Great for little ones, they got to paddle up front without adverse contribution to steering, which is largely controlled by a rudder. Gear was in great shape, guide was knowledgeable and very responsive and the bay and islands could not have been more beautiful. We saw seals, crabs, sea cucumber, water birds and a peregrine falcon
My wife, Donna, and I had a terrific few hours on the water. We were fortunate to be able get on the last tour of the season and ended up enjoying a beautiful sunny day. Our guide, Sam, was super friendly and knowledgeable about the local waterways and wildlife. An excellent trip!
My son and I did the five hour kayak with guide Matt from the Anacortes location. What a fantastic experience. Matt was super knowledgeable, he took us exploring around all the little islands. The highlight of the trip was seeing a breaching humpback whale, it was so exciting! Definitely recommend these guys 10/10 experience!
The perfect amount of adventure and relaxation for first time ocean kayaking! John was our guide and his attention to our safety, ecology, and experience was perfect for our group. I highly recommend the Quickie for those of you new to kayaking to get your paddle wet before heading out on big water!
My husband and I received a 3 hour kayak trip around Anacortes as a wedding present, the process of booking from the vendor on our registry was super easy and smooth. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to go out or a better guide to take us along! Sam was wonderful and had the perfect amount of humor and sarcasm to make everyone in the group we went out with laugh and feel comfortable. He was sure to bring us close the the islands so we could search for sea creatures, and shared with us what each creature was when it was pointed out. We can’t wait to come back and kayak again with AKT!
This was our first trip with AKT and we did an overnight to Cypress Island. We did a self catered trip as we were comfortable with our own meals and gear for the trip. The guides were great and really attentive to everyone. They were very knowledgeable of the area and were a pleasure to be around. I look forward to going on another longer trip with AKT in the future.
We did the quickie and I would say it was super fun! But short- honestly expected to see more. But despite that we saw a porpoise and a star fish and were taught about bulb kelp. Recommend the 11 tour so you miss the morning cloud/fog. The kayaks are like tandem sea kayaks so they’re legit. It’s a fun way to get on the water for sure.
There is not enough great things to say about AKT. This was our families first 3 day kayaking adventure and it could not have been better. Leading up to the trip I called many times and the staff was always kind, patient, and helpful. Our guide was incredible, and we were taken care of extremely well. We highly recommend AKT!!!!
First kayaking adventure and by far the best experience. Great weather, not too cold. Sam was our tour guide and did an amazing job. Explained everything and made sure we were comfortable and understood what we needed to do. Great sense of humor and made the experience memorable. 5 stars!
The most amazing experience!! The tour guide Sam and all the individuals who checked us in were so sweet, and I want to go back and do it again! Could not rave enough about this place.
We signed up for a 3 hour kayaking trip and had a wonderful time. The water was smooth and the views were stunning. We loved our guide, West, who has a wealth of knowledge regarding the islands, the flora and fauna, as well as the geology. We were also greeted by a playful sea lion who was leaping out of the water as he chased fish. I highly recommend AKT and will be coming back for another adventure.
My grandchildren were visiting and I wanted to take them on an experience theyd never had before. We really were happy with the entire experience. Jake was our guide and we were so happy to have him take us on this adventure. We felt safe, he was flexible and made certain we all felt comfortable in our boats. He was able to paddle to each of us and even spent some time inquiring about my grandchildrens plans for school and their interests. Thank you so much for providing this experience. We will be back.
We had an amazing time on the trip. Easy check in process and out to the water, especially as we had kayaked before. LOVED having a kayak with a rudder, a first for us, and made steering so much easier. Alex was a great guide and had so many facts for us, as well as great recommendations for the rest of our trip in the area. Our tour group was 6 and Alex did a good job of letting each couple go at their own pace and rotate between checking on on all of us. The group ahead of us was quite large through so that would be my only hesitation if the groups got too big.
We had a great group in July 2021. We saw eggyolk jellyfish and sea otters, and my whole family had a great time. The guide was helpful and patient with us. It was kid friendly. I cant wait to do it again when we come back!
I recently took the 3 day Sucia Island kayaking tour. It was amazing! I have highly recommended Anacortes kayaking tours to all my friends since my return. Our guides went beyond my expectations; knowledgable about the land and water. They truly knew their craft. I am fit but had no kayaking experience. I was challenged but never felt in over my head.Sucia Island is stunning. From the forests, coves, and rock formations, to the wildlife. We saw bald eagles, king fishers, otters, seals, sea stars, and jelly fish. Being able to paddle along the shoreline near the otters was the highlight of my trip.
We had an excellent experience out on the water with our tour guide, Melanie. Our 11 year old was on the tour with us and she was exceptionally good at showing him things in the water and along the shore. She was very patient and took time to answer his numerous questions about the sea and various marine animals. Our whole family had an excellent time!
We had so much fun, we have kayaking experience but never in an ocean style kayak. Our guide was very professional and gave us a quick lesson before launch. It was fun to learn and see the Pacific ocean life.
My wife wanted a beginners kayaking adventure for her birthday, and she wanted it in Deception Pass. I called AKT (Anacortes Kayak Tours) because it had a 1.5 hour tour of Deception pass, which was literally their beginner course tour. Not only that, but at $39 per person, it is an INSANELY affordable adventure.Serendipity.But aside from it literally being exactly what she wanted, the entire experience exceeded our expectations. It was easy, gentle, our guide Ryan was knowledgeable of the flora and fauna, and made sure to come along side all of us individually and get to know us. It was a 6 kayak group, so he had his hands full, and never once felt like he was rushed. It was a simple trip that took us out about 500 yards, around a head of land, into a kelp forest where we sat and talked about how cool bull kelp is, then another 600 yards or so to a MINE MINE MINE seagull rock island that we circled, and then back. It took about an hour and 15 minutes to complete (which is enough if you are not used to paddling that long!) and a forever memory was made.We will be coming back for a 3 hour trip next time, and the whole experience has encouraged us to delve deeper into the hobby. Thank you, AKT, and may your boats ever stay upright, and your seas be smooth. Well see you soon! (And you should too!)
Our guide provided a fantastic balance between guided instruction and allowing us to discover things for ourselves. Ive spent literally years on the water, but all of my experience has been big boats out in the deep. Kayaking, with its low speed and nearly-zero draft, is a whole new window into our world.
Knowledgable guide and very responsive staff, though the booking process was a little complicated and we had to stow our bags in the guides truck instead of at the office as planned. The food is very, very good for a kayaking trip but the portions could be a little bigger. They work well around allergies and Celiac disease. The itenary is flexible and the islands are beautiful. I reccommend AKT for anyone looking to explore the San Juans, just make sure you book a date with at least 3 people going or you will have to reschedule.
Our 5-hour kayak tour was the highlight of our visit to the area. We saw all manner of wildlife, had an amazing guide, and couldnt have asked for a better tour. The equipment is top of the line, and I highly recommend.
I had an amazing multi-day trip to the San Juan Islands ( south trail ).Rain and Mike were amazing tour guides, Megan ‘ s recipes are very tasty.I will definitely go again on this life changing trip.
Had a great experience on the Quickie tour this past weekend. Our guide, Sam, was professional and full of fun facts and jokes. The water was calm, the paddling was great, and we even got to see a jellyfish!
My daughter and I did the 1.5 hour trip. Our guide Sam did an outstanding job ensuring that we were safe and had a great experience. We explored the bay, looked for marine life and learned about Puget Sound area and the pacific coast. Sam was knowledgeable and tailored the trip to our needs. We highly recommend this experience without reservations. It was fun and relaxing.
Our 3 hour kayak tour was awesome! We took a few minutes to gear up in our lifejackets and kayak skirts and then we paired up and got in our tandem kayaks. I was a little nervous but the foot pedal operated rudder makes steering a breeze and though it is sea kayaking the waves were mild. We were lucky enough to spot seals, porpoise, a bald eagle and we even made a rare river otter sighting. Our guide was cheerful, kind, and knowledgeable. She made sure to paddle along each of our boats to chat and answer questions throughout the tour. What a cool way to experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Thumbs up!
The bioluminescence tour was amazing. The guides were engaging, fun, and very knowledgeable when asked questions about the area and wildlife.I was floored by the bioluminescence event. It was so beautiful seeing the green lights of the phytoplankton under the stars. Truly fantastic.
I recently went on a paddle trip with 2 of your guides Ian and Alex. I dont know how you refer to them, maybe adventurers extraordanaire, water angels, or simply human-shaped life preservers. Whatever you call them I have to impart how much work and effort they put in to make our recent trip so very special. They overcame several unexpected mishaps with indomitable spirit and amazing panache. They did this despite setbacks that occurred through circumstances that were no fault of their own. Any institution or company should thank their lucky stars to have such excellent people working for them, catering to their customers, and keeping everyone safe through a tumultuous climate that can be unforgiving. I salute their efforts and have ultimate respect for the services they provide to complete strangers, allowing us a glimpse of the special beauty of the San Juan Islands. Cheers!
Really terrible and nothing like described. You go around one island - see nothing, the tour guide barely speaks to you and looks like he doesnt want to be there or have anything to do with you. On top of it - if you are single, you pay more. Some cant help it if they want to have an adventure and are on their own, but here you get charged even more to have it. All in all would not recommend and found it to be a rip off.
Fantastic day tour-- highly recommend. Our guide, Ian, was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. A great way to spend the day!
We did the 3 hour kayak tour from Anacortes. Our guide, West, was super friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. We got to see a porpoise and several harbor seals. As a special treat, at the end West walked with us over to another beach where we got to see Anacortes special visitor, an elephant seal named Elsie Mae. Overall, my friends and I had a fantastic experience, and I definitely recommend Anacortes Kayak Tours!
Friendly staff and professional tour. We felt safe having someone to guide us through all the different currents AND show us the local wildlife. We had a great time and really enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon! Thanks!
Great 3-hour trip around Burrows Island with Ian. Would definitely go again!
We did the 4 day, fully catered tour. It was worth every penny! The food was so good. Our guide, Sam, was knowledgeable and fun. We kayaked about 30 miles and learned a lot about the surrounding area from him. I would also credit him as a berry expert. He had a delightful way of relating to each person on the trip. It felt like he genuinely enjoyed the people in the group which added to the fun. He could make us all laugh, teach us interesting facts, and give directives when needed. There was one person who got sick on the trip and I think he responded to the situation with the right calls at the right time. I could tell he was doing things to keep us safe with out being super obvious or drawing attention to himself - if we wanted to be in la la land the whole time he could have accommodated that. I had never paid this much money for a camping experience before and so I came in with high expectations, my expectations were exceeded.Something that would have made our experience better would be help getting short-transportation to and from the start and end points. We flew in from Indiana and rental cars in Seattle were all snatched up weeks in advance. The taxi service in Anacortes was unavailable and when I checked Uber there was literally only ONE Uber in the area so we had to have him take our group in two separate rides. If the Uber hadnt worked out I dont know how we would have gotten there. It is such a small town that there is not as much business as a big city and so the limited options makes it harder to navigate for an out-of-town group. Also at the end of the trip it would have been nice to have a ride back to the store so we could buy souvenirs. We had to come back a shorter way to save time because one of our group members was sick that morning and so we ended the trip at a secondary landing spot which was out in the open and was fine since the weather was nice but it did feel a bit like we were dumped out. Again, being from out of town this created a little more stress logistically. On the whole, I would definitely do this again!
Amazing time, saw lots of wildlife and had fun hiking the little island we boated to.Thank you!
Harass disabled people. Lousy human beings. You should have stopped.
We did a 3 hour tour there with Thor as our guide. Everything about it from start to finish was absolutely amazing. We ended up basically having a private guided tour with him. We called a few hours before on our way there to make reservations and the staff in the office was very nice and accommodating. Check in was fast and easy with the help of the staff. We met our guide and since it was just 2 of us after assessing our ability, he gave us the quick crash course on safety and paddling. He gave us the general overview of the tour, but said he would tailor it to what we want to do since it was a small group. He was extremely helpful with tips and tricks to paddle more efficiently and showed us a few different techniques. I a. Not sure exactly what time we hot in, but I think our time went over a bit and he was very nice and even offered to let us paddle around the marina more if we wanted. I would reccomend this to anyone looking for a guided or even if your more advanced, it was less like a guided tour than just paddling with a very knowledgeable friend. Thank you guys for everything! We will be back soon!!!
Signed up for rock climbing and kayaking and was pleased with communication setting up the tour, and while handling same day travel SNAFUsMelanie was a sweet and competent tour guide, gathering her flock for a moderately strenuous 7mile tour of tidal areas around a few islands. She had us comfortable in our gear and sea kayaks in short order, and was helpful with clothing and setting goals for our group. We had three kids (12,14,18) in one kayak and two parents in the other. We were able to stop 2/3rds of the way thru the tour to walk on a rocky beach and get a snack. They offer dry tops and require you to wear a life jacket and a spray skirt which fits onto the kayak, so you don’t get wet. We were glad to strip off some layers at the stop because you get humid quickly when conditions get warmer.Try to get a tour just before or after low tide, since there is a lot more to see, but you can still see plenty more just under the surface. I was glad I brought binocs and a hat:Enjoy!
Did the 6:30 to 9:30 pm ‘Sunset & Bioluminescence Special’ kayak tour from Bowman Bay on Sep 20 2020. We had to meet at 4399 Bowman Bay Rd at 6pm. My GPS took me to the parking area near the campground! Took a u-turn & followed the road back to the first stop sign and took a right turn. This took us ~100 yards into the main parking lot. You can see the Kayak Shack and kayaks lined up. You will need a ‘Discover pass’ to park. Washrooms available on site. The tour was very well organized and our guides Mike, Jake and Katy did a great job! Kudos to the team! Clear instructions were given & the right expectations were set before we head out as a large pod of kayakers. They shared some fun facts about the wildlife we came across. We saw a whole bunch of porpoises, a mother lode of bull kelp and a seal. The bioluminescent phytoplankton were magical! Overall a great experience! Just have your nav/map downloaded before you head there- a lot of places do not have network coverage & most parking spots in the area including deception pass do require a discover pass. I highly recommend joining this group for your next kayaking adventure.
We had such a fantastic time with AKT! This was our first time ever kayaking and it went as smooth as good be. The evening was perfect with the sun setting toward the end of our trip, the water was calm, and we saw a lot of wildlife out there. James, our tour guide, was friendly and very informative. We left Flounder Bay, circled around Burrows Island, came up against the edges of Young Island, headed out into Burrows Bay a bit, then back to the marina. We spent 3-4 hours out there. Along the journey we passed a light house, held a jellyfish, and spotted many other animals. This really could not have been more perfect than it was. Thanks much AKT,!
We were able to create our own experience with our amazing guide(Ryan!). The paddling was so much fun for our group, and the food was amazing. We camped at some beautiful spots on the islands, and had some time to relax and do some hiking. We saw lots of wildlife, and beautiful sunsets. The weather was perfect and we were very well taken care of. I think we will be making this an annual event. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would!
My family of 4 did the 3-hour, 4:30 PM kayak tour of out Anacortes, and it was beautiful! Our guide Ryan was fantastic. Easy-going, knowledgeable, and very attuned to the water throughout the trip, so that he could ensure we didnt get into any spots that could cause issues. As far as logistics....they provide a covering so that water doesnt splash onto your legs and feet (though of course you have to be prepared for some possible water), which is very nice, as we didnt have that on a different recent kayak rental elsewhere. From our prior experience, Id learned to bring a small backpack with water and a snack, chapstick etc. but to bring a small plastic bag (I just used a trash bag) to avoid the backpack getting wet on the bottom of the kayak...though in this case, while nice for peace of mind, wasnt totally necessary due to the covering they provided. The life vest had a chest zippered pocket which I used to put my phone in (in a baggie) which was perfect for having handy for photos. (The camera will get wet/smudged so it was helpful to also have a couple tissues to wipe it clean with.)All in all, it was a beautiful day out on the water and learning some things from Ryan along the way. I would have never dared go where we did on our own due to our limited open-water experience, so this was a great way to go. The owner answered the phone when Id originally called to inquire about best reservation times/currents for a family with kids, and she was so helpful and friendly, as well as when we checked in for our kayak tour. Wed definitely do another tour with this company again, and recommend them!
My sister and I had a fantastic weekend trip with Anacortes Kayak Tours. Our guide, Katie, was wonderful! She made us comfortable immediately and was so friendly and helpful! The trip was exciting and relaxing by turns and we loved Cypress Island! I would not hesitate to recommend this company and this trip to everyone and anyone! Cant wait to do it again!
This is the third time I have been on a kayak tour with KT. They are OUTSTANDING. I took my 6 year old grandson, Declan, and his Mom. Sam was our guide and we were on a 3 hour tour. Sam was outstanding. He explained the fundamentals of kayaking, how to wear the life vest t and spray skirt, and the currents and safety procedures very clearly. He talked about the animals we saw to include porpoises, seals, birds, and other fish. We visited an island, and had a wonderful tour of the bay. Sam was an outstanding guide. I highly recommend AKT for their professionalism, safety orientation, and having a wonderful time in a nature type environment!
Excellent tour, customer service and guide.
Amazing and Incredible experience. They had all the gear and such a wonderful guide and just made the trip so wonderful. They knew all the great places to go and had all the gear and knowledge to get us there safely even during COVID! This trip was amazing for me son during this difficult time and I am so thankful that they were still running and running safely during this tough time. I cant wait to go again!
We went on a 3hr tour this afternoon with Matt. He was super knowledgeable and very helpful. This was our first trip on the water and he made us feel at ease. Matt was quick to point out various wild life and was knowledgeable about all the critters... Hes not to hard on the eyes either. Thanks Matt and team for being professional and making this a wonderful day!!We will definitely be back!
When your heart explodes with joy ... I took my 18, 13 and 10 year-old boys on the 3 hr kayak tour. So much fun to make this memory with my Senior, the 13 year-old had a blast, and finally my 10 year-old ... my anxious little worried soul. As a boy mom you try to find balance for your little men accepting man pride is a thing and Mom love only extends its arms so far to gently nudge him into his uncomfortable and terrifying unknowns. This week he and I went kayaking with his brothers off the coast of Anacortes, WA. To say he was terrified is an understatement ... this photo captures a victory. Our guide, West, immediately took to B showing him the beautifully spiritual and calming wonders of Mother Nature instead of the unknowns. He made sure we saw a giant group of porpoises along with everything else! My little guy was relaxed, I could literally feel the anxiety leave him because it left me. “Mom, I really like this. I’m not scared.” If your anxious child says this even once it’s like a million reassurances that you’re doing okay with this Mom gig. ❤️ #boymom #pnwlife #pnwadventures #sassyladyporch Anacortes Kayak Tours
Our family of 4 went on the quickie tour out of Bowman Bay with Mike as our guide. We had the best time. Scenery was breathtaking. Our daughters loved every minute. He was a great tour guide. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and made our tour the best it could be. We want to book a longer tour when we are back in the area.
Brilliant day! Had James as our leader and was impressed with his knowledge of marine life and loved that he felt like an old friend we were catching up with. Kayaks and equipment were in great shape (the best we’ve ever been on.) parking was easy and the woman in the office was fantastic. We feel quite fit and found the kayak to be tiring and energizing. Would def visit again if in the area.
We had a blast! We learned many new things while paddling regarding the islands, the wildlife and the area in general . We had a nice small tour group and could hear our guide perfectly. We saw porpoises, jellyfish and seals. One seal was eating an octopus in the water; now, thats something you dont see every day! It was a wonderful experience! Thanks Sam and Anacortes Kayak Tours!
Took the 3 hour tour using the 3 person kayak and had a wonderful time! Sam was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable and personable. Definitely would recommend this tour if youre in the area. Had a nice dinner in town at Adrift afterwards.
Awesome guides! We had a great time!
A Memorable Day at Bowman BayMy 6-year-old grandson, Declan, and I did the 1 1/2-hour family tour at Bowman Bay (Deception Pass). It was an outstanding time and Katie, our guide, made the time very memorable. Katie shared her knowledge of the sea life, birds, and showed us how to eat kelp. Declan really liked eating the kelp and I did too. I wanted my grandson to have a positive, enjoyable first experience kayaking, and Katie made that happen. I think Declan probably did most of the talking but his talking was an indication of how much he (and I) enjoyed our time. Katie is an outstanding guide. This is my second trip with AKT and I highly and enthusiastically recommend these trips. I plan to return with Declan for a three-hour trip out of Skyline. Thank you for a great time!
Eight friends and I went on an overnight, self-catered trip. As the organizer, I liked that the owners reached out to me via email and phone to tell me about what to expect, and to verify I had all of my questions answered. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The locations were beautiful. My only feedback is that that two guides were probably not necessary for experienced outdoorspeople like us, which maybe would have made it a bit cheaper. ($300 seems a bit steep for an overnight.) Overall I would definitely recommend this company. It was a great experience.
Our guide Matt K. Was great. He was a Great source of knowledge about the waterways, history of the islands and the wildlife. We saw some harbor seals and a bald eagle. Fun time!
I went on the 3 hour tour with a Ryan today and had a great time! I highly recommend this company. We saw seals and a bald eagle, and soak in the great views. I also learned about reading the water currents, kayaking maneuvers, and various geological features which really made the trip unique for me. Mostly I really enjoyed his company and felt like I was kayaking with an old friend, which made it that much more enjoyable. One tip, to see the most on your trip you might want to plan to go during the low tide.
My 18 year old daughter and I went on the 5 hour tour and had a great time. We saw lots of adorable harbor seals, an elephant seal, a porpoise, a light house, an eagle and many birds. It was our first time sea kayaking and our guide, Katie, made it easy and enjoyable. I would definitely do it again.
I had a wonderful time exploring Deceptions Pass by kayak last week! Our guide Jake was fun to talk with and very knowledgeable. We had a blast and will be back again. Cant recommend enough!! :)
Most excellent kayak trip! We did the sunset and bioluminescence tour. The weather was perfect, the sunset vibrant, the biolum magnificent, and all the guides were really great, especially Nicki. Would definitely return again! :)
Even though this was my first time kayaking I decided to jump right to the full day tour...and I don’t regret it! Sam our guide was awesome and knowledgeable about anything and everything and made sure everyone was safe but also having a great time! We even got to see a seal eating an octopus which was pretty cool! I would definitely recommend you try out these guys:))
I enjoyed the tour so much! We had a lot of fun. Thanks for the great customer experience. The only thing Id like to change probably is the proportion of gusts to guide. During our trip, we were 12 people (with 3 kids) and only one guide.
Full day tour with guide Matt was incredible. Small group with my kids and I plus one other couple. The perfect weather and tides didn’t hurt but even without would be worth it. Saw seals, porpoises, and a large number of intertidal invertebrates. Beautiful scenery and knowledgeable guide made for an excellent trip. Owner Megan seemed quite frazzled but once we were on the water all was great.
We had an amazing 5 hours on the water. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful. We felt safe while having lots of fun. They helped us learn about the area as well as relax. The price was certainly fair. We plan to go again, next time for a night paddle
My boyfriend, another couple and I had a fantastic time. It was absolutely a wonderful experience to kayak on the Puget Sound . We were on Bowman Bay and the waters were very calm. Our guide Nikki was great, very patient and knowledgeable. We signed up for the 1.5hr excursion and it was just right for one who hasnt done much kayaking because your arms will get a bit tired. lol The rate is fair and worth every penny.
We had a wonderful afternoon paddling around Anacortes! Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and made our time enjoyable! We saw all sorts of wildlife and had the opportunity to take lots of pictures so we can remember our day out on the water for years to come. Highly recommend this company!!!
Great experience with AKT! Went on an impromptu 3 hour tour with a friend of mine from out of town. Matt was our guide and he took us to Burrows island where we were able to walk around and check out the old light house and incredible views!I would definitely recommend taking a tour whether youre visiting or a local resident. The staff is friendly and the equipment is great!
Great 3 hour tour
Great time! We just did the short tour and James made it wonderful. Buying the tickets with Megan was great and easy. Our tour was an awesome experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
We had an awesome experience at Anacortes Kayak Tours. They were super knowledgable and attentive. We rented a kayak for an overnight camping trip and the staff took a lot of time reviewing our plans and checking the forecasts for us. Definitely will be using AKT again.
Can’t say enough good things about this company. Megan was a phenomenal communicator. Helped me plan an awesome bachelor party during COVID. Mike was an amazing guide. Was able to put together a trip for us that was within the skill level of our group and amazing! You WONT be disappointed.
From start to finish Megan and staff were very informative, quick to respond, and fair. We had to reschedule due to weather and they were able to accommodate our tour the following day and issued a refund at the cheaper rate. Our guide Shaun was great in detail and we were able to see some awesome views on a beautiful day.
We had a wonderful time on our 3 hour guided tour. Alex was extremely knowledgeable and a great teacher. It was very windy the morning of our trip, and Megan was great ensuring that the wind died down so our trip would be enjoyable and to make sure we had a good experience. If you’re in Anacortes this would definitely be a great way to spend your time!
Wouldnt recommend the Anacortes Kayak Tours or bioluminescent trip. Watching the sunset part was cool but confused why we just stayed in one place for what must have been over an hour. We left right before the sun set and didnt go far out. We had just left the beach 30 minutes prior.Maybe the day trips are better or maybe the guides were tired being the last trip of the day??? I dont know.
Knowledgeable and friendly guides
We had a great time on our trip with Anacortes Kayak Tours. The location is unbeatable. We saw Harbor Porpoise, seals, Bald Eagles, and a bunch of other interesting wildlife. Megan was a wonderful guide. I highly recommend having a high school science teacher as your guide. She was knowledgeable, fun and professional.
Did the three hour tour, but with no Gilligan-like problems. Our guide was Matt, who was super professional and wrangled feuding, insolent kids and parents Incapable of paddling in a straight line with aplomb. The equipment was good quality, as well. I will be back to try the five hour tour.
We had a fabulous trip. The staff were great. Tammy at the front desk was really nice and helpful. Our tour guide Alex was phenomenal. He was very knowledgeable and very experienced. Highly recommend to anyone.
We had a lovely 3-hr kayak session with Sam. Learned some interesting natural history about N Puget Sound. Very relaxing paddle!
Im so glad I chose Anacortes kayak tour for my first time kayaking experience. My instructor was Alex and he was literally the best! My friend and I enjoyed our kayak experience a lot, thanks to Alex. He was super fun to hang with and had a lot of patience since we kept making mistakes. If you ever go to Seattle or Anacortes, you MUST book a tour with Anacortes Kayak Tour Company and if possible, ask for ALEX to be your instructor. You wont regret one bit! I promise!!
My wife and I recently did a 3hr tour with AKT. It was an amazing time! We basically just showed up about 2hrs prior to a tour as we wanted to know how many other were on the tour before booking, because, you know, COVID. We were pleasantly surprised that only one other couple was signed up, so we signed up too. Purchasing the tickets and checking in was super easy and the guy helping us was super friendly, excited, and professional. He even offered some places to check out in town while we waited for the tour. The gear they had us use all seemed very clean and in good working order, so no complaints. Our guide Ryan helped us ensure our gear was on correctly and then showed us the map of where we would go, then we headed to the boats. The boats were very nice and once we boarded Ryan helped to make sure we knew what we were doing and were comfortable. Then we set off!On the paddle Ryan helped teach us about how to paddle through the currents and about some of the local ecology and wildlife. We saw a few eagles, a bunch of seals, and some porpoises! Ryan did a good job keeping us all together and being a small fast group we were able to explore a little farther than maybe a larger slower group would have.Overall, the entire experience was excellent and we are so happy we decided to go on the tour. Hopefully we can go back sometime and do a full day or even multi-day tour! Highly recommend! The San Juans are super beautiful to paddle in!
We had a great time on the short trip from Bowman Bay. Our guide, Conrad, showed us some cool sea caves and seals and made sure everyone was engaged and comfortable with the pace. He also had some great recommendations for dinner afterwards! The kayaks were super stable and easy to handle. Definitely a great intro to sea kayaking for the inexperienced, and a nice trip length for all fitness levels!
What a pleasure and great experience all round. Professional, lots of nice boats many new. I have some experience kayaking and the guide and company did a great job. I highly recommend them and look forward to using them again.
Excellent guided 3 hour trip mix of pleasure, learning and work out on single kayak. Sam is very good in guiding and he always thrive to make the trip every penny worth. Lost the fear of moderate tidal currents that comes only when boats pass near by and it is easy. Great place to learn and enjoy at the same time and these are real practical learnings .Althogh I didn’t see much sealife but enjoyed it a lot in nature . Anacortes area is so cool and lovely . I have seen lot of deers near kayaking office
Great Adventure! 3 day/2 night Kayak camping excursion. Max and Sam were fantastic guides and were very knowledgeable about the sea life, birds and well just about everything! Not a camper or swimmer, but felt very safe and comfortable the entire time! The food that was prepared was so very good. Would recommend this trip to anyone!
If you’re around Anacortes with some time to kill I would highly recommend a kayak tour with them. We booked a 1.5 hour kayak tour and it was the best time we had on our short getaway to Whidbey Island. Our guide James was very helpful, knowledgeable and witty. The tour is well organized and you’ll see some beautiful bits of nature and wildlife.
We had the most memorable trip!! Wed definitely do the whole four days again, with the same company and the same guide. The company was extremely responsive, calling several times before the trip to provide information and clarification. They provided clean gear and delicious food! Our guide James was incredibly knowledgeable about the currents, winds, and sea life. He was very considerate of each group member, and he consistently kept the morale high. We cant thank him enough for his work and his friendship. We highly recommend the experience!
On a whim we booked the bioluminsence kayak tour and are we glad we did. We started by paddling out and watching the sunset, while harbor porpoises were visible, saw some harbor seals and then paddled out to some coves where when it was dark enough we saw the magical bioluminsence. To cap it off we could see so many brillinat stars incuding the Milky Way.Our daughter heads off to college on Sunday and this trip was a summer highlight for sure.At first grandma wasnt too sure about the sea kayaks and asked how do I let you talk me into these things but as we were ending our night she said boy am I glad you talked me into this - what an amazing night. Dont forget your camera in a waterproof pouch. Kicking myself for omitting that so no photos - guess we will have to do it again sometime.!
Tasha, our guide shared her love of kayaking by giving us a great 3-hour tour. We saw harbour porpoise, seals and a myriad of sea birds. Tasha has a love and great knowledge of birds. A memorable time.
