This is a great restaurant with a broad variety of tasty options. From breakfast to dinner, and a fabulous bakery. Yesterday I had a BLT on toasted Focaccia. Best sandwich in years. Also good service, fun decor and a fairly large parking lot. Been coming here for years and never disappointed. Check it out.
Great casual place with a bit of an upscale feel. Staff was very friendly. I thought the food was 5 star (roast turkey BLT) and my wife gave her cheddar burger 4. The turkey was melt-in-your-mouth, with a flavorful but kickless horseradish Mayo (could have been kickier). Im a hard sell on restaurant potato salad, but their potato salad was perfect in creaminess and seasoning. Dipped a few of my wifes crunchy fries in the horsey mayo -- the chef might consider making that an app option. Waiter visited several times through the meal. Just a great time.
I started with the pita and tzatziki. Pitas were warm and crispy, tzatziki creamy and fresh. The focaccia was toasty and perfect on the turkey club sandwich. I also appreciate a restaurant where they will do a half and half diet Coke/Pepsi and root beer. Topped off with their coffee and pumpkin pie, which was unique rich and creamy. So worth the premium pricing.
Best fried cod sandwich Ive ever had! Very light and crispy, accompanied with hot and crispy fries. Delicious! Excellent service too. I recommend it.A little expensive, but thats how it is in Westchester.
Great food. Ordered a burger and wasnt to sure if I really wanted it and boom... It was delicious. Nice thick cut bacon and pattie was great. Dont have any photos this time so next time I stop in here hopefully Ill have some photos to share.
City Limits has been a favorite of mine for quite a while. Its what I would call an upscale diner.Service is excellent as is the food and I havent been disappointed by anything Ive eaten there.
City Limits Diner did not disappoint. Good atmosphere, good food, good service...its a diner with a local feel but just a step above your idea of a diner! Parking is tricky (there is a lot but its always full- that should tell you something !!)-you may have to wait for a space but its week worth the wait.
Expensive. Had a western omelette that was $14.75 + $2.99 for coffee. they don’t even mix the onions, peppers & ham inside the omelette. They just add it on top then fold the omelette like a soft taco. There hash browns weren’t that good either, it was like a square piece of cake. My wife had a BLT on focaccia bread & said it was good though. Service was good.
Good food great service from our waiter Cesar loved his costume.

Friends and I have come here for lunch as a central meeting place for about 20 years. The service is excellent as is the food. They also have delicious baked goods you can buy. The servers are very accommodating for special requests and occasional substitutions as needed. The only problem had been parking, although not in my most recent experience last week. But there is always turnover, so just be patient or park on the street. Its worth it.
Could have gone to an actual diner. This breakfast/brunch had to have been one of the most bland and beyond basic meals Ive ever paid for. The kids burger was dry and not to mention unpleasant to the eye. The child didnt even want to eat it- even I stopped encouraging him from eating it once I got a taste and glimpse of it. My omelet wasnt horrible, just incredibly bland (although I did like the cream cheese touch they added to it!). The other meals at the table were fine...but nothing to write home about. So my final word on this review: For the overall cost of this meal...never again.
Went for lunch.I had an bacon egg and sausage omlete,, was cooked perfectly. My wife had a burger, and It was delicious. Food here is consistently good, plus their baked goods are to die for. Try the chocolate cheese cake.
Delicious Mac n cheese. Great omelets. Everyone was happy with their food. And people talk about their maple syrup, it is really good.
Ive been here a few times in the past and it was good, but this time, the food was terrible. The omelette was unappealing. I ordered the western omelette with pepper jack cheese. Once I got it and cut into, I was surprised to see that the vegetables and ham were not chopped up like it usually would be in an omelette. It was sliced into long pieces as if they were making a fajita. It also had way too much onions. The turkey bacon I ordered was stale and rubbery like they made it yesterday and just reheated it. The only thing that saved them from getting a 1 star rating was the hash browns. Those were good. I wont be returning here again.
Great food and breakfast value. coffee is a bit light for my taste. attentive waitress service
I would classify this place as an upscale diner. Large dining area, great service, and consistently high quality food. Burgers are among the best in the area. The pasta dishes, along with the salads are also top notch. Breakfast served all day. Parking can be a bit tight during popular times.
My husband said his hamburger was the best. I love the cob turkey wrap. service was great too
I like this Diner, its clean and up to date. Enjoyable menu items. The restroom is downstairs. Didnt notice an elevator
A delicious meal, the hash browns were awesome. Crispy outside, soft inside, not overly salted... The hash, egg white omelet and coffee were great too!
1st impression a really nice place. Warm atmosphere. Me and and my girlfriend had a nice breakfast. Everyone there was enjoying themselves. Nice waiter. Good breakfast. Will return for lunch then dinner to make sure.
Very busy but wasnt an issue, very good service
The food here was very good and so was the service. I hope to come back to this establishment again.
Friendly staff, with a classic dinner feel. Drinks were ok but the food could have been better, and the pie I ordered was the worst I have tasted in a while. Stay away from the key lime pie.
As usual, amazing menu, consistent output, high quality products and the best service ever. Were repeated consumers.
I had the the breakfast surf and turf and I thought it was good but I dont mind food without salt. My sister had an omelette but wouldnt eat it bc she found it flavorless. Everyone agreed that the French toast was good. The food takes a little while so I wish they would have a breadbasket to put out on the table. The Mimosa were great and I definitely go again.
Soup needed more flavor but they get you out quick n fast.
Forever fans of CL. It serves all facets of our family’s life, business and personal. Every meal is notable. In over 20+ years, never a negative. Staff are loyal and excellent.
I always enjoy having breakfast/brunch! And George is the best!
Great breakfast and service. So glad to be back to City Limits after the pandemic, happy they are still open! City limits always makes for a feel good meal and atmosphere.
The food came out quickly. The service was adequate, a tiny bit slow on drink refills and waiter service, especially seeing they were only 10% full. Food was very good, past diner food. Came out just the way it was ordered. Decor never seems to get old even though its still the same as it was when they opened in 94 I think. Very clean and worth the visit. Oh and FREE and valet parking a must in the White Plains area nowadays.
Ive never had a bad, or empty, cup of coffee, and the salmon omelet is one of the best Ive ever had. Definitely worth trying.
I love this place! Have been going since the 1990s. My favorite dish is Heuvos Rancheros!
My girlfriend and I enjoy going here. She always gets breakfast and I do as well depending on the day. On Fathers day I got the half chicken and it was good. So come on down and I did from Connecticut
Soooo good!! Crab&lobster eggs Benedict was delicious, paired it with a mango mimosa and I was in heaven.
A friends favorite diner. Very good food, especially the pie. Bring your wallet, but worth every penny.
The food here is really delicious! The diner also has a very friendly environment. The staff is really warm and welcoming!
Place was crowded but did not have to wait too long to be seated. Based on other reviews I agree that prices are higher than your regular dinner. Some of the breakfast platters did not included egg, toast and hash browns like other dinners and the add ons add up a little pricey, like two scramble eggs for an extra $5. (Ouch!). Asked for an appetizer but the server brought it at the same time with the entree (too many plates on the table, not enough space To eat comfortably) Overall the ambiance was good and the taste of food, great! A good food experience from the ordinary dinner. They have baked goods by the front of restaurant and the staff is very welcoming!
Very good food and excellent service. The room is a little noisy but otherwise a great place.
Great food. Owned by a local family restaurant group. Lets support them and the restaurant staff. I love that they have all day breakfast. The dinner menu hanger steak is very good. Order medium rare. The breakfast corned beef hash is home made. There baked goods will definitely delight. If you like banana cream pie theres is excellent.
Over priced for the food . No care put into their menu.Place looks fancy but its horrible
Yummy granola. We told them we were in a hurry and they were able to bring the food out quickly for us.
Absolutely fantastic food and great service! Try the Lobster and Crab Benedict!
I’ve been dining at CityLimits from the day the opened on Central Avenue close to 25 years ago! I remember when the Lavanos Family had a restaurant on the corner where they built what looked like an upscale diner. While CityLimits is opened for breakfast and lunch as well as dinner, their menu, which resembles what you would find in a diner is really what you would find in a very classy restaurant. This evening we ordered their Lemon Chicken Kabab and their seared salmon. Both were exceptionally prepared and worth what we paid for our dinners. My one complaint ( which didn’t impact on my rating of giving them 5 Stars) is that the only semblance to a roadside diner is how they serve their butter! Instead of providing fresh butter or olive oil for their delicious homemade breads, we received 3 little packets of butter, individually wrapped! This is where CityLimits chooses to act like a diner! I don’t expect this review to change the way they run their very successful restaurant empire but it is almost comical given the superb dining experience that every guest feels while enjoying their meals.
Good food, very accommodating. Service perfect. And they have on site parking
This is a great diner with lots of options. The place is very large so there’s plenty of seating. It was quite busy when I went, but we were seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodated us throughout our visit. The menu had lots of options for breakfast and lunch. Our food tasted excellent and we all had a good time. This diner is a great place for families or other large groups.
The food and service is always top notch. I like that they have a grill to char burgers and other meats. The parking lot is kind of tight, but I always got a spot. The menu isnt as extensive as other diners but that is not a bad thing. When a diner has a giant menu, that means everything is frozen.
This upscale Diner is quite Retro, large, and has a pretty extensive menu. The Basics are always good and its a popular place for Groups and Families. The Service was on point considering our waiter had a huge party right next to us. It was pretty crowded but they close at 9pm so not late. Expensive for a few Eggs, Tomato and Avacado. My friend got a Big Burger & Extras so price was on par. 4 Stars because they have a very small parking lot for the size of the place and only 2 Handicap Spaces.
Delicious, excellent service and we received our meals quickly. A great spot to hit in White Plains.
We are on a turkey club quest, and this one is especially good...fresh roasted turkey, well constructed, and cheerful service at the take-out side door (nice not to have to go inside!).
Expensive for poor quality food. Won’t be back. My omelet was over cooked... hash browns came out as a brick. Servers were very nice and attentive though
Bald guy in the front tries to be the mask police, you have a packed dining room of people seated eating unmasked and every adult has access to vaccines, enough enforcement of this ridiculous policy that does nothing to curb spread whatsoever. The food was not good, cold, and took forever to arrive. The only reason I gave any stars is because our server Brian was a good guy.
The place was great, definitely a bit of a classy/ modern feel to a diner. Food was delicious but the quantity was really small and not filling. Service is great and they are quick to getting around to make sure you have everything you need. If it wasnt for the portion size it wouldve been 5 stars
One of my favorite dinners. Food is good. Service a little slow but every is very professional
LOVED it! Sat in the bar area, super nice bartender. Surprised to see the Happy Hour specials!!! Cant wait to go back!!
Can have busy times causing slower service. Especially breakfast/lunch. BUT food great!
This place has gone way down since covid. Limited menu, I would only go back for breakfast or brunch.
Bad tasting food, expired ketchup. Overpriced for OK tasting. Prices compare to some of my favorite places Half Moon, Catch, Jean George’s (the one in the Hudson valley), and 3 westerly but the food tastes packaged and minimally seasoned.
I was very hungry, after a over note bus trip from Atlanta to white plains, the waiter seated all five of us, and we wait almost 45 minutes to place our order, and the meal was cold, hope it will be better next time.
This is by far my favorite diner. The food is wonderful and you leave full!!! If there is a line, its worth the wait!
Dont bother!! Waste of money!!!!! It is very expensive for no good reason. Nothing that came to the table was edible. It was very dry and the servers tried to fix it, but it didnt help. The bathroom smelled like roach spray and very dirty. First and last time.
First time going there. Food really good
If you’re looking for a high-end diner, look no more. If you’re looking for your average run-of-the-mill joint, this isn’t for you. This diner does everything netter than good enough. The steaks are good enough to satisfy a steak craving, the burgers are great and good enough to satisfy a burger craving, etc. etc.
Great service and beautiful diner, corn beef hash and poached eggs was delicious.
Its such a surprise when you go inside. Because its a diner, I went in expecting the usual diner experience and decor. Its more high-end and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is light and airy. We invited my sister and brother-in-law to come out to breakfast with us. They drove all the way from Long Island to have breakfast at City Diner and they really enjoyed the experience. Both of us got a key lime pie on the way out and it was amazing!
So impressed with the service and food freshness. Everything was top notch
Always a great meal! Nice staff too 🙂
Good food. Pricy for a diner. Would return .
They dress up the staff real nice, and the food came out so quick. Will return
Ive been eating there for just about the past 10 years. The food is always good. Weather your having breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Janice at the bar definitely knows her business. Shes the best. And Tony the manager is also. Making sure things are running right.
Nothing bad to say, always a great experience. Food was great with an extensive menu to boot.
