The smell of this place will call you in from the street.. you cant resist but come in for some amazing amazing sweet ice cream. They incorporate their chocolates into the ice cream!!! What?!? Yeah. Grab a fresh made waffle cone with a scoop and walk down to the river front. You havent really experienced Wilmington until youve tried it.
This is absolutely my favorite dessert place in Wilmington! I love bringing friends when they come to visit so they can experience Kilwins. Everything smells and looks delicious, with a wide variety to choose from. I love getting a big waffle cone and walking along the Riverwalk.
You can smell Kilwins on the whole block. This a must for me every time I visit Wilmington. The homemade waffle comes are divine and the fudge is delicious. Key lime and pistachio are the absolute best! A NC staple for sure!
Brought my kids here while running an errand downtown and had the best ice cream ever! The chocolate toasted coconut is AMAZING! The sea salt caramel chocolates were also delicious! Worth the drive across town to enjoy this treat!
While you are walking down by the water you can smell all the delicious sweets they have from this shop. We had to wait in a small line to get the ice cream but it is definitely worth it the ice cream was amazing and the waffle cone bowl just made the experience so much better. I can not wait to take another trip back there and get more ice cream and try out the Carmel apples
The value of flavors not to be missed. The fresh chocolate, the caramel apples, and the fresh made ice cream with delectable flavors and treats. Happiness for your mouth and palate
Really nice fudge, always tasty! Most-often, un-friendly staff. We buy about $10 to $15 worth, once a summer. Over the years, invariably, my wife or I will say the words its as if that kid feels like they were doing us a favor by taking our money and putting a few pieces of fudge in a box... Wondering what the issue is... NEVER any warmth from the staff.
Weve visited here many times, but usually avoid it in summer due to the crowds. Friends came to visit from Ohio so, of course, we took them to the Riverwalk and soon everyone was wanting ice cream.Kilwins was nearby, so we went ahead and gave them a try.As always, the entire shop smelled delicious. There was a line of about 8 people waiting. The staff has a system, so it was our turn before we were ready to order. The list of flavors posted on the wall came in handy.I had the cappuccino chocolate chip in a waffle cone. It was quite tasty.
Always a delightful visit! So happy to see the doors open and the shelves and cases stocked. They have the most friendly staff and delicious, homemade treats. Fudge, caramel apples, ice cream, chocolates...and much more. We locals appreciate you all so much!
If youre ever walking through historic downtown Wilmington, a stop at this store may be in order. The location is great! (But parking is definitely not; be prepared to walk.) Its next to downtowns riverwalk and the Cape Fear River. The architecture and decor are nice. Inside they have a wide array of homemade chocolate candy, ice cream, and fudge. You can actually see their staff making the waffle cones and fudge through the front windows. The ice cream is very good and they arent stingy about giving out samples if youre having a hard time deciding what flavor(s) you want.I deducted a star for their astronomical prices. You can expect to see prices $30 and above per pound for some of the chocolate candies! I don’t know if that’s the going rate for that type of candy, but it sure seems ridiculous.
First time I’ve ever been here and I will definitely be back. They actually lost my order so I had to “reorder”. They fixed it right away and threw in some extra chocolate goodies. The ice cream has amazing flavor. You can definitely tell it’s a gourmet place. The line moves pretty quickly…they have a good system. What was going to be a negative experience for me turned out to be one of my favorite visits in Wilmington. Can’t wait to come back.
Very busy, but line moved pretty fast. The employee was kind, but left out a few pricey items. Kind of hectic. Good to check order before leaving.
Delicious! The ice cream and waffle cone are so good! I love that there are a wide variety of sweets to choose from. They have fudge, chocolate candies and ice cream available. The line was long on the 4th of July but the employees help get you through quickly. It was definitely with the wait!
Ice cream is delicious! We visited several locations and the flavor never disappoints. We didnt have any chocolate this time but we know its very good.
Always a reliable stop for delicious ice cream, but I was surprised this evening by the extra courteous service provided by a young gentleman named Aaron. Thank you for going the extra mile to provide true southern service, Aaron!
Ice cream is amazing. Home-made waffle cones and bowls. Fudge in many flavors. Many many types of home-made chocolate treats. Staff is very friendly and helpfull in deciding what to get! Look forward to next visit!
Kilwins is the closest thing we have to a Charlies Chocolate Factory and three Fudge is absolutley DELICIOUS!! There are so many different choices that honestly its almost impossible to decide. I mean you are literally surrounded by chocolate goodness when you walk in. The smell of homemade waffle cones overwhelms the room and their ice cream is absolutely scrumptious! There only reason I couldnt give 5 stars is because the price is a little high but its nice to splurge every once in awhile.
We take all of our friends and family here when they come from out of town. The most incredible ice cream and fresh cones around! They also sell fudge, candied apples and much more. A great place to stop when you come downtown Wilmington.
Great selection and incredible chocolate. I went two days while on vacation!
Just YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY. The perfect amount of sweetness for an afternoon by the river.Great service, great cream & good location.
Great selection of ice cream and chocolate. My kids walk in and they just laugh with excitement at the options! Always a favorite and the staff are constantly friendly.
The best ice cream and fudge Ive ever eaten. Very nice staff. I love the vintage vibes. I come here every single time I go to the beach. It is so worth the drive. I will eat their products year round.
Although a bit pricey, the ice cream and other tests were absolutely AMAZING. Im glad that I dont love in Wilmington, otherwise Id be going everyday
So many choices hard to choose. But, my all time favorite is a single scoop of salted caramel, with chocolate on the bottom in a homemade cone!! Its a must in a cone!! Yummy!!! You can also choose so many different kinds of fudge made in house, and candy. Ive bought caramel apples there a couple times!! Soo good!!
Ice cream is ice cream, not much different. Ingredients might make a bit different. Good size crowd waiting to order and pick up their ice cream. Not sure why most ice creams place won’t let people in to order while other eateries are back to semi-normal. Price and service is average. Kinda feel bad for their known chocolate, it’s hard to order chocolate thru the window.
My family and I are exempt from New Hanover Countys mask mandate. Did not accommodate at all. So we went to a banging gelato spot called Gelarto. Go to Gelarto instead the people are nicer.
I was told to come here for the best chocolate ice cream ever and that is definitely what I got! Such a cute place, I wish I could have eaten everything they had to offer because it all looked amazing. Definitely had an old school feel, you could watch them make the chocolates in the front which was neat. If I lived closer it would be bad news for my waistline!
I think Kilwins is an expensive but a really good historic ice cream shop. The superman flavor is my favorite. In terms of fanciness its like Yosake restaurant. I wonder if I could eat superman ice cream with a California Roll and fried tempura shrimp.
Amazing ice cream, in love with this place would highly recommend!!!
As a local I swear by this place. Worth a visit no matter the time of year or day. Breath taking historical location with diet threatening sweets as far as the eye can see.
I thought the ice cream was good. It wasnt life-changing or anything. Ive seen huge lines at this place but there was not one today so I gave it a try.
I love getting fudge here and walking along the river! This is a wonderful area to walk around with your ice cream too.
The best sweet treats in town. LOVE their waffle cones and their Carmel apples!! Line was long as it was memorial day weekend, but they moved so fast and the wait was not long at all!
The service in this place is amazing, also the flavor of the ice cream, I had the best experience today.
Great ice cream and fudge. Pleasant staff even when theyre extremely busy.
Some of the best ice cream Ive had. all the sweets look wonderful.
Cant walk by the door, the smell will pull you in. Everything is delicious.
Kilwins is one of the best places in the entire world to grab a treat! The place constantly smells like fresh waffle cones and fudge which they make right in front of you. The house made ice cream has no parallel and there are a myriad of flavors. They have an assorent of chocolates, taffy, popcorn, carmel apples, and plenty of other sweets. Theres nothing in this world like grabbing a Kilwins cone and walking the banks of the Cape Fear river.
I was not impressed with the overpriced chocolates or the flavors of the ice cream
Heaven on earth. It makes the entire street smell amazing and the apple pie ice cream is my absolute favorite!
Love this place! Stop every time we come to NC!
I’d eat at this place even in a blizzard! This has got to be one of the best sweet/treat/ice cream shops in America. THEY MAKE THEIR OWN WAFFLE CONES!!! You ain’t gettin that service at Baskin Robins... which, are they still open? If they are, leave there and go to Kilwins, you won’t be disappointed.
We knew it was going to be good when we saw the line out the door. I got the waffle bowl with butter pecan and my husband got turtle cheesecake with waffle cone. The ice cream was wonderful and it didn’t melt quick. I got candy apples too and know they will be good as well. Nice place located in downtown.
Fun & yummy ice cream, & chocolates ! Homemade waffle cones made there !! A must visit if you are in town !
4 adults toddler and babyIt was another warm evening 5/3/2021Served by RemaThe ice cream was delicious and service was greatThank you
This is my favorite ice cream place in North Carolina. And I eat an absurd amount of ice cream so that is incredibly high praise! My go-to is the toasted coconut, which is the most coconutty ice cream I have ever tasted. The ice cream is rich, smooth and creamy. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. And the location is excellent, right downtown, on the water with a gorgeous view and lots of benches to enjoy a nice cold treat to beat the humidity of NC in the summer!
Long line but worth the wait
The ice cream was so AMAZING 😁. Servers are courteous and patient.Ill be back!
Wasn’t happy with the sheer amount of customers not following the indoor mask mandate, company seems to not care very much about safety clearly.
OMG, this plane is AWESOME! Yes, there is always a line, and for good reason. Its fantastic! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself and your family ❤️
Yum!! Every time Im in Wilmington, I have to stop here. Its tradition!
Great food and great service!
Delicious as always. Good system considering their store setup and COVID practices.
Never had a bad experience at any Kilwins.
Ridiculous line outside for over priced products, we ended up leaving before we even got served
Their waffle cones are amazing!!! Everytime Im in Wilmington visiting I always make sure to stop here!!!
Soooo many flavors! 😊
Be careful if you have a sweet-tooth this store can be dangerous with all the great options. The smell of the handmade waffle cones will pull you in from half a block away. I recommend a scoop of ice cream and getting one of their handmade candies on top. Be prepared for a long wait during tourist season.
Have been visiting this location for over 3 years and have never been so disappointed. The employees were extremely uninterested in helping, just wanted us to buy prepackaged boxes of chocolate. Had to literally look around the store and find the chocolate in the display (20 foot away) before they would even acknowledge that they had any other chocolate than what was on the table at the front. Very sad showing, the owners need to step in and do something about the customer service and willingness of employees to help pick out and purchase products. We will be back for the chocolate but not the service. Visited 12/09/20 around 5pm.
Very yummy confections of all sorts here. Stopped by multiple times during my stay at Wilmington.
Delicious ice cream and go with your family
Great ice cream.
Great variety of desserts!
Awesome ice cream. May have to wait in line to get in, but totally worth it. Would recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth. Has gluten free options as well.
The ice cream is so delicious and the portions are so huge!!!! We loved it here!
Place never disappoints!
My favorite spot to eat ice cream when I visit Wilmington!
Covid safe with outdoor order and pickup. No reason to miss a lovely treat. Thank you for your safety measures.
Kilwins is our favorite vacation spot to get a sweet treat. Everything there is so good. From the many ice cream choices in homemade waffle bowls to the decedent fudge to the caramel apples covered in peanuts. You’ll always find the perfect treat to satisfy your sweet tooth at Kilwins.
We had icecream after dinner. All of it was made in house and was amazing. They have a large selection of flavors. We went with our go-to flavors, but were not disappointed in our selection. Kilwins makes premium products and delicious treats. Cant go wrong.
Took them 15 minutes to make one chocolate malt that didnt taste very good. No one inside appeared interested in being at work and it showed. Better off finding a nice local place.
A must-try for tourists and locals!
The best ice cream cone in my life! The waffle cone was great and the peach ice cream was amazing with huge pieces of peaches in it and not overly sweet. Just perfect!
Best ice cream experience in downtown Wilmington!
Always a sweet experience!
