*Very Cool Used Bookstore in Basement*We were passing through Wausau and decided to look around at some shops in town, and we literally only went here because we spent so much time looking around! There was a great selection of toys and books upstairs, but then we spent an hour in the basement looking through all the old used books! The kids had a blast looking through the old kids books, and we found many old books that will be great for homeschooling.Such a fun place to look through!

This place is a gem! Its everything that Barnes & Noble wishes it was with the added benefit of being a locally owned small business (the owners seem very nice.) The book and stationary selection is incredible, the staff is great, and they have things you wouldnt expect to see in a bookstore as well like knickknacks, artwork, handmade goods, and few vintage items and antiques. Really a unique place!

When I go back to visit Wausau I always try to make a stop here. They carry such a variety of unique merchandise its easy to spend hours browsing. The store is a treasure!

This is perhaps the largest privately owned bookstore in Wisconsin. It has a huge selection of books, magazines, and other items. It has great customer service. I always try to visit when Im in Wausau.

This store is STUFFED front to back and side to side with goodies for everyone! Books, puzzles, journals, greeting cards, art supplies, gifts, craft kits, toys, games, you really must go wether you are shopping for a gift or for yourself. Staff are wonderful and can order in books quickly if they dont have them in stock. It is my favorite store to visit in the Wausau area... Dont miss the basement used book section!

Jankes is much more than your typical bookstore. Not too long ago, they celebrated their 100th year of being in business. They carry many unique items which include books games and puzzles for all ages every visit opens up a new array of gift items. This is topped off with exceptional customer service. They definitely know the value of satisfied customers.

Im a big fan of independent bookstores, and this place is a wonderful little jewel. The book selection is limited, but really interesting. Lots of good books on nature and various aspects of Wisconsin, and a host of used books in the basement. Also, greeting cars and various neat little gift ideas! But one of my favorite things was there surprisingly HUGE magazine rack! I spent far more time here than I would have thought, and will definitely be going back again. RECOMMENDED!

They had wonderful cards and books on display that will be perfect for my great granddaughters upcoming 1st Birthday and her expected little sister wholl be just 14 months younger.

More than a bookstore. Great place for gifts and to buy fairly priced quality items. Shopped there many times over the years. Great people, great service, great products, great prices. Examples - I bought Russian Nesting Dolls, Extrodinary Pop-Up Books, Wooden Toys, Metal Crafted Lawn Ornaments. Highly recommend.

Cute little local bookstore that I visit whenever Ive in Wausau visiting family. Has a small selection of books though and a lot of greeting cards, gifts, and art supplies. Id rate it higher, but all the non-book things are pretty stereotypical of every little bookstore in every city. This Christmas, I saw exact same items Ive seen in a Barnes and Noble down in Milwaukee. I wish they either had more unique and local items or a larger book selection. Definitely worth a visit though.

Charming, organized book store with a good selection. Well-lit, well-staffed and has a good secondhand section downstairs. They sell some art supplies and a good spread of pens of all types, as well as gifts and basic paper party supplies.

Amazing my mom literally had to drag me out of there before I bought more books than my daughter could handle.. they had everything and anything and a ton of really cool smart kid toys too!

Janke Bookstore is a delight. They sell so much more than books. Gifts, cards, Wisconsin items, Badgers, Packers, etc. The basement is full of used merchandise, mostly 1/2 price.

They have an amazing variety of items in the store. We can always find the books were looking for, and we have fun looking at all the other things, including vintage items downstairs.

This store has everything! I get lost inside for hours and always come out with an armfull. They have tons of new books as well as lots of used books downstairs for kids and adults. They also sell socks, mugs, scarfs, bags, cards, and more. Its so fun to walk inside never knowing what I will come out with. The woman working on the day I visited was also very friendly and interesting to talk with. One tip before you go: if you need to use the restroom be sure to ask for the key.

Its one of Wausaus best retail treasures. They do a great job of bringing in new and fun items, along with a great selection of local history books. They have a bit of everything from books & magazines to office supplies, candles, jewelry, games and much more. They have a bargain basement with tons of deals of high quality hard cover books. If youre in a hurry, the staff is super helpful and knowledgeable, and if youve got the time, you could spend hours in there, and not at the same thing twice. If you visit Wausau, take a few minutes out of your day, and visit Wisconsins oldest bookstore. youll be glad you did.

This is our favorite place to stop and is only an hour away from our lake house. We stopped to get games and books for the Boys. They love looking at the giant taxidermy stuffed bear!

Great place to buy letters. They come in packs of 25 and they are really cheap. Definitely recommend for the price and the quality.
