This is my first time at this location. Im not from that area. The restaurant was clean and the server was a nice person. The food was good and the price was very reasonable. The restaurant has a small and simple menu. Its a good place to go if you want to have brunch. Id recommend stopping in if youre in the area.
Food can be hit or miss sometimes but they have my favorite French onion soup. The staff are so sweet and accommodating. Made small talk with our waitress about how we just graduated school and she gave us a slice of pie on the house! Really feels like the small town restaurants from back in the day (or so I’m told as I am still fairly young lol)
After waiting 5 minutes to be seated and two other people waiting to pay their check the manager showed up and seated us stating they were short handed because no one wants to work, while the time we waited her along with two other employees were sitting in the bar talking. Three tables needed cleared and not a waitress in sight. All this with the owner/manager on site. Whats wrong with this picture? Will not been returning for sure.

I have seen the Waterloo change so much over the years. This visit was not the best. We waited to order, waited for our food for 20 minutes. Didnt get our salads until I asked about them when the food was brought out. We never got any bread, but maybe they dont offer bread anymore. The food was just okay.

I went there twice this last week with a client and the place was clean and friendly and the prices are very decent. The food was fantastic. Theyve done some remodeling and you can tell it looks really nice. Im definitely going back with other clients because it just seems like the perfect location and the perfect perfect atmosphere.
My experience here has been excellent. The menu has a lot to offer. For lunch, many options. For dinner, even more options.I havent eaten anything here that I wouldnt order again, which says a lot. Pork chop, burger, chicken, all very good. Appetizers too.The bar area is my favorite... Very comfortable in there.

You know this is one those Akron staples that everytime you go may not be 5 stars but 99.9% of the time it is. Few and far between the service may have been a little off or the food not as good as it was the last time. That happens, thats the industry. The Waterloo is a great place, the food is almost always great, the atmosphere is fantastic, the and the service was excellent. This is a place worth visiting. If you visit for the first time and something is off, dont chalk it up as a bad experience. Give them at least a chance to impress you on the next visit because I can guarantee that they will. Thank you Waterloo, youve shown us the care and consideration that $100 a plate restaurants never have.
We had Waterloo cater our rehearsal dinner and happy hour for our wedding. They were incredible to work with and everything was so easy. Our guests for both absolutely loved the food and told us many times!

We used to come to the Waterloo for many years, back when it was still “dry”. Always good food, and most of all, people. Unfortunately quite a few of our “normal” people left, and the food and service started to decline. This caused us to shy away for a few years, until recently when we decided to give them another try.I’m here to tell you they’re back and better than ever! The people are new to us but very friendly and courteous. And the food is AMAZING. The decor has been updated, but the charm of the original is still present (the men’s room ceiling tile still “pops” when you open the door!, they still decorate the large window bays, stained glass ceiling artwork). There is now a bar and alcohol available. Even with a reservation, we had to wait a while to be seated. Then our server (long blonde hair) was the least friendly and least attentive server I have ever had anywhere. She never checked on us, she took forever to take our order. She reached over people to give others their food without even a “pardon my reach” comment. It took over an hour for us to be seated and food to reach our table, by the time my food came my kids were so over being there that I had to take our food to go! What a miserable visit. What a miserable server. Will never go back!
So far I have ordered The Club with fries and The Big Chipper with fries. Both sandwiches were delicious. The fries were excellent. They seemed to have about the perfect amount of herbs, spices, salt, and pepper. Great taste. Cool logo. Cool napkins with logo. Lol. I really like this place so far.
My husband and I have been coming here for years. It has become our special place. However I do not believe we went once during 2020 (even before Covid-19). Tonight we decided to treat ourselves to a night out. I knew my husband would order Fried Chicken and my personal favorite was always the Waterloo Steak or Grilled Liver. Sadly neither of my favorites are on the new menu..so I had to try something new. Oh my goodness I can not express how good the Fish Tacos are (my new favorite). The menu is not the only thing revamped The Waterloo has a new look which is beyond beautiful and they now offer a nice selection of alcohol. Our server was very attentive and everything was delicious. We plan to visit at least once a month! Thank you for a great night out!
Make sure you have enough food available so when you have large party and you can only get certain food because you ran out of food, but you knew you where going to have a large party coming.

Met friends for dinner before a church event. The food was delicious, with generous portions. After our event, we ended up back there for wonderful ice cream. All very reasonably priced as well. Looking forward to going back. The staff here is always great and the atmosphere is good. I would recommend this place to all.

Ive been here off and on for a little over 10 years, back then Id have to say they were better than they are now. They got rid of their liver and onions which was my favorite meal. Came back here recently and was a little disappointed... ordered a Reuben and the packed meat in the sandwich was a little cold in the middle but warm on the outside, it was pretty meh. My father in law loved his French onion soup however he also ordered breakfast and it was a very small portioned meal... my son also didnt get his side salad. If it wasnt for the good times years back I wouldve given a lower rating. Hope they get better.
The food is so good, I especially love the cabbage rolls, but the salads are great too. We take the grandkids and the kids meals are huge and very good. Friendly staff, good prices👍
We ordered an Akron Skillet and an omelet. Both were outstanding. Only 4 tables occupied on this Saturday morning at 8:45.

The pot roast meal for 4 was amazing. Took it home and my husband, who is not a big fan of roast, couldn’t stop raving about it, highly recommend it. Just don’t know how they get it so juicy.

I must say I went against my better judgement and ordered our Thanksgiving dinner for our family dinner. I gave a 4 stars due to these factors. We went on the day before to pick up the dinner. Went in and everyone practiced social distancing, but felt like things were disorganized. We were even in before the rush of others coming in to pick up the dinners. It took an older woman to take charge and got things moving which was fine. They were helpful and helped take things to the car which was nice.So on Thanksgiving day we got everything set up and ate. Turkey was really good. Mashed potatoes were good as well as the coleslaw. The gravy was fine your standard type of gravy. Nothing to write home to grandma about. The stuffing however was more like the texture of bread pudding. Just wish it was better. I will say the Apple pie was out of this world. Pumpkin pies were good...standard. The stuffed grape leaves were the highlight for me. Overall the dinner was good, but was hoping for knock your socks off. I am all for supporting out local businesses was just hoping for a holiday meal that was going to be more than what was delivered taste wise overall. In other words no wow factor. So, in conclusion next year hope things get back to normal so we can go back to Tangiers for turkey day.!!!!
Food was so so. Burger was good itself. Bag was not fresh and limp, the egg was cooked right on it. The fries were not crispy like I asked for but were cold, limp, and oily.
Had great food and service. They are keeping customers safe by wearing masks and distancing the tables very well. Had french onion soup which was very rich and tasty. Only thing I would have liked is the crock put under the broiler to brown the cheese.

We ordered all sorts of stuff, and were not disappointed with anything! I do wish the had regular lemonade for Arnold Palmers. The waitstaff was on top of everything! We didnt have half of our drinks finished before we got refills. This place is so much better than the chain restaurants!
Service not great. Waitress never asked if we wanted refills etc. Attention to our table was poor after dishes were given to us. They only had 8 people in total so no reason for it. Food was good.
It’s either good or bad. I have been a patron of the Waterloo for several years as it is right down the street. When it’s good, it’s good and when it’s bad it’s bad depending on who is cooking and it is never consistent. So it’s basically always a shot in the dark of which end you’ll come out on. I recommend the Waterloo salad (when it’s good). I think the service is typically mediocre but usually not “bad”.
What an amazing restaurant all around! My family and i stopped in the other night for our first time and really enjoyed ourselves. We had a great dinner there, one of the best we’ve had to tell you the truth. Our waitress (Paige) was beyond excellent! Made us feel very welcomed and had a great personality! We will definitely be back to eat here!

Came here after my great grandfathers funeral today and was greeted by a very rude blonde running front. She told us we should of had an reservation and then told us she can’t seat us all together because of covid( we literally are family and are always together..) as she walked away she said “Jesus Christ” under her breath. We immediately wanted to leave because that is no way to treat customers. I am giving 2 stars cause the food was good and the waitress we had was nice and fast.

I hate leaving one star but the last few times Ive ordered carry out it has been nothing but trouble. Once they forgot to put one of our dinners in the bag and I had to drive all the way back and now today my wife ordered breakfast for us and when I get the bill its lower than expected they forgot to include one of the breakfast for our family. I asked several times why it was not included and hear my wife never ordered it. (I was right next to her when she placed the call) they said they could add it then wait an additional 15 minutes on top of the extra 10 minutes I already had waited past the quoted 20. Make sure you throughly check your bags before leaving here and have them recap your order on the phone.

Most of our food was really good but the mac and cheese was very basic and the coffee was from the bottom of the pot. There was a menu error as well. It stated that all seafood dinners come with salad and when we ordered that turned out to not be true and they did not correct the problem to match the menu.

I went to Waterloo for the first and probably only time today.The place itself was fine. As in atmosphere. Thats the only reason I even gave them 2 stars.The service was not attentive in the least, but it was Sunday, so Ill give them the benefit of the doubt that they were probably harried. One thing I couldnt figure out is why one of the servers just hung out by the wall waiting to pounce on the table the second we left. He stood there for at least 20 minutes. It made me feel very uncomfortable.The main issue I had was the food. I ordered a meal that they called lasagna, but what to me tasted exactly like a can of Chef Boyardee. Even the garlic bread was terrible. It wasnt particularly garlicky, and the bread wasnt solid enough. It was mostly air.

We worked with Chef John and Terry for our wedding 10/19/2019. Waterloo was INCREDIBLE to work with. They helped us plan and customize our menu, had flawless set-up and clean-up, and served absolutely delicious food. The tastings were always fun as well! We had so many compliments from our guests, as the food was divine and the bar service was quick and friendly. I recommend their catering whole-heartedly, as they really helped make our day perfect. Thank you for everything!
Visiting with my dad, we went to Waterloo close to his home. He and my son had breakfast, while I went with the lunch special of beef tips & noodles. First, we walked in and saw the amazing dessert counter- Ive never seen pies like that! They were huge! The menu had many fantastic sounding options, but I just had to have the beef tips. Great flavor and great price! My son tried a bite, then another, and another... and said he had to get the meal for himself before we left Ohio! He had French toast, and I dont know what kind of loaf they use but the slices were huge! He really enjoyed it as well. We all filled up with our meals, so we didnt have any room for dessert. They have a lot of sundaes we would have loved to try. I highly recommend Waterloo, you will not be disappointed!
