I am what you would call the opposite of a jewelry person. I would not know a hunk of metal from the most prized gem in the world but my mother was huge into jewelry. When she passed away and left a bunch to me, I came to Cameo with it. After spending a chunk of time with the super-friendly appraiser, I left feeling assured I was compensated more than fairly. A bunch of my jewelry-loving friends confirmed I was right.

I had been frequenting another similar establishment whose name I will not mention when a co-worker turned me on to Cameo. Immediately the well-stocked showroom spoiled me for anywhere else. I have been back many times and that well stocked state is consistent. This is definitely the place to be for collectables.

I found some coins when I was at this yard sale so I wanted to see if they were any good. Some places I went to they tell me they worth just $100 but my sense said to go somewhere else. I have been going to Cameo coins for several years and have never had a bad experience. I find there store well stocked with inventory that is fairly priced and many times they will adjust prices downward. Staff are nice guys who know the coin business and I’ve always seen them interact positively with their clients. On a recent visit I commented that I travelled to Canada frequently on business and they asked if I would be interested in buying Canadian coins and currency they had stockpiled at a reasonable price. They sold over 600 dollars of Canadian currency to me at over twenty percent less than exchange rate value. Plus ....there was a significant amount of coins and old bills that had numismatic value that I sold to a coin store in Toronto . These guys have always been helpful and very fair. Getting a good rate for my latest coins was already impressive. They had a couple of the rare ones I was desperate to find too. I grabbed them at a fair price very quickly.

The man that is here is very nice along with the store because it is clean and bright. I have been collecting coins for maybe thirty years and Im 62 years old. They have experts in all types of coins from US coins to valuables and those kind of things. I know that there are more of a higher end coin shops so sometimes they say its something but those places will lie and cheat you. Don’t go there. Go only to Cameo Coins and Collectables.

I began coin collecting with my grandfather while I was a child. When I got older, and lost him to age, he left me his collection to add to mine. His collection had some rare finds, but it also gave me duplicates of some we collected together. I brought those duplicates in here and got a great price for them.

I had been slowly adding to my coin collection since I was a young child. I won’t elaborate but let me just say that it is possible for anyone to fall upon hard times. While I was not thrilled to part with my collection, that is what I needed to do. Being new to the area I had never been to Cameo but I certainly knew how much my collection was worth. I did not immediately let on how knowledgeable I was as sort of a test to their honesty. Let me tell you, they passed the test with flying colors.

I was forced to sell my grandfathers collection to cover unexpected medical bills before he passed. They identified several unique ones they could pay me a little more for and thanks to their knowledge and generosity, I didnt have to sell his whole collection.

After reading the reviews of Cameo and other coin dealers in Northern Virginia and after a very pleasant telephone conversation with Harry at Cameo, I literally emptied on the counter the contents of several coffee cans of coins and paper money collected over two generations. Harry sorted through the pile quickly, identifying items of more than face values and even gave me some background on the rarer, more interesting items. When he finished, he offered me a breakdown of the value of each group of collectible items and offered me much more money for many more items than I expected. As for non-collectibles, I could spend them at their face value.I highly recommend Cameo Coins and Collectibles for anyone needing to sell coins. Although i didnt buy any coins or collectibles at this visit, I noticed several happy people, clearly return customers, buying.

I took in a large number of Krugerrands that my father had given me years ago. These coins and others were examined quickly and professionally and I was given a very fair offer. (I had done my research so I knew the value. ) The staff there was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable and the atmosphere pleasant. I left with a large check, feeling happy and successful. I sold my old boyhood coin collection to this company. They gave me a fair price for it and explained why they priced things as they did. I asked how I could continue collecting and they gave me a short tutorial on the kinds of collectors there are and I decided (at Johns advice) to be a type collector. That was almost a year ago. This turned out to be the best thing they could have done for me. When I buy or sell here they treat me fairly. I compare their prices to a wide variety of sellers and they always are among the lowest for the item offered. I am so thankful I walked into this store. They renewed my joy of collecting and continue to educate me besides.

Horrible appraisal. Went there they looked at it for 10 seconds and told me 75$ for a cameo with a real diamond. Go to another place and get 800$ for it. Would not recommend!!

I have visited Cameo on a couple of occasions to sell some coins, gold and silver jewelry that I no longer wanted to keep. I found the staff to be extremely easy to work with and fair in their prices offered. They know their stuff.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!Their alleged stamp expert took five seconds to look over a dozen pages of my stamps, including late 1800/early 1900 George Washington stamps, and without pause stated they were worthless because they were canceled. When I tried to state that two cent-canceled George Washington stamps were indeed valuable, auctioned for big money frequently online, questioning their expertise, I couldn’t get a word in so I hung up. They called me back belittling me because I hung up, stating all they needed was five seconds to evaluate “junk”. Worst customer ever! Enough said.

This visit was the fourth place we traveled to with coins and heirloom jewelry to be sold in a family estate settlement. One of the best coin dealers Ive dealt with. On the retail side, they are my go-to place if I am looking for some coins or bullion to add to my stack or at an impasse on my Ebay sales. Other places Ive visited were more short staffed, and often never looked at anything unless you arrived in some random 3 hour window to meet an elusive owner. Prices were fair, and the selection is pretty good.

I go to coin stores for one reason and that is to buy coins – and Cameo has an excellent array of them – from lesser grades to top of the line. And that has kept me coming back to them time after time. The owner buys at coin shows and the store has a voluminous clientele supplying them with US, world and ancient coins in addition to US & world paper currency.

I brought in a coin collection I inherited after my parents passed away. Cameo did a great job of efficiently sorting and appraising the collection and then making a fair offer to purchase the collection, which I accepted. The staff was friendly and helpful all along the line. Judging from the reviews here and on Yelp, it seems that customers experience is dependent upon the staff member you encounter. My own experience was that this was the worst Ive ever had, and I hastily left because I was bullied, chastised and threatened. I can understand that the staff is knowledgeable and professional, and I respect that and feel that I demonstrated appropriate respect. I was aggressively told to get out, shut up and my son who accompanied me was invited to take it outside when we expressed that we were not going to accept your initial offer on a few pieces. Ive done this before, and I know the deal. This is purely a business transaction and I appreciate that. I went into this establishment with a clear understanding that this is strictly business. I dont expect empathy or hand-holding when I hand over items that have been in my family for generations. I dont expect anywhere near the current appraised value. I get it. However, I sure dont expect that I would fear for my safety when I go to a business of this sort. I can understand that the staff may have personal issues or triggers, but good heavens this was pure hell for me. I thought we would have a discussion about the totality of what I brought in once you saw it, but you immediately halted the process once I didnt accept the offer on the few pieces you looked at. My understanding is that this is a business, and both parties negotiate. What I have is my property, and I will not be bullied into handing it over. If Im not comfortable with accepting your offer, then convince me. I think Ive extended every iota of consideration and compassion I have here, and while I can appreciate what others go through, I really have to say that I was traumatized by my treatment at this establishment. I have tried to take into account the difficulties you may encounter and honor and appreciate you. You have clearly demonstrated that you are not able to engage in any discussion whatsoever. I suspect this is based on experience, but I must say that the way you conducted business with me personally was unprofessional and unacceptable.

Quick, transparent and fair transaction for a hodgepodge of old US coins that had been forgotten about. Took the time to explain methods of valuation, I enjoyed the education. Recommended for coins and other antiques, they handle toys, weapons, comics, etc.

If you need to sell your gold or silver, this is the place.The are straight forward with the buy and sell pricing, always based around spot.They also understand the premium placed on US Eagle coins.Ive tried other coin dealers and get the run around on pricing...spot + % + $1.50. What is that? One dealer would not give me a price until he saw my silver eagles, even after I told him they were not numismatics, they were not rare or collectible. Did not matter.....I highly recommend Cameo Coins for friendly, straight forward business transactions.

Unlike some LCDs (local coin dealers) Cameo Coins & Collectibles buys stuff at a fair price and sells stuff at a fair price. I am talking she had a couple of big hand fulls of fractional coins she wanted to convert to 1 ounce American Gold Eagles to simplify things. The staff at Cameo Coins & Collectibles went through the entire bag one coin at a time telling her which ones were melt value and which coins were numismatic and worth more. They could have just tossed all of my wifes coins on a scale and weighed them as many stores do. Come to think of it, some years ago she took the same coins to another local coin dealer who went through all of her coins and told her all of her coins were just melt-value-coins.Cameo Coins & Collectibles have a seemingly endless selection of coins in all price ranges. Several times I went in to buy gifts for family members. I would just tell Harry my price range and about the giftee and Harry would find the perfect gift in a way I can only describe was as a magical as watching a magician pulling a rabbit out of his hat.Cameo Coins & Collectibles also does great jewelry work. My wife had jewelry worked on. Earrings and rings repaired and the jeweler did a perfect job for a fraction of what 2 Vienna jewelry stores would charge. I am talking it was about 40%. Cameo Coins charged about $80 and other stores wanted about $200.Every time I go in they know I mostly just buy an American SILVER Eagle coin, but they welcome me as if I was purchasing a American GOLD Eagle coin. They are not snobby if you dont spend a certain large amount of money as some stores are.They also have a nice collection of jewelry and other collectibles.I used to go to coin shows and order from Apmex, but since I discovered Cameo Coins & Collectibles I stopped because this business establishment has everything I desire in a local coin dealer as I have mentioned.On a side note, when I walk out their door I always feel extra happy knowing I not only did not get gouged, but I also supported a local family owned business.

Based on a recommendation, I recently took a small suitcase filled with a random collection of coins that were saved over the years by my relatives to Cameo Coins. Rolls of dimes, collectible coins, bags of buffalo nickels, and more. Even though it was a busy Saturday, Cameo Coins took the time to sort through all of the coins and determine their value - it was amazing to watch them in action as they obviously are very knowledgeable and able to quickly identify which coins had value and which I should just spend. What I thought would be a difficult and stressful situation (determining the coin value and selling them) was completed within about 30 minutes!Then a few days later, I received a call from Chip Sullivan telling me that when they went back through the collection of coins, they found a few that were worth more than they originally thought - so he had another check waiting for me! I took my coins in and the guy didn’t even take the coins out of the clear sandwich bags to examine them, Gave me a price. Of course I didn’t take it. I’m sure like the others he’ll say his price was fair. I wanted someone to take a closer look but I guess I wasn’t worth it. don’t even deserve one star from me but you have to give one to post.That pocket change was as old as you but I get it, I was not worth your time so for me still 1 star.

Ive been a customer of Cameo for a while. Ive looked around at other dealers, looked online, and studied the market for precious metals and collectible coins. If youre buying coins or bullion, its important to have a relationship with a good dealer because then you have someone to sell your stuff back to when the time comes. Ive found the folks at Cameo to be direct, professional, and polite. If youre serious about buying or selling, this is a great place to do it. If youre looking for an education, and dont really intend to do business, look stuff up online, folks -- dont ask a small businessperson to give you hours of education for nothing. I think some of the negative reviews come from people who werent really -- or didnt appear to be -- serious about doing business. If youve ever had a business yourself you know how frustrating it is when people who really dont plan to do business want you to spend a considerable amount of time educating them so they can go somewhere else. As I said, if youre serious about buying or selling, this is a good place to do it.

Owner is completely disrespectful, I walked in with several coins and the owner acted like I was wasted his time, instead of giving me a price he replied I need to move on to more important business !. The first time I visited Cameo Coins and Collectables was in 2012; as the time had come to part with silver dinnerware sets, stamp collections, coins and other items of value. The customer service extended to me encompassed a mixture of expertise, honesty, sound guidance and a genuine concern for my situation. The results were excellent; I am a loyal customer to this day.During my first visit, Mr. John Sullivan took the time to explain the value of my items and spent considerable time listening to my reasons for showing up at his store. He provided an honest appraisal and explained how the process works, and he paid a very fair price for the items. I experienced the same results with stamps and other items of value; as Cameo Coins has experts on hand to evaluate these as well. Over the years - John, Chip, Mark, Harry and the entire staff continue to take the time to help me, doing so with respect and care. On multiple occasions the staff went above and beyond on my behalf, and John even took time to teach me about precious metals – which has proved to be invaluable. We have developed a professional friendship which has extended to his son, Chip, thus whenever I have needed an appraisal, help with understanding values or simply want to purchase bullion - they are there to help.Something I like about Cameo Coins and Collectables is that everyone enjoys what they do, the store is always busy, very clean and well organized. There are always a variety of items to purchase from coins to comics to historical memorabilia. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I know nothing about coins and brought some in to find out about value and walked out with a nice wad of cash without feeling that I got ripped off. They took the time to show me internet listings of the coins I was selling to show me I was being given fair value for my coins. I will be using them again when I get the rest of my collection to Virginia.

It is rare that I leave a customer review but admit I use them often as a guide. After now making two trips to Cameo Coin and selling a large number of my high grade Morgan collection (GSAs, and PCGS and NGC holdered coins, mostly Carson City dates), I rate Cameo Five Stars. I have been an avid collector but recently decided it was time for me to part with most of my collection. I considered Ebay and Heritage but found that their fees were way too high and the selling price was very unpredictable. I found John (senior manager and I believe owner), extremely fair in what he offered based on my own knowledge of fair market value minus fees. I also found him to be an amazing grader as he sorted through my coins. He was quick to see problem coins (and I agreed with him) which also tells me you are in great shape buying as he has an amazing eye. He elected not to buy them. Frankly, he can size up a coin in a spilt second. The other thing I wanted to share was that I sold him my very high end Carsons of every date that were mostly MS66 and MS 65 coins. Being a collector at heart I decided I wanted two of them back. I called him and he said that would be fine, whatever would make me happy. When I showed up he was very warm and friendly about changing my mind and extremely courteous. He is a great guy to talk with and seems open to share advice and answer questions. Again, 5 Stars for John and Cameo Coin!!!I made my third visit to Cameo Coin to sell 11 of my last GSA morgan dollars. Many of these were very rare and once again I was treated very fairly by John and Chip. Great guys to work with. I only wish I could leave more than five stars! Thanks again.

Selling off some old coin collections and they have been very fair in their offers. Also very knowledgeable and helpful in obscure items.

This store is the best Hobbie shop ive even been to. They prices are 10/10 for coins, their hot wheels are only 99 CENTS! And have a HUGE selection of coins and stamps! The Place is spectacular! Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays are the best days to go because of the nice, helpful and wise staff! They are great at telling you the value of coins especially! I collect a lot of hobbies! But coins are my favorite! One of the staff actually give me discounts on their coins!. If your into coins, stamps, 1 dollar 90s hotwheels, and lots of other cool stuff? GO their! BEST SHOP EVER! ☺

Always helpful, just need to slow them down sometimes. Once you have done business with them, they treat you well and will chat more.

Looking at all the reviews you would think this place is a coin collector haven. It is the opposite unfortunately. My first visit and last. It is a hole in the wall shop with about 6-8 people working in it. There are no sign identifying the store. Unfortunately i did not get the older gentlemen name who help me out. This man had a lazy eye, white hair, skinny, and was bald at the top. He was about 5-8 and looked around mid 60s. At first he was very professional with me not iratable or rude. The man: How can i help you today? Me: I was intrested in your appraisal proccesessand fees? The man: well it depends on what you have. I can give you free advice and take a look at them. Do you have them with you? So i go to my car and crab my collection. So i pull out the first bag of like coins. Off rip he says they are valued as marked. I asked if he was going to look at them individually, he response with i dont need to. So after this point i realized he was being iratable and rude. Rushing me to show him the next batch of coins. Half way through pulling out my coins i felt dissapointed and neglected. I gave up and started answering for the employee. I dont generally right reviews but this place was a real bad experience. I cant speak about the owners i didnt meet him. I just read he was coin collector and professional at his trade. His one employee on the other hand did not repersent that knowledge, care, and commitment with my encounter. I did my research and thats why i wanted them appraised so they can be looked at closely by proffessional. If anyone has question about this buissness send me a message. For the owner sorry man but your employee left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Overall vibe of the place is pawn shop pawn shop pawn shop. Be warned coin enthusiasts.
