I had quite the experience having this meal as it was my first dining experience back in New England and everything was perfect:A) the curry has possibly the finest balance of spices of any I’ve had along with the texture - just phenomenalB) the garlic naan was perfect as well but I did ask for tamarind sauce on the side (which was just excellent and paired exactly well with the bread and curry)C) The dessert that I had was exquisite as well with the subtle hint of lemon zest really kicking it up.Finally D) the chai tea I had was perfect and a modest way to end a great day, modest but balanced.Would recommend Chulo’s one thousand times over - I wish there was a location in Texas!
Delicious food! Tastes amazing reminded me of homemade food!! Its not fancy food its simple food made with care and love and you can taste it. Went here with couple of mate and Im not lying when I say we all had smiles and glow on our faces while we ate. Every dish we go was super yummy and you could tell the chef cares very highly about the food that is served! We will all be visiting more often. And believe me when I say its home cooked delicious food with the care and love like moms food.
This place is outstanding. Cozy indoors, spacious outdoors, very respectful and nice stuff, great menu diversity. Live music on certain days of the week is brilliant. Their drinks are good. Special thanks to Mr. Anil, he was helping his staff to provide better and faster service in emergency. It was delightful. Definitely will be back.
Have visited this place quite a few times now. Place is nice and clean with feel good factor. Overall, ambience is good. Food is little bit pricey but high quality. Chilli Momos are worth trying if you like spicy food. Bhancha set (traditional nepali Thali) is very delicious, especially the sarso saag in it. Have tried khaja set and that too is delicious. Chai can be improved a bit. Naans are pretty good. Paneer saag and Chicken dishes that have tried are also good. Highly recommend this place. Staff is very courteous. There was live music too at our recent visit and that was mostly melodious traditional music. Definitely a plus for a nice dine in experience. Adding some pictures, not the best pictures but food is good.
Delicious food of India Himalaya Nepal, wonderfully spiced. Service was excellent, added bonus of live music by the Mass Avenairres. Im in Boston for my daughters 27th birthday, well be back
What a great find! Our drinks, appetizers and entrees were all very tasty. Their staff was attentive and friendly. The ambience is cozy and delicate, balancing perfect with Jazz music.
The food here was so great! The naan was thick and delicious the raita was creamy and cut the heat on other dishes. I live in Watertown and now we have a new spot for Indian food. I was shocked in a great way when I saw the size of the rice. Well done. I did pick up rather than have it delivered and I have to say there where only two families in the restaurant who where seated on opposite sides,(Covid) and the two employees that I saw where working hard! Ill definitely be back
It’s a familiar taste in a familiar environment with authentic food!! Highly recommend. The food has an authentically satisfying taste and the service is very friendly and warm. Folks over there will take care of you. The food has unique flavors and their chili momos have a spicy kick. We enjoyed their selection of vegetarian options. Veg momos, Shahi paneer and other items we tried had a satisfying and comforting taste.Bonus: the place has live music ( of course in non-COVID times) on weekends.Give this place a try for their authentic taste and warm service.
Decreasing quality day by day.Food isnt good as it used to be. Had few flies flying around the indoor dining table during dinner time which is unhygienic and disgusting.
As a realtor in this area, Chulo is my favorite place to stop by and enjoy my favorite chicken curry dish. Great service and great atmosphere for lunch or dinner. I highly recommend it!
There was a band. Indian food well priced. Food was good. Service was good. I will eat there again.
Phenomenal. Best Indian food I’ve had (maybe in my life?) and wonderful service. The pakoras are sensational. How do they make plain naan taste so good?I think they must use really fresh ingredients because this food is far less greasy than other Indian restaurants, but wonderfully flavorful. It isn’t too heavy, but sooo satisfying and delicious. We are frequent customers here and the staff are always kind and welcoming, even to our toddler (who loves all of the food too). Nice casual outdoor tables are perfect for safe dining during the pandemic, and next to a tree-lined walking trail. The food does run on the spicy side, so be sure to ask for your spice level accordingly. Enjoy!
Food was amazing! Ignore all the Punjabi curry and go for bhancha/Khaja plate with some roti. It feels like a home cooked meal.
Being a Nepali, I am sad to write this review. We ordered Chicken Momo and Chicken chili. Both items were bad but I couldn’t keep even a bite of their chicken chili. The taste of the food does not resemble Nepali food at all. Absolutely shocked at the quality of the food.
The chicken and the lamb are so overdone that it’s impossible to chew them. Overall all terrible taste
Reliably good quality, super tasty Nepalese comfort food! This is our go-to takeout spot, especially when hanging out with friends for a casual dinner at home. Everybody really likes it. Shareable portion sizes. Consistent taste. Recommend getting any of their momo, chow mein, fried rice dishes. They really hit the spot.
Food was absolutely incredible. Momos were gone so quickly as they were that good. The service was even more amazing. The waiters (2 of them) consistently filled the cups at the table which shows to me their attentiveness. I am so glad I found this restaurant. It is a gem in Watertown and I will most definitely be back.
Cant recommend this place enough. Warm cozy atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. The food was excellent. Great mo mos, every dish was full of flavor and they will prepare them as spicy (or not) as you like. Some nights feature traditional Nepali music with world renowned musicians.Parking is free behind the building. We will be back for sure!!
I moved to Watertown about 5 months ago and I have found myself to frequent this place every week. The food here is excellent and fairly priced. With generous portions, attentive staff and comfortable décor, I can easily say it is one of the best restaurants in the area. If you have never tried Nepalese food or are looking for a place with an authentic taste, Chulo restaurant is the place to be.For patrons concerned due to COVID: The restaurant staff is focused and dedicated to ensuring safety by following CDC guidelines. Frequent sanitizing, wearing gloves and distancing patrons is the norm. I whole-heartedly recommend this place and encourage you all to enjoy Chulo restaurant
Its really good, specifically the Momos are just amazing
Thank you for having halal chicken Tikka juicy and perfectly cooked and daal makhani had nice texture.
Live music, awesome food especially Momos and noodles.
Good service and good food, loved the atmosphere and they have parking.
Order chicken MOMOs to go. The next day while having MOMO it was sour as hell with a bad smell. Worst experience. Will never go and will not recommend it to anyone. Drove from Providence to Boston for MOMO but had bad luck.
I have been here few times. Absolutely love it.. Friday and Saturday they have live music from 7 to 10pm. Highly recommend momo, bhatmas/peanut sadheko and thali...
.. Great customer service! Warm welcome. Nice bar 🍻Food was great.. 🏖 Lots of parking 🅿 space and more tables were set up outside dining!!Will see again.. 😷 😷
Different, decent place. A tad bit loud. Service was good. Interesting videos of Nepal play. The food was a mixed bag. Lamb shown, was tasty and good. Another dish of dumplings in a red sauce sauce with veggies not so much. Drinks are more expensive than what I expected here.If youre looking for something different, Nepalese cuisine, its worth a visit. The bill for one with (2) drinks including service, $50.
My Husband and I LOVE the food here. We always make a trip down here on weekends. Amazing. Each new dish we try leaves us in awe. The dishes are bursting with flavor in each bite!!The owner is great ! Wonderful customer service!!
My online order was not received until I showed up way after pickup time and showed them my receipt. Also messed up our order. Wouldnt trust them with online orders anymore.
Come Wednesday nights for beautiful live music! The food was delicious- I had veggie mo mo (dumplings) and some amazing Sandalwood flavored sweet cheese dessert! The decor is lovely- lots of colorful Hindu & Buddhist paintings, Tibetan prayer flags and a couple of silenced TVs showing relaxing and Eastern culture images. Definitely a unique spot, check it out!
So tasty! The dal makhani I got last time made for two truly delicious meals.
The momos were delicious. Most of the menu items are more Indian cuisine. We had Tikka masala and butter chicken and both were delicious. Would be back to try the other dishes. They have 2 tables set up outside in the parking lot so it was very spacious and did not feel like we were inhaling gas. Plus a restaurant with a parking lot is a bonus! Great and friendly staff.
The food was great, the service was excellent and the drinks are well priced. With the food being not cheap already, paying nearly 5 bucks for an order of naan is a disappointment, regardless of how delicious it was.
Pleasantly surprised. great ambience,Nice selection of liquor and food on the menu. Flavors spot on. Good service. No complaints.
The only good or above par dish is the kothey Momo. I tried a lot of things from here over a number of orders but nothing stood out or some things were really a bummer like the chicken fried rice which was yellow colored bland pulao with itsy bitsy pieces of chicken or the lamb sekua which was lacking in flavor and also portions were small . The bancha combo was also passable. I have never dined in, so may be its better if you dine in??For takeout, I only recommend the Momos if one has a South Asian palate.
Variety of food options and delicious Indian food! Will visit again!
The food was great. The servers are nice.
This is the best sandwich shop Ive been to since I moved to Boston. Prices are great and servings are generous.
Absolutley incredible indian food, very fresh and worth the $$
Quality food and their Naan is baked perfectly - not burnt like many Indian (South Asian) places.
Clean and staff are very friendly. The owner Basu is very nice person, such friendly staff is hard to find in Indian restaurants. My fav and to go restaurant in Waltham and Watertown. Only down side is not authentic Indian food, but I couldnt think of any better place which serves better Indian food around.
WOW! Food was really good. Actually, no it was really great! What I like about Chulo is they dont try, at all, to make their food americanized and fit our pallettes. They stay true to their roots and it shines. We had the goat set, veg set and veg momo.... All were a 10 out of 10. We also each had a Himalayan mojito, strong and gigantic. Its like a Nepalese dive bar with top end food. Haha! They make everything here, everything. Dough for the momo, spice mixes for the curries, puffed rice for the dessert. We were lucky enough to be here while there was live Nepalese music, it was a really good performance.Cant wait to go back, dont hesitate to try Chulo.
Best Nepali restaurant!
Authentic, delicious, and SPICY!Delicious food that reminds me of moms cooking. Made with love and passion, you can taste their dedication to sticking to more traditional recipes. Thank god I finally have somewhere to order curry goat served with the traditional side dishes (bancha set).
Glad to find this place that serve momos, very nice indian curries served with freshly backed naan. My favorite items are daal soup, veg momos, chana masala and garlic naan. Staff were very friendly and at your service to make your dining more enjoyable. I wish they will start serving fried momos some day!
I cant wait to see this place post-covid. Delicious, warm homeschooled style food. Dont miss the unique breads. One day the band will be back and its as great a local bar as I could hope for
On principle, I hate to leave a negative review for a restaurant during Covid, but the food at Chulo is of low quality. Every dish we received was exceptionally greasy. The pakoras were tasteless fried pucks absolutely dripping in oil. The paneer was rubbery, and the chicken was stringy and tough. The breads were floppy, doughy and under baked. The prices per dish ($15-$18 per pint) was high, especially considering that the food tasted like it had been sitting on a hotplate for days.
Chulo Restaurant and Bar is 100% Nepali Restaurant and Musical house where you will get extremely highly tasty food and environment with amazing quality Nepali Food, Nepali home environment and Guest is God treatment. If you are here at Boston or nearby of here, be at least once at Chulo, you will be amazed.
This place is delicious!! You have to give this place a try because you wont be disappointed. I got perfect tandoori chicken and dumplings (Momos). Wow!! So flavorful and spicy. Get take out from this place now!!
The food was delicious, and the staff was extremely kind and service-oriented. I made reservations and they had everything ready to go by the time my gf and I got to the restaurant. An example of their detailed service: I requested my dish not spicy at all. A different server brought the food out and used the same verbiage to present it to me. It was delicious, and as requested, not spicy at all. I appreciate this place and would highly recommend it for Indian cuisine. YUM.
Food was delicious. And service was great.
We love Chulo. They have great food (chili chicken is a favorite) and their staff is so friendly each and every time we go. Since they opened, I think we have gotten takeout about a dozen times and each time the quality is great. This is definitely a Watertown gem.
Place is very overpriced for the tiny portions they give. Also the Chicken mo-mo was ice cold. The chicken Tikka Masala was terrible, it was essentially hot broth with little tiny pieces of chicken, not a cream sauce by any means. Been wanting to try this place for a while and will never again. Spice Box in Lexington blows Chulo out the water, better quality, bigger portions and cheaper prices. Dont was your money on Chulo
Food was very good. Curry, Somosas, Tikki Chicken.
The food was great!! The service was great!, sorry Im not a person do reviews. my first review actually.i recommend this place if you want to relax and have a good time with your friend or family. The staff are professional and friendly so the manager.we will back its too bad we drived from far to get to this place.
Excellent food, the staff were so nice and helpful, owner was very friendly. Definitely recommend it .
Great food, great service, and plenty of parking. Friendly and very accommodating
Great service!! Modified my order as wanted. One of the best spot.
They have outdoor seating in the parking lot! Tasty tasty food. Really friendly staff and owner. Will definitely be back!
Don’t get their “Momos” because they are just regular boiled frozen dumplings you can find in the grocery store.
Convenient location and the place had an amazing ambiance.
Wow! Delicious! Lamb Tiki Marsala, vegetable Momo and a Sam Adams on draft. The spice level were spot on and the flavors delicious. I dont have any room this time around, but from what Ive seen so far, Ill be back :-)
Amazing food
Delish! I was sad when the Nepalese place in Newton Centre and this was a delightful surprise find. We had a mix of chicken, lamb and veggie dishes and they were all fantastic. Note that “medium spicy” is actually VERY spicy.
Great nepalese restaurant, food was amazing Nd great customer service
Stopped for brunch. Lamb curry was excilent
Excellent food.
This place is SO GOOD. Great atmosphere, the food is absolutely delicious, and the staff are so kind and attentive. Support your local business and get some food here! The naan is fantastic and the tikka masala is my favorite.
Ambiance was nice, food was served quickly and was not spicy and yet had full flavor. Samosa had a chat type salt which gave them a welcome enhanced flavor. Flat rice with black Chick peas and chowmein noodles were all good. There was live traditional Nepalese music playing which was nice addition to the experience. We will be back again to try additional dishes.
Great service, friendly folks .. authentic food.
Decent Indian food for takeout. I would suggest getting India kitchen further down the road if you looking for good authentic Indian food.
Smart and friendly staff, well executed Indian food and very special Napalise dishes as well. Definitely going back.
Love the food. The staff are very pleasant... Food took a little bit but worth it and tasted fresh. Live music tonight - very nice. The Chulo tea was awesome!
Amazing Food. Highly recommended. Original Nepali food. Very impressed
Ordered carryout for lunch and it is SO GOOD! Ive been craving Indian for a while but my go-to spot near work isnt a convenient option anymore. Chulos saag paneer and chicken tikka masala were hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The spices were just right. The samosa are huge and filled with stuffing, not at all greasy. I highly recommend Chulo and am definitely going to be a return customer.
Outstanding test and service.I love this place..
Amazing people amazing food i love these guys, everytime i go their they are respectful, smiling and food is great, not expensive tasty big menu
Love the food, especially the roti, wonderful service.
Fantastic food!We ordered veg samosa which were probably the best I’ve had in a long time! Delicious filling and perfectly fried! Will definitely order these again. The chicken mo mo were also very good. Definitely recommend these! Then we’re got goat vindaloo in medium spice. They mean ‘Indian medium’ and not ‘white medium’ like so many other places around here! Finally some real spice!! But I need to admit that next time I’ll order the mild! I love spice but wow!!!The vindaloo was delicious. So happy to find goat cause almost nobody serves it.We ordered the beaten red rice not realizing that it’s literally flattened rice. Not sure how to use it but it was interesting - a new discovery. The naan bread was perfect. You won’t find better.HIGHLY recommend this place if you crave Indian food.
Authentic and tasty chicken momo!
Tables were set up outside in the parking lot due to Covid, great atmosphere if the weather is right. Food was excellent as was the service
Wow, even during quarantine, we were able to get service like this. My partner literally responded “what a time to be alive”. 😂 We’ve been so used to being treated badly everywhere because of COVID (like even our fav coffee shops says “what do you want” with a half-fast attitude when we order), we cannot believe this place was this friendly and warm. Food was AMAZING of course!
Highly I dont recommend. the foods are stale
Authentic Nepali food. Everything was fresh and reminded me of home!!!!
