Over the years my friends and I have rented kayaks from Blue Otter Outfitters several times for our annual five day paddle around the San Juan Islands. It is one of our big highlights each year. Now the rest of our crew have all purchased their own kayaks but me. We have found their prices to be competitive, the equipment to be very good, and their service first rate. And Megan is great! Not once in all this time have we had one issue. I look forward to my next opportunity to visit Blue Otter Outfitters because it means days of fun and adventure await.

How disappointing to arrive at Bowman Bay and be told the really nice sea kayaks pictured on the web page are only available for rental with a guide on a guided tour. The web page clearly lists a Sea kayak is available to rent for a daily rental. We have complied with the requirements listed on the web site, with our the a three day course in kayak safety taken at Deception Pass. We were repeatably told by the attendant a Sea kayak was not an option for a day rental. Our only option for the day was a sit on top seat plastic kayak. Our six mile paddle along the coast with friends would have been much more enjoyable if we had the option of renting a quality sea kayak. Pass this company up if you are looking for a day trip sea kayak rental. The web page advertises no need to transport your kayak when you can rent from Blue Otter Misleading Advertising

Wonderful SUP rental experience at the Cranberry Lake location. Knowledgeable staff and great service. Our family had a blast!

Great experience & fair prices as far as kayak rentals go. They actually launch you out of Bowman Bay down by Deception Pass State Park. Saw a bunch of different birds, cool rock formations & about a half dozen seals. The wave conditions were perfect as well. The staff running the rentals were very nice & helpful too.

I did a kayak lesson with Blue Otter, it was great! Alex taught me about how to navigate currents and tides at Deception Pass. I feel a lot more confident now paddling through currents, I learned more advanced strokes, and we practiced rescues a bit too. It was a lot of fun and Alex is a great instructor!

Tasha was a great guide around the islands, so much fun.

Worst place to rent from definitely dont recommend way over priced kayaks are not great and no help getting down to water ( its a far walk ) ! Find someone else to rent from you wont regret it
