This is my favorite (and only??) independent bookstore in Yuma. The owner also sells vinyl records, VHS, DVDs, cassette, 8-track, and audio books. This place is a treasure trove if you are willing to dig a little bit. And his prices are always very reasonable.

Loved this place! I’m down here with family for a short time and finished the book I brought with so I stopped in to pick up some more, not only amazing prices and books but wonderful people! Had a great conversation with the owner and the young woman working with him as if I had known them for a while. Stopped by again today before leaving for my flight and was bummed to see it closed. Hopefully I’ll be back some day!

The gentlemen helping me were witty and fun to talk to. They played older music that added to the atmosphere of the whole shop. The books are inexpensive and there are easily thousands to choose from so make sure you have some free time because its easy to get lost in all the excitement.

One simply doesnt encounter many used bookstores like Bandana Books anymore: books only loosely organized by genre, many books still in boxes not yet shelved, books not yet picked over by predatory internet resellers, and an owner full of stories himself happy to hold court with anyone willing to listen. As a bonus (to me): an extensive collection of hard and softcover fantasy and sci-fi. Be ready to hunt around and brave a bit of cigarette smoke and bawdy humor at check out. Bandana Books is a throwback to a time of independent used bookstores you dont see anymore.

I was visiting from LA and found this old book shop. They have a wide selection and some very rare, hard to find books, and theyre nice people. I feel we really should do our best to buy from brick and mortar shops run by small business owners -- theyre a kind of rare treasures nowadays.

Large selection of used paperback and hardback books, and a proprietor that is quite a character. This book store feels like ones I used to visit with my parents 30 years ago, not at all the clean coffee-shop with a couple antique books and a bunch of new book club approved novels. Stop here and get reading!

Bandanna Books is a marvel of modern commerce. Never before have I experienced (and hopefully never again will I experience) a bookstore so filthy, so cluttered, so poorly managed, and so redolent of gag-inducing stenches. Students of organizational psychology take note; Bandanna Books is a case study in retail dysfunction that merits intense academic scrutiny. My experience at Bandanna Books began on a warm, lazy afternoon. Possessed by the urge to read but unable to get to the library (which was closed), I decided to give Bandanna Books a try. I drove to Main Street. I parked. I approached the bookstores entrance. As soon as I stepped through the door, I knew that Id made a mistake.Slumped behind the front counter was one of the least healthy and least pleasant-looking people I have ever seen. He was middle aged. He had a strange, surly snarl on his sagging face. He was the proprietor of Bandanna Books. Between his long greasy hair and his generally unkempt appearance, he looked like a meth-addicted high school dropout. And if his tweaker appearance was subjectively off-putting, then his business skills were objectively abysmal. The proprietor offered no greeting as I stepped into his shop--a shop devoid of other customers. Although I was taken aback by the condition of the shop, I tried to suppress my revulsion. After all, you cant judge a book by its cover. Right?Hoping to find a silver lining in the dark cloud of Bandanna Books, I said hello to the proprietor and asked if I could look around. What followed was a series of snide, sarcastic remarks from the proprietor. When I told the proprietor that I didnt care for his condescending remarks, he told me to get out of his (empty) store. I did. Gladly.Although my trip to Bandanna Books lasted only a few minutes, it was an experience that left an impression on me. Bandanna Books is a Main Street business. Its located in the heart of downtown Yuma. Presumably, like all centrally located businesses, Bandanna Books should enhance the civic culture of its home city.So what does it say about Yuma that Bandanna Books is allowed to exist? Do Yumas leaders approve of a dilapidated hovel on Main Street? Do Yumas leaders approve of a business that looks and smells like a garbage heap? Do Yumas leaders like alienating tourists and driving down the local tax base by enabling a dysfunctional business?Whatever the case, one thing is clear: when it comes to Bandanna Books, judging the book by its cover is completely acceptable.

On the plus side they have lots and lots of very dusty books, and on the negative side they have lots and lots of dusty books everywhere (on the shelves, floor, crates, and boxes). The prices were reasonable. $1.50 per paperback and hardbacks were half off the prices written inside. The books were alphabetized by author and were loosly sorted by genre. So many books, so little time. Will be back.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area! Love the street corn (cut off the cob and served in a bowl for easier eating) Tortas are my fave, hearty sandwiches on toasted rolls with avocado, lettuce, tomato, spicy mayo and fillings like carnitas, chorizo and egg. Cute decor and good service make for a great dining experience. Weve been back about 5 times and its always been good.

Nasty full of cigarette smoke, the ceiling was caving in from neglect and rot. Every book you can imagine, but no real care is being taken with them. Piled up, falling apart and in some cases, damp and molding on the floor. If you are a bibliophile, it will break your heart. Tried to rescue some sad books, but prices are way too high...

This store smelled so bad of smoke (probably because the store owner was smoking behind the counter). After wandering around a bit, I asked for help and the owner was so rude to me and did nothing to help. Most of the books I wanted were badly smoke damaged. When we tried to leave, the owner started talking to my husband, and when I tried to join in the conversation the guy would shout stop interrupting! or something similar, followed by profanities, then say to my husband you put up with this sh**? He made several sexist and inappropriate remarks before we managed to leave.I cant believe this place is still in business.

1st time checking out this book store. Sorry to say I will not be back.Started to find what i was looking for right away, but I quickly became very uncomfortable after only a few minutes.I asked the older man, Smoking behind the counter, if they accept credit cards, but he said no, so I asked him if it would be ok if I picked out some books and left to get some cash. To which he replied, You can do whatever you want. You could spend the night if youd like.I dont like leaving bad reviews, because I believe everyone can have a rough day and make mistakes. Its one thing when someone has poor customer service, its another when they make an unnecessary and inappropriate remark.I like to support small businesses, which is why I decided to show up, very disappointed with my experience.
