Awesome selection of ice cream flavors, toppings, cones, literally anything ice cream-related that you could want is here. The serving sizes are also huge. The man working at the front is such a sweet person, too. Oh, and there’s outdoor seating, in case you have a dog or bike. I would definitely recommend this place and I’d go back again.
Decent ice cream in Georgetown. All the rich kids from the suburbs must not have ice cream because there is always a giant line.Prices are a little high but probably due to Georgetown neighborhood association. Also dietary restriction arent clearly marked or visible.Everyday Sundae on Kennedy street is vastly superior.
Very long lines, and a bit on the pricey side. I understand that the location adds to the price point of the ice cream but $8 for a milk shake, seemed a bit much. Overall the ice cream was good and the many options was plenty. Didnt try any of the fudge or the chocolate pastries. (This didnt effect the star rating, buy my daughter also has allergies to walnuts and ordered the brownie fudge Sunday. It was never advertised as having nuts, but after asking the clerk he confirmed it did have walnuts. Our fault as we let our guard down thinking it was just a brownie) With other ice cream eateries in the area with much shorter lines, if not no lines at all, they might be a better and cheaper choice. You decide.
I stumbled upon this place during the evening. There was a somewhat long line (long enough to where it stretched outside) but thats okay since Id really do anything for ice-cream. However, it did take some time as the shop seemed to be understaffed. When I received my ice-cream, it jumped out of the cone and bounced over my purse, trousers, and eventually onto the floor. I contemplated whether or not to leave it and go back to the shop requesting a new ice-cream scoop. But the line got atrociously long and I was craving something sweet. Plus I was broke--I was not going to waste food, especially food that is costly. Following the five-second rule (its safe to eat food thats fallen on the ground, as long as you pick it up within 5 seconds)--I grabbed it with my bare hands and pushed it back onto the cone and ate it. I believe it fell because of my bad luck or because the ice-cream was not properly scooped into the cone and was very loose. Yet, I still ate it and it wasnt terrible. When I arrived home later, I was feeling strange and suffered on the toilet for a while. If it werent for this tragic incident, I would have gave it a 3/5.
Top tier ice cream! The menu here is absolutely huge! You are so spoilt for choice. We got the mango flavour which was perfectly fruity and sugary with neither flavour being too overbearing. You also get a huge quantity of ice cream for what you pay. You cant really ask for more! Note: that there is likely a queue as this place is popular
Ice cream is so tasty and good and the portions are gigantic. One of Best ice cream joints in DC!
Prompt friendly service. I highly recommend the Mango Sorbet and Vanilla soft serve. The Pralines & Cream was very bland; considering the price. I expected it to be way better than B&R. Willing to visit again and try other flavors.
This is by far one of my favorite sorbet places in DC proper. Its in the Georgetown area close to the university. They have a variety of selections; sorbet, chocolates, desserts and other items to please your sweet palate. Stop by to check it out if youre in the area. You want be disappointed.
It said mask was recommended and after a long line wait getting in, they said you need mask and I didn’t have masks on but they (so rude, I was very respectful) asked me to leave their store. I tried to speak, the guy with a pointing finger said out, so rude! I have been coming here every time coming to D.C. that’s unfortunate my mom was with me and she liked to get it from here.. Whatever, it’s my last time coming here, SO DISAPPOINTED!!!
This place is all the rage in Georgetown. The line was about 30 minutes down the block. I came here looking to satisfy a craving for ice cream as a vegan and was a bit disappointed. The vegan option is a few flavors of sorbet - more variety than your usual sorbet menu, but not ice cream. The line was very long and my friend loved her ice cream. They have lots of flavors! A bit pricey though.
Delicious ice cream! Cute old shop. Loved the coffee Oreo flavor.
I was the last stop of our day in Georgetown! Yummy! Ice cream!
I shared a feedback regarding their bubble gum ice-cream. I thought the person would be receptive but was rather rude ! I hope they become more welcoming in the coming future.
The staff were friendly and the service was speedy, despite having a line out the door when we arrived. The brownie sundae was delicious. Note: there is a sign requesting cash at peak hours due to the speed of the cc machine, so bring cash if you have it.
I have been here to Thomas Sweet for quite some time and to be honest, I find it is quite average even though there are always big lines of people and is popular amongst celebrities and politicians. There is a HUGE selection of flavors and they have yogurt, fudge, vegan options, lots of regular options, etc.The problems really are in 2 areas. First thing, the service always somehow messes up. Last time they double charged me, and I unknowingly became aware of this after the fact so I decided it wasnt worth fighting over $10. This time, they got my girlfriends order wrong but she decided to keep her flavors and not cause a scene. Not sure if they are just always rushing due to the crowds but this really needs to be fixed with better training or more staff. Second thing, while I have only tried a few of the flavors - the pistachio is not really authentic. While it does have the nuts within it, it tastes more like a vanilla with nuts rather than a TRUE pistachio, in fact it isnt even green like you would expect.I probably will stop coming here in the future in favor of other local joints such as Ice Cream Jubilee, Jenis, or Tobys in Arlington.
Ice cream was good. Place looks run down. Service was unkind. A robot could have had more manners.
Thomas Sweet is in my top 3 for ice cream in the DC area. There are so many flavors and it tastes homemade. They also offer fro-yo, sorbet, and vegan options.
Delicious homemade ice cream 🍦 They have like 40 flavors or more. A huge selection to choose from. Frozen Yogurt is available as well.
Very good ice cream, expect a long line in the evenings.
The sorbets… on a hot summer day, all I want is the cool refreshing taste of a sorbet. Thomas sweets has a fantastic sorbet.
This popular ice cream shop has atmosphere and crowds, but service is fast. We had a great time and there were so many flavors to choose from!
Great Variety of Flavors. Including vegan options. Also sells cookies.
Best ice cream in the district; not only in Georgetown. Waffle cones are delicious and ice cream is cold and smooth. They are open 11 to 11. Great stop on a warm night.
Solid ice cream spot. Lots of flavors and as many topping choices. Busy, but line moved quickly.
Favorite ice cream spot in Georgetown! They offer other great sweets as well.
Best ice cream in the DMV. Dozens of flavors to choose from. Typically I prefer gelato, and simple flavors, but this place has nailed ice cream. The staff is friendly and their toppings are generous (eg they add 4 full Oreos as a topping whereas other places give you a crumble from half an Oreo).
Literally the portion sizes are so big, it’s hard to finish them.Start with the smallest portion and work your way up!! Haha
Every single flavor here is delicious, can never go wrong with ice cream at Thomas Sweet
Amazing Ice cream with a variety of different flavors. Customer service is great, definitely worth the visit !
The most versatile place to get ice cream. Its like 90 flavors of ice cream
They COMPLETELY messed up my order order and ice cream was very average, not tasty. The service was not friendly. They are rude and TERRIBLY unorganized. Overpriced and absolutely not worth it. Overall bad experience, will not come again. Horrible people
If the line here is long, it’s NOT worth the wait! The ice cream is average. It’s sweet but not flavorful.Staff needs to shape up too. It’s pricey.
Really good ice cream and yogurt. Definetly should check out if youre in the area.
This place is very popular in Georgetown, and maybe one of the more popular places in DC in general, as theres always a pretty large line waiting for ice cream. However, I wasnt very impressed. I got the cotton candy regular sized ice cream in a cup. The quantity was pretty good for the price. The ice cream was very creamy, however, the flavor was bland and it did not taste like cotton candy. I think what makes this place so popular is their large selection in ice cream flavors, fudge, and how creamy the ice cream is. Creamy ice cream does not seem to be a frequent thing in America, however, in most countries, such as India, its pretty much a norm. I think this is why I was not super impressed as Ive had ice cream for much cheaper, better taste, and just as creamy several times in the past. I probably would not ever go again unless I really had a craving and happened to be in the area.
Like pick up your phone if you want business, Also the only way of ordering a cake is from one week to the other. ???
My spouse and I just visited the place. We were seating by the chocolates and saw a MOUSE running from the refrigerator. I made them aware and the four guys attending the store were oblivious.
Customer service is AWFUL. Guys are rude - legit are yelling at you. Refused to legit mix in the toppings like at the one in Princeton NJ. Refused to sell me a drink claiming it was too busy. Wouldnt help my friend who was vegan because it was too much of an inconvenience. Never will be back to this location
Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service! This guys need to be either replaced or trained properly! They were yelling at me instead of taking my order, not even letting me to finish what I want to place he told me “move” and yelled next, and when I told him I didn’t finish, don’t yell and have respect towards customers they started speaking their language and probably saying something unpleasant. Same thing they did to the group of guys right before me in the line. Good Ice cream but unfortunately terrible and UNPROFESSIONAL customer customer service. Change you team!
Do not come here if youre from NYC or sf. You will be severely disappointed
Had an excellent Choco fudge brownie shake. Good rich flavor, definitely hit the spot.
Great customer service!! the coffee heath bar ice cream was actually the best ice cream i’ve ever had. also I got a small but the portion was so huge! 10/10 recommend
Love their ice creams. Must try when in Georgetown.
We went late on Saturday around 11pm. I love the ice cream and the people working there were fairly patient. There are so many options! They are hiring.
I had a terrible experience at Sweet Thomas tonight. I walked in with my service animal, who is prescribed to me for a medical condition. I have brought her in before (with her service vest on), and had no issues. It is also listed as pet friendly, so it shouldn’t matter. Lastly, it was raining, and we were on a walk. So she wasn’t wearing her vest. The man was very rude and told me to leave. I said she was a service animal, and he asked for her “ID card.” Those that know about service animals know that this is a made up thing that people have created on the internet to bring their dogs places. A prescription or other paperwork is the only way to prove a service animal. I explained this (he ignored me and shook his head) and pulled up her prescription. He refused to read it because there was “no picture, like the ID cards.” I again explained that the ID cards are fake, and that the prescription states that she is prescribed to me 24/7 for a medical condition. I even explained my medical condition, which I did not legally have to do. He still told me no. I told him I wouldn’t be leaving and that what he was doing was illegal. He finally scooped my ice cream and then rang me up for 3, as there was a miscommunication about what I was getting. I said I only have 2, can you please refund me for the 3rd. HE SAID “NO. YOU’RE TAKING THAT ONE TOO”!!!!! I couldn’t believe it. I said I don’t want that one, put it back (it was prepackaged in their freezer) and asked for my refund. Again he said “no you will take that one too. No refund”. I told him I wouldn’t be leaving until I got my refund and that me and my service animal would be happy to hang out in their store until he did so.Incredibly disrespectful, technically illegal, rude, insensitive, and unbelievable.
Great place for ice cream!!! We had vanilla with rainbow sprinkles and it was great!
Good atmosphere. Good ice cream
Good ice cream, customer service needs improvement
They use the same scoop for all the ice- cream. That doesnt work for someone who had a severe nut allergy like one in our party has.Secondly, they gave the wrong ice- cream to one in our party and wouldnt correct it.The ice cream was average. Not worth going out of your way.
Ordered strawberry frozen yogurt. Didnt taste like strawberry or yogurt. I dont know what I actually ate. It was quite disappointing experience. Over rated.
On a warm day, My friend and I came here for an ice cream treat. As my friend was ordering she had to constantly repeat her order. Another lady who had ordered before us had the same thing occur to her. After the constant repetition, the man still got her order wrong! This deterred me from getting any cream so much that I stuck to my water.
Its good. Actually very good. but not worth the line at all..
Creamy, smooth and yummy! Great value and generous portions. Cant believe we ate it all. Even the picky baby girl said, This ice cream is so good Nana.
Long line but the staff knows how to get it done! So many flavors... Yummmm ❤️☺️
Wife said she saw the guy in the back scoop up the banana out of the peel with his bare hands for our banana split…
Delicious ice cream. Had an incredible amount of choice that you can pick. The great thing about it the fact that it is not too sweet and it tastes homemade. Bought the chocolate chip mint and it was not overwhelmingly minty or even overwhelmingly sweet. This place also has a wall of fame at the side of the entrance and it’s a friendly reminder that even heavy hitters enjoy an ice cream cone once in a while.
The ice cream was good but the service was horrible. We brought in a service animal (that my wife was carrying), and they immediately wanted us to leave. Then they wanted to see proof which we would able to provide, and then they said how do we know if it’s the same dog. And I said I don’t care frankly. And then they said it has to be in a cage and I said actually no a service dog doesn’t but thanks anyways. And then they glared at us the entire time. They went out of their way to be rude.
Fyi: imo this place is actually 3/5, but i always leave 5 stars for local/non-chain places, bc i feel kinda guilty otherwise.---overpriced, but delicious. i tried the sugar+fat free once, it was actually really good too
Pretty good and they keep the line moving.
Ooh wee! That was one huge pile of ice-cream 😄 I wanted 5 scoops and what I got was about 2 lbs of ice-cream. I finished it anyway. Excellent stuff, boys and girls!
Delicious. Many many flavors! Obama loves it. What more is there to say! Sizes are big enough to share. Be sure to ask about the flavor where they combine leftovers. Yum!
A sweet tooth delight! Amazing ice cream, fudge and chocolates with any topping you desire. Definitely a treat.
That place has amazing ice cream!
Very tasty! Wonderful selection of add ins to your ice cream selectionx. The butter pecan was filled with pecans. They also had lemon ice cream which is a favorite of my brother.
Absolutely an amazing experience! Excellent ice cream and even better service!
Before the pandemic, going here for a little treat on my walk home from work was my favorite way to end the day. Their ice cream is amazing. Their chocolate station is finger-lickingly good. Their staff have always been very friendly.
The ice cream is wonderful! A treat for all!
Best ice cream ever!!
Thomas Sweet Ice Creamery was pretty good. It was strange, is the place smelled of food not sweet treats. Once was enough for me.
I had the Brownie sundae and it was really really good.
Always on point!!!! Been there for 35years!!!!! I remember going there when I attended drama school across the street from there!!!!
