy customers. Ok, but you failed this one multiple times.

OIB&K had the Electra Townie I was looking for while my #1 regular Townie is being rebuilt at a competitors shop. I ride 26-miles daily so my bikes get used a lot. Thank god there was one available and the tall is actually more comfortable than my regular version. These bikes are great for exercise and beach (A1A) cruising. Im not into being bent over and Im not doing the Tour-de-France. If you want a comfort ride for daily exercise, get a Townie. Orchid did a great job getting mine put together fast and off I went.

I was very happy with my experience at Orchid Island Bikes and Kayaks. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and it was a pleasure purchasing my bike there. They made sure it fit me and took a lot of time teaching me about the bike and getting it fit to my needs. They follow up on what they say. I had called awhile back and they promised to call when they got what I was looking for in stock and they did. Store was clean and they had lots of choices as well as accessories. The people who work there make it a GREAT place.

Went into Orchid Bikes looking for a cruiser. I was greeted by a sales person who provided information on the cruiser and hybrid bikes. He asked what type of riding I was planning and explained the different features of the bikes. He took 2 bikes out for me to try. After a few rides I chose the Townie bike, it offered me a comfortable ride allowing me to keep my back straight and no discomfort on my knees or hips with the foot forward designI love my Townie! I highly recommend Orchid Bikes and Kayaks.

I purchased a new recumbent trike after much research and looking at various sources and I found that my local shop was my best choice offering excellent service and quite a number of choices. I would recommend Orchid Island Bikes and Kayaks to family and friends if they are considering a purchase of a bicycle, kayak or accessories for these items.

My husband had placed a deposit at another local bike shop the second week of November for our child bike for Christmas. My husband was told the bike would come in Dec 3rd. My husband called to follow up and they told him the bike would not come in until Feb 2021 ! With Christmas right sound the corner we were worried that we would have no bike. My husband called Orchid Island Bikes after 5 pm when he got off work the store was closed but God is good and Malcolm the owner happened to pick up ! Malcolm checked and verified they had the bike in stock !!! I called the next business day and placed a deposit for the bike and spoke to Malcolm who was fantastic !!! He had our bike built and ready in 1 day for pick up ! Thank you Malcolm and all your staff !!! Everyone was courteous !!! Thank you to the young man who placed our bike in my trunk ! I have purchased a Hobie kayak and have had all of our bikes serviced here as well. When walking through the door and being greeted with in seconds you can tell this is a top notch operation. Orchid Island Bikes has provided my son with great bikes and service over the years. They have quality products at competitive prices and go the extra mile for their loyal customers. My son in Miami broke his rear derailleur hanger. All the regular suppliers - including Trek dealers - did not have the hanger in stock. I made a call to Orchid and they had it! They shipped it to the Miami bike shop so that my son can get back riding. Thank you to Michael at Orchid Island.

It’s always a pleasant experience with the professionals at Orchid Island. We love our new mountain bike. They helped guide us on which model would be best for the local parks that are bit sandy. The Trek Roscoe is perfect. We also love our Hobie mirage kayaks. Peddle kayaks are the way to go!

Went looking for an electric bike. They were great, spent all afternoon with us until we found the right bikes and adjusted them so we were perfectly comfortable.

I put a deposit down on my bike and drove down from Myrtle Beach. Over the phone I received great customer service and was able to ask several questions without feeling like I was bothering the guy. My experience when I arrived to pickup the bike wasnt as good. In the past, dealing with my local Trek dealer, the bike seat height is checked based on my height. They quickly run through the components of the bike and have me ride it outside with an employee standing by to make sure Im satisfied. In this case when I showed up the bike was rolled to me, my money was taken and I was handed a receipt. It was only after I got into the parking lot and realized the wrong tires were on it and I went back in that anyone spoke 2 sentences to me and that was the guy from the back... i forget his name but hes the guy that orders everything and he was great. He said he put in a order through Trek to have the correct tires sent to my home which im 50/50 on whether or not ill ever receive.

A very friendly and knowledgeable salesman asked a few questions about my riding style and instantly he knew what bike was perfect for me. I didn’t realize it just then but it was the perfect bike for me and it was much more affordable than I had anticipated.At no point did he try to upsell me or point me to the more expensive line of bikes.Through the whole sales process he had answers and recommendations for all of my questions.I have had the same experience in the kayak section of the store as well. No pressure sales, just friendly assistance and answers.Can’t be more impressed with my experience at this store.

I visited the store today. I am in the market for a new kayak paddle. I spent maybe 10 minutes in the store. There wasn’t much of a selection. I understand it’s been difficult to get new stock with Covid-19 knocking out most manufacturing facilities. That’s not the reason for the two star. The gentleman working the kayak section pretty much ignored me. He was putting together roof racks. He didn’t even get up just spoke from the floor. I wanted to buy local, I didn’t even care that it would take 6 weeks to get a paddle but some customer service would have been nice. Thankfully, another gentleman noticed me and greeted me. I decided to purchase elsewhere.
