Today was the first time we visited this store. We got there 15 minutes before closing, so we only had a few minutes to look around. As soon as we walked through the door David greeted us with a warm welcome and a big smile. Right away I saw what we were looking for, an old school record player with radio πŸ“» and CD πŸ’Ώ player for only $30 practically brand new. We were so happy for this deal because the same player, youll find on Amazon for $132 the cheapest. When we got home and turn it on we noticed the speakers on it is really powerful. So just shopping for less than 15 minutes I would say it was very successful.

After new management this year, the thrift store is very well organized and looks like a showroom of used furniture. The other areas are also well organize and clean with tons of used items. I shop there regularly and usually get there early, especially on days they have sales. Overall, I would highly recommend anyone to check out all the great finds at Poverello Thrift Store.

This is one of my favorite thrift store locations in South Florida. You can find some great items here. Its a wonderful local treasure. The staff are great and always friendly. The prices are usually reasonable and the money goes to a great cause! Give this place a shot and then head over to the Goodwill and Out of the closet down the street from here.

I went to the thrift store they have on a Thursday with a friend. It was my first time at this location. Its a wonderful place to go if you like bargains. I picked up 2 pieces of Swiss Gear luggage which was in mint condition for about $22 for both. Checking online brand new would have visited over $200. Place seems to always be busy and the staff have a great time and real friendly with customers. Because my friend was over 55, Thursdays seniors get an extra 33% off. My $100 cart of goodies set me back only $70. Instead of throwing your old clothes and household items away. Donate them here. Its for a good cause.

Poverello is many things to many people, but today Ill focus on the thrift shop. A good size store with a wonderful selection of clothes, furniture & housewares. Friendly helpful staff that are happy to help. If I come here for one thing, I usually leave with some treasure that I cant live without. The manager is great. He helped me arrange a delivery as well as a pick up of donated items. The truck was on time each time and the driver & helper were also very professional and efficient. The best thing is that the store helps fund the good works of the food bank as well as all the other wonderful services they provide to the community.

Great cause and a great place to buy things. I only gave 3 stars, because we donated things and I asked when I was there if they take beds and used mattresses. They said yes and when we moved, I had them pickup a lot items. The driver didnt wanted to pickup the bed and the mattress. So if one side says yes and the other no its really uncomfortable for the donor.

One of the best and certainly most reasonable priced to move thrift shops in ft. lauderdale. You have to check in frequently but if you get there when there is a delivery you can walk away with some really quality things. They also have the most affordable book section that is kept organized by genre, etc. Great charity and the first place I felt like I could get a consistent deal every time I visited.

What a discriminating place! Even amongst other LGBT people, Ive never been so horrified by the most insensitive whole lot of people who have the need to feel so entitled about having dismissed others because of a specific reason. Heartless and most certainly disheartened people, actually, makes one think that anyone there besides the customers might be offended by what the actual place should have been rendering: to help others in need, if any there may be. Not the case here. I was rejected immediately and because of it, I have to say that even a Goodwill has and will continue to be a much better well-respected establishment for any thrift needs.

This is a great little thrift store, I didnt have nearly enough time to go through a fraction of the well-kept high-end Goods that the friendly staff had on hand. There wasnt once where someone wasnt trying to make sure that I had anything I needed, all the way down to a free Apple pie on the way out the door, the clothing I purchased was new, and at 15% of the original price. The isles were clean, there was minimal clutter, and overall, it wad a good experience that I for one intend to repeat.

One of the best resources for people living with HIV. What a fabulous non-profit!!

For a thrift store that gets donated stuff for free to resell and prices things like it’s brand new and as full as their store is with things that actually should be thrown away. Appliances that are used with no warranty TVs used no warranty missing remotes priced over $200 for TV ridiculous. Look at what you can buy brand new TVs for now days with a warranty and a remote just over $200. Appliances I’m sorry but you got it for free and you want to charge over $1000 ridiculous. Furniture brand new is way overpriced for the quality of furniture nothing is handmade anymore. When I go into a thrift store and I see a couch priced for $1500 and I just shake my head and laugh no wonder this place is so full of garbage. Picture frames 50% off really you price them at $200 some pictures over $1000 you got it for free your place is so crammed packed with trash it’s ridiculous. Small kitchen table with two chairs for $200 what a joke price the stuff to move bring product and move product out you’re not a brand new retail store you’re a thrift shop that got donations for free. When you ask a manager for assistance and he yells at you and tells you that what you’re asking about Is not there rather than coming in looking lose your customers. The Wilton Manors location is a joke that Police really should go out of business. There other location however the moment you walked through the door they’re telling you about the deals tell you if you see anything that is overpriced let them know and they’ll work with you to move the product store is actually clean and organized the Wilton Manors location things my grandmother had is not there rather than coming and looking lose your customers. The Wilton Manors location is a joke that Police really should go out of business. There other location however the moment you walked through the door they’re telling you about the deals tell you if you see anything that is overpriced let them know and they’ll work with you to move the product store is actually clean and organized the Wilton Manors location things my grandmother had and nobody wants and they’re trying to sell for ridiculous pricing if you have furniture that’s got damage dirty stained what the heck are you selling it for over $200 for and who in their right mind sells used mattresses that is disgusting. The place stinks and is full of overpriced garbage. For you to have the star rating that you have obviously is employees or management giving them that rating they definitely do not have that high of a star rating avoid this place they need to drop their pricing and the only time they have a deal is when they mark all their clothes to a dollar no matter what furniture definitely not a good deal and if you’re looking for things your grandmother should’ve thrown away years ago that’s the place y’all go and find it but you Will pay a lot for it.Seriously folks pay attention thrift stores should not be trying to make that much money on donated materials especially when they’re that cram packed full of garbage yeah furniture is been sitting there for more than a month something is wrong this place has had the same furniture in it for over a year rearrange your store put taller shelves in but you still have the same garbage. Used elderly toilets nasty 🀒 you could put that stuff out at the curb and nobody would even take it for free why is this place trying to charge money for things that they should be selling to move product and keep their store organized and clean put some air fresheners in and price things to move I don’t give it much longer and I’m sure they will have to go out of business or relocate. Especially with the new development from the pride Center going in next-door they won’t be there much longer.

The Poverello center is actually several related entities. The Poverello Health center and Food Bank which serve the LGBT community on several fronts and The Poverello thrift store which helps fund the other two.The thrift store itself is a large warehouse type space that is packed to the ceiling with all sorts of clothing, appliances, furniture and other items. Several years ago, Poverello was based on Wilton Drive and it organized in much the same way. Sadly nothing has changed on that front. Everything is piled up, and covered in a fine layer of dust (or so it seems). Unlike most thrift stores Poverello seems to lean to the pricier side, and some of their pricing seems questionable at best. Look out for 50% sales which pop up on a regular basis.

My partner and I went looking for a headboard for the bed in our spare room for our winter get a way condo in Ft. Lauderdale and decided to see what treasure we could find at Poverello. This is a thrift store and one must not expect a Macys like experience - but that said the stores volunteer staff are always friendly and willing to help out. We arrived at 9:45am a few minutes before opening on a Thursday and already there were a dozen or more people waiting for the doors to open. We looked around and found the perfect headboard - it took some hunting mind you but it was worth it. We also found a few other items that were gently used that we needed - again you have to be of the mindset that you dont mind rummaging through bins or over stuffed shelves to find the thing you are looking for. You name it they most likely have it; from electronics to jewellery to kitchen and tools to collectibles and seasonal items and many many racks of clothing. There is always a great find if you dont mind looking. The headboard we found needed a bit of TLC to make it just right so the volunteer spoke to the supervisor and got the price marked down to $60, which was nice. We picked up about $20 of other items and headed to the cash. The friendly volunteer rang in the items and says that will be $53.60 please.. we paid quickly out the door and felt like the IKEA commercial, saying to ourselves; Start the car! Start the car! because the bill was way lower than expected - after all we had $80 worth of stuff. As we were putting the headboard into the car I looked up and noticed the sign on the front door - Seniors Day Thursday 33% off all purchases! Both a sigh of relief and shock came over me almost at the same time... phew that is why the total was less than expected - BUT HEY Im not a senior - Im only 47... next stop CVS for some Just for Men hair color - they grey has got to go. So note Thursdays are seniors days and a perfect day to go even if you are not quite a senior yet!!
