If you ever need any work done on your car go to these guys!!! I came out of work yesterday at 5:20pm to a nearly flat tire. I googled what tire place was open until 6pm that could put some air in the tire for me so I could get home and figure out where to take the car the next day to get it fixed. I showed up at 5:30 and they put air in the tire before realizing I had a large piece of metal stuck in the tire. At this point the guy helping went and got the manager, Roger. They took a look at it and decided that I didnt need to try to drive home (25 minute drive) on it as it would lose air too quickly. So they took my car right then and there, plugged the hole, and only charged me $20. I was out of there by 5:50pm. Ive never experienced such professional and kind workers when it comes to vehicle repairs or maintenance but these guys were so great and didnt try to make a ton a of money off of me. Cant thank them enough or recommend them enough!!!

Very helpful, affordable, and fast! Patched one of my tires and made sure all my other tires were good as well.(I did forget to tell them that my drivers side door handle was broken though so guys if you’re seeing this I’m sorry if you got trapped in my car.)

I’ve moved a lot and one of the things I worry about in any new location is finding an auto shop that I can trust. I’m glad I found College Rd Tire & Auto! They’re straight up with you and don’t try to oversell. They even backed off a diagnosis I had from another shop (that I was suspect about) when they could have easily just told me it needed to be done. Theyre theives. I went in to get $2000 worth of work done to my car. While doing repairs they broke a power steering line and made ME PAY FOR IT! $150!!!!!! Im still dealing with what damage they did to my steering mechanism months later because they never fixed their own mistake properly and I refuse to have them touch my car again, warranty or not.

I took my car in for an inspection, and was told I needed a tire. I chose to replace two and get an alignment. Soon after getting the car back, I noticed it was still pulling to the right, which it was doing before the alignment. I took the car back to be aligned again. At that point I was told the problem was a right front caliper, and that two were recommended, and the new brake pads, etc. that would then be needed. That bill would be over $600.00. Knowing that a sticking caliper usually results in a pull to the side when braking, I took the car to a mechanic I trusted and have known for years. He checked everything and I did need a rear caliper, but was told there were no other problems at all. When I called College Road Tire rather irate, I was treated with a rather cold attitude and told to bring the car back in. This time I was told again that there was a slightly sticky right front caliper, but it could be a defective front tire or possibly rack and pinion. I bought the tires from there as stated above about three weeks before, but was told there was no warranty if it was a tire. A few days later, I took the car to another shop to align it. They did and stated there were absolutely no problems with anything else, which they put in writing. The car drives perfectly straight now! When I spoke to the owner, all he kept saying was Im sorry we couldnt meet your expectations. My expectations were not to be cheated! I thought he would at least refund my money for the alignment, but again, all he would say was the comment about not meeting my expectations. They come across as honest and caring, but double check any quote they give you for work you need as you likely dont!

I called up on Friday because my car was overheating. I found out I had a radiator leak and they fixed it for me that same day and for a reasonable price. I truly find them to be the best mechanics in town and that I have gone to in my life. I will come here again for all of my car issues and recommend them to my family and friends. Great service Getting five new tires for my Colorado, everyone else in town had a week wait for any in my trucks size, roger and the guys in the shop got it done same day, professional and quality service. Will be having all my vehicles serviced here, good locally owned business in a industry getting competition from National big box stores - you get what you pay for. I’ve had tires changed at Wally World and the like - never been without issue. Can’t thank them enough they went above and beyond, shop local everyone, especially now.

Ive been a client here for about a year now, and I wouldnt even think about going anywhere else. I used to go to another nearby shop, but found the other shop was just okay, when it comes to value, customer facing, and timeliness. Then I found College Road Tire and Auto. I had a long commute with high mileage, so I come here for anything my vehicle needs that I cant, or dont have time to do on my own. Also, get their coupon for their full synthetic oil change, including fluid top offs, AND tire rotation for $50. F I F T Y. I cant even buy the oil and filter for that little! Its quality oil as well. Roger is personable, friendly, gives great conversation as does John. Theyre fair, timely, and understanding. 9 times out of 10 when you have an emergency, theyll get you worked in same day. When they cant, the schedule is really full, they stay pretty busy, which is another great sign. If theres ever an issue with a repair theyve done, all you have to do is speak with John or Roger and theyll find a solution. They genuinely care about not only their clients, but also their employees, and this is obvious through their actions. Look no further.

I received an flyer in the mail about various services they offered and being new to this market decided to give them a call after reading the various Google reviews.At the time I called all I really needed were tires and a wheel alignment. I talk to Roger on the phone and he quoted a price that was acceptable to me and I said Id get back. I called three weeks later and made an appointment for the following Monday 8-24-20 at 9 A.M. When I arrived they were ready for me and the place was what I thought busy.Everything was done to make me a satisfied customer from the get go including an extra service provided by the owner.If I had any complaint at all it would be that what I had done took longer than I thought it should have. Not an issue because of the extra care provided.Last but not least the quote Id received from Roger three weeks prior is the price paid on settlement.

The staff here has been amazing and very helpful every single time I have been here. They told me what was wrong with 2 different cars and gave me the truthful and honest answers. We have had great service and Roger and John are terrific. We had a Ford Taurus and had all the repair work by them. We got a oil change and was informed we needed a BG Rear Diff service I hesitated at first so I looked it up on google and they were right. The price range and quote was in the ball park area. We will continue having them service our car.

I would like to strongly recommend the residents of Wilmington, NC to utilize this establishment. Im relatively new to the area (Ony have been here for 8 months) and I was hesitant and not knowing how to go about choosing a consistent location to have my car serviced. Ive had about 3 separate visits with College Road & Tire and each visit was friendly, professional, timely, and most importantly ended up saving me money. Both Roger and Josh put emphasis on explaining to customers the problem, options, and their prices are almost always lower compared to their competitors. I plan on using them for my duration here in the city and you should too.

Over torqued and cross threaded my lug nuts when they put new tires on... Which caused me to be stranded and miss work when we couldnt get the tire off to replace it in an emergency. Ended up having to have it towed home and have the entire wheel stud drilled out and replaced. Pic shows just how seized the nut was! We destroyed it trying to get it off, wouldnt budge! Mind you, this should have been just a simple task to remove and replace a tire... But no, now Im more than $300 into it with lost wages and everything and my bosses are PISSED at me. I will never understand why mechanics dont hand tighten lug nuts, people dont have impact wrenches on the side of the highway when they get a flat tire! Common freakin sense, jeez.

I’ve got to say living in a new city you never realize all of the things that you need to have in case something happens. For me on Sunday that was a mechanic. I took to Yelp and Google and found a place right by my apartment with pretty decent reviews and figured having my car close was better than not having it at all so off with the tow company I went.The tow truck driver asked where we were going and I told him and he said these guys would treat me right and did they. Left my keys and a phone number and a voicemail and got a call first thing this morning. I explained that I was pretty sure of what the problem was and they were going to check it out but it would be a little while since Monday was busy. No problem. Not 2 hours later they called back with the info. Of course the diagnosis was what I thought and they gave me their recommendations. NOT ONCE did they try to sell me something unnecessary. One of the services after looking it up on my own wasn’t “required” and when I said I’d pass I could hear Roger’s genuine concern that not doing it wouldn’t be great for the car. He even went ahead and helped with the price because that was in honesty my concern.I was able to pick my car up before the end of the day and it runs perfectly! So glad to find a garage that I know I can trust.Thanks guys!

I have a 2004 saab i took in there a week ago that had been drove into deep water. they told me it could be fixed charged me 500 then called and told me it was fixed and up and running and good to go come pick it up today. i went to pick it up and it wasnt running....after they called me and said all that. 15 hours later i drove it only from home to work and on my way home from work it broke down i called they came out and told me it was something else now. they told me they did all these test on the car before now they wanted me to bring it back in. so i can pay more money

This is the worst place to go and get tiers and anything else you need for your vehicle! Dont go! Find somewhere else to go!!! They are so, expensive and ridiculous not honest people! We will NEVER be going there again!Bad place!

While on vacation in Wilmington, I came in need of a replacement tire for my vehicle. I called College Road Tire and Auto, and Mr. Hewlett and company were beyond helpful. Mr. Hewlett took into account my personal circumstance to find the tire that best suited my needs. I felt more as a guest in their own homes, rather than a customer with money in my pocket. The professional and caring attitudes at College Road Tire and Auto is impeccable, and I would recommend this establishment as an only stop for anyone in need of automotive work.

College Road Tire and Auto is the only place I take my car. Roger is always super nice and friendly. He goes the extra mile to help. When I needed new tires he printed out and reviewed several options with me, even telling me to wait for an upcoming sale on a certain brand. I recently had two nails in my back tiresz. I had take my car to a shop close to my house to have them put air in my tires. The guy there told me one of them wouldn’t be patchable and tried to get me to make an appointment for a new tire. When I took my car to College Road Tire and Auto they patched both of my tires (for only $35) and told me it wouldn’t be necessary to get a new tire. My overall point is these guys really care about their customers, they aren’t looking to find extra ways to make extra money off you. I really appreciate that they give you all of your options and not just the one that benefits them the most. I will always recommend my friends to College Road Tire and Auto!!

I do not recommend College Road Tire & Auto. I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. One hour later, they came to me with multiple issues. They stated that my front brakes were “metal on metal,” I needed a brake fluid flush, my serpentine belt was cracked, and my cabin air filter needed to be replaced. The cost of this service jumped from a $26 oil change to over $500. I could not afford the complete service they suggested so I paid for my oil change (w/ tire rotation) and told them to go ahead and replace the filter. What a mark-up on the air filter! Phew! Anyway, I’m not sure if they expected me to just believe them and throw my money at them, but I went home to check on the status of my brakes. Despite being a young adult female, I began the brake job only to discover that I have beautiful rotors and my brake pads have 6 months of life left in them! I was shocked that the service center lied to me like that. I’m sure you can imagine what comes next. My serpentine belt was in good condition and did not need to be replaced. Furthermore, the reason they stated my cabin air filter needed to be replaced was because there was a bird’s nest on it. They even brought out a nest to show me when I was at the shop. I guess they think I’m stupid. The location of this filter on my vehicle is so stowed away that it is impossible for a bird to access. Finally, I commented on their Facebook page and they deleted my comment and blocked me. I guess they only allow positive reviews! I am extremely disappointed in this business and will never be returning.

Would give 0 stars if I could! Went in for a simple transmission leak, and was told that the part would be around $60. Upon completion the owner told us that the price total was $600+. When asked about the total he revealed that he fixed other things in the car that he said nothing was wrong with when initially checking the car. We did not authorize him to fix any other parts on the car. When I told him I wasnt going to pay the EXTRA $600 he told me that he would take the new car part out and throw the original car part in the trunk and have the car towed off the property and he would have nothing to do with us anymore. He then said YOU PEOPLE always want free stuff. (Yes we are black). Once I threatned to call the cops, he said he would release the car and I could take it. When we arrived to pick up the car, he refused to give me the keys and told me to sign a paper explaining that they were not responsible. Currently my car is leaking worse than when I took it in and making a super loud sound (the car was quiet when I drove it to the property). I will be calling the police because they have damaged my car.

My first time visit with a tire problem and now I’ll not be going anywhere else. Gals you can trust John and Roger cause they’ve been in business 31 years and talk straight and even take you back and show you. In fact it was all women in the waiting room. Which by the way is sparkly clean! And they are a complete car care service business!

I stopped in to have a nail removed from my tire and plugged. I had been turned away or asked to wait over an hour at three other places. We were repaired, paid and out in 20 minutes, which was awesome bc I had a million things to do. Excellent attitude, customer service, and price. We will be back.

These guys are really good people. I didnt have an auto shop in town and found these guys based on their google reviews and location. Their prices were fair, their job was thorough, and they took the time to patiently explain to me exactly what was wrong with my car (and how I can prevent it next time...), what needed to be fixed immediately to make my car functional, and what wasnt urgent but was on the horizon. At NO point did I feel like they were pushy. Everyone I met here was polite and helpful, communication was great throughout the process, and the work was done quickly. My husband came with me to pick my car up and asked a few questions I didnt think to ask--he was impressed with all of the answers he got. Im usually on edge about going into car shops alone as a woman without much knowledge of cars, so I was especially pleased that I didnt feel like they treated him any differently than they treated me! We will definitely be back!

Sent my daughter there with 4 new tires we purchased online for less than $200 for a Ford Explorer and just wanted them to place the new tires on with no alignment and no balancing. They wanted $90 for a service that cost $40 at other tire places. When she asked if they take local student discounts or AAA they said no. Unfortunately they had the car in the air when I got the quote; same on me. This place has way to high of prices. I recommend Blacks Tire.

I went in for an oil change and they couldn’t get my skid plate back on correctly so they left it hanging down. I began to hear it scratching when I was driving. My boyfriend took it back to have them put it on and when they tried to put it back they cracked it and broke it. Now I have no skid plate. I will not be returning.
