Been going there for a long time. Not around much anymore. But even with a face covering I am still recognized. Good people and i would recommend you making a visit.

I usually have good experiences with Ace hardware and their online pick up service except today with this store location.I ordered a sample of paint to be pick up on the same day since the store could usually mix it within 1 hr. However, the staff member there who is an older man with curly hair was very rude to me and seen yelling at another staff member said it wasnt possible to prepared on the same day. He reluctantly tried to mix the paint color for me but their computer system was down. I ended up canceling the order and going to another Ace store.

The people at this store is always very helpful & friendly every time i walk in.

They had an extension ladder i needed for 20 dollars less than home depot was charging for the same ladder. Convienent place to get lumber as well

The staff is knowledgeable and act like they care about the customer. They might not have everything under the sun, but its a far better experience than the big box rivals.

I have tried in good faith to support them four years, but no more. Not sure why but their customer service is awful

I called to ask if they had a specific snow blower available and the guy said yes. I asked if he could make sure since the website said there wasn’t anymore and he said they did. I asked how many they had and he said “idk like two”. I asked if I could purchase one over the phone and pick it up the next day and he said he could place one on hold and I could pick it up tomorrow. About an hour later I realized I forgot to ask them a question regarding the snow blower so I called again and spoke with someone else just to find out that they actually only had one in stock and it was sold online not too long ago so now there was none left. I had asked the first time if I could pay for it over the phone and they told me no so it was sold to someone else. This place is 40 min away from me but we were gonna drive for it since it was the only place with it. They didn’t even call me to tell me it was sold out so if I hadn’t called back I would have drove out there to purchase a whole lot of nothing.

With everyone being at home during the pandemic, there have been quite a few tasks being done around the house. This Ace has been nothing but super helpful. The staff is great, knowledgeable, and they clearly keep the store clean. Highly recommend for their professionalism and knowledge.

I did Not visit this store, but called them to inquire if they had something I needed. Unfortunately, they didnt. But the young lady I spoke with was Very Nice & informative. Convenience. Not best prices, but for quick easy to get good enough. Best place to get copies of keys. Perfect everytime. I dont trust anywhere else for keys being cut. I will keep going to this location and the employees are nice.

Was happy to see everyone wearing a mask when I arrived today. Unfortunately, when I went to checkout the cashier had her mask around her neck and was yawning and could have cared less. While your customers are wearing them, your employees should provide us the same protection. Very disappointed and I will not be back!

This is exactly where and what I need when I need hardware help, advice and supplies. The crew at Bales is the home of the helpful hardware folks. Projects, supplies, screens repaired, keys cut they do it. Theyve got a little bit of everything and very knowledgeable people. Thanks for delivering my Weber Grill last year too.

Nice hardware store with even nicer employees. Recently had to warranty a ratchet from craftsman so I came here since I live in town. Stan the owner helped me and was very professional and polite and felt like genuinely enjoyed his business and wanted to help. Anything I need for home or repair I will check with then first to support his business.

Staff, including the owners who work there full time, are 100% friendly and helpful at all times Ive been in the store. For example, tonight I went in to get a bag of salt. The clerk at the front of the store showed me where the salt was located and explained the differences between the different brands. I selected one brand and immediately a staff member pick up to 40 pound bags of salt and threw them over his shoulder and carried them out to my van. Meanwhile the clerk directed me to the other items I needed. After I collected the other items, I went to the checkout counter and the clerk rang up all my items including the two bags of salt. Another staff member carried my remaining items to my car for me.This is typical of the kind of service I have come to expect from Bales Ace Hardware.

Just a nice local Lumber and Hardware store. I say Lumber and Hardware because they have quite a large Lumber selection so if youre looking for a place to get supplies for your building project they can probably help you out there too. Theyll do everything from set you up with what you need to build a shed or garage or just cut a couple two-by-fours down to size for you. They really are the full service local family hardware store. They even do screens for you if youve ripped your old ones. Family service and some of the staff has been there for as long as Ive been going there and its been over 20 years. Good stuff at maybe not as low of a price as the big box stores but with that personal service. you can run in a hurry because its close by instead of making you travel all the way over to those big stores. Consider them next time you need some things to finish your project. I think youll find them really helpful and they have a pretty good selection of stuff there. Again they may not have everything the big box stores have but they probably have what you need to get what youre doing done. By the way they also carry a lot of stuff for older houses so sometimes they have things the big box stores dont even carry. Great little place, been there forever. Highly recommended :-)

The staff is always kind and knowledgeable; they will actually help you find things (unlike some big box stores that only work in certain departments so cant help you... ) Ask for Stan when you go, hes awesome. Always smiling, always helpful, and he listens and tries to find you the right tool for what you need.

This is a great neighborhood hardware store. The people working there are always genuinely happy to help and offer advice. If you go in with a problem, theyre going to help you figure it out and most likely succeed. Prices are comparable to Home Depot and Id much rather support these guys.

Bales is the epitome of a small, accessible, local, Family owned store. I have never had a bad experience here. The people that work there are friendly and always willing to take the time to make sure you find everything you need. I, personally, am not the most handy person in the world and Ive always been treated with respect and patience as they give me tips on how I can complete my household jobs. I cant say enough good things about Bales, please support local business and pass as much love there way as you can.

I’ve been having problems with my snowblower that is almost 20 years old. I want to be prepared for the snow which is sure to come. I recently moved into an area where snow removal is taken care of for the residents, however, not always early enough in the day. I talked to Stan about having the snowblower fixed versus buying a new one. Stan asked about how much area I had to clear. I told him a two car driveway and a walkway. He said that there might be another option. The option was a Toro Power Snow Shovel. I looked it over online, read the reviews and asked Stan to order it for me. He had it in the store two days later and called me to pick it up. Haven’t used it yet, but all indications are that it will do the job for me. If it works as good as I think it will, I’ll be getting a couple of more for other members of the family with smaller spaces to shovel. Seems like a great, lightweight way to move the snow. Thanks Stan for the recommendation and the excellent customer service.

Ordered a grill online. When calling in to pick up, the store offered me a DEFECTIVE grill. And they had the gall to ask if I still wanted it.

Like Bales always helpful . But never get keys made there. After going back 3 times for bad keys just went somewhere else. If you ever have a hard to find item Stan always come through.

Usually have good experience. Think prices are high but normally good customer experience. That is unless they are wrong. Then manager will argue or just outright ignore what you are saying and just keep telling you, that your wrong. I wasnt, but God forbid they admit they are wrong.

Just moved to Westmont and of course have already made a trip to the local hardware store. They had everything I needed and the prices were reasonable so Ill likely be making many more trips for projects.

Worst place to work at terrible management especially manger named Paul. I am a former employee there and he criticized everything I did and told me nobody wants me working there. Very aggressive verbally and thinks he is better than all the employees. Acts kind of creepy towards people. I also wouldn’t recommend shopping there everything is wayyy over priced.

We needed to order a specific part that was not carried in the stores. Living at the south end of town Id never gone to Bales, so I thought Id try keeping it local this time instead of going to Ace at 63rd and Fairview. We ordered the part, payed for it and were told it would be in Tuesday. We went in on Tuesday to find it was never even ordered, along with 5 other special orders. What surprised me was no offer to make it right. Just Heres your money back. I think this is a very disrespectful way to treat your customers. It might explain why, on the 2 trips to the store, there was only one other customer in there each time. Needless to say we wont be shopping local at this place again.
