We LOVED our experience here today! We have been long time lovers of the donut inn but we came today knowing they’d be pretty busy- and they were! Despite it being rush hour (noon on a Sunday), the entire staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. One staff member, Phil, went above and beyond giving us the last maple donut he was bagging up for himself but instead allowed us to have it. That is true service in our eyes! They also went to great lengths to make it up to a customer whose order got taken by accidentally by someone else. The food was great but the service and kindness was exceptional.
Donuts and coffee were very good. We got a chocolate sprinkle, lemon filled and apple cider and were happy with all 3. The lemon donut was HUGE and lots of filling. Alot of options were sold out but that was expected since we came at end of day but they still had 3 of our favorites. Only complaint is the staff was not friendly at all. No greeting, thank you or have a nice day even when I was friendly. May have just been tired at end of day but expected a little more. Good stop for donuts.
Food is good. Front staff friendly. However, need to warn people you are the slowest donut/bagel shop in town. 45 minutes is standard for a cooked order to-go at this location. Back/kitchen staff YELLING at customers that the wait of 45 minutes being normal was the rude element that sent me here just to post a this review. Just be nice! Especially when you’re clearly not doing an efficient job in the kitchen.S&L, Round, The Pointe, etc deserve all of your business instead.
I ordered online with delivery as an option only to find out they don’t deliver. Food was great! Sausage egg and cheese biscuit and a sausage egg and cheese croissant. Both were tasty! The strawberry glazed yeast was decent but I did not enjoy the lemon, it was a bit dry. Overall, I liked the experience.
Their old fashion cake glazed sour cream is the best old fashioned donut, and it is huge. Two to three times larger than other places, and it is absolutely delicious. They also serve small sandwiches & coffee. They are definitely worth visiting if you are anywhere near by.
Incredible croissant breakfast sandwiches! Staff is amazing. Always get our big orders right and in a timely fashion too. 5 stars for sure.
Just stopped by here while at work and the staff was super friendly! Plenty of options for donuts, bagels, etc. and they were very quick. They genuinely made my day!
Very good breakfast sandwich! Veggie option. Double Egg and cheese with avo and spinach on an English muffin. 🔥🔥🔥
My wife has been eating Donut Inn donuts for 20 years, as it originated in Connecticut. She was so happy to see it relocate here and we love the vanilla fluff and glazed. Their sandwiches are great too. Clean, nice atmosphere, and the owners are great local businessmen. So give them your business and eat a tasty treat at the same time!
They make the best Boston creme donut of all time! Perfect ratios of everything. Excellent donuts ask round and somehow both less sugary than many others yet often more delicious.
Cant get a better donut in this town. Always fresh, pleasant help. Dont go too late on weekends, they can run short of popular varieties. Love the coffee, Ill take a double shot 🥃
The donuts are fresh and they offer a variety of choices. Great location and good customer service.
We had donuts and breakfast croissants. Donuts were good and fresh. Breakfast sandwich was good except for the egg shell I bit into. At least they are using real eggs.
New to the area so I go somewhere different to try new restaurants. Wanted an apple pastry so I decided to drop in and see what they had. Got an apple fritter that was huge. Warmed it up in the microwave there for 15 seconds; recommend going 20-25 seconds. The fritter was delicious with plenty of apple filling inside the dough. Try one out.
Nice coffee & donut shop. The donuts are in a class of there own. Great location coming or going from the beach. We will be stopping by again
Great Customer Service. Must go as early as you can to have more variation of donuts to pick from. What we can choose from at 11am Sat is still pretty good selection, including Donut of the day but some of the donut flavors were already sold out! They even marked the floor for 6ft of social distance currently in effect.
This is my second and last visit since they dropped the ball again! First time there they gave our food to another customer, had to wait another almost 15 minutes for them to make it again and they ended up making the wrong sandwich for me. Today my husband ordered an egg sandwich and I ordered a lunch sandwich on a wrap instead of bread. Well, that heated up my supposed to be cold lunch wrap. Heated up the lettuce and tomato too. Who heats up lettuce and tomatoes. I’ve tried calling there 5 times now and nobody is answering. Goes to a message, then says messages full. Oh, and it was $18 for these two items which is insane. Not wasting my money and time there ever again!
Great Donuts. They have bagels, too. Make sure to order online ahead of time if you want your order more quickly.
Always such a treat to stop by here! Food and service are awesome! Gets our day off to a great start!
Delicious, friendly, and fast. Fritters as big as your head. Nice patio seating. Friendly sparrow likes to eat dropped frosting
The donuts and bagels are great. Service has been so-so since COVID. Hopefully it will get better again.
The scent of fresh baked goods and coffee is always a plus. Had the croissant sandwich that was so scrumptious, the fresh baked croissant was perfectly buttery and flakey. My friend got the wrap and it was huge but looked equally delicious. Definitely recommend going!
Good donuts, great prices, rude staff
Just found out Matt Anlyan is one of the owners! We were good friends in college!Yo Matt, Ive raved about this spot for years! Yall do such a great job! Im the guy who played winning eleven w/e ward at the riot house all the time. I miss Lucy!
Love it! A great variety of donuts for breakfast!
Always good! Best blueberry donuts.
Super friendly and helpful staff, really make you feel at home. Food is great and I will have to come back soon!
First time visiting and everything was fantastic. Good service, sandwiches, and donuts. Plus, first time guests get a free donut!
Gave us two free donuts because it was our first time visiting. Really good cooked to order breakfast sandwiches
Popped in to see the donut selection and was greeted by the warmest smile and most hospitable personality ever. Mercer adds a special energy to the Donut Inn, and she made me feel more than welcome and happy on a cloudy Wednesday morning. Cannot wait to bring back friends to enjoy delicious donuts and breakfast specials.
Pretty good donuts, sandwiches are a bit lackluster but taste good.Get the blueberry donut you wont be disappointed.
Good donut. Me enjoy.
The Donut Inn makes some of the best donuts in the area. If you are grabbing your donuts in the morning there is a good chance your donuts will come out hot and fresh. The flavors are all over the place. From normal flavors you would expect to key-lime and a hot pepper flavor.Do yourself a flavor, stop in and try the Donut Inn.
Good food, good prices, and good service. Great place for lunch after a walk in Airlie Gardens.
Awesome donuts and customer service. You seem to need to get there early for all the fonts to be available.
The doughnuts were good.
The donuts were ok, the service was terrible!! We waited over 20 minutes for our drinks and we never got them! A sad ending to a fantastic trip to Wilmington. Won’t be back here in the future.
Takes forever to get food. Took an hour for a bagel.
Fresh food, great flavors, really really nice people working the counter.
This place does not get enough credit for having some of the best bagels in town! Their donuts are great, but weve tried 3-4 other bagel shops and Donut Inn has my fav bagels too! The owners are super nice and threw free samples in our bag our first few visits. If youre looking for donuts, I recommend the Sour Cream and Mini Apple Fritter (theres nothing mini about it FYI). I will say that Im not a huge fan of their lattes and if you want a Starbucks type coffee experience with your bagel or donut, then there is one across the street (thats what I do). I detract no points for this though, because theyre not claiming to be a coffee place.
I always get the apple fritter! Go for the large one if they have any left!
Always feel rushed when ordering because the menu is written in chalk and so small. Great tasting doughnuts. Dont understand why theyre closed right now though. I understand 1 person tested positive but why doesnt that 1 person shut down a business? Did this happen 3 years ago when someone was positive for Flu A or B? Probably not.
Great vibes, delicious food, special locally-owned touch, and the pinnacle of donut perfection! If youre looking for the best donuts in Wilmington, the state of NC, or quite possibly the entire US, look no further. I stopped by The Donut Inn with friends for lunch and we were all blown away by this place. Wide variety of fresh-delicious donuts, made to order hand crafted sandwiches & wraps, and incredible coffee & specialty coffee options that will beat out your favorite coffee shop. The owners are local, take every opportunity to make you feel at home, and have big hearts for giving back to the community. Whether you live in Wilmington or are visiting on vacation, The Donut Inn is the donut, breakfast, coffee, and lunch spot youre looking for that will satisfy the whole family.
I want to love donut inn but they are making it hard. Today placed order on line and then showed up. If you order a breakfast sandwich that says served on toast it comes on bread unless you edit it to something else. After trying every combination of light toast and dark toast to just get bread have stopped ordering sandwiches. Ordered a wrap today and clicked the no salsa button. Ticket on bag even said it but low and behold full of salsa. Last 3 times I have ordered been given a bag and either made it to car or once home before realizing didn’t get full order. Not sure if it is a process thing or employees who don’t understand but trying every other place I can right now. Not sure how to help other than make sure they understand how crazy it is to try and do business with them
YUM. These donuts are something else. They are massive; when you order a dozen, they give them to you in a pizza box.Theyre soooo tasty. I love filled donuts and these guys are not playing around when it comes to filled donuts. No tiny dollops here--these things are LOADED. Theyre borderline sandwiches. And speaking of sandwiches, they make those, too! The sandwiches are also crazy good, but theyre a little pricey and tend to take awhile if theyre really busy (aka every weekend morning). Theyre worth the splurge though if you have the time or if you can pop in at a slower hour! *Bonus: when you go in close to closing, you can get a dozen donuts for half price.
I normally go and customer service is terrific (hence the two stars). I do notice they don’t change gloves when touching money and food with no utensils. On Thursday, 11/12 I went and the cashier put in the order on her computer and took the money with her gloves on and then proceeded to place my donut in the container (no utensil used only the same gloves). I asked her if she could not use the same gloves to collect money and directly touch food, she ignored me and when I asked if she heard me her response was “yea that’s why it’s best for you to use your card.” When I asked she told me she was the manager, I think this is a horrible and disgusting response to use with a polite and paying customer. Basic sanitation shouldn’t be too much to ask for.
I did not have a good experience at the Donut Inn. I ordered ahead because I expected a wait on a Saturday morning. The online ordering system kept removing items from my order and I did not end up with the sandwiches I ordered. Then, when I arrived, I was told the oatmeal I ordered was unavailable. I was offered a gift card instead of a refund. Then, when I arrived home, I unwrapped an extremely crumbled and dry side order of bacon- like old bacon bits. I will note the donuts I ordered were good, but not good enough to make up for the rest of the unpleasant experience. I dont plan on returning.
It was my familys first time in and the gentleman (had lovely dreads, didnt catch his name) who helped us was ready with great suggestions and was very friendly and we definitely plan on coming back
The donuts here were amazing and the customer service was perfect! Will definitely be coming back here!!
The food was decent but we waited half an hour for egg sandwiches. We understand that food will be prepared more slowly do to Covid restrictions, but it seemed to be an organizational issue in the kitchen about managing online orders and walk-in orders. Staff was super friendly, and we appreciated the masks and social distancing.
This place is amazing! The donuts are large, in charge, and delicious! The staff is super fun and friendly. Shout out Oakland!!!10/10 Best donuts around. Will be back!
This place DISCRIMINATES against disabled people!
Called ahead for box of joe, 2 dozen holes. Wasn’t ready when arrived 15 minutes later. Waited and was given half a box of joe - staff argued w me and called me “my man”. Very disappointed and won’t return.
Consistently great donuts, but even more important, very consistent on excellent customer service. A must stop (several times) on every trip to Wilmington.
It’s my weekend go to. Great donuts and sandwich shop.
When it comes to meals such as breakfast it goes without question customer service must must be on par. Donut Inn was a miss for me the food was okay nothing to special something easily made at home. When weighing in the customer service received it reached rock bottom, not welcoming at all. Not somewhere I plan to return.
Actually really impressed with donut inn. Donuts and breakfast sandwiches look amazzinggg. Only had the donuts so far but Ill be back!
So amazing. The best donut I have had since moving here. Friendly, fast service. Great coffee. Unique perfectly baked donuts. Highly recommended!
On my birthday, I wanted donuts from Donut Inn. We decided to get two each for a variety, which included two Sour Cream ones. One was not fresh, the other was fresh. The Glazed Blueberry ones are wonderful. The plain glazed ones were dry.
Four years so far Ive been going here fairly consistently (still not fat). Im into donuts and tried them all over the world. Donut in is easily the best in Wilmington. Long lines at this location because locals know how good it is. Its also next door to a smoothie place. I get a donut and smoothie for a nice treat yo self day. They are getting carried away with sandwhiches which are ok but not a reason to eat here. Need to concentrate on what makes them special and do a few things really well. Like really good donuts. An owner has given my girlfriend free donuts almost every time shes gone in which is seldom and I used to go multiple times a week never got a free donuts. That was awkward.Anyway good donuts, Id be interested in a Donut Inn that just does Donuts and Coffee maybe a basic breakfast sandwhich.
I took my niece while we were in Wilmington on vacation and we loved this place. We ordered bagels, biscuits and donuts (we wanted to try everything!), as well as an apple fritter the size of your head. We enjoyed it all. As I was inside putting milk in my coffee, I mentioned to the gentleman helping me that it was our first time there and he insisted I take a free glazed croissant. It was delicious!
Great service. Great donuts. Great experience
Great donuts and even better customer service. They have also really taken the COVID guidelines seriously.
Chocolate Fluff should be sold as a sandwich instead of a doughnut. It is sinfully delicious, and as much as Ive always loved my cream filled chocolate covered K.K. doughnuts, these are my new favorite.
This was my 1st time visiting The Donut inn and it is a wonderful place, staff super friendly and it serves as a great purpose. Will definitely be returning on my visits to Wilmington
Hands down this is better than any other shop in town, even better than the beach donuts. Well, I just had to get a full dozen assorted and took to Comfort Keepers who uplift the spirit of others. These donuts will bring joy to any office or training meeting. If youre not in a hurry, stay and enjoy with a cup of coffee, and maybe a chat or two.
Donuts are great, the breakfast sanwhich looked good. Coffe stays hot for a long time.
Our five year old son couldn’t have a birthday party because of Covid. The Donut Inn honored him with a special party donut and extra donut holes! They are AMAZING people! Thank you!!
Have had their doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches. Both were excellent. I dont think you could make a bad choice on the doughnuts! If you are calling in an order, make sure you call the right store. With the new Porters Neck location there can be some confusion. Enjoy!
We decided to try this place out as it was next to our sons barber, and we were pleasantly surprised! Not only are the donuts -- and other food -- great, but the atmosphere is quaint and inviting, and the prices are quite reasonable. The Donut Inn is definitely worthy of a try. They serve a great breakfast!
Amazing! Went here for breakfast and could not be happier with my experience. The food was fresh and delicious and the staff was extremely nice! Will definitely be going back next time I’m in town!
My go to donut spot, Boston Creme is my favorite and this place doesnt disappoint. Great staff, nice vibe and the atmosphere is always positive. Love coming here at 0530 am when I need my donut fix.
From donuts, to sandwiches to coffee this place is legit.
Cant believe Ive lived in Wilmington for 1.5 years and never been here before
I work at the CVS on Oleander. We have been slammed with people asking for (you guessed it) toilet paper, hand sanitizer, masks, etc. It’s been a really stressful time for us, as it is for everyone. One of your employees came in and found my co-worker and I working behind the counter. He handed us a box of donuts and a bag of donut holes and said “thank you for working” with a smile on his face and genuine gratitude in his voice. This act of kindness and appreciation not only made my day, but all of the employees that work here. You guys have restored my faith in humanity after I’ve lost it over these past few weeks. Also, your donuts are DELICIOUS.Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
I hate to share the secret, but this place is such a treasure! The best donuts and breakfast sandwiches in town, for sure! I have loved everything I have tried on the menu and the people there are some of the nicest you will ever meet. Great owners, great staff, killer food and menu. Not to mention the fact that they give back to the community... Keep doing what you do, D.I.! We need more businesses like you ❤️
These breakfast sammies are bussin
Great donut options that change with the season. Small but decent coffee/espresso options. Great breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well. Best and the most efficient ordering system for busy mornings. They know you are in a hurry and try to make the wait time as minimal as possible.
Super delicious! A whole range of breakfast sandwich options and fresh donuts! Even lots of coffee and iced/ blended ones. Will definitely be back when we are in town.
My favorite donut spot in Wilmington! Happy to support folks doing great things in their community.
Great breakfast burrito!
The best donuts Ive ever eaten.
Man, everything was great. Omlett, and of course the donuts. Will definitely be back! Staff and owners were super friendly.
