Place was large with plenty of room and selection. Self checkout was typical easy. We bought beer so had to wait for the clerk to get to us. She was busy on a personal call so couple of customers waited patiently for her important personal call to be finished. All I heard was.. Girl... He was fine I dont know why you just dont hookup. 😂

I really like this local grocery store. They have organic produce as well as the usual. They have some specialty foods that are important to me because of allergies: kefir, duck eggs, non-dairy yogurt. They have a good selection of many types of snacks, meats, etc.

This is my first time in this location, and loved how neat, and clean it is. Plenty of cashiers working, and I just loved my shopping experience will be shopping here more often.

The newly opened Safeway in DC is a great grocery shopping experience. Only a block off Pennsylvania Ave, SE, its big, roomy, with easy access and a large parking garage underground. Its got all the things you love about Safeway plus, outstanding deli, bakery, and wine store. And the best part: courteous helpful employees were everywhere. Even if its not in a location youd shop regularly, its well worth the occasional trip.

My first impression is the size of this Safeway. A very good mix of items and the underground parking is plus. My new favorite grocery store. No longer will I have to travel outside city.

Start going to this market since year absolutely loved it Everything was fresh Everything was clean never had a complaint butchers are amazing Cakes are amazing but since the last two or three months the potatoes and onions and apples pretty much anything in the fresh fruits or vegetable section is covered in flies and its absolutely disgusting there were times where I couldnt buy potatoes apples or onions because they were swarmed in flies absolutely covered I dont know whats going on what you have to do to stop it or fix it please do so

Visited this store on 10/8 around 1pm to get some fresh produce and grab a sandwich. However upon attempting to pick a tomatoe some of them were molded. I then visited the sand which department to get a sandwich made . A customer was being assisted after the worker finished making that sandwich she left another customer and I standing at the counter while she walked away and never came back . We both looked at each other in disbelief. Never greeted us or said I’ll be right back NOTHING!!!! I had to grab sushi and just go. (Luckily the sushi counter was fully stocked and the worker at the counter was attentive )I had high hopes for this Safeway location given that its new, I am hoping that there can be some improvement so I can give it a try again.

Very new Safeway. While its new and looks great there is still a lack of fresh produce in general.However what is there is still stocked. Rare to see empty shelves or items.Theres a lot of convience items, such as gourmet popcorn, sushi, hot bar.Parking is simple and free directly beneath the store

This Safeway is always pleasant and the employees are always helpful. Becoming a lot busier being that it is the nicest Safeway outside of the one in Georgetown. The deli section is remarkable they even have a space for popcorn. The parking is free so it’s never an issue. Overall this is one the nicest Safeway’s I have been to and a great use of space considering its not big definitely recommend this one to other who live in the area

I love Thursday early morning shopping. The store is being stocked, large variety and selection to choose from. Delicious smells from the Deli and Bakery. The staff is very helpful if you cannot find your items.

The first few months things were great, but I’ve noticed a slip in the cleanliness and attitude of employees. Twice now I’ve gone to grab a coffee and Starbucks was “not open” because the employee didn’t show up (so I was told). The produce is average but the prices are higher than other stores around. Hoping this Safeway will be well maintained and can keep good employees.

Its great to have a neighborhood grocery store with friendly, hard working union employees. The selection here is great, I wish management would keep it better staffed at times, but especially appreciate the wine selection, the large meat and seafood department, and the fact that, every time I have been at least, they have more than one check stand open so Im not forced into self scan.

Ok who cares about a Safeway but this is a nice new one. I am always happy with the $1.00 sales on the table just when you walk in the door, for those who have the safeway card.

Im in line laughing right now cause I feel like I always pick the slowest lane. Store is soo busy and cashier named Sheila moves like shes in slow motion trapped in a lower dimension on LSD, its comical. The other lanes have lapped me and the people are home watching TV.

Customer service in the bakery is horrible! One young lady act as if she was doing me a favor as I tried to place a order for my daughter birthday. Dragging rolling eyes as if they dont want to work.. I will cancel this order and take my business elsewhere

Its definitely a great store. Clean, most of the time always have anything you need in stock. Definitely gets busy in the evenings between 4 and 5pm everyday. Weekends, you better come in the mornings. I can say when the checkout lines get pack. They definitely do a good in getting the lines down. Friendly staff and security. And one other thing, never went to grocery store and seen it had its own popcorn stand. Crazy, I know. But overall, I believe you will enjoy your shopping experience.

I enjoyed shopping at the Safeway before it was renovated; my experience since the renovation has been exponential. It no longer looks like the traditional grocery store, but going through this new model is an adventure. It is much more spacious, they offer more products, and the parking facility is indoors. I have been shopping at 5:00 a.m., and normally it is the same staff. the staff is always friendly, and when I have needed assistance, yes that early in the morning, I have been able to have very helpful, enjoyable and informative conversations with the team members.

The store had everything I needed for a successful Memorial Day grilling with friends and family. The store is so clean and its easy to find things. Self check out was fast and easy even with items requiring an ID check.

This must be a flagship Safeway. I have never seen a Safeway that looks this good.

The store looks nice and the people that work in the popcorn section are great. The rest of the service during my last visit to this location was horrible. Employees dont greet you or acknowledge you as they are traveling through the store and the cashier screamed at me loud enough for others to hear when I had stepped outside the little circle where you were to stand at the checkout. Funny though that none of their employees say anything about people walking the wrong direction down the aisles, sometimes doing it themselves. Needless to say, havent been back and dont necessarily plan to.

One of the best Safeway store but Their Starbucks is highly disappointed the people that work at Starbucks cant make a frappuccino drink right and always tell me they dont have no more frappuccino.

This new Safeway development is beautiful I love how the shelves and the space are beautifully organized and put together. Convenient also to my home.

This place is huge, and clean, you can tell the employees are happy with the job, Most of my posts are about restaurants, I am glad that I stopped by to show.

I hate this Safeway. If you want a sandwich, be prepared to wait in line for a half hour at least. The deli workers refuse to make you fresh sandwiches. They are the rudest and ignore customers. They’re deli meat has a filmy, watery surface like it’s been injected with saline. Go to Harris Teeter at Jenkins Row a couple of blocks away. Better quality, better attitude.

Great selections and very clean. Only issue is prices can be a little high. When you find a good deal it is usually a great deal and worth jumping on. Alcohol selecting are also great.

I love the new layout of this Safeway. It was a long time coming and I must say its such a pleasant shopping experience. The Wine Cellar is such a nice touch and the popcorn/nuts stand is always tempting. Its also well staffed so you blaze through the lines. Love the new changes and upgrades..well worth the wait.

Really nice, plenty of space for moving around even when crowded, employees were very nice, pharmacy is great. Great place to shop, and has on site parking garage.

CAPITOL HILL BEST GROCERY STORE

One of the biggest I have seen. It is well stocked. The vwffiws are fresh.

Safeway is beautiful NOW! Before it got torn down and redone it was a black hole...but we waited about a year for construction to be completed. It was worth the wait. The bakery, popcorn, deli, meats sections are great. GREAT PRODUCE. Too. Theres always a manager willing to help you, and store associates actually doing thier JOB. The aisles are kind of narrow but its like whatever because you can find what you wantPrices are no different from that competition up the street on Jenkins Row, they know who am talking about. Oh yeah parking if free from 90 minutes which is also great. But the delivery fee for online ordering is TOO damn much, ....for me. Hey just my 2 cents.

I usually do like this store, but today a man, who was working behind the fish counter, had his mask pulled down to his chin. Couldn’t care less, too, while helping customers. I’m surprised no one told him to pull it up. It’s open food! It really grossed me out.

Can get busy, so if youre COVID cautious, go during off-hours.There was an attempt at directing aisle traffic with arrow stickers, but no one -- including staff -- follow the guidance.

Despicable service. Was hung up on 3 times when I went to pickup my groceries. We had to call using a different phone number and when they finally brought them out, the associate completely ignored me, didn’t load the groceries and walked away.

My experience at Safeway was not to good I went to Starbucks their..I order a beverage while the employee was fixing my order she had her mask down talking to another coworker so I told her I didnt want the beverage I told her to fix me another one she had the nerve to have a attitude so I went to custermer service to get me my money back it is a pandemic going on talking without your mask down while fixing a customer their order unacceptable.

I shopped in the new Safeway on Capitol Hill, DC. It is nice. Their hours are later than other DC Safeway stores. Parking is in their garage which is good on bad weather days. The bakery is fantastic and the deli is good. They have a huge wine collection! No complaints so far. I still prefer Walmart!!

This Safeway has everything that you need from a wine cellar, to hand cut meats, and a liquor store.

I want to love this location, but I’ve never been watched/followed so heavily in a grocery store. I’ve never experienced this at a Safeway so I’m honesty surprised. I watched numerous employees track me through the store. Then the self checkout lady literally stood less than 6 feet away from me (not safe at all considering COVID) and stared at me while I scanned each item and paid. I’ve never been treated like such a criminal and I’m not sure why I was profiled so heavily. I won’t be be back and honestly want an apology

The pharmacist named Dal does not wear her mask and is always rude and nasty when trying to drop off and pick up prescriptions. She acts like youre bothering her and she doesn’t have time for you to be dropping off or picking up prescriptions. Worst pharmacist at this location!

This Safeway is on steroids. It by far, has the most variety I’ve seen in a Safeway. Newly renovated, and clean. Maybe a little expensive but convenient.

The original Safeway that was here has been replaced by a modern looking store with all the bells and whistles. Beautiful with an underground parking space. I had not seen it since it was built and was pleasantly surprised. The prices are a little steeper than some other Safeways but understandable with a new store. The fish department was very nice, but the prices on some items like fresh Tuna @ 22.99 expensive. More like Whole Foods store. I still think its a great addition to the neighborhood. This is the Capital Hill SE location off of Kentucky Avenue.

Nice new store. But noticed a few weeks ago that they are no longer bothering to make hand sanitizer available at the entrances. Also sanitizing wipes were only in one location by the lower elevators.

The best Safeway so far. They have everything, hot bar cold bars sushi bar, Meat deli counter wine bar cooler. Let not forget the liquor store Starbucks. They have food too.

This new Safeway on Capitol hill is wonderful! Its huge you can find what you need. Its clean they have a nice produce section and they keep it well stocked. The cashiers are very courteous.You never have to stand in a long line and thats a big plus!!!

So I call myself being lazy Sunday I did not want to go to the store just to get Milk It took me 2 hours fighting with myself about where Im going to order some Milk. I decide to go with Safeway because I figure not so many people touching your food WHOEVER pick up my food did not look well enough to know the grape are spoil and I did not ask for most of the item I receive. Well Door Dash pick up my food and just left it outside my Apartment Building door not a phone call to let me know they where there not an alert to just give me a heads up with my order. First time I ever order from them it is the last time I will order from them
