Visiting from Charlotte and found Flying Machine on Google Maps. Great experience! Loved the big outdoor area, especially to those not wanting to sit inside with lots of people. We ate at a food truck that was visiting and ate and drank at our outside table with our dog. Even though it was pretty busy, lines moved fast. Some of the beers I wanted to try were out, but we should be used to that by now. Only issue was parking (we parked across the street and walked across the four lane road); it can be pretty limited on popular nights. Would definitely come back!

Great, spacious brewery with outdoor seating and roof deck. They make some really interesting beers. Big screen/projectors for viewing the game. No kitchen, they sometimes bring in food trucks.

One of my personal favorite breweries in Wilmington, this gem is perfectly situated near the center of town. Nestled next to the Cross City Trail, its a great place to go on a run or bike ride and meet up with friends for a beer afterwards. Whether you like IPAs, amber ales, sours or stouts, they have flavorful brews for any taste.

This brewery is absolutely awesome! The vibes here are great, they have wonderful indoor/outdoor seating. They have a wonderful selection of beers! The service is always quick and the bartenders are super friendly and always willing to suggest beers to try for those who are super indecisive like I am. I would definitely recommend coming here for you next outing!

Flying Machine has quickly become my favorite brewery in North Carolina. Part of it is the location (not far from home) but it’s also the staff, who all display a great knowledge of the current beer line up and of beer styles in a broader sense, and who are always friendly and welcoming. Part of it is the beer, which sticks to tradition (in terms of style, flavor, and ingredients) while making headway into new beer territory by pushing the limits of tradition and expectation. (That said, you want a lager? They got a great one. Looking for something more experimental? Try a sour beer in slushee form. ). But part of it is the space. It’s roomy, it’s modern, it’s comfortable. As I said, it’s my favorite, my go to, and I can’t wait to go back again.

This place has it right. Smart outdoor seating options with tent and canopy to keep you out of the sun - rain and more importantly packed contained areas during our current pandemic. Very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable barkeep that go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable. Clean and welcoming great brews all the way around but the Electronic Fog hazy ipa was superb as well as the little Ocean Energy triple dry hopped ale. Our favorite though has to be the Weighted Blanket nitro pub ale. Unique and absolutely delicious. Stop by and kick back with friends and family to support a local craft brewery doing great things. Great beer! I came here alone as I’m traveling and felt comfortable. The dreamy eyes is SO good. I’m from beer city (Asheville, NC) and was very impressed by this establishment. :) also love the outdoor / indoor seating arrangement.

The venue here is simply stunning. Feels much more like an aviation museum. And the beers are just as good. Among the plethora of hazy and juicy remedies, these Wilmington brewers manage to win the witbier battle. Without a doubt one of my favorites in the NC Port City.

Cool music, friendly staff, and delicious beer. I went with my wife and two midsized dogs on a Monday evening. Scanned the qr codes for menus once seated And was promptly assisted. My wife (who suffers from gluten issues) got their 1 gluten free cider which tasted to my palate like strongbow cider. I got the 6oz of cloud ipa which was delicious. I think Ill take a wanderer next please.. thank you flying machine for the outdoor seating and dog friendly policy. 5 gold stars.

This place is huge! We’ve been to several local breweries in Wilmington and Flying Machine is like none I’ve visited before. While they do have a large area for brewing, they really did a great job designing a large enough space for people to enjoy their beer. The large space combined with the large ceiling gives the inside an nice open feeling. There is also a great outdoor area with a 2nd story deck. Didn’t get to enjoy that area since it is heading into winter, but look forward to enjoying it in the spring and summer. We had a variety of beers at our table and everyone enjoyed them. They usually have a food truck on busy nights so you can grab a bite to eat along with your beer.

I absolutely love visiting Flying Machine. They have a wonderful facility and the best beer! There’s always something new and tasty to try! Most of all, their staff are amazing! Every time I go, everyone is so friendly and welcoming as well as being super accommodating and knowledgeable of the menu and beer. They always have the perfect recommendation for what I have a taste for! On top of the great service and beer, they have a great rotation of food trucks to serve all their customers who enjoy a good snack while enjoying their favorite beer! They are also doing everything they can to keep everyone safe during this crazy time in our world and they do it with a smile on their face!

Flying Machine is fantastic.This is not just a beer lovers paradise, but a thoughtful and comfortable environment, both before and after the start of the pandemic. While focusing on serving making excellent beer, the atmosphere is fun, lively, clean and safe. You can walk in with your friends or family and have an equally great time. So many of the beers are complex and interesting - unique and unlike things you can find elsewhere - but you can also get a regular drink and feel at home. They also have great Gluten Free options if that is what you need for any members of your group, and the food trucks are excellent. The staff is awesome, and has navigated the pandemic issues politely and carefully. Cant say enough about how cool the place is, and the whole team seems to roll with the punches however they come, including in these COVID times.Bottom line - Flying Machine is not just here to stay, but a great destination for almost any time, whether you want a quiet beer alone or to meet up in a great environment with your friends.

Y’all are running a great place! Even with the pandemic we’ve really enjoyed bringing the kids and hanging out under the new outdoor accommodations. I hope that stays even after this. Seems like there is always a food truck & the variety is great. The safety procedures are top knotch. Y’all have thought of everything. We love the creative brews & my newest favorite was the slushy! Anxiously awaiting for its release again.

This is one of the best (if not the best) Brewery in Wilmington. The staff is always cheerful and knowledgeable about their beers. Their COVID policies are spot on. They are diligent and polite about making sure all of their guest are Following the rules. I always bring my guest from out of town here first and they are never disappointed.

Excellent brewery with cool taproom, beer garden and selection. Both the schwarzbier and IPA were top notch.

I have loved going to Flying Machine since they opened for their broad beer selection and love of exploring lesser known styles. But their dedication to keeping their guests and staff safe while enjoying good beer during the last 9 months has made me love them even MORE. Its one of the very few places in town I feel safe going, which is perfect since they make my favorite beers and they get the best food trucks. And the staff and owners are the nicest ever. In summary: I FRIKKEN LOVE FLYING MACHINE.

First thought, Wright Brothers and the famous 1903 flight at Kitty Hawk. A very historical moment for N.C.. Now Wilmington N.C. has its very own Flying Machine! (Brewery). I had the chance to try my first Flight last night. From the outside to the inside it was very clean. I do credit that to its recent opening and the staff constantly wiping things down. From the moment I arrived to my departure the bartenders were phenomenal. I was greeted and served within minutes of arrival. I am curious to see how they perform on a (Elbow to Elbow) crowd night. In a town known for its service industry & booming with new Breweries the Flying Machine stands out. The inside is very spacious and the bit of steampunk decor all the way down to your Flights arrival on a Cog wheel is alluring. You can not miss the Espresso machine. Thats right, they serve coffee as well. If you are hungry dont fret. Food trucks pop up on location at different times to serve those in need. I was privy to information about The CheeseSmith truck arriving there last night and it DID NOT disappoint. The only real problem here will be parking (UBER if you can) & No cool call signs like Maverick, Goose, Hollywood, Iceman. In all Flying Machine is a great venue for large parties or to indulge solo. 5 out of 5 Beers Cheers Mates

Great beer, really fun selection. Taking Covid really seriously with only outdoor seating, and little things like propping bathrooms open, and requiring masks to move around. Also have single stall bathroom in addition to the gendered ones. Friendly staff! It’s right off a bike trail so it looked like quite a few folks could easily bike.

This place is a regular for me & is on the Must-Visit when we have family in town. The variety of creative craft beers & atmosphere keeps everyone happy. The staff is patient with those new to the craft world and knowledgeable on even their newest drinks.

Flying machine brewery is one of the best. Their beers are amazing. They are following the Covid 19 rules to a tee. There isn’t a better brewery to visit. I highly recommend them when you’re in the area!!

Great vibes and atmosphere.

Drove up from Charleston, SC to have a few beers here (my wife loves Sours), but got turned away, because we had 2 minors (it was around 1pm). Apparently on Friday and Saturday, they don’t allow anyone under 21. I totally understand folks not wanting kids running around and such, I work at a brewery and I get it. When we were there, there were maybe 5 other couples there, so not crowded by any means. After we sat in the car trying to figure out where to go, we noticed they turned away another older couple with an older (but not 21) daughter. Might want to rethink that rule, as they missed out on at least 4 paying customers. Maybe move the 21 and older time to after 5? Didn’t see any mention of the age requirement in any reviews or on their site. Guess I found out for future folks wanting to check it out.

Absolutely incredible staff and even more phenomenal, creative beers. Theyve taken serious precautions during COVID so enjoying a few beers outside feels completely safe with little additions like scanned QR menus and frequent sanitization that make a big difference. Cant recommend this place enough and cant wait to go back. Stop by and support a local spot with a huge selection (including GF options!). A bonus is being able to enjoy the local food trucks they host on a regular basis with the schedule posted on instagram.

Very disappointed with the very rude and slow service we received tonight as the waitress took over 10 min to initially talk to our group and immediately had an attitude. She threatened to kick us out after trying lift her spirit by joking around with her. Will not be returning and informing all our friends of this terrible experience. I don’t know if it’s COVID or what but it’s not an excuse for terrible service.

Beer was solid.... Rona restrictions in this area are unreal. Like nowhere else in the state. This was the only brewery open in even a partial capacity.

I love this place! They have amazing beer and a great atmosphere. Bartenders are always friendly and helpful. Along with the great beer that they have, they usually have fun events going on and yummy food trucks. I recommend Flying Machine Brewery to everyone!

Had such a blast at the brunch event yesterday! As a Wilmington native, it was by far one of the most upbeat and eclectic events I’ve experienced here in the ILM. As someone who has continuously worked in customer service, I really appreciated the positive attitude the bartenders had despite how busy it was. The line was almost out the door, but the bartenders were quick and efficient and managed to greet everyone with a smile. As per usual, FM had such a wide array of beers that there was definitely something for everyone. Can’t wait for the next event!

This place is without a doubt a game changer for the Wilmington brewery scene. An awesome group of guys making awesome beer. The team of employees there on opening weekend were all really helpful and attentive despite the huge crowds. Outdoor areas are awesome. Place is clean and inviting. Sure to be a huge hit. Not a huge fan of beer so I was surprised to find SEVERAL beers I enjoyed. Really cool space and staff is polite. You can even bring your dog ! If you’re hungry, there is usually a food truck outside and games inside if you bring a group.

Cant get over this steam-punk themed brewery. Awesome atmosphere, exquisite beer. Ive seen everything from students studying at 10 am (their espresso is out of this world), to families convening, to soccer fans posting up in front of one of their many large TVs. The food trucks never disappoint, either.Dog friendly!Family friendly!Bocce friendly!Truly a perfect addition to the community.

Popped in over the holidays with hubby and dog; which by the way you can, one Sunday. First visit there, very urban meets Beatles feel to it... folk look comfy and happy that they are there.Big selection of beers and specials; also had wine which was good because I’m not the beer drinker in the family ! Husband enjoyed the new brews.But definitely a fine looking facility with a attached brewery .A nice addition to the local area !All the staff there polite, happy and chilled !

Flying Machine is an awesome brewery to hang out with friends and have some tasty brews. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly while the atmosphere is second to none. I even had the privaledge of meeting the 2 owners while I was there. They showed me around and gave my crew a personal tour. You can tell that these guys get it and it shows throughout the entire brewery and with every beer. Well done Flying Machine... well done.

This is an awesome addition to the craft breweries in Wilmington! Huge selection of beers PLUS they have coffee too! The staff was amazing and super friendly and the service was top notch even though it was really busy. I love going to the local breweries and trying new beers and this place definitely didn’t disappoint. They have something for everyone. Whether you are local or visiting, I recommend checking it out. The ambiance is also very cool! They obviously put a lot of work into it and it shows. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and also an outside balcony on the 2nd floor. Will definitely be coming back to try more of their delicious beers. If you like a good double stout, I would recommend Infinite Highway and the Albatross Double IPA was so dang good.

The 2 star rating is for service, excellent beer and atmosphere. Friday night was not that busy and we got a seat at the bar which was a score. It was hard to get a beer even with our empty glasses in front of us. It became a joke with the people sitting beside us since they had the same issues I understand service issues when you are swamped but not when the servers are standing around chatting. I love your beer but service like this will not keep me coming back.

19 or their own beers on tap! I obviously was not able to try them all but the ones that I did were above and beyond any expectations that I had. Plenty of smiling happy faces both behind the bar and the other patrons. I can’t wait to see this place grow. I’ll be back to try and work my way thorough the rest of their list very soon

This is an awesome place! Checked it out with some friends recently. The architecture is unique and the staff is very nice. Talked to a bar manager named MP for a while and she was super cool. Also, all of the beer is OUTSTANDING!!! I can’t wait until they start bottling and canning it. I’m a big ipa person but decided to try the infinite highway stout and it was one of the best beers I’ve ever had. Super smooth and very drinkable and 8.5%?!? Definitely check this spot out!

Beer and service was good. Has a nice open area for a lot of people. However, those people will have nowhere to park. On a slow day it was hard to find a spot, but you can take your chances running across a 4 lane road.

Great beers. Only had time for one flight, but they were all good beers. The craft beer breweries are getting too saturated, but this one is one of the good ones. I wish them nothing but the best.

I’m here almost every weekend. I love how the selection of beer offers something for everyone. They also have tea and coffee. The space is huge. There are a few screens for watching the games and there is a really neat outdoor bar section! Very dog friendly but staff does not enforce dogs on a leash. Came by the other day and someone’s dog was wandering around without supervision.

My wife and I have been in a few times now and always have a great time. Fantastic beers, which are consistent and in wide variety, good atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff. Its also nice that the brewery is literally on the crosstown bike path, right beside a scenic lake. Highly recommended.

We had an opportunity to taste the Polar Byrd Winter Warmer Ale. It was absolutely delicious. Fresh and tasty. The only bummer is that we cant get this beer regularly in Durango, CO. Keep up the good work Flying Machine. If you are in the Wilmington area make sure to stop by or grab a beer anytime you see one! It will be worth it. Cheers!!!!
