I have good experiences when I come here from VA! This time we purchased a really great air mattress for camping and a solar powered charger! Im loving the charger and the air mattress was great, too. The prices were good for us.The previous time my husband and I bought a soccer goal and soccer balls, badminton set and some athletic wear -all of which has been used and enjoyed!We definitely enjoy making our trip from VA to find our sports and camping items here.

I come here mostly for fishing supplies. They have the largest selection of lures during fishing season, compared to other big box stores locally.They carry some brands that others don’t have which is cool and makes it easier than ordering online.The store is clean and well lit. The employees are nice and helpful.The fishing section can be low on lures during the off-season. It’s a place I can find lures that are usually sold out at other stores.

There is no HBCU fan based clothing available and when I asked the staff about the lack thereof, I was flatly told it was no longer on the sales floor bc it was not selling well. They only carry UNC, DUKE, and NC STATE apparel 🙄...the Apex location of Academy Sports needs to do better 💯

Got the parts for a deer feeder I was looking for. My second time in the store. I didnt have time to browse as I was on lunch break. Clean, well organized store. Not convenient to where I live, but not far out of the way to get what I needed.

I had a great experience at Academy sports. The staff were very friendly and were very willing to help. The prices were very reasonable and they has a great selection.I went to buy tennis balls and related items, found them at a very competitive price when comparing online prices.This will be my choice for sporting goods.

This will be my first issue with this store since purchasing my 1st pair of Reeboks for my wife a year ago. Since then Ive purchased baseball & Football equipment, camping equipment, clothing and sports shoes. The staff has always been welcoming and very helpful when I needed advise on certain camping equipment. But the last pair of Nikes I purchased from this store after several uses I notice that the right insoles started forming a lump that would have my feet and my leg hurting at the end of the day. So I decided to go to Academy and exchange the shoes for the same ones(I did not asking for money back) so the gentleman ( Rob ) asked for the receipt and reason for the exchange, so explained to him that the show, after several wears a bump formed on the right side insole underneath my plantar.He then looked at the receipt and quickly informed me that the 60 days return policy expired. I then asked him what was the date on the receipt, he said the date was 5/03/2.021. So I was 2 weeks pass the 60 days return policy store policy. So I asked him if he could explain the situation to the store manager and maybe they could override it, he then informed me that he was the manager and that this was nothing he could do. I told him that for being two weeks late I was going to lose out on $110 and that I wasnt asking for my money back, that all I wanted was to exchange it for the same ones...And this is when people forget about their PROFESSIONALISM, MORALS AND RESPECT for others. ROB (THE MANAGER) TELLS ME THAT COULDNT OVERRIDE THE EXCHANGE BECAUSE HE DIDNT KNOW WHETHER OR NOT I WAS TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT THE SHOE. I mean really? that was totally UNCALLED for and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL OF ROB(THE STORE MANAGER) to doubt or question my honesty, normally I would stand my grounds and debate this type of behavior and verbal insults but it wasnt worth it. So now Ill be contacting headquarters to see if they could override the 2weeks and I can get my exchange. Normally I give this location an excellent review and never had any issues with their items, but this incident really crossed the line.

This place is awesome. Everything you could need for outdoors, they have it. Was pleasantly surprised by their grilling section, did not expect to see Mear Church brands there.

I always love the store. When we go to the beach each year, its become a habit for me to stop by this particular academy and buy stuff I know very well I dont need. But its a huge store, has a lot of selection, and the prices are good.

I really like this place. I think their prices are always reasonable and they are well stocked. When the pandemic hit, I was able to get all my gym equipment at reasonable prices here. When my son started Scouts, I was able to get all of his camping gear here, much of it at prices less than even Walmart. I really liked that they have their own brand of tents, sleeping bags, and other camping accessories. I find myself going here at least once a week. Just as much as the grocery store.

Disrespectful in the gun department. Attitude issues. Haven’t experienced this is other Academy stores. Seems to be specific to Apex.

I bought two kayaks today on a whim. They were over 100$ cheaper than DSG. I had no clue how ratchet straps worked, so Dennis and Ron swooped in and saved the day. Along with a very helpful customer who saw us struggling and taught us a new trick. Needless to say I am very pleased with my experience here. I even opened a credit card and that’s out of my norm. Tomorrow I will test the waters.

Great store for fishing items. Also found some great buys on koozie and bench cushions. Always looking forward to being on this side of town so I can pop in.

Well stocked with most everything for outdoors. Didnt have the ammo I was looking for, but its rare to find it anywhere locally.

They have a variety of choices for footwear,They accept coupon from concurrent store.Very clean, spacious and organized. The Employees are friendly and helpful.Very good sale price for Nike footwear today.The cashier was friendly. She gave us advices for next time purchase, where to find coupons, and when the sales are going.Very big parking with many spaces.

All of the sales associates were very attentive to my request. And what a extremely large selection of hand guns. Great prices and selection all in the same place. The store is well organized.

Great place for sports, clothing, and hunting equipment, lately they have join the van wagon of controlling the sales of ammunition which doesnt separates them from small shops on that front, other than that they have a great variety of shoes, soccer cleats etc.

Terrible online order system! DONT order their product online!Ordered on their website for their promotional price and choose store pick up because its cheaper than Amazons discount price. Order processed and showed ready for pick up next day.But next day got email said order is canceled due to out of stock! Its also makes me miss Amazons discount price!

There are most of outdoor sport collections. In common clothes are special made for sports so bit expensive. I found some clearance sections where some items are very cheap like soccer shoes. They were about $10. Adjusent to Costco so location is good.

Very busy today but thanks to the young man in the fishing area for helping us find what we needed.. and thank you for having almost all pines open so the wait was not that bad .

We were in the store for over an hour and never asked if we needed help, which would have made our trip easier, quicker and more enjoyable. The selection of womens basketball shoes....absolutely ZERO! We tried to pick from the 6 styles they had for youth, and that was a no go as well. I had high expectations for this store, but was quite disappointed. The one bright spot was the girls basketball shorts for a good price.

I wont be using their online ordering system ever again. They arent capable of keeping inventory current. I went into the store and was looking at bikes they had in stock. After looking around at other stores we decided to order online from them so we could pick up in store. Ordered online and had to wait a week for the bike to come in, unassembled and come to find out they never updated their inventory so it showed -2 bikes when they had 3 in store. Dont use online unless you want to wait for things to be ordered. Rarely can you pick up same day even if you know they have it in stock.

Decent prices, cashier was a little bit snippy, but who cares?

Tried to return a pair of Merrill boots and got shut down for no receipt, they had been worn by someone before I bought them. It was more than sixty days since purchase. They have lots of reasons not to even give you store credit. That was all I wanted. Won’t ever shop there again. REI way better!!!

This review is about the Apex N.C. store only. I’ve never had a bad experience in any others that I’ve visited.I’m very aware that we are in an ammo shortage but while browsing their website they showed Winchester 124 grain 9mm in stock. I thought it must be a mistake but checked with the store and verified that they indeed have some in stock.I drove an hour and a half and checked the website just before walking in and sure enough it still showed in stock. I went inside to make my purchase and was greeted by a very condescending female that they did not have any in stock. I told her that the website showed it in stock and that I have verified that there was inventory available and she got even more arrogant and stated, and I quote, “Our ammunition inventory is never right on the website” and that “ We have to reserve a box of ammunition for every gun we sale”.That may be the case but when I call to check on it before making a three hour round trip tell me then, not in the store after I make the drive. And you can leave your bad attitude at home. I’m more upset at the attitude than no ammo.

Generally the store was outstanding but the clerk working at the firearms counter was rude and not aware of his department. When asked about the empty firearms display cases and racks his reply was We have plenty of firearms. In a very a abrupt and curt manner.

Probably the best big box sports store around. Their staff are helpful and their prices are good.

Didnt have exactly what I was looking for but did have an alternative that fit the requirement. Also found some new shoes that I knew I needed but was expecting to have to buy on line.

Stopped in to look at purchasing firearms. Man behind the counter was very rude and incredibly sexist. Ive owned firearms for most of my life and informed him so. However, he felt the need to tell me I could not handle the pistol I had intended to purchase and told me I needed to go to a flea market and get an old beat up pump shotgun because I wouldnt have to learn to aim it.I was appalled at his behavior and was at a loss for words. I will never shop here again.

Academy always has good selections off quality stuff

Overall a very good store. I give it 4/5 because we went there looking for ladies trail running shoes and they dont have any selection at all. Good for the majority of normal outdoor/exercise goods, but for specialty items maybe not so much.

Went there in person and the place was great, I called over the phone to ask a question and the wait was long but thats fine its Dec but when someone did pick up he was rude and I asked a question and before I was done asking he put me on hold to go check. So he comes back on the phone and I try finishing my request and he gives me an attitude and again puts me on hold. I had one more question and all he said was its a personal preference thats it. No explication. So ended up not buying anything there after that.

Haven’t shopped in store, but I’ve ordered online several times and it’s great that you see real time inventory numbers. Order pickup is super easy and fast. And some good prices on ammo.

I was in the store today. And two young men were walking around with no mask! I asked about the policy. So the store is more worried about making money than the safety of other! Wow I will not be going back there ever!!! And I plan on sharing this with everyone I know. How can people be so selfish 😞

Great place! I was able to snag a last minute gift. They brought it out to my car. Very Covid-19 friendly.

They didn’t have what I was looking to buy. The store is nice. Greeter at the door was new and didn’t really know the store layout.

Be aware and call first if you are doing curb side pickup. Ordered a bike. Price looked great and included assembly, sounds awesome right? Got an email Tuesday that it was ready, so I emptied out the trunk and loaded the kids in the van and drove across town to pick it up. Arrived and checked in online. Eventually someone came out with another order and asked what I was waiting on and went to check for me. Then another employee came out to tell me the bike assembly guys were out on lunch, but I was next on the list and they would call. But to expect at least an hour and a half. Obviously my infant was not going to wait in the car another hour and a half so we drove back across town. Never got a call. Called them back today and the assemblers might be back at work Friday and I should call Friday morning. Really? I am super grateful for having it assembled, but I cant keep calling or driving everyday. Even assembling myself Amazon would have been a quicker process at this point. I guess the good news is that if they dont get it done by next week they will cancel my order.

I walked into the Apex NC store this morning.. There was a gentleman in the foyer who I guess was supposed to be a statue because he was silent. No greeting or welcome at all. I went around the whole store... saw more than a handful of blue shirts which are the academy employee ones. No one said good morning. No one said may I help you find something or is there something you are looking for. The only person that finally spoke to me was the statue gentleman in the foyer of the store, and he spoke on my exit.

Went for ammo, was scoffed at for asking for 9mm during a pandemic when they are currently in high demand and out of stock. Guess Ill find it elsewhere.

Overall selection is always good... BUT, highly concerned that associates DO NOT enforce their mask policy. The mask policy is clearly stated at the front of the entry, but nearly 1 in every 3 shoppers walked around the store WITHOUT masks, coughing and talking on things and places they pass by. This does not prevent the spread. Someone needs to do something, and it needs to start with the air management and enforcement. HIGHLY disappointed and irritated by the total disregard for safety, common sense, and respect for others. This is a STATE mandate.
