So happy I found this place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They were super accommodating, reasonably priced, and provided great service. They were able to provide me with a loaner car because the work being done on my car took longer than expected. They also were able to provide me with off hours pick up for the loaner. This was very convenient. Highly recommend!!
Thrilled I found this place. I had the same MB mechanic in NYC for 15 years and I thought when I moved I was going to have to settle for less. But German Auto is really superb. Professional, communicative and they really know what theyre doing. You get a great experience while you still pay a fair price. No reason to go anywhere else.
Recently had my car in for service. The repairs made have been great & the car runs better than when I purchased it. Will be back!
*Post Script*Mark, the owner, reached out to me after posting my review and wanted to address my concerns. He also wanted to make things right, and was very attentive. I’m happy to say that he took care of my concerns. It’s a rarity, unfortunately, that business owners take accountability and try to make the customer satisfied. I can attest that Mark takes pride in his business and is a very personable guy.Thank you!——————————————————————————-Went if for clutch repair and wasn’t exactly thrilled about experience. It took 2 weeks to get my car in (short staffed). Once it was in, it took 4 days and then they wanted it over the weekend to assess a CEL. Turns out an O2 sensor was broken (assembly/disassembly) and they wanted $170 to replace (free labor).Part at local foreign parts store was $110 (includes tax) so they definitely do mark the prices up considerably.Their invoices aren’t itemized at all....just a line item “replaced clutch, flywheel, etc.”-$3400....plus shop hourly rate is “variable”....suspectI opted to attempt myself (as it’s a pretty easy job) but they torqued the lugs sooo tight that I broke my torque socket trying to get off (and this was a torque gun socket-not some cheap one)Time/cost/attention to detail is lacking so I’d recommend looking around and definitely price out w/competitors (heck dealership quote wasn’t much more)
Awesome work and service. I dont take my car anywhere else
I own an older Benz GL 450. I have always serviced it with the dealer I purchased the vehicle. I took my vehicle to the dealer a couple of months ago for 1 new tire. (yes, only 1, and I called ahead to make sure it was in stock, and it was) They had my car for 4 days, no loaner and I had enough and came across German Auto Repair on a Google search. Read the reviews and decided to give them the call. Jackie picked up and was great. My work hours did not allow me to drop off and pick up during regular hours. The drop-off, payment, and pick-up were super easy.My GL was leaking some fluid from under the vehicle. They diagnosed the issue and sent pictures of the actual leak(transfer case) and other pictures of my tires and brakes that did not need servicing. This was a first for me, and I loved it.Jackie followed up with a call back a couple of weeks later to see if everything was fine. I will definitely be coming back in the future with my Benz and my daughters mini.
German Auto Repair has established itself as one of the most customer-friendly repair shop in Connecticut, where customers can have their vehicles serviced for a fraction of a price charged by dealers. And the quality of the service is out of this world: constant communication about the details of the repair actually make customers feel more comfortable. If you own a volkswagen, Porsche or Mercedes Benz, then this is the place to have it repaired with the most technological advances any shop could offer.
Mark the owner of German Auto Repair and his Staff came Highly Recommended to me. I was told by several people that they wld not trust their vehicles to anyone else. I now stand in that same great company and heres why.One on one Professional Service with Mark himself, from the moment I walked in the door to the completion of the major work being done on my BWM 335i.Above and Beyond: Workmanship, Efficiency, Customer Service, Level of Expertise, Integrity, Courtesy, Hospitality, Work Ethic, Personal Caring, Communication, Fair Pricing, 3 Year Warranty on the Work and much much more.I have owned my own business for 25 years hence I dont say lightly that German Auto Repair is a World Class Service!
German Auto Repair was fair and honest with their assessment of my ML 350. They worked hard to pinpoint specific problems and worked hard towards a cost effective repair. Their efforts will allow me to get several more years out of my 2012 car.
I want to start off by saying this is one of the best repair shops Ive done business with. This is my 2nd time using this companys services and after both experiences I felt compelled to write a review so you can understand the caliber and quality of the people and service you will experience if you choose to do business with them. The first time I went I had just had a horrible experience with the BMW Dealership in Bridgeport. I went in to purchase tires. They found something wrong with my suspension and would not be able to get my alignment correct without fixing that first. They quoted me an outrageous price for the fix. Considering it was the dealership I was inclined to do it anyway because I knew that they would at least do the job right and I didnt want to cut corners.I called a friend who was also a bmw owner and far more experienced 25+ years of ownership and he told me the quote from the BMW dealership was too high. So I called the next day and told them I want to hold off on the work. I ask the BMW Dealership Rep (Not German Auto Repair) what services had been done already and the rep listed off a bunch of services I did not authorize including changing my oil (which I had done before 4 weeks prior), and some other miscellaneous things. Out of pocket $1400 FOR SERVICES I didnt request! Then when I told them I wanted to cancel my request the dealership lowered their price on me 3 times by over 40% trying to keep my business BMW Dealership Rep (Not German Auto Repair). At this point I did not trust them.I called German Auto and spoke to a very kind woman at the front desk. She made an appointment. Gave me a loaner car to check the vehicle before quoting me anything. gave me a better price for all the services my car needed.I agreed. 4 days later I pick up my car from German Auto. I am not exaggerating from the moment I started driving the vehicle it literally felt the way it did when I bought the car brand new. I looked up the tires they selected for me and the ones they chose were of higher quality then the ones the BMW Dealership had recommended. Now today I went to German Auto again. This time it was a headlight malfunction issue. I did not know what the problem was so I wanted them to have a look. The owner took a quick glance and realized I just needed a few bulbs. Fixed it on the spot for me in under 20 minutes and was kind enough to not even charge me for the service. And I wouldve gladly paid.Businesses like German Auto really need to be supported and celebrated. You should send your referrals here and you should feel confident youre going to get high quality work.I am so thankful and fortunate to have found them and will continue to business with them in the future! You can tell the owners and staff really take pride in what they do and it shows.Dont look anywhere else! You found the place you need to keep your car running and well maintained for a long time!!
The best service, super knowledgeable. Mark is a great guy too!!
Went to the shop based on a friends referral, and came away extremely impressed with Mark and his team. The facility is immaculate and very modern, and actually nicer than many high-end dealerships. Excellent work, and I highly recommend them for any repair or maintenance need.
Great shop if you own a German car. They came highly recommended and have never disappointed. Highest quality work done on time. They have always provided a loaner when needed
After owning my BMW X3 for about 4 months, I received a message on the screen. I called the dealer who wasn’t much help and then decided to call German Auto in Watertown. I spoke with Mark letting him know what messages I received and he advised me to have the car towed to the garage and not drive it. Glad I listened to him! And, I’m glad I purchased the extended warranty! Mark worked my warranty carrier and kept me in the loop every step of the way! Explained clearly what broke down, what needed to be replaced and put a plan in place. I am so glad I made the decision to call German Auto — I had seen many recommendations from other customers. I will be taking my BMW to German Auto going forward for all my maintenance ! Jackie, the receptionist was a pleasure to speak to and very nice.. Thank you Mark and team for taking such great care of my BMW..
Second time using their services and I can say they are top notch. First time was used for a PPI on a vehicle I was looking to buy, and its a good thing I did because they saved me a lot of money and headaches. Today I had my new-to-me BMW in for an oil change and inspection. Mark and his team are extremely professional and detailed in everything they do. Wouldnt take my car anywhere else!
Very happy with service on my 09 ML350, a little pricey but they stated a 3 guarantee on services done... and like their sign says Good Service is not Cheap and Cheap service is not Good ...these guy knows their stuff and washed the car after service.Since I usually work on my own cars when can and was pleasantly surprised that they freely fore warned me about about pending issue so I could prepare.Note - had a very small issue after initial service and they took care without question or additional charge ... will use again.
The only place that I would trust to bring my BMW. Mark is honest and the quality of work in my opinion is better than the dealership. Very clean and reasonably priced. I have been going here for years. They do everything, oil change to major work. I have referred more friends and family here and all are equally happy.
Mark and the team at German Auto Repair run a 1st class operation.I purchased a high mileage Porsche Cayenne Turbo from out of state, and Mark patiently addressed any issues and concerns (both before...AND after the sale). They went the extra mile to make sure the vehicle was in A1 condition and the whole process was painless. It was clear to me that this company takes great care of their customers and has the equipment and expertise to meet and exceed the needs of even the most demanding clientele.Southern Connecticut car owners are fortunate to have a quality high-end service facility where they will be treated fairly and with integrity.
I always took my old BMW wagon there for repairs, I actually bought it from Mark the owner. He is a great guy. Very professional and honest. I wish they would work on Toyotas because I had to sell my BMW.
It can be so tough to find a place you trust with your car and especially when you have a German car your options are limited. This place is an amazing business that I would recommend to anyone. Various times they have turned what could have been really complicated fixes into easy and affordable fixes. Mark and Courtney have amazing customer service skills and I really appreciate how these people operate. I really cannot recommend this place enough. It sucks to get your car fixed but when you go here you will feel safe and you will know that you payed a really fair price.
If you own a German car and need a shop to go to, this is the one. As a mechanic I am very picky about who I pay to work on my cars, but German Auto has come through and then some every single time I go there. The owner genuinely cares about his customers and will do whatever it takes to make sure you and your car are cared for. I will never take my vws/audis anywhere else.
Brought my car here for the first time and the service was excellent. Friendly staff and professional service. Will definitely return with other issues. Better than going to the stealership!
Mark and his team do fantastic work and their attention to detail is unmatched. Thank you for keeping my GTI’s on the road for the last several years!
I have been bringing my cars to Mark since before he opened his own shop. I like to work on my own vehicles, but sometimes you just need the expert on the case. He once diagnosed and repaired a unique computer/EGR problem that prevented my car from driving. Another time he was able to provide a loaner vehicle while my AC compressor was replaced. Mark is knowledgeable and experienced, and runs his business with professionalism and transparency. I highly recommend Mark and German Auto Repair.
I left my prized BMW with Mark for over two weeks while I was away. They repaired my car at the estimated price and also kept my car indoors with a cover on it as I had requested. Very impressed.
Great service and communication.
Made an appointment. No waiting due to covid
Got me in when they where very busy. Turbo on my sprinter diesel. Great work! Communication was ok as Mark is busy busy!
Great mechanics they do fantastic work
This is updated review with a huge disappointment. I took my bmw m6 2007 to this place.. car had a missing issue and check engine light were on. Mark gave me a estimate of 10,000usd to bring the car to the top of the service, i just wanted engine missing to go away and check engine light.. it all happened after i filled up my car with bad gas. Somehow mark told me we ll have to change the plugs, injectors which would cost me 4000usd and still no guarantee if engine missing will go away so i decided not to do anything and was recommended to sell it.. because of the good reviews i thought they are expert techs so i put my baby on sale and sold the car in very less price to neighbours friends.. all the buyer did was change few plugs [not all] and fuel filter and car were all good.. always drives around makes me so frustrated.. i dunno what to say to german autos, when u dont have proper knowledge please dont disheart car owners by false info... the car had only 83k miles and i sold it in very very less price smh..
This place is very friendly, efficient, and the jobs they perform is nothing but excellent quality.
Mark and his team really care about their customers - very knowledgeable and thorough repair service
We trust our German cars to Mark and his team for the last few years. We cannot say enough positive reviews about the workmanship & customer services.
Had extensive work done here, part maintenance and part insurance. Matt and Courtney are the best. Only place to take my car to now!!!
