Weve been coming to this location for the last 4 weeks since first getting to Albuquerque and have had nothing but a great experience until today. Ella was amazing and so nice. She helped us choose a pour over using the syphoning process and explained everything. Nathan on the other hand was extremely rude from the moment we walked in. We were trying to read the names of the coffee and he shooed us away. After Ella had already rang us up for our coffees using a gift card, Nathan shouted across the coffee shop saying that we had not paid and that he needed to ring us up. Thank goodness for Ella to explain to him that she had already taken care of it and then he proceeded to ask her HOW we paid. Really?! As a US ARMY COMBAT VETERAN I have never felt more disrespected. Seems like colored people are not accepted here. Never will be returning to Micheal Thomas!

Serious coffee. Like, I dont think Ive ever seen a place where you can get coffee prepared in whatever way you want by such a knowledgeable group of people. And they even offer classes to learn. And have a wall of every coffee bean you could want. All in a relaxing space. I got a Mikes Mocha, which had some sort of low key berry flavor that accented the chocolate. Very tasty. Next time though, Ive got to try the nitro cold brew, or the Mizudashi method coffee.

Visiting from WA, stayed 2 weeks in hotel on Yale, very happy to have this place a quick drive away. Servers could answer my questions and knew about their roast, were patient with my particulars, didn’t rush me & very friendly. Also- my latte was great each time. The morning is a great time, small space & busy but the customer base is laid back enough so it feels cozy & the hustle is fun ambiance. They have a great product selection for grinding/boiling/brewing/drinking... even wearing. Everything a traveler would need to make great coffee in their room too...

Oh man, this coffee shop offers EVERYTHING I look for in a local cafe: home roasted coffee beans, baked goods from local bakeries, and good vibes. I absolutley loved coming here and trying their different roasts! When you enter the store, you will see the wall of fresh coffee beans that they have from all over the world.

I love Michael Thomas Coffee Roasters. Ive been going for years now and their coffee is the best Ive found in Albuquerque. My only complaint is they have the worst to-go cups and lids. Every time I take a cup of coffee to go, it ends up all over me and my car. Other than that, best coffee shop in Albuquerque, hands down.

If you want a goof cup of coffee, there are several places around town to go. If you want to sit snd relax with a good book or a good friend, there are several places around town to go. However, if you want a GREAT cup of coffee AND a wonderfully relaxing place to enjoy it over a good book or with a friend (or both!) then head to Michael Thomas Coffee. Coffee selection is second to none, staff has always been great, and the little courtyard tucked away in back is a hidden oasis. I liked the tables and chairs in the courtyard more than the new picnic tables but it is still a great place to sit for awhile. Enjoy!

The coffee gets a 4 star, but the 3 star is for poor service. I love going to small local coffee shops for the coffee and atmosphere. The cafe was nice with a roaster in the back, but the service was poor. Neither of the guys working there were helpful or friendly. One example was when I asked it there was a trash can, instead of offering to take it or saying where it was they just pointed and didnt say anything.

I really like this coffee shop and I can always count on them to make a good drink for me. The location is nice and there is plenty of space to sit and relax or work. There’s also lovely seating outside which is nice even on a hot summer day. The staff is usually friendly for the most part. The prices are neither cheap nor expensive, right around or a bit above chain prices.

Review №83

Atmosphere and location are great, staff is lovely, quality of coffee is high, but the drink standards are low. I ordered a cappuccino (a 6 oz drink) and got a 12 oz latte in a to-go cup, which I guess is becoming the norm. A solid inch of milk foam floated on top, pretty badly scorched. For the price I expected more expertise. Still, its a very nice shop and house brews are decent. Dont count on top-notch espresso drinks, though. Humble, Prismatic, and Deep Space are much more consistent.

I really like Michael Thomas’ coffee. They have a nice welcoming little staff who make some really great soy lattes and hot chocolates. They tempt me with some great pastries and have a fantastic little window to local events and happenings. This is one of their two locations and is smaller than the one on Silver. It’s nicely located next to the 16 bus stop and I believe they maintain the garbage can at that stop. They’re in a odd little plaza for a group of holistic businesses. Parking can get a little weird. There’s street parking which I don’t recommend and there’s the church parking lot across the street which is a little better.(A gym stop and three Pokéstops within walking distance)

Customer service and product quality rarely match. Nearly every review notes the difference between these two important aspects of a business. Michael Thomas Coffee manages to excel at both in equal measure. Their coffee tastes fantastic. Their attention to the customer earns loyalty. Coffee shops, both established and new, could learn a lot about the magic that happens when both quality coffee and quality customer service are found in the same space.

Michael Thomas is a quiet calm place when you need a break from your day. Its a good place to work, to chill, to study or to listen to a distressed friend. Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced and well-made. The biggest criticism in both locations is parking. The Silver location has a few spots and Carlisle has zero. Parking can be hectic, then you NEED to come in and chill. But its a good place, its worth it

The best coffee roaster in Albuquerque, and quite likely, in the state of New Mexico. The coffee is good, as are the cold drinks and food, but if youre a coffee aficionado you owe it to yourself to get some of their single-source, whole-bean coffee. As a general rule, I havent bought blends in over a decade because theyre a way to hide bad beans with good beans, but Im even a fan of the Red Sea Blend here (perfect for Greek/Turkish/Arabic coffee!)
