Wow. Just wow. Superb prices. Unbelievable collection. Very diverse and complete. You name it, it is probably here. Live music at the center of the store. Tables and chairs scattered throughout to make your selections and delve in to be sure this is what you want, to study, or to hangout. Great place. Don’t miss it. Very friendly staff.

Wonderful eclectic rare and used books store. A vanishing kind of place that deserves support. That said, Im almost ashamed to admit the lack of a/c forced my wife and I to leave sooner than we would have liked. We intend to visit again in cooler weather.

I went here looking for cookbooks and my boyfriend was looking for Halo books. We didn’t find any Halo books but there was an awesome collection of cookbooks that I spent 45 minutes looking through. I actually ended up buying a car book (they had a ton of Hanes manuals and other repair guides that were awesome) and it was relatively cheap. I’d rather spend my money at a small business than going to Barnes and noble or something like that for books. The ambience was really cool, and there were also old video games which I think are neat. I want to go again soon!

They have something for everyone. Jam sessions are back on Sundays at 2PM. Great folks, great time!

First of all this place has off street parking. The owner was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are very affordable. When it is book hauling time this place is top five on my list.

I have spent about $600 here over the course of three visits. Great quantity and quality books, for extremely reasonable prices. If you love books, this location is a must-see. One of the top ten used bookstores between Virginia and Maine.

This remains the best bookstore in York. Its the sort of place where you go in to buy a specific book and come out with 3 different ones and then you have to go back and get the specific book later.

Love this bookstore, one of the best in Pennsylvania! Leaving a review because the parking here is super difficult to get right. There is a large parking lot in front of the store but be warned, your car will be booted or towed if you dont park in the two parking spaces next to the handicapped spot to the left of the store. The York Emporium Parking Only on the right corner of the lot is for the owner so dont park there either or you will be booted as well. Owner should really make sure his customers park correctly and warn them when they arrive as he sits right by the front entrance. Apparently this happens to customers on a regular basis and the boot company is aware that its a problem. Cost to remove the boot if you catch the boot company within the first five hrs is $75, prices increase afterwards plus towing fee (estimated $350). For a used book store that has great $5 below finds just pay for street parking with quarters. Its not worth figuring out the parking lot situation until the owner buys more parking spaces. Very friendly owners though, absolutely have had no issues with the bookstore itself.

Loved this place the staff was friendly and helpful. He was very knowledgeable. The store is the perfect mixture inbetween organization and disorganization . Had beautiful old antique books. Everything is VERY reasonably priced. I would recommend to anyone who loves flea markets and thrifting.

Great old world atmosphere. Collectibles as well as books, and a whole record store inside with awesome old posters. Love to come here and browse for hours.

Recently found this little bookstore and am super excited to have found a little slice of heaven in a crowded city. Large selection of books, clean and cozy atmosphere, and the staff was so pleasant during my time there. I definitely recommend any bookworm going to spend some time here!

This is a hidden gem! If you love books you have to visit! Each section has its own little set up where you can sit and read or just enjoy the scene! They have more than books also! I could spend all day here, and those that work there were extremely friendly!

Absolutely enjoy going here, either for a visit, or to sell off some old books, this place is amazing. The staff, for starters, are friendly and knowledgeable, which is a plus in a place this size. This place looks small from the outside but it is very misleading! The book shelves seem to tower in size and you can easily get lost in almost any book imaginable, as their selection can reach the stars. They usually serve coffee and cookies for their patrons, and are very courteous to their customers. I’m thankful; a real bookstore full of wonder. Books aren’t the only items for sale, so go on down for an afternoon, and guarantee you won’t want to leave!

What a lovely bookstore! A wide variety of used books organized by genre, making it easy to find anything you could possibly be looking for. They also sell DVDs and miscellaneous items. The staff is friendly and willing to help if you need anything. The prices are reasonable and when they have sales, theyre even better! The atmosphere is lovely as well, I could spend quite some time just browsing and be content.

A must visit. Ample private parking. Excellent selection of books.

Went here for the first time today. From the outside you dont realize how large this book store is. There are so many books to choose from. Everything is categorized and easy to navigate. There are chess tables and the childrens section even has little chairs for the kiddos. Great prices on books. Will be going back!

Practically any type of book you could imagine is here. Very interesting place, I recommend checking it out if you have some time to spare. Prices are very reasonable.

The place is quite large with a huge selection of used books and some other things. Prices are also very reasonable. The only thing that could have been better was some of the organization of items.. For instance, there was no Christian fiction section at all; it was all mixed in with the rest of the genres.

First time at the York Book Emporium and did not disappoint, love the set up there.

Generalist. Mostly used books with a sprinkling of very attractively priced antiquarian items. Courteous and very helpful. VERY large selection of science fiction/fantasy.My first visit as I visited family near York. (I am a retired antiquarian bookseller of 35 years in the trade.)

The York Emporium is a great place to find all sorts of used books, vintage items, and records. The selection goes across all age groups with many categories to satisfy your curiosity. The owner is a great guy to interact with as well. I would definitely recommend this place.

An absolute treasure trove of books from all genres!! Great prices, wonderful atmosphere and the owner is an encyclopedia himself of books. You could easily spend over an hour in there without even knowing.

This is a hit with us. An unusual collection of books, antiques and quiet nooks to read. They carry some great first editions and excellent classic literature, as well as any other kind of book a person would ever need. Nice selection of comics, too. Very eclectic assortment - something for everyone.

This place is SO COOL! The owner is friendly. There arent people following you around asking if you need help, even if youve been browsing for two hours... heh. The childrens area is FILLED with old books Ive never even heard of. Every section has a great selection. Perfect for finding treasure!! I absolutely love this place and could spend forever here. The owner Jim is great to talk to. Awesome selection. The store could use some work to keep the books in better shape, but Im sure its a cost saving measure. Lots of fun events are held here. Very family friendly.

My favorite bookstore. It’s changed a tad since the update, but still has my heart. You can score awesome older books for very reasonable prices (almost steals). Various times there are small bands practicing or other going ons happening. It adds to the feel of the place.

A book lovers dream! As long as youre coming in for nothing specific and plan to browse for at least an hour minimum. Organized by genre for the most part. Owner is super helpful with anything you may be looking for. Prices are usually very fair. Also have a decent selection of records and blu-rays. Been going there for probably going on 10 years and its always a great time going in.

A wonderful treasure. If you are a lover of books, this place is not a stop in your travels, it’s a destination. I live in Maryland and on rare occasions have to go up to York, but this store being open when I’m planning to go is what makes or breaks my decision to travel up there. Kind of weird hours though so always check before making the trip.

Most enjoyable used book store I’ve found in my travels throughout the U.S.. The place is huge with book published anywhere from recently to more than 100 years ago. The staff is extremely warm and friendly, it feels like you’ve dropped by an old friend’s house rather than a place trying to sell you something. Prices are extremely reasonable, particularly considering the age and condition of the older books. Recommend setting aside an hour of your time to venture around and find various gems.

Wow! What a diamond in the rough. I love used books stores. This is a used book store on steroids. A labyrinth of every genre of book you can imagine. My daughter and I had a great time maneuvering through the shelves and shelves of books.Very friendly staff to boot.I will be back again and again.

Recently renovated (and reorganized), this used bookstore is a fun visit when downtown. Great prices, a wealth of knowledge, and anchored by a community that frequents it as more than a store. Records, games, and memorabilia too.

The store is doing some major remodeling so sections have been moved to different locations. It appears they are almost doubling in size. A great book store to spend a few HOURS browsing!

From the outside it looks like a small house porch but the second you step inside its like stepping into another world. There are books on every subject in this store, and if anyone walks out empty handed then theyre crazy. I have spent hours in here just browsing, and that was while being rushed. If I was left unattended I would probably end up moving in. Ive recommended this store to anyone I know that enjoys reading or anything antique, and if I can find an excuse to go there I go. By far my favorite store for books/ old antiques.
