OMG I loved this store! Unique items, outstanding employees, great vibe! I immediately felt lighter and just plain giddy when I stepped inside. Prices are very reasonable and staff was very knowledgeable and helpful! I highly recommend this store! We went to get the One Tree Hill hoodies and bought much more. Loved it!!!

This shop is so cool. My husband and I did a walking ghost tour with guide Jaimie… it was fun full of quirky jokes from the guide and his stories were told with great enthusiasm and flare. Note: these are not just stories… it’s real. Whether your a couple or with children it is good fun. Also for 21+ there is a ghost pub crawl!

Love the black cat shop! There is a range of whimsical items to buy. I bought a funny Pee Wee Herman coaster. The staff is very knowledgeable about the downtown history, and the filming of local TV. You can also buy tickets for the ghost walk here! Great shop.

Over the last two years I have shopped once at the store in Wilmington, been on a ghost walk, and have placed two online orders. On every front, Black Cat has delivered. The store itself is quaint and charming. The folks they hired were delightful to speak with. The ghost tour of old Wilmington was fun and informative (our guide was an amazing story-teller!). Placing online orders I have found them to be responsive and friendly. Highly recommend this local business.

Went in today to buy a few little gifts for the kids...love this place! Amazingly cool and eclectic selection of quirky gifts and fantastic staff that are available and helpful, but not in your face. Will definitely be back again!

This shop is so cool! It had one tree hill stuff and offers 3 different yours. They have a ghost tour which gave us lots of get information on the history of Wilmington, they also have a pub crawl and a Hollywood walk. Next time Im in the area, Im going to have to check out another tour. The have military discount on tours as well as some other discounts. If you want to buy anything wait until after the tour because they will give you some coupons for their store and a couple others. This store is the original CD Alley from One Tree Hill and they are the only store in the world that gets all their shirts and hoodies from the same place the show used.

The customer service here is wonderful and that really made it worth the experience. The tiny buttons could be cheaper, I dont think theyre worth the $1.29 but they do have cool ass stuff on them. This store is the bomb though. I like the incense section.

Took the Ghost walk and enjoyed the location and history. Our guide Tamra was great. The shoppe has lots of goodies you wouldnt find anywhere else.

I just stopped in to see if I could find something quirky as a souvenir, and the guy working was so friendly and outgoing. He handed me a postcard with local restaurants which had a map on the back what a great thing to offer. I would go back if I am in town again. They’re very informative with local information!

Really grateful for John and his staff. We treat our Student Apartment Community to a Ghost Walk twice a year during October but 2020 did its dark magic and I felt haunted by how we could coordinate the event this year. With the help of the Black Cat Shoppe, we were able to have a safe and exciting experience. Weve been on many tours now with many guides and never have we left feeling disappointed. David Heck was our most recent guide and he was FANTASTIC. I felt like I was witnessing the 100 year old crimes with my own eyes in some locations because his theatrics and involvement was so keen. His tales were engaging and interesting, I heard new details about classics and plenty of stories I havent heard before. The banter between locations was worth the tickets alone. Suspicious lights flickering, visits from local wildlife, and shadows of the night made our most recent tour our most memorable, David truly has a connection to the spirit world.Wearing masks was no big deal, there were lots of places to stop and catch our breath and going on a weekday provided the safest experience Ive had, there were almost no cars on the road or loud groups of people to avoid.Thank you for the incredible experience, David, John, and everyone else at the BCS. We will continue to recommend a Ghost Walk to all the visiting relatives of our residents!

I went to the Black Cat Shop yesterday and had such a nice chat with the woman working. She was so funny and knowledgeable about Wilmington. The store was super clean and I noticed how careful she was about making sure everyone had a mask and practiced social distancing. The store itself was full of magical little items you won’t find elsewhere. All in all, I can’t recommend Black Cat enough. Thank you, Margot, for making my trip to Wilmington even more fun. Perhaps I’ll move here...

There is a great selection of really cool items. I love the theme of the shop. Some of the items are cheaper items you can get for lift somewhere else, but that’s true with most things. The store specializes in these types of items and they have to make the business profitable. Friendly customer service.

I went here a month ago and bought a few pride things. The cashier was super super nice and helpful! She even looked up when the next pride event was without even asking! Very considerate, very nice. The shoppe itself has nice items! Little prank items, Wiccan items, hats, and really just everything I love! I hope the cashier gets a raise, she really deserves it.

I love this adorable, quirky store. I have been a customer there for around 10 years and it is my go to place for interesting and fun gifts. Today I was in there and a customer was being really rude to Margot (who has worked there for at least 10 years) over covid safety protocols. Margot handled the situation with grace and still gave us great service after the rude couple left. Hang in there, Margot. We love you!! 💕

The Black Cat Shoppe is a treasure! Shortly after moving here we found this delightful shop, made even more delightful by Margo and her staff, who are always so friendly and helpful. I come here every time I visit Wilmington. There is always something interesting to see/buy. They also do the ghost walk which is so much fun. Its not too spooky but you learn some awesome stuff about the insane history of Wilmington from its pirate days to now. I would definitely recommend.

My family LOVES this place and we always make it a must do on our list when were in the area. The assortment of random stuff is fantastic and reasonably priced too. If you want to actually support small businesses then this is the place for you. Id buy their stuff over Amazon any day, just because of the staff and cool stuff they have.

Worst response to a customer request ever. My 11 year old son was allowed to walk in while I held his ice cream outside. Spent his money without permission on a $35.00 piece of plastic. When we tried to get an immediate refund, the clerk said there was a no refund policy and that I should’ve been standing with my son. I’m a business owner and this was a a good example of how not to handle a simple situation. TAKES ADVANTAGE OF CHILDREN!! Hope you enjoy your profit on my child’s purchase!!!!

A kitschy little place. A must stop for those on the One Tree Hill tour. Not really a family place due to some adult themed items. Dont visit if you are a Trump supporter with no sense of humor. Not cheap. Not great for those with allergies or asthma.

We came to Wilmington from Wisconsin for a nephews graduation from UNCW and a ghost tour was on the weekend plans. A large group of us did the ghost tour, Kent was our guide. He was awesome! At the end of our tour he told us about the black cat shop and said if we were sight seeing we should stop in the shop and he mentioned there was a coupon on the flyer he handed us if we went there. The following day, which was a Friday, even though it was raining out we walked around downtown Wilmington. I spotted the shop and said we should check it out. At this point I had completely forgotten about the coupon. I picked out a few cute things for the grandkids for stocking stuffers. As she was ringing me up I remembered about the coupon and I asked her about it stating I dont remember the details of the coupon but that we had done the ghost tour the night before. She said the coupon was $5 off $25. I said oh cool, what is my total, she said $24.57. I said oh ok, well let me get something else. The woman said to me well do you have any proof that you did the ghost tour. I said no, I didnt have the actual flyer we got but I could tell her a story that he told us about a dog and a ship captain. The clerk said no, that wont work, I need some kind of proof that you actually did the tour like a receipt or something. I said yeah sorry i dont have any proof and my sister in law who lives in Charlotte had left with the others to sign us up for a tour of a historical home so I couldnt even ask her if she had anything in her purse. I told her that all of the arrangements were made prior to us coming into town. Finally I said, you know what Ill just pay for what I got and i left. However, the more i thought about it I started to think about what bad customer service that was for tourists and decided to leave a review. The shop had some cute things but there was a part of me that was annoyed and wanted to tell her i decided i didnt want to buy anything and walk away. For $5 I think that was bad customer service.
