We hired Altera Design for our Kitchen Remodel, and couldnt be happier. The decision was an easy one as they had done two bathroom remodels for us five years ago; we were thrilled with the work then, and felt confident we would be with the kitchen. We were proved right in our decision - for us, the extra cost versus just hiring a contractor is definitely worth it.Jim came to our home and helped us brainstorm all of the important elements to incorporate into the design. He had some ideas we never would have thought of. We were thrilled that he assigned the same crew to us that we had for our bathrooms. Amanda the designer then worked with us on the detailed design and worked with us to pick out all of the materials. She gave good ideas while following our vision for what we wanted, and helped find the materials and products to make our kitchen beautiful. Then the work was turned over to Oscar the general contractor and all of the subcontractors who got all of the work done. Everyone was very easy to work with, considering they were in our house every day for nine weeks. We have two dogs and the workers were very accommodating to the dogs. The project was done the day it was promised, which was very important to us. We are thrilled with how beautiful and functional our new kitchen is! I highly recommend Altera Designs to anyone contemplating a kitchen or bathroom remodel.
We used Altera Design to remodel our kitchen. I am a very detailed-oriented and particular person, and if I am pleased, then you can be sure that Altera did an excellent job. We were looking for a company that took care of all the major components of a remodel: planning and design, permits, securing contractors, demolition, installation, clean up, etc., while completing the work on time and within budget.. Altera is at the higher end of what you will pay, but well worth the money!
We a horrible experience with Altera during our 2016 kitchen remodel. Literally everything had to be done at least twice. My countertops are 2” higher than our contract. My friend designed the kitchen and all the Altera designer needed to do was lay it out and order cabinets and she measured the space wrong 2x. I caught all their mistakes. They forgot the location of our gas line and wanted to charge $2500 to have it moved, they had to order 2 sets of cabinets because they ordered the wrong ones the first time. It was a disaster start to finish. They did finish. They tried but did not manage to extract more money from us. It took 6 months rather than 8 weeks during which we had no kitchen and the front of our house is one big room: dining, kitchen, living so we had no living space at all much less food prep. Our cabinet doors are now starting to fall apart/paint discoloring, the shelves disintegrating, grout cracking (again) it cracked during the remodel & they “fixed” it. We don’t have kids, only 2 people who are minimalist and tidy. I would NEVER call Altera to tell them our issues. They are horrific. The only reason our project got done was due to our awesome project manager. Who quit Altera after 8 years at the end of our project. He was that disgusted. I kept daily notes, pictures, documentation of every meeting. It’s the only thing combined with our project manager that got the project finished.
The team at Altera Design & Remodeling is very impressive. Their experience and depth of knowledge are second to none. I highly recommend them!
We have just completed a complete remodel of our kitchen, using Alteras designers and contractors and could not be happier!!! We had heard nightmares about remodels and were braced for the worst. I had expected the usual delays, cost overruns, changes to the design, etc. NONE OF THAT HAPPENED!!Heres how it went...we met with Jim, the owner of Altera, and Amanda, who would be our designer. Once we decided to move ahead with Altera, we met regularly with Amanda to nail down all the details of the kitchen. She was incredibly detailed and thoughtful and presented us with some wonderful ideas. Amanda is a gem to work with and we couldnt be happier with the final design she produced. When the design was complete, we began work with the fabulous Sean as our project manager. He was there from day 1 and coordinated all the other trades that needed to come in to do plumbing, electric, painting, etc. His attention to detail is unreal and he continued to pick through every part of the kitchen to make sure everything was perfect. Our kitchen did indeed finish on time, within budget and with virtually no hassle (except, of course, for not having a functioning kitchen for a while). Its rare to work with a company these days where every last detail is taken care of. Altera is one of those companies. If you are in the market for a kitchen or bath remodel, rush to see them. Get on their schedule. Use them!
The design, construction, and customer services that Altera Design provided was superb. Our designer, Scott Powers, listened and understood what we like and wanted. And as a result, Scott was able to design a kitchen that we both love. Scott has a great sense of style and creativity. In regards of the construction work, we were totally satisfied with the workmanship that our project manager, Oscar Martinez, provided. Not only was his quality of workmanship excellent, but he was very respectful of our home and always cleaned up the work area and made sure our home was secured before we went home for the day. And after the kitchen remodel was completed, Operations Manager, Jennifer Rocha, paid us a visit and made sure that our needs and wants were met. And they were. We are so satisfied and happy on how our kitchen remodel turned out, my wife and I decided to have Altera Design and Remodeling redo our master and guest bathroom. So if you are looking for someone to deal with the hassle of designing your project, looking for materials, and finding a contractor, give Altera Design a call. Jim Vivrette and his staff are true professionals and their design, construction and customer service is top shelf.KenFairfield, CA.
My wife and I needed to have exterior work done on our Orinda home. Balustrades had to be torn of and a new wooden stair constructed as the one built in 2005 had rotted out due to poor construction.Jim Vivrette and his staff did an outstanding job for us. Everyone was very professional, communicated very well and scope changes were discussed and agreed to before work commenced. Steve April, who ran the day to day of the project, is a wonderful guy to work with as were all his sub trades. We are very proud of the work Altera has done for us and we would not hesitate to use them in the future and recommend them to anyone.
I bought some lovely bathroom tiles and I quite like them!
They didnt even pick my call. When they picked. Their manager talked to me rudely.
