I was headed to Surf City for a week at the beach vacation. I wanted to ride my bike at the beach, but the new tires I ordered for my bike didn’t come in until the night before I left for the beach and I didn’t have time to swap them prior to my trip. I called City Bicycle Company and asked if I could drop my bike off on my way to the beach on Saturday and they let me drop it off. They told me it might be Tuesday or Wednesday before someone could get to my bike. I didn’t mind since I was dropping this on them at the last minute. To my surprise, someone from the shop called me first thing Monday morning and told me my bike was ready. Not only did they get my tires swapped very quickly, they set them up tubeless, which I wasn’t expecting, but was very glad they did. The price I paid for their level of service was phenomenal. I couldn’t be more pleased.

I’ve purchased 2 bikes from this shop and have consistently been treated with respect, and had all my questions answered. The shop owner, Warren is friendly and goes out of his way to provide outstanding customer service. I plan on continuing to have my bikes serviced at City Cycle, and highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new set of wheels!

New to Wilmington, I needed a flat tire and safety review of my full suspension Polygon Siskiu mountain bike. I was so glad Katie (sp) answered the phone and agreed to fix and check my bike for me.To the rescue! I got a call from her saying the bike was ready to go and the price was incredible, thanks to my new hero Warren!!!He not only fixed the flat but he adjusted my brakes, cleaned it after a long day in the Brunswick Nature Park Mountain Bike Trail and tightened bolts I tried to tighten myself to help me lift/jump the bike over fallen trees!Thanks to Warren, it actually rides better than when I received it from the factory!!! Ill continue to seek out his help when he moves to the new place in Wrightsville Beach in a few weeks!!!

Purchased my dream bike over a year ago and have been thrilled with it and their service ever since. Warren at the Kerr Ave store is a great resource about bikes and does great work. Recently blew out my rear derailleur on the mountains of Browns Creek and had all kinds of problems finding parts. Warren pointed me in the right direction and after one false start (wrong part.. my fault) he took care of the installation and talked me off the edge as I (patiently waited) for the correct part to come in. Happy to recommend City Bicycle and especially Warren.

Im not even one to write reviews but I can’t recommend this place AT ALL l. Brought my bike in for a hanger and derailer repair and was told it’d be a quick fix. My bike sat in their shop for over a month, and the entire time no one once even tried to reach out to let me know any sort of updates. I had to personally call and text them to get any sort of update, and was told they were “looking up parts.” Finally had to call for the 4th time again was told they aren’t able to “find them anywhere.” To look up PARTS! Immediately took my bike across the street to 2 Wheeler Dealer and already set up to have it repaired in literally a week. Not to mention the guy that owns the shop wasn’t even wearing a damn mask. 0/10 experience, regardless of what this guy even tries to explain in a reply here.

I am a newbie to the cycling world, so forgive the non technical terms. I secret shopped the 3 bike shops in town, and City Bicycle Company was the only place that greeted me at the door, answered every question, and let me ride a few great bikes. Although I didnt purchase my bike from them, (due to buying from a friend) City Bicycle Co helped me with a great set of tires where the installed rate was nearly the online purchase. Soon I am going to have my bike fitted to my riding style, and they have offered a lot of great advice.

Matt, the owner, was extremely helpful and not pushy. Very easy to talk with and knows the brands he carries well. Everyone that works here is very helpful and helped out with my bike purchase.

The guy I talked to was friendly and all, but I took a bent 29er wheel here, guy told me that itll be ready the next day after 10am. Went back the next day and he told me the wheel was beyond repair and my only option was a used $150+ wheel.Went to Two Wheeler Dealer for a second opinion, and they fixed it in in 10 min for $15. He explained how the wheel was ok for easy commuting rides, but it probably couldnt handle any trail, but they also had a brand new replacement wheel for $99 in stock. Moral of the story, skip this place and go to Two Wheeler Dealer for repairs, is right around the corner.

This is more than a bike shop, it’s a family you want to be a part of, Matt, Warren and Mary are my mechanics and have sold me bikes for my entire family. They encourage and elevate your health and make it fun. When you walk into their shop you are a kid again. You must visit them and get on a bike you will not be disappointed. Check out the new Feather Weight Fat Tire bike custom built it is the lightest fat tire bike on the planet ...literally. The only bike shop you will ever need, love this place and the people who own it.

City Bicycle is a great place to rent bikes! My daughter and I recently stopped by to rent beach cruisers. Matt was super friendly; he set us up with just the right bikes for both of us, adjusting the seats to make sure we were good to go. We had a great time riding, and the bikes were in mint condition. I can not recommend them! I wanted to support both bike shops during this pandemic. 700 dollars later, I have an adult tricycle that squeaks loudly, is unstable, constantly goes clickety clack, has a poor quality seat that feels flimsy and no basket. Poor customer service. Matt, the owner, is a bad listener and unfortunately, a poor memory. He is more interested in vacation than taking care of his customer. I chose poorly. I’m trading at Two Wheeler Dealer from now on.

I got there thinking of getting a bike,ended up getting one. That how good they are. Met Warren, what a dude. Loved his ride,it was pretty sweet. I could tell he was not just selling bikes,he loves bikes. Had the pleasure of meeting the owners too. Very passionate,humble and good at what they do. My wifes cruiser bike developed a pretty bad wobble in the rear wheel. I called a couple of local bike shops and was told it would be a few days before I could get a repair made. Well I wanted the repair done sooner so I decided to try one more bike shop and I landed on City Bicycle in Wilmington, NC. I spoke to Matt and he advised me to bring my bike over and he would try to repair it in a few hours. Well to make a long story short, Matt repaired my bike in a couple of hours. I was so appreciative of the quick repair and courteous service. Im sold on this shop and will be using them for all my bicycle needs. Highly recommended!

Matt, Mary and Warren really know bikes and how to get you into the right one. I bought a custom fat bike and couldn’t be happier. It is lightweight, fast and beyond fun. It flies on the sand, road and trails and is unbelievably comfortable.The service at this shop is terrific too.I am planning to go back next week to see them to get my fixie bike upgraded.

Warren was very knowledgeable, helpful, and generous. I needed my break pads fixed on my bike. I dropped it off on a Saturday and would not be able to pick it up until Tuesday because they are closed Sunday and Monday. He first offered to meet me somewhere after hours so that I would have it on Saturday, but I passed. When I arrived on Tuesday he remembered me, he brought my bike out washed with the repairs completed, and with a smile. He didnt charge me because he felt like I was inconvenienced (even though I wasnt). Such kindness. Excellent customer service! I will send anyone asking to City Bicycle for their cycling needs!!

My young daughter’s bike was making a racket coming from the hub of the rear wheel every time she pedaled it (not purchased from there). I called City Bicycle and they said to bring the wheel up real quick to look at it. They took the hub apart and figured out a part of the clutch/brake assembly was installed backwards! I wouldn’t have figured that out on my own. They had me in and out in ten minutes. No charge. Very nice and knowledgeable people they are. My next bike will come from them for sure. Thank you!

Very impressed by the service we received. I recently took my bike in for a tune up as it had been 3 years since I rode it and it had been stored in a shed in the SOBX. It was rather rusty, but its a Trek, so i knew it was worth fixing up. Turned out it needed a bit more work than expected but i told them to go ahead. When I went to pick it up, I was pleasantly surprised at what they charged me. I now have a like new bike that rides amazing!We will be back. And we are telling our friends. Thank you City Bicycle!

They were awesome! Came in to get one bearing worked on and get a brake strap, and they went above and beyond. When I got my bike back, they had pretty much completely fixed it up and got it working better than it ever has. To top it all, it was very reasonably priced and they were very friendly and helpful.I will definitely be coming back here if I need anything done, and I would recommend them to anyone !

I have been planning to get a Fat tire bike for the beach and for the trails around here for almost 4 years. I was waiting for the right time and bike. My husband and I went in to City Bicycle several times. Matt has a selection of bikes we hadnt seen before. He was great at letting me ride several and gave us lots of information. He was very patient as I worked through my process over several months of deciding what would work for me. He said, My goal is to help you find the perfect bike for you the last time I was in. Well he did it! I finally decided on a bike he had there in stock, that I realized was the best one after looking at several others on line and in stores. I really appreciate his patience and his knowledge about bikes and up front attitude.

Warren is fantastic - runs the Wilmington store. Knows bikes as good as anyone and super responsive. Bought a Kona mnt bike from him, and he made it easy. Lifetime warranty, etc. so really hassle free.

Went in to fix a flat tire and found the shop to be much more organized and decorated nicer than any other bike shop Ive visited. Met Matt and Mary and what nice folks they are. I had a couple of bikes That needed some very minor adjustments. Matt took them in and made the necessary adjustments in less than 20 Minutes. He offered not to charge me anything but I insisted on paying him and finally convinced him to take $20.00. I seldom use bike shops as I am pretty handy with things like that. However, I will be taking my bikes back to City Bicycle company and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs bicycle repair.

Amazing experience. Went in to get my brakes fixed on my hybrid bike, Matt said it just needed an adjustment, which he did in 5 minutes along with oiling my chain and fixing a front fork wobble. Only thing he asked for in return was a smile and a handshake. I will be returning for all my future bike needs.

The guy (owner) Matt is not professional I tried to help him out, he is very rude and shady he doesnt pay well and expects to get something from nothing fair is fair wrong is wrong I believe I did a great job and was treated like trash. Customer or worker treat people fairly.

I went in one day to see if they have Surly bags because they are listed as a dealer, and I want to support local shops. They dont carry any stock, but they can get them. I had them order one even though I could have it delivered to my door for the same price. I went back in after they called me, and they charged me 125% of the retail price. I wont be back.
