Hard to find a place that is knowledgeable about German cars. My wife has a 2013 2.5L Beetle and I was surprised to find out how many places I went to that were uncomfortable working on simple maintenance. Customer service was great and they were very easy to work with.

Was just in having my 2019 Tiguan R-Line tuned and exhaust added. Scott and Chris were awesome. I couldn’t think of a more professional on the level place to get pro work done on your car..seriously.They were very attentive to what I wanted snd offered solutions that made sense for me. I’m a fan and a customer now!

I had my 2017 Golf R tuned there a few months back. GRD installed all the IE stage 2 goodies and flashed it with the Stage 2 tune. Im pleasantly surprised it how smooth and quick this car is. Price was reasonable, the work was completed in a timely manner. Id definitely go back for future work.

Be careful doing business with GRDTuned. Make sure you get ALL of your stock parts back. This place uses strong arm tactics on their customers.

Leaving this 1 star review because after the 3rd time I had my car worked on here they still didnt do the work I brought it in for. They found other little things to help my performance but skipped the actual issue all 3 times. Voiced my concerns about it and they made it seem like my cars performance issues made it so they couldnt return my car to me! So beware and take your business elsewhere if you want quality, or hell, even decent work done. I learned the hard way that this place is a joke, hope nobody else has a similar experience.

Ive been trying to do a stage 3 tune on my Audi for 3 months.Ive emailed Jake, its like pulling teeth. He cant handle the work load or doesnt care. iv been ready to go to get this done and communicating with this company is impossible. no one gets back to me and Ive been so patient. latterly cant get them to respond in a way that moves things forward. how the hell they even make money is beyond me. maybe I have to sat a magic word or something.. Im supper disappointed in how it all went down. I would stay away form these guys until they find a better way to organize themselves.

GRDTuned will whip your whip into shape. My slow B8.5 Audi is now APR Stage II quick.Professional and friendly enough work. My only gripes are being stuck more than an hour beyond expected finish time once and having to fill out the same form on every visit.

I called 2 days ahead ask about the stage one upgrade for a 2014 A7 the guy give me the info I said great when can I come he said for that you can actually come on Saturday and it will take about half an hour so bam woke up made the 50 min drive pulled up Guy was super nice super informative 30 mins later I was driving completely different car and guy!!!! Took my car there for them to install coilovers and a full turbo back exhaust system from Armytrix. When picking up my car, the car was undrivable. Drove it two blocks down the street and the fenders were rubbing on the tire. Took it back so they could adjust the height (they told me everything was fine and they drove the car before) and they lost my spanner wrench. They had to manually adjust the height with a flat head and a hammer as they were not able to locate it I told them i needed my spanner wrench back and they never did give it back or try to replace it with a new one. I told them to return my APR downpipe with the car and then later realized they placed a GTI downpipe in the box instead of my APR downpipe (shady). Now they cant find my downpipe, they wont even respond to my e-mails.

Great shop, friendly helpful staff, will always go out of the way to make sure you are satisfied.

Very shady business, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. They might steal your wheels and tires.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Both management and ownership are grossly incompetent and should not be trusted. They improperly installed multiple parts and misdiagnosed a simple issue as a blown motor. They do shoddy work (at best) and do not stand behind it whatsoever. Lose a worm gear clamp? No problem—chicken wire will do! Forget to install the O2 sensor on the downpipe? No big deal—weld a bung into the midpipe where it’s sure to quickly foul. The list goes on. I wouldn’t trust this shop to inflate a tire. Patronize at your own risk—you’ve been warned.

Stage 2 with IE on my 2019 A4 Sline. Been going here for over a year now getting my services done and I’m extremely happy with the pricing and the customer service. Very friends and ask for JAKE....very knowledgeable and helpful with all your questions

P*ss poor service starting from lack of communication, to getting the actual work done. i needed a simple install of an intake pipe done. They were confused from the beginning - i had to provide them with the information from the manufacturer (its only a tube that goes between engine and airbox, thats it). anyway it was done incorrectly; i asked the tuner about it, got no response. thanks guys! now i have to go elsewhere to someone reliable that can actually do the job right. Better off going to dealer.

GRD was recommended to me by several people and each one of my 3 visits has been great! Everyone is very friendly and take the time to go over things. You don’t feel like you’re being pressured for a sale. I can now recommend them myself!

In my opinion this is one of the best if not the very best shop in the Chicagoland area when it comes to sourcing VW auto group performance parts or even other brands. Beware of the friendly staff that smile as they take your money, This all started in 2018 they have had my car for over 6 months at one point and they can’t fix what they messed up, and now they say it is something that I did, have spent over 6 thousand dollars with these thief’s and my car is still not fixed, now they say that the transmission is shot and will not work on it until that is fixed, well they did the transmission flush and left the drain plug loose so it was leaking oil out the next day so I took it back to have them add to the proper level and they did another transmission flush for another$200.00Even the owner will not get back to me to try and figure it out, trust me don’t take your car here try pugie VW in downers grove, that is where I’m going

Got my Cat-Back exhaust installed today and everything went well. The workers were very honest. Only downside was the bathroom but what do you expect. Other then that, my work on my car was excellent.

Came in for a Pre Purchase Inspection on a Volkswagen GTI and the service was excellent and the staff was super super helpful!

(I dont know the name of the mechanics, but apparently they were covered in grease, so thank you!)I feel these guys care about their customers and craft. My whole experience had some kinks that needed ironing out, but theyve been more than patient and communicative with me.Id take a star down for some delay and back-and-forth, but they went out of their way to fix an underlying problem for a lot cheaper and possibly at their expense.So yeah, Im going to recommend them!

NEVER EVER take your car here for any sort of work. Before taking my vehicle to GRD I read the reviews to see if it was a reputable shop, after doing so I decided to take my car in for a turbo job. They came back to me and said the turbo on my vehicle blew and because of that the motor went with it. They explained to me that there was so much copper in the oil pan they were able to draw in it. Scott, the manager, explained that it would cost between 7-10k to fix after buying a used motor and turbo. After a few weeks of the worst customer service I’ve ever seen I decided to take the car to another shop and continue the work there. Once I was there they took me to the back and opened the oil pan in front of my eyes and to my surprise there was no metal in the pan at all. This new shop went on with ordering me a new turbo and finished the job within a few days. I’ve driven the car roughly 30 miles with no problems at all. Moral of the story, don’t ever trust these guys with any sort of work, other reviews may make it seem reputable but once they see an opportunity to make a lot of money they will jump on it whether it’s morally wrong or not. They will lie to you in front of your face and shrug it off like nothing happened. If I were able to give them 0 stars I would.

Great shop. Easy, quick, and organized. Jake answered all my questions before, during, and after my visit. So far Ive only been to get my B8.5 reflashed from a higher altitude 91 octane tune. Felt a nice difference. After my experience Im sure Ill be back to see them when its time for suspension upgrades or for more powaah! Thanks guys!

These guys wasted my time.Called ahead to let them know what I was looking to do which was have them install a resonator delete (midpipe) on my new VW Atlas. Got a quote/estimate for mechanical hours time spent to do the install. Drove 26 miles to their location only to be told (incorrectly) that I needed two of the pipes (because I have dual exhaust) in order to do the job. This information was incorrect because all the midpipe does is bypass the restrictive resonator. I ran this disinformation by a couple friends of mine who are VW/Audi technicians and they both said I was lied to and that they mustn’t have wanted to do the job because I’d not purchased the part from them and that they were trying to upsell me instead of just doing the work that I’d spoken to them about before making the 52 mile round trip to their facility.Lazy.Dishonest.Thanks for nothing!

They messed up a simple stage 1 tune that bricked my ECU after a week.

Jake worked with me for over 2 hours to help me find the exact setup I wanted for my car. He even went as far as giving me a ride in his own personal car. Very knowledgeable and approachable! I highly recommend GRDTuned.

Very unorganized, would tell me one price and when it was time to pay they would tell me otherwise, went in for stg2 tune and said that they didn’t have it for some reason!!! Only good for stage 1 tuning after that, very poor job! I switched over to Midwest performance, if I was you I would too!

Put in a order for a fuel pressure valve on 10/26. Item showed being IN STOCK. After ordering, I was hit with an email stating that the valve will ship in a week and that I would receive a shipping confirmation email. After not receiving anything for another two weeks, I decided to email back inquiring about my order, where I received an email saying that I was sent a refund notification on 11/5 (which I never received the email) and was told that neither GRD nor APR had the valve in stock. (Which was false because I ended up getting the valve off apr after all) So all in all, this place did absolutely nothing for me other than waste 3 weeks of my time.

They have been very helping with my warranty process for APR exhaust.  Their customer service is top-level, they want you to be happy and are willing to help out in any way.  Jake is awesome, I highly recommend him to anyone that has questions.

Every time i go to GRD for questions or to pick up parts i always come away with a confident feeling in the info i gained and the new APR parts i purchased. Jake will take the time that is needed in answering questions so that i understand whats going on with my car or what im upgrading and what supporting mods i should check out next. For someone that is still learning the MQB platform i like being able to go to a friendly local shop like GRD and not feel intimidated.

GRD Tuned is OUTSTANDING. After the Audi dealership misdiagnosed an issue with our S6 and wanted $7700 to try to fix it, Earl at RGD properly understood the real issue and for $1100 the problem was solved!!! RGD is now my 1st choice for any Audi work. Friendly, courteous, timely, very technically competent...good value for your money. People you can trust!!

Appreciate everyone here - amazing super helpful and with best pricing likely half what a dealer would charge if not less - fixed my power steering pump issues, swapped/upgrades seats and made my shifter the best it’s ever been. I can’t say enough good things about everyone I’ve interacted with at GRDTuned!!!

Waited two hours for them to start my car after the scheduled time, I still wait an extra hour then what they said for them to finish my install. I schedule an alignment a week later and in the meantime deal with a nasty clunk sound from the rear. Told them about it the following week and had my alignment done. After 3 and a half hours!! They claim they looked and tightened everything. I was given no print out of my alignment specs. Left and still had the sound. Got an oil change a couple days later and the dealer noticed the sway bar was tightened down at all. Pathetic the dealer has to fix their mistakes. Id be surprised if they even did an alignment on my car. Stay away from these hacks! They have no idea what they are doing.

I have been a frequent customer since I purchased my Audi S5 early 2018. Adrian and the staff have been great to work with and help resolve any issues with post purchase and installation.

Had an exhaust installed and was happy with the results. Checked all the clamps and were tight and were all evenly spaced which cured my OCD. Very professional place with good service. Even willing to hold my stock exhaust till I can get it transported. Will be back.

The reason I checked out this shop is because when I went for a one year service to my Audi dealer, they said that I had to change my brakes and the quote was expensive ($1500). I was looking for good shops who can give me a better quote and found out that this shop is an authorized APR tuning place. The people there were really good and honest. They inspected my brakes and said that I dont need to change it for another 10k miles. They were also really helpful in answering as many questions as I asked. And I finally got stage 1 apr tuning for a discounted price. Their service was great too.

I stopped in to inquire about an APR stage 1 tune for my Audi S4. After discussing with Noy, I decided to have it done that day. The car was brought back out in less than an hour! I am very impressed with the level of customer service of GRD Tuned. I look forward to going more upgrades with them soon. The APR stage 1 tune on the Audi 3.0T motor REALLY wakes it up!!! Car is even more fun to dive!

I found this company online when I was looking for an APR dealer to modify my GTI Mk6. I had only read about the various APR modifications for VW/Audi automobiles and had no other knowledge or experience. I was immediately impressed by there knowledge of the various APR products over the phone and equally impressed by the cleanliness of their shop when I visited to get the work done. Any and all of my questions and concerns about the modifications I was considering were addressed and I cannot be any happier with the service I received and especially the impact the modifications had on my Mk6. When I upgraded to a Mk7.5, there was no question I would return to them to assist with this car as well and indeed they did. Now I can recommend GRDTuned two times over to anyone with a VW/Audi product who is not satisfied with stock and is looking for a qualified and knowledgeable tuner to assist them.

Brought my new MK7 to the guys at GRD tuned and with me being a total noob to modifications these guys really exceeded my expectations. Adrians communication was awesome. I had no idea where to start on my car and he took the time to explain everything in depth and gave me all my different options, you can feel his passion for cars when he talks. Earl, the tech in the back just absolutely blew mind with the depth of knowledge he has. They made some really good suggestions and I ended up getting the APR ECU Tune with an upgraded clutch and a APR downpipe. Went in for an APR Stage 1 tune and an oil change. After 3 hours of waiting I got my car back, everything looked fine. Once I got home I opened up the hood and what do I see? A mechanic left his channel lock wrench on the side of my engine bay... what if it had fallen into my engine bay during my drive home on the highway? Also I checked the receipt for my service to find that I had the wrong oil put into my car which was not Volkswagen certified. Very careless on both accounts. I emailed them about it and the owner does not even have the time to reply to my message. Is that what you call service? Very unproffesional. I would take my business elsewhere in hopes that no more tools are left in critical parts of the car and the proper service is done to my car.

Quality work but upfront customer service could be better.

4 months after install, I keep on finding evidence of poor installation. I wanted to be happy with the results but the attention to detail is subpar from GRD. From overtorquing the pinch bolt on the aluminum uprights and using something to pry the gap (big no-no with these uprights), not installing all the provided hardware, randomly placing hardware where it don’t belong, and finally putting on components backwards. The shop tried their best to make things right in the past, but after discovering a component was out on backwards today, I just can’t stop to think if there could be anything else. Don’t get me wrong, the front staff is great. It’s just whoever did my suspension install, I would not recommend.

The words trust and cars dont always go hand and hand. Having experienced a few less then enjoyable experiences at other shops around chicagoland I was quickly loosing hope. Finding GRD has been an amazing experience that has helped repair and modify my car exactly how I wanted it done. The Staff is very knowledgeable and willing to share their insight and Knowledge. Now with most of the prior shops this meant trying to convince me to spend money that I did not need to spend. I have never felt this way with GRD and have always been given honest opinions that actually saved me money. Plus their quotes for services are fairly priced.The Front of the shop is large with a cozy seating area that makes waiting an enjoyable experience. Again I will compare this to some of the cramped and uncomfortable waiting areas I have endured in the past. I was actually able to get some work done while I waited.Bonus for the fridge stocked full of water and full coffee bar. bathrooms are clean and follows suit with the rest of the high end shop experience.The cases are lined with all sorts of performance products that you can install into your car that day! No waiting or coming back to get the parts since they actually have stock of the products at the shop.The Trip to get here from the north side of the city is a hike but straight forward highway driving makes the trip well worth it.This is a must go place for any VW/Audi enthusiast or just needs a shop who can give you the best service and care for your car!
