Im writing this review as a former employee, not a customer. If you or someone you know is seeking employment through Route38 motorcars please think twice. The owner and Shop Manager will find a way to take advantage of you. My wages were never discussed because they wanted to see what I was capable of during the first few days. After 1 week I knew that it wasnt what I had expected. I waited for my paycheck in the mail and the owner paid me $440 for 51 hours. Absolute Joke.
Terrible management. If you want your paint to peel in a few years go here. Just wanna rush to make the quickest $$$. As they say “just putting lip stick on pigs”.
I recently had some rust and body work done on my truck by Route 38 Motor Cars. The entire process was great. Paulette was extremely courteous, professional, and easy to work with. I am incredibly happy with the quality of the work that was done on my vehicle. I will highly recommend Route 38 Motor Cars to anyone looking to get body work done on their vehicle.
I generally don’t post many reviews unless I feel strongly about doing so, and this is one of those cases. I was in getting my oil changed in my 2014 F150 Platinum at my local Ford dealership and asked them about getting an estimate on a few touch ups. They told me that they outsource all of their work to Route 38 Motor Cars and that’s where they would refer me to.I went in for an estimate in early June, and was very explicit about what I wanted done including doing the tailgate applique that the Platinum’s come with. I dropped my truck off for about a week, and rented a car on my own dime. When I picked up the truck a week later, much to my frustration I found that a 2-3 of the touch ups that I had requested had simply not been done. When I brought it up I was given excuses but no apology, I needed the truck that weekend so I had to take it, but I took it back in next week.Round 2, I picked the truck up, confirmed the touch ups had been done, and drove away. Though my experience wasn’t great, had it ended there I wouldn’t be writing this review. About 2-3 weeks later I noticed that the applique applied to the tailgate had begun to pull away from the tailgate in the center. I immediately called Route 38 and they told me to bring the truck in again so I did. The owner seemed to be baffled at why this was happening because they have done many of these and it must have been a faulty part, so they processed a warranty claim and I took the truck back in for the second applique. Again, excuses and no apology.I got the truck back and within 2-3 weeks the same thing happened, the applique started to peel away from the tailgate in the center, I called them, they told me to bring the truck back in so they could look at it and they again tried to justify it as a faulty part, which I didn’t buy at this point, but they said they would get back to me regarding next steps. This time, the follow up was not good at all. One week later I initiated contact and was told that they were now working with the local Ford dealership that had sent me there in the first place and they would get back to me when they knew something. One week later they got back to me and told me to contact a certain person in the local Ford dealership’s Service department. I did so, and they told me that I would need to bring it in so they could look at it and evaluate the situation. Ford took pictures of the area and a week later they called me and told me to bring it in, and that they would handle it, cutting Route 38 out, which relieved me.A few days later the service person that I was working with at the Ford dealership called me to get more context on the situation, apparently he was unaware that this had already been tried twice, he was only aware of the first time. A couple of days later I was told that they were taking my truck to a trim specialist (Gerber I believe) and they were going to apply the new applique. I got my truck back just before Thanksgiving and agreed with the individual at Ford that I would see how it looked after 2-3 weeks, it has been close to 7 weeks since I got it back and the applique is still snug against the tailgate, so I am convinced that this time it was done correctly. In closing, something that should have taken a week or slightly more turned into a more than 5 month debacle. In reading other reviews there is a common theme of arrogance and I cannot say that I disagree, Route 38’s owner expressed no remorse for the sub-par, shoddy work, or just the general inconvenience of having to bring my vehicle back multiple times. In short I found Route 38’s attention to detail and work to be sub-par, the business is run poorly and unprofessionally. It is surprising to me that a Ford dealership would choose to work with them. I will certainly never take anything back to them and I would certainly not refer anyone to them. Just look at the average review score, that will tell you all that you need to know.
Very honest people. They do good work and just want to help people out. When I first came in, they gave me a quote. After looking at the car further, they gave me a call for an update on the new quote. No work was done without my go ahead. Everyone I have encountered here are kind and easy to work with.
I have used this place twice for different cars and they have been great both times. Car looks good as new and their service was brilliant.
Paulette is the best, she’s very helpful and easy to work with. I have had work done here for my personal vehicle, as well as my business vehicle and it’s always been top notch!
Good shop for tint. However a little bit pricey. 250$ for 2 windows and windshield banner.
Work is beautiful, cant tell at all where the dent used to be. Staff was super friendly and helpful.I think some of the other reviews are confusing this for used car sales place by a similar name.
Fantastic experience! They were really helpful when I really needed it. I cant even tell where the damage on my car was. I will highly recommend Route 38 to everyone!
Great service and quality work
Around Thanksgiving 2014, my wife and I were involved in a head on collision at 25 mph. The car was drivable and we took it to the autobody shop referred by McGrath Honda of St. Charles to Route 38 Motor Cars where Don (the owner) gave us a reasonable estimate and repair time. The initial repair was delayed due to unforeseen reasons as well as a computer glitch in the car. About one year later; in early 2016, my wife came to me describing paint chipping off the driver-side front bumper which we had repaired by Route 38 Motor Cars. Due to the questionable unprofessionalism we encountered during the initial repairs, we decided not to further discuss this with Route 38 management. Please note, I have discussed this problem with paint flaking with multiple autobody professionals and they all concur the car front bumper was not prepped correctly (sanded) and not painted correctly (did not use flexitive).Fast forward to today; October2, 2018, I finally decided to take the car back to Route 38 Motor Cars where I spoke with the owner again. This time Don was completely abrasive even at the onset of our conversation. We went outside to look at the car and he instantly noted damage to the hood and grill from a hit and run to our car. He began to blame the paint flaking on mileage and wear on the car as normal. He stated his subordinates “have 20 years of experience” and all the other professionals I spoke with “don’t know what they are talking about.” He refused to do anything about the paint flaking, he even scratched more paint off the passenger-side front bumper in what seemed as another unprofessional courtesy. If I could have given this company a ZERO star rating, I would have; Bottom line, Don and Route 38 Motor Cars is not a reputable or quality establishment, DO NOT USE.
Went to rent a uhal with a freind. Over all service was good and staff was helpfull.
Fantastic service, friendly and very helpful. Thanks Courtney and Don!
