I’m not even sure where to begin, so I’m just going to opening saying that this place is really cool. The vibe and decor offer a unique blend modern tastes and sensibilities, while offering eclectic “blast from the past” items, such as the old poll-rod vending machines. Well this is located in a very unique location, I almost felt like I was walking into a different world, when walking through the doors. We were helped by two lovely staff members, who were attentive, enthusiastic about what they are a part of and were very knowledgeable about all of their products. I do not consume alcohol, but if I did, the bar and seating area looked very inviting and the drinks that we observed, looked like works of art. The desserts spin from the small chocolate treats, all the way through chocolate cheesecake. I enjoyed a fresh peach and oatmeal bar, which was delicious. Definitely plan to come to this location again.

The Black Mountain Chocolate Experience (Walk-in Edition). Since their move to their new location, I have been trying to make it to Black Mountain Chocolate for some time. Unfortunately, their site is downtown, where parking is limited and horrible during the week between working hours. So today was the day I told myself I would walk a mile if necessary to try them out. Upon entering their location, I was greeted and saw the significant upgrades from their previous site.It was open and spacious. I ordered the chocolate cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies. The chocolate cheesecake did have an excellent chocolaty taste, but the texture was not as creamy and smooth as most cheesecakes. I have not had their cheesecake before, so this was my first time trying it out. However, the chocolate chip cookie was the bomb and still offers a chocolate taste like no other. I would go back to Black Mountain Chocolate, but everything depends on parking and if Im up for the hike. Nevertheless, I will not try their cheesecake again.

Very rich flavor of chocolate ice cream and nice selection of teas. Pretty enjoy walking around inside because of information about how a chocolate bar is made.

Listen, we had a wonderful time here. Had a brownie with vanilla gelato along with a red wine. We then also had what is basically an alcoholic smores. The staff was also very helpful.Why only 4 stars? I was expecting way more chocolate choices. For example, chocolate cake is not on the menu. Maybe it is because I was born and raised a few miles from Hershey PA and their restaurant has everything imaginable chocolate. I expected more than what is there, and that is on me, but that is how I see it.

Wow, my girlfriend and I checked this place out after having lunch and its a great dessert place. We got the goat and chamomile lavender chocolate, cheesecake, Eclair. The drinks were beary something and strawberry shortcake. The berry drink was a normal cocktail but the strawberry shortcake was amazing. It tasted like strawberry chocolate milk. We didnt enjoy the lavender chocolate because we wanted more lavender but thats more of a personal judgement. Everything else was very chocolatey and delicious! Definitely recommended!

This is a great place down in the coal pit. Theyve got chocolate, pastries, and a devine drinking chocolate that is not too sweet. Theyve also got cocktails if you are feeling adventurous. Its across the street from Baily park and worth a stop if youre driving thru Winston-Salem.

Had some shot chocolates on the patio last night with friends. Delicious, reasonably priced, and relaxed friendly atmosphere. Could tell the head bartender was smoothly running the show and making sure everything was perfect. Excellent job guys! QR for all my social medias included, follow my adventures! 😜😘

The place was very clean and the atmosphere was nice. We ordered a vanilla latte, a regular latte, a couple cookies, a scone, and a truffle. The lattes were nice and hot and fresh. However, the lattes were lacking flavor. The peanut butter chocolate truffle was ridiculously sweet. So much so, you couldnt taste the peanut butter over the pure sugar flavor. Cookies were also overly sweet (and Im a huge sweets lover). Scone was good, no complaints there. Disappointed in the selection for a chocolate factory. Very few options.

Black Mountain Chocolate has moved on up since its humble beginnings on Trade St. Their new home is better, more expansive, more variety and did I mention the Aroma of C H O C O L A T E!!! You can now find them inside Bailey Park on Patterson Ave in the heart of the Innovation Quarter.My church recently partnered with them for a local community fundraiser. Fun, summer night location, great environment with lots of seating in and outdoors. Wonderful drinks and delicious treats. Very impressed. Giving five stars even though the bartender was kind of snooty.

Five star on product and quality. Two star finding the new location and parking. Not happy with the new location. Its beautiful inside but hard to find.Update: Im changing my star rating to five. Ive been a huge Black Mountain Chocolate fan for a few years now. I visited their new location again last week with some friends after we had dinner. After finding them the first time, I was a little more acclimated to the area. We went on a Friday evening and was able to find free parking in a nearby parking deck. This was my first time sitting in their beautifully designed dining area. We had one of their crafted cocktails, Black Bear Flip. It was absolutely delicious and not overly sweet! It was a nice environment to sit and enjoy their chocolate creations and have great conversation with friends.

Bites were good and the chocolate milk drink we got was pretty solid! It was rich do expect a strong chocolate flavor but thats how it should be.There were no tours or anything anymore but the area its in is so much fun. An incredible amount of history which was so awesome to see.

Nice and relaxed vibe. My kids loved the cold chocolate drink and cookie dippers. I was surprised that the savory spinach and parmesian scone was sooooo good. Nice sitting area...although alot of people were taking prom pictures. I enjoyed the chocolate alcoholic drink...although the black bear flip was not too good at all.

Lovely location with plenty of parking in the vicinity. Can watch the chocolate making process through glass windows through a public hallway in the store. The front is where you can order from the cafe menu and make purchases of wrapped chocolate. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked them about recommended products and shipping prices. Bought several bars of chocolate here for souvenirs/Valentines day and was not disappointed!

Had an iced chai and it was amazing. Oatmeal/Peach bar and the S’mores tart were good too! Plus the girl (red hair I think)who made our drinks was very sweet.

I walked in with my dog, I shouldnt have. The lady stopped me at the door (very politely btw) and offered to hold my dog outside while I get what I need. Thats my kind of people. The chocolate was amazing too which made my day even better. Around $7 for a bar but worth every cent. The milk chocolate is made using goats milk and has a slight tartness to it, really refreshing. The dark chocolate is my favorite though, smooth and decadent.

Gem of a place with an adorable location and beautiful interior! They no longer do tours since moving locations but have big windows where you can watch the action. Our kids weren’t even bummed about the no tour- it’s a chocolate factory!

One of the best places for chocolate in winston. They have a tour you can take of the facility from start to finish, and they have a great little drinks area and places to sit in addition to the chocolate bars they have out. Samples available. I guess you can decide if the $6 bars are worth it to you. The quality is obviously extremely high.

This place is great! It was so fun to visit and get a first hand look at the chocolate making process from bean to bar!Their work rooms have large glass windows so you can see the equipment and watch the magic at work!If you call ahead you can schedule a guided tour, we didnt opt to do that, but its good to know that its an option!They have several fresh made bars of chocolate our for you to sample, and of course plenty more available for purchase!Their hours are definitely limited so youd need to plan your trip accordingly, but worth visiting for sure!

I love this new 🍫 chocolate shop in downtown Winston in Bailey South Power Plant in the new recently renovated factory area. The shop is modern and has a great selection of macarons, truffles, tortes, tarts and 🍪 cookies/brownies that are to die for. I recommend the cocoa nib brownie, the chocolate chess tart and the banana pudding macaron. The new location has outdoor seating and ♿ handicap accessible parking, 🚻 restrooms, and seating.

I called on 5/28/21 to order up something special for my sons 30th birthday. Tirra provided above and beyond excellent customer service. This is one of my son’s favorite places. Everything we have tried from their cookies, chocolate bars, mousse bars, brownies, and tarts are absolutely wonderful. A special arrangement was prepared by Tirra for my son on his birthday and he and the staff where he works were able to enjoy all of this deliciousness. Thank you Tirra and Black Mountain Chocolate for a wonderful experience both personally and taste wise. I would highly recommend dropping by and trying anything your heart desires.

I love coming here! They have a full bar and a wonderful drink list. My favorite is the chocolate old fashioned and the bartender, Erin is amazing.

Gluten and dairy free options. Staff is masked and cleaning tables between customers. The new location is much bigger. The chocolate truffles and the chai are still delicious. Highly recommend.

The s’mores tart had a weird taste and my son didn’t like their chocolate eclair I bought him.

The chocolate and service was great. I love their lounge area and great outdoor space to enjoy everything. Will return soon for date night.

Black Mountain Chocolate Factory was a real treat-in more ways than one! The nice folks there offered us free samples of a few of their handmade confections. Their chocolate is so clean that even our son with multiple food sensitivities could eat it. What a thrill! Tours are given for a small fee, but spots fill up fast. Needless to say, we left the storefront with a few goodies.

Whatever chocolate doesn’t taste old taste insanely sweet or bitter. Horrible service and have a super Karen that works there. They were also very nasty about my toddler. Terrible chocolate and terrible people. I would rank lower if I could.

Cool place to visit! Spotless clean. Free parking. Free Wi-Fi. Knowledgable staff! A little expensive but not too bad...47 miles from Burlington. We Enjoyed our visit!

Neat little place. It was smaller than I expected for a place offering tours but worth the stop nonetheless. They have one chocolate machine and make all their chocolate by hand. It all tastes amazing and the quality of bean is top notch. If youre looking for a great chocolate bar, this is the place.

Did the chocolate tour here and it was very informative. We went through the whole process of chocolate making and the guided tour was awesome. Not expensive either and the chocolates are delicious as well

Always a joy when going to black mountain! Id say they have the finest craft chocolate beverages that Ive ever tasted. I go about once a week, and whether your a Winston-Salem resident or not, its worth your visit. Staff is always very friendly and conversing, making you feel very welcome. Its one of my favorite small business to support locally!

We had a tour of the factory and sampled several chocolates. We had several kids and the tour guide was awesome at explaining everything in a way that kept their attention😊. The chocolate was AMAZING!!!!! Definitely worth it. We bought some coffee, gelato, and chocolate bars. All scrumptious.

I love Black Mountain Chocolate. They consistently make delicious chocolates and pastries. We really love their chocolate chip cookies and salted caramel tarts. I also love their new distillery alcohol infused truffles. The chocolate is more expensive than a Hershey bar but the quality and taste are so much better. My favorite bar is there goats milk chocolate. If youre a fan of hot chocolate I would also try there sipping chocolate too.

Their chocolate is made from scratch! A true bean to bar chocolate shop with the best chocolate chip cookies and brownies you will ever have. Specializes in dark chocolate. They often do special treats for holidays and special events and they are always delicious. You can call ahead and set up a tour to see how the bean to bar process works. They also offer teas and coffees. Another great example of Winston-Salems evolving food scene. Its located near a few of the new breweries and distilleries in the area, and would make a great stop in between them!

The chocolates are AMAZING!!!! Their hours aren’t the greatest which is why I gave them a four star review. I feel like they miss a lot of business being closed in the mornings when Mary’s gourmet diner has a line out the door on Saturdays and Sundays and the people want coffee, and Fiddling Fish patrons who might want a evening sweet treat that’s literally right across the parking lot. 12-5 is an awfully short day. I say this because I have been in both of these situations! So needless to say I had to come on my lunch break to stock up on a 12 pack of chocolates, a salted caramel tart, and a latte!!

I planned a tour of the factory as a surprise for my boyfriend while on vacation. It was amazing! It was very interesting and it left me with a knowledge and taste for chocolate (especially dark chocolate) Ive never had before. I hadnt even realized before this that all of their chocolate was what wed categorize as dark chocolate, but the flavor was unlike any other chocolate Id had before. Were still searching for a place around our house that sells it!

Very disappointed. They shut down drinks 15 minutes early. While we waited, 12 more people came in and everyone got turned down for drinks. I know they were ready to go home but that was a lot of people to not serve drinks too. And no apologies...I wouldve been upset if i knew my staff did that. So we went down the street to mojis which was great!

This place was great when the owner was running it. Now the idiots they hire is running to the ground surely! Bad customer service! The guy with glasses they place at the counter has no idea how to make a simple mocha. Its all water and sugar. He just put the coffee on the counter, dont tell whose order it is. Asked me to pay twice for my order. Thank God I had a receipt. Outrageous!!!!Update: I had a reply from BMC saying if I emailed them the amount of the bill they will issue a refund. I did as they directed but I never heard from them. I guess customer satisfaction and experience is not a priority for this company. I just dont care for the false promise of refund made publicly, no one asked you to!

An excellent place to go for birthdays and holidays such as Mothers day and Valentines day. One of the best chocolate shops. Period.

After a yummy brunch, my fiancé and I visited this wonderful chocolate shop. They make their own chocolate onsite and customers can watch the process through glass windows. Good selection of chocolate items including some drinks. They only make dark chocolate items, so if youre looking for milk chocolate, probably not the place to go. However, they do a great job offsetting the chocolate to make it smoother. We had the eclairs (which they only do on Saturdays) and they were probably the best eclairs weve had! The outside was nice and crispy, the inside was a silky cream filling and it was topped with a smooth layer of dark chocolate with small chocolate chunks on top.

This is an awesome little chocolate shop where you can watch them make all kinds of bars and other shapes.. we tried some of them and they were really good.. they have marshmallows that are way different than what you would buy in a bag.. cheers!

Absolutely love this place. The chocolate is extremely high quality along with their other sweet creations. My favorite is the Texas Pete hot sauce brownie. Its a mind blowing experience. The service is above and beyond helpful and the location is perfect.

Interesting tour, learned a lot about chocolate. Would have liked to see things live, but given the size and the noise from the machines I understand why they cant. Chocolate was delicious! Also got an awesome salted caramel brownie! Planning to order some bars for Christmas presents this year...

Setup was a little awkward. Family of four blocking the hallway at the window, so Im not sure exactly what there is in the beyond. All I found were a few little goodies at the front. Excited to try those. The cashier was very nice. Dont feel like I got a true feel for this place.

Yummy chocolate. The best part was being able to sample the product before purchasing. They do run tours through the production area though we did not join in.

Not much of a factory tour (even self guided) and very limited product that is misrepresented as good for you when it isnt. Blueberry oatmeal cookie was delicious. Blueberry brownie and salted caramel chocolate tart were not very tasty.

Amazing little chocolate factory! The staff are all super friendly and helpful. They also have a little hallway where you can sample the chocolate and watch it be made right in front of your eyes! The chocolate bars are satisfyingly creamy and my smores chess tart was both beautiful and delicious! Will definitely be going back.

Rich chocolate. Coffee available as well as tours. They helped me with a big box of chocolates for valentines this year, which was a hit with the missus! Vegan chocolate offerings too.

$5 guided tour of how they make the chocolate from bean to bar is a great value and neat experience. All cocoa they use is fair-trade and organic. Delicious chocolate and other chocolate products (truffles, pastries, ice cream, hot chocolate).

Not much here that seems to be offered. They had samples of delicious chocolate, but no obvious supply of what you can purchase. I was intending to purchase a couple bars of chocolate, but I didnt see anything merchandised for sale. Their chocolate ice cream was good though.

The chocolate was outstanding, but the experience left a lot to be desired. I brought my kids here because I thought they would enjoy seeing the chocolate - making process. Im sure they would have, but they werent making any chocolate. Absolutely nothing was happening in the factory, except that two people were sitting at a table, talking. The machines werent even running. But, the worst part was when a customer came in and asked for something they didnt have. As soon as he left, the woman working at the counter turned to the woman in the other room and shouted, I just had the most annoying customer! loudly enough for everyone in the store to hear. I hope today was just a fluke, because I would like to come back and try again.

Took a trip to Winston Salem and found this little place and the experience was very cool and interesting! We took the tour and learned a lot about the chocolate making process! We read all the reviews and saw how expensive the chocolate is but once you take the tour youll understand why the price is what it is! Defiantly recommend and I also recommend the drinking chocolate its amazing!

Wow! I have to say love the appreciation for the cocoa bean. Customer service was wonderful upon entrance the Samples of chocolate were amazing, creamy, and rich in taste.
