Black Mesa is an acceptable coffee/food establishment BUT the city/mayor should allow some popular food establishments in to the airport, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.Almost all food services at the airport are owned by Fresquez industries.
The latte was so so, rather weak/watery...? Staff were mostly brisk - they acted like they were covered up and there were only like 6 people to their 4 or 5 barristas.
Had the breakfast burrito, it was big and very tasty plus my wife and I shared it. The burrito kept us happily full all the way to Chicago and that is no small feat since I am a larger than a normal person and can eat for two. Right price for buying it inside the airport.
My Southwest Turkey and cheddar panini was delicious. My husband had one, too. My daughter had a ham and cheese hot sandwich.
Really good sandwich, especially for airport food. I had the Turkey sandwich and it was hot and fresh. Service was really good as well. Pricey but thats expected for airport food.
Local and delicious. Didn’t want to go to a chain and I was rewarded. Amazing quiche.
Yes this is my spot to hit before getting on a flight. The people treat everybody like locals. Ive never had a bad experience or attitude even at 4:00 in the morning. Thanks guys for being there when some of us really need that cup of Jojo.
Great cappuccino! Not a bad price for airport coffee.
My flight was diverted from Phoenix to Albuquerque . The woman working the shop was the only cheerful person at the airport! We got a sandwich and a great attitude. Terrific experience!
It was pretty decent, nothing to spectacular IMHO
Staff was friendly enough but like most airport options, horrifically overpriced. Items were just okay, but Id rather bring my own snack and an empty bottle for water.
Great house brew this morn!
They have a good product however theyve been closed since December. The airlines are not serving anything onboard. Black Mesa should open, even if with a limited menu if need be, so travelers and crew members can get some refreshment.
I tried the chocolate piñon iced coffee and loved it! I turned around and bought a bag to grind at home!
This place is perfect for a quick breakfast when traveling. Not to mention their pinon coffee is some of the best Ive tasted in the state. The staff has always been friendly and respectful and has never messed up my order. This is my go to when flying out of ABQ.
Excellent products. I highly recommend the piñon coffee.
Lady working was super nice and the drink delicious!
Fast, Friendly service.
Good coffee and better croissants
Way overpriced. Spent 15 bucks on a ham sandwich and chips.
Need more selection on the menu.
Ask for the wicked coffee: its the chocolate pinon brew with cinnamon...so good!
I enjoyed my iced chai. It was freshly brewed then put over ice. Very delicious. I appreciated that they had multiple sugar free flavors of syrup. I have a diabetic family member who orders sugar free. Its nice to have other options than just vanilla. The employees were very polite and helpful. They have a quick to go case of snacks and beverages.
They open a little over 2 hrs later than posted time everyday
Latte tasted burnt.
Good coffee for an airport.
Drinks are overpriced and not mixed properly
At the airport? You probably need coffee. Nothing special to see here; nab your coffee and move along.
Decent and tasty robust coffee. Good ham and green Chile Verde Quiche although a little soggy. Price commensurate with what you pay at any airport restaurant. Employees were refreshingly nice and polite. Its outside security, Ill go again next time Im there mostly because the employees were nice to deal with.
Adequate facility with a competent staff. Gordon was invaluable in my research on resonance cascades, and the administrator generally stayed out of the way (though he tended to linger). Their antimaspectrometer is somewhat under-powered given the demands placed on it (we were often forced to run it 5% over its maximum rating), but it never failed.10/10 would science again.
Unfortunately a tragedy of covid closed during my visit, but the food is amazing
The people were plenty nice and since I was very tired I figured a cold brew would be great. The price on the sign said: $3,59 but when she rang it up it cost $4.55. Weird and not ok!The option was house blend or Chocolate and pinon. When I got the drink I was severely disapointed since such an expensive drink should taste handcrafted not like dunkin Donuts. Yuck!Once I got to PHX airport I found Cartel coffee and got a proper cold brew for around $3.00 and WOW what a difference!
Airport prices, highway robbery!
I enjoyed my visit at black mesa, thought it would be located in Nevada but no! it was actually very close to where i was visiting, while i was drinking coffee and eating donuts some nice chap with a suit came up to me and started talking to me, told me to wake up, and smell the ashes, quite weird but i didnt put a lot of bother to it, wanted to follow him but he turned a corner and vanished.
I stopped to get a coffee on my way out of town. I bought the hot cafe mocha but I couldn’t even drink it! It tasted like it had 5 cups of sugar in that drink 😩 YUCK 🤢
The turkey sandwich is a must try!
One of the better offerings in the Albuquerque Sun Port. I really appreciated that the sandwich came with fruit and veggies on the side instead of chips- its difficult to eat right sometimes when traveling, but they made it easier. It was too late in the day for coffee, but it did smell good, and they do specialty drinks, too.
This coffee shop makes every visit to Albuquerque even better. I actually look forward to sitting in the waiting area for Southwest flights in the airport terminal because Black Mesa is there. On one memorable occasion, I gave up my seat on an overbooked flight so a mother with a three-month-old baby could fly -- the next plane out was in eight hours. The staff at Black Mesa comped my espresso to reward me! The delicious food and really exceptional coffee is reward enough, though, every time I visit. Friendly, knowledgeable, highly-competent baristas make this a great experience every time.
Local, delicious coffee. I am at the airport rather frequently and I usually enjoy stopping here.
Very helpful employees, and green chili stew was so good. Very delightful meal from my trip back from Seattle. Thank you. :-) i am a AZ girl and NM lady. :-) lol and yes #DC4L :-)Keep it up!!
Decent coffee at decent prices the snacks they have arent bad either
Wonderful service. Phil attended us like royalty. Regardless of the fact that it was labor day he provided an excellent service like I havent seen in years. Will definitely be coming back
Coffees great, atmospheres great. However they seem to always run out of donuts and their ties are ridiculous indeed.
Black Mesa Coffee Company provides a good, off-beat cup of coffee. Prices are comparable to major chains, but the quality of the food and coffee was worth it.
Excellent decaf Americano....the best Ive had at a coffee shop. Excellent employees.
Love the coffee and pastries; fresh sandwiches, too. Love the staff - a real team with always a big smile and friendly service!
Having a bad day here, it seems. They werent able to be competent or polite. Likelihood of my ever going here again: precisely 0%. Nobody wants to be treated rudely while spending money in an ordinary, friendly manner at a business.
Typical airport chain coffee (better than the other one) and priced for airports.
Food is decent. The fresh fruit that comes with with the meals then to be something cheap like grapes which is funny lol
Excellent customer service but the coffee isnt the best.
Great
Staff is amazing. Great vibes and great drinks. A must when passing through the airport.
I get high airport food prices, but the breakfast burrito I had was literally the smallest breakfast burrito Ive ever had, it obviously came from the microwave and it was a premade garbage gas station burrito at best, and it was $12. I chose to eat here rather than schlotzskys and I definitely should have eaten at schlotzskys. The cashier also rushed me through the order and wasnt interested in anything other than getting me out of her face. If Im ever in ABQ airport again and need to get something to eat or drink, but you can bet I wont go anywhere near Black Mesa Coffee Company.
Chicken sandwich was very good, but of course high airport prices.
Just like I wanted it; always such pleasant staff members.
Very overpriced. Observing from afair, everyone looks like a chicken with their head cut off- there were 7 people on the floor, no one stayed planted and everyone was moving around. Multiple orders had to be re-made in the less than 10 minutes we visted. The customer service is horrible. Ros took our order at the register and did not make eye contact, was in the middle of counting cash and could honestly have cared less if there were customers there. She was also wearing gloves and went from counting cash to making drinks to moving to the lobby to mess with the milk carafes to petting a dog to fixing the trash to brewing coffee and sticking her same gloved hands in the coffee filter. Our order had to be fixed and when I went up to grab my food no one thanked me for my service or apologized for the mix up, in fact, when we stated our order was incorrect, the girl at the food station tried to argue and say that we were wrong. I worked at Starbucks for 4 years and understand what excellent service looks and should be like and I would advise against visiting this establishment.
Excellent food and service! The Southwest Turkey sandwich to dip in green chile is an amazing lunch, also their homemade Green Apple, chili danish-- yum !!
Running late to the airport I thought I was going to lose the opportunity to get my last chile fix before leaving NM. But than Black Mesa was there to save the day. Not only did they have a good cup of coffee but the green chile quiche was wonderful. Nice save Black Mesa!!!
Great service, fresh food, well-made lattes. I will walk down to these guys even if I am departing from the B gates.
The coffee and tea was fine, but the oatmeal was overpriced and almost inedible. Unless youre in a pinch (as might be the case given it is in the airport), I might look elsewhere. Expect to pay airport prices.
I find it over prized, they sold me a banana bread slice and it was spoiled...I was under the impression that their bakery was fresh, however the chai late is really good.
Our server, Philip, was was so friendly and helpful! It was refreshing to have pleasant customer service!
Never go there during a resonance cascade, worst mistake of my life
An option for best have been to a place needs to be added. I was never here.
These were great!!! Not only a great cup of coffee but also ran it to the gate for me so I would not miss my flight! Thats customer service
Service was terrible. Rude cashiers while i ordered. After the lid popped off the sweetener into my coffee spilling sugar and coffee all over me and the counter their main concern was finding my cup and sugar lid. I cleaned the mess up. No concern for me. While they did give me another cup to serve my own coffee it was not without an eye roll. Normally I would always purchase from a local establishment but never this one. It makes me see why people want to purchase from Starbucks despite the price.
Not my problem lol.
Staff is always great. Chocolate pinion is awesome
Typical airport coffee stop. I understand the doughnuts are awesome
Coffee was OK but a severe lack of donuts and the employees were wearing some ridiculous ties.
As an airport employee I have to say these guys are great on the daily. Always saying hello, and always friendly!
Ok coffee
Do you know who ate all the donuts?
This company bait and switched me!! I went to purchase two bottled waters that were priced $2.50 each, and at the register I was charged $3.50 each. After I questioned and spoke to a manager, I was told that I had lied and gotten the water from a different case. Point is they did not have their prices matched up correctly with the item and they blamed me!!! Stop falsely advertising!!! Correct yourselves if youre in the wrong! Horrible customer service!
Very friendly employees, good coffee, good fresh sandwiches and soup.
The coffee is terrible and the service was so slow and discourtious.... I realize it was at the ABQ airport but come on really ........ That bad?????
Ok coffee but employees were cussing non stop in front of my children.
Gluten Free sandwiches and soup, and GF knowledgeable staff at the ABQ Airport near gate A9. They made my day, being the only GF place I could find inside the security checkpoint.
Airport Coffee
BAd service, 15 minutes before waitress took order. Not busy at the time.
$2.50 Donuts! $30.00 a dozen! That just the tip of the iceberg!
The staff is very unfriendly and not at all helpful.. to bad there are not more options.
No i didnt visit
Time dr freeman is it really that time again
I paid $11 for a turkey sandwich that was cold with stale bread. Cashier was slow and made a $4 error on my bill, which I corrected.
Clean, friendly staff, but pricey...if u have the money, n dont mind the prices, its ok....
Ok
I stopped by and was looking at the menu. The only person there asked, “are you going through security”, and I said yes. She responded, “there’s more restaurants after” without any willingness to help. I went to the restaurant next door.
Not bad for being in the airport
Best chocolate pinon coffee anywhere!!!
Always tasty and fresh!
Tasty Coffee sold here!
The Chocolate Cappuccino Icyyy was bland and the salsa not very spicy, but the breakfast burrito was good and the Green Chile Chicken Soup was very good. The service was excellent and the staff enthusiastic and friendly. I would eat here again.
Note to future self: dont get the burrito
