I have been wearing contacts for nealy 30 years and really like Dr. Houghton who gives me a few options of Contacts Rx for purchasing my contact lenses, so that I get to decide when I buy the actual contacts because the feelings/touch on my eyes of the contacts and the prices are sometimes hard to compare, so he gives me some options to let me choose one that gives my eyes comfort as well as that wont hurt my budget too much.

Kennedy helped my mom pick out the cutest glasses here! She was super patient and nice to work with. She makes GREAT recommendations on glasses, if you cant choose - ask her. 🥰

Was just there to pick up contact boxes and they took an hour. I was with a new person, which is fine, but if someone is new they need to have someone trained there constantly to help them.

Great service and knowledgeable staff. I had a great conversation with Kim about the different options available to me and my family - she even took the time to explain the difference between and optometrist, an ophthalmologist, and an optician...who knew? Anyway, we will be filling our vision related prescriptions here from now on! Thanks!

I love this vision center. They got me right in and I was a walk in. The doctor is so friendly and I have full trust in him. His staff listened to my needs and helped me find cute glasses. They never tried to sell me more than what I needed. I will always go here in the future

My wife is a Walmart Employee at the South Jordan store and we have our Vision Plan through our Walmart Health Insurance. For the last year my family and I have had our glasses made at the American Fork Walmart (we used to use the Midvale or South Jordan WM Vision Centers), so I was surprised when I went in today to have a real simple fix on my drill mount frame and a couple of the employees came up with a few brilliant excuses to not fix my frame. First they explained the risk of doing anything to a drill mount frame (I said I understood, Id take the risk), then the other employee said they could not do it. (Cant force them if they dont want to). I asked if they would sell or give me a couple of drill mount plugs (these are needed to do the fix, they are the plastic pressure plugs that grasp the temple pins and keep them in place in the lenses), I would do the repair myself (my first job was in an optic shop). They said they did not have any at the shop because they did not work with them. I asked to buy a new frame, using my insurance, which covers 130.00 on frames, they said they had to charge me full price... 99.00, unless I did the whole job. Then just to top things off, they charged my son 2.00 just to put new nose pads on a frame we got at their store.I was so pissed off I had enough dark energy in me to drive all the way to the dang South Jordan Walmart! And there, they did an excellent job of cooling me down! Walked out in no time with my glasses in perfect condition and gave me three pairs of drill mount plugs FOR FREE in case of emergency. To overdo themselves, they even told us sons frame was a bit bent, they fixed it, and reminded us that we can still get a new frame since his was still under guarantee. Employee adding THEY NEVER CHARGE FOR NOSE PADS... ITS A FREE SERVICE TO CLIENTS.FIVE STARS FOR CRUDDY CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Very easy, fast, friendly service. Called at 3:20, got an appointment for 4:00, was out by 4:45 with a pair of my favorite brand of contacts and a sample of another brand to try.Other places Ive gone in the past have aggressively pushed brands on me I didnt like, and would make me try those brands before they would let me change the prescription to the ones that I already know work for me. Very frustrating. This was a much better experience. Ill definitely come here in the future.

5 starts for the doctor, not for Walmart. The eye doctor is amazing; weve been coming to him for years. But I suggest ordering your contacts elsewhere since Walmart gave me the wrong prescription when I ordered through them and the customer service was so bad that I never did get the incorrect prescription replaced. But the doctor is awesome. :)

Staff is lazy and make it known they don’t want to help. I took my son in to shop for glasses and I had no clue if he still needs youth or adult. They ignored when I asked she was playing a game on her phone. I was so irritated that we left they may have cheaper prices but I’d rather pay more for good service

The doctor is amazing. I tried to save a couple bucks and go to the Costco vision center but after paying for boxes of contacts because they didnt have my prescription in a sample, I couldnt even see! Turns out the doctor there had decided to give me a more common prescription than what I needed because it would be more convenient for me. I literally couldnt see ten feet in front of me. Came back here and the doc was amazing. Gave me a sample pair in the closest he had to my actual prescription. (.25 off) and ordered me a sample in my exact prescription to try before I bought anything. Cant say enough good things about this Dr. Walmart itself is pretty sucky to work with and the vision center staff are always pretty rude and tough to work with but the Dr is incredible and its him you pay for the appointment which I like. Walmart only gets money if you buy contacts or glasses through them.

I love the doctor!!! HOWEVER the staff member named “Kim” was soooo rude! I have gone there more times then I can count but every time she helps me she rude and doesn’t want to help. I needed a replacement pair of frames for my daughters glasses and she kept arguing with me telling me my daughter wasn’t in the system. Finally she decided to look for the frames but hmmm she couldn’t find them? Ok, well there was another man standing behind me and she said “we are busy helping other people take a seat and we will get to you whenever we can” but she said it in a rude voice. The man looked shocked. I told her nvm I’ll come back later. I’m so mad! That was the worst customer service. The only reason I go there is for the doctor because he is amazing and Lori.

Dr. Houghton is AWESOME! Im a naturally curious person and he was able to answer my questions, and didnt get irritated or seem offended like some medical professionals. It didnt hurt that he was able to correct my vision to 20/15 with eyeglasses either. He even showed me the 20/10 line when I requested out of curiosity, and no, I couldnt read the letters! Also, you dont have to buy your contacts or glasses there if you dont want to.Id highly recommended getting your prescription there, especially if youre looking for contacts that correct astigmatism. Upon exam, he can easily explain if youre a good candidate for disposable soft contact lenses for astigmatism (also called toric lenses), or if you would benefit from specialty soft lenses (expensive), or hard contacts. I happen to not be a great candidate for soft contact toric lenses because the axis of my astigmatism doesnt match up with any of the standard sizes. The location of my astigmatism, which is referred to as the axis, and is a measure between 0 - 180 degrees, was inbetween standard sizes, which typically come in axis intervals of 10 degrees (i.e. my astigmatism was at 6 degrees, and the 10 degree lens doesnt match up that well, while the 0 degree would have been worse). Dr. Houghton can order and fit specialty soft contacts, which come in 5 degree intervals, or there are always the hard contacts that can be made to the nearest degree. He doesnt sell any of the glasses or contacts, or make commissions (yes, I actually asked). Just a dedicated professional who provides excellent service at a fair price.

Have to put 1 star so you can write a review, wish I could put NO STARS. Customer service is horrible. Employees are always rude. The eye doctor himself is very nice but thats the only good thing about it. Check everthing on you reciept because they will mess it up and then make you feel like its your fault they didnt listen to you.
