I have foot issues, and finding shoes is usually a horrible process for me. However, Sean at Pacers in Clarendon made it such an easy process. He helped me find workout shoes as well as shoes for every day wear. Im on my feet all day and really needed something comfortable but supportive. I cant say enough good things.
I was looking for a new pair of running shoes and the Clarendon store provided superior service. My running gait was examined both on the treadmill and outside as well as checking my foot size and arch. They were able to provide four different choices for the running shoes. Good job and I recommend the store.
After years of buying cheap sneakers, I finally invested in a good pair that I got from these folks. I sold shoes and sneaks in my youth, so I know the difference between knowledgeable staff and those going through the motions. My sales associate in Clarendon (wish I recalled her name so i could give a proper shout out) knew her sneakers and helped me find a perfect fit just right for my purposes.
Bought the wrong pair of running shoes, a few months later they replaced them at no cost with the perfect pair of running shoes. They are smart, generous, and a big part of our community.Additionally, I needed a pair a sneakers to use for casual walking around it and bought a pair that are super comfortable.
Did get the fit you expected? No hassle exchanges!Ive been shopping at Pacers for over 20 years and very rarely have had to bring back a pair of shoes. Because of Covid, I bought a pair of trail shoes from their online store. They just didnt fit the way I expected. I brought them down to the Clarendon store and the manager exchanged them, no questions asked.Actually, thats not true. He did ask questions about the fit of the exchanged shoes, a lot of them. Then we sat down and went through 4 other shoes and found the ones that were the perfect fit.Service has always been at the heart of this store. You will not be disappointed.
Underwhelmed with the general feedback after visiting the store for arch support in my shoes. Rep simply placed two different supports on the ground and asked which felt better. I didn’t get the sense they were very knowledgeable at all. Not very many questions asked to get to know my running style, goals, etc. Or why a support was better than the other for me. Guess I was looking for better guidance overall than that. Didn’t purchase. Will find another store
The staff here is incredibly knowledgeable and take their time to assure you get a great shoe for your stride and needs.
Gone shopping twice now during the pandemic. Great service. The store is now open for walk-ins. If you make an appointment they will give you knowledgeable help picking shoes. I was extremely impressed and will be returning in the near future!
Friendly staff and a wide variety of options for the average runner. Would definitely visit again!
First time visit. Was greeted promptly. Friendly staff and store was nice and organized. Gentleman helped me choose right type of shoe for my needs and they have good selection. Very pleased.
Ive been going to Pacers for years and todays experience was a sad reflection on the store they used to be. I felt distinctly unwelcome at the door. (My girlfriend who met me several minutes later had the same experience so it wasnt just me). I understand (and appreciate!) the restrictions and extra measures for Covid, but do so with a thanks for your understanding and patience not by barking what do you want! as if Im an inconvenience to you. Im a customer! And after selecting my items, I was generally ignored. While there were lots of sales clerks, the only one working the register went off to the back room, to the front of the store, to talk to another clerk to help another customer in line. Great for that customer, but maybe that customer shouldnt have been at the register if they still needed help, and more importantly maybe one of the other clerks could have helped that customer instead of letting the register be abandoned for a long while. tl/dr: I felt unwelcome, ignored and unappreciated as a customer. The selection of products are still top notch, the customer service not so much.
Simply the best service, every time. Needed new shoes but couldnt remember the exact brand -- hard for me to get to the store as I returned to running after a baby, but one quick call and they looked me up, found my usual type, and I could pick it up curbside the same day. Always have the most fun races too ... looking forward to getting back to those post-pandemic!
This place is awesome! I went in for a fitting and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Leah, in particular, gave me 3 great recommendations based on my unique situation and I left very happy with my new sneaks! Thank you, Pacers!
Always a great place to shop for running gear. Excellent service!
Great personalized customer service. They lay out the store in a good way to keep distance. Great selection of items.
Great Customer Service!! Feet fitted with the perfect pair of sneakers!! Very Satisfied!!
Lydia was so great. Great runners shop. They have so many styles. And the staff is super knowledgeable. Lydia was super confident and sure about all the info so she gave me when doing my sneaker fitting. As well as thoughtful. I will for sure be back for another pair of sneakers and some new ones for my mom! :) Thanks Pacers!
Very helper and awesome service.
With everyone ordered inside & a pandemic outside, the staff at Pacers is offering one-on-one, virtual fittings to help get you in the right shoe. They shipped the next day. Fantastic, knowledgeable service and impressive innovation to keep work available for their staff + help keep the community running through all this. Thanks all.
Really nice store, recommended!!!
Measured my feet and suggested 1/2 size larger for a perfect fit
With running gear, its nice to try before you buy. So I always come here to try on new shoes and chat with the knowledgeable staff about shoes and running. Usually, the price isnt even that much more than buying online, and they have a pretty good rewards system. Theyll also film you running and recommend shoes based on your fair and pronation. I made them take out probably 6 pairs of shoes and never got any resentment! Will shop here again.
The staff at Pacers Running in Clarendon are incredibly helpful and the store has an excellent selection of shoes and gear. I was able to describe my running needs and budget, and the staff used this information along with their expert analysis of my gait and arch to find me a great new pair of shoes. They let me take my time trying out several pairs, run on the store treadmill, and even told me that I could swap out the pair after a few runs if I was unsatisfied. Now that is customer service! Definitely recommend for all running needs.
Good selection of brands and very nice clothes and accessories for sports.
Bought another pair of running shoes. Sales guy was pretty helpful and came away with a pair of shoes that so far are working out super well!
COVID safety measures prioritize appointments over walk-ins. Staff is very helpful in choosing the right fit.
I’m not from the area but I try to pop in whenever I’m around and I love it! They have a neat selection with stuff I don’t see most other places, and I’m a fan of the DC skyline shirts as well. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, too. I’d love to do one of the scheduled runs sometime but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Great shop for runners!
I run track and cross country for Denison University. I exclusively buy trainers from Pacers, they are a friendly and reliable running store. Great staff, environment, product selection. 10/10!
Pacers Clarendon is my go to for new running shoes. Staff is always friendly and ready to help with anything you require. If they dont have what you want, they waste no time calling their sister stores to have something transferred, or in some cases going directly to the vendor. Thanks Pacers for keeping me and the local community running strong!
As someone getting back into running, my experience was great. Their expertise and practical advice is refreshing. A bonus was their sidewalk sale during Clarendon Days.
Went in a few days ago and got a great pair of Hoka’s from Natalie! She had so much knowledge about shoes and running in general, and was able to fit me for a shoe that was perfect for my needs. 10/10, she’s great, deserves a promotion and/or a raise
Great advice and a lot of attention given. I went in thinking about getting one running shoe but was curious. I discovered another pair that fit my needs much better! I highly recommend this place.
Great products and awesome staff! Its hard to find the right running shoes to match your foot and running goals; this place makes it easy. Youll most likely be paying full price, but its worth it to get the right fit.
Great store, but have never been fit there so I cannot speak to their fitting skills (matching the runner with the right shoe) but, they have consistently not had my shoe in stock — which is a core shoe in a core size.
Good selection and prices! Friendly and very helpful staff. If you need running shoes or gear, this is the only place to go!
The entire experience was perfect from walking in the door and being greeted by a most helpful consultant; he was a runner and he knew how to assess my particular needs being a former runner, now walker who needed a good diagnosis of my current stride status; an hour later after evaluation and trial of multiple shoes, I selected my best fit and my happy feet walked out the door! This is subject matter expert service.
Despite Covid, great service, friendly staff, and love the return policy
I am a newbie runner, but I needed better shoes. This place was amazing! They are so friendly and willing to guide you through the shoe selection process. I will definitely be going back!
I went to Dicks and tried on about six pairs of shoes. The sales person didnt assist me at all and offered no advice. At Pacers, I was immediately assisted by Megan and she found the perfect shoes for me! They have a generous return policy and obviously really care about you finding the right fit.
Very friendly knowledgeable staff, who are committed to costumer service. Elicia was great.
I have been a customer for over 15 years in the Arlington location for Pacers. I only buy my athletic shoes here. The service is excellent, the staff is great, if they dont have the model you want, they order it. Cannot say enough great things about this store!
Ive been here a few times in the last few weeks in my quest to find the perfect running shoe. The last two times I ended up getting the same staff member - didnt catch his name - and he was so patient and knowledgeable and helpful. It was obvious hes been in the industry a long time and not only has the head knowledge about his gear, hes tried a lot of these shoes on himself in different situations and can vouch for what they do in different scenarios. They also did an examination of my walk to determine my arch needs. This is the kind of personal touch that you cant get with online shopping or a store like DSW. The price tag may be a bit higher, but in my opinion its worth it for a quality consult if youre serious about getting the best shoe for your situation.
It was back in May, and my old NB 990?s needed replacing. I tried the DC store; they gave me short shrift and suggested the Arlington store for a better selection. The next week it happened that my car needed work at a nearby garage in Clarendon. So I gave the Arlington store a try. I am older heavier jogger as I typically jog home from work with a knapsack holding my work clothes, etc. and had been using the extra wide 990s (or lifestyle shoes as they are called now) for years. The salesperson measured my foot and suggested I try something new, NBs 880, and was patient with my skepticism and ordered it in extra wide. When the 880s arrived and I tried them on, I was still doubtful. The sales person said I could return them if they did not work out. I left my old broken down 990s and jogged the rest of the way home in the new 880s, and I have been extremely happy with these shoes and ordered an extra pair. The staff seems very knowledgeable, and it is worth working with them. I will be back.
I walked in on a fairly slow Tuesday afternoon (around 4pm) with the intention of getting a new pair of shoes. There was one other person getting fitted for a pair of shoes, but I couldnt really tell who the staff member was and who was getting fitted (both were fairly casual in their dress and couldnt identify a name tag or anything). Walked out without even trying on shoes after walking through the store a few times. The staff member might have been busy, but I didnt even get a hi, let me work with this guy and Ill get to you or even an acknowledgement that someone else had entered the store. It was as if I walked into a completely unattended store.
This place is so convenient. Whether you seek a new pair of kicks, running clothes, or a ne watch, this is your place. Like other Pacers, they perform a gait analysis by recording you on a treadmill running in different shoes to ensure you buy the right shoes for your body. Staff here is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Great one stop shop.
Had a great first experience here. They were helpful and friendly. Didnt give that hey you arent a runner, what are you doing here vibe. I will be back.
Allison spent 30 min with me and my wife. After watching our gait she was able to suggest appropriate running shoes. The price was the same on Amazon and Pacers has a 30 day return policy. Score!
Ive heard nothing but good things, but my experience was very lackluster. After explaining what I was looking for, the sales associate told me he would recommend a pair from Saucony, Ascics, or Brooks. Then he came back with New Balance, Nike, and Brooks because apparently they didnt have size 8s in the others. Im sure it wasnt his fault that they didnt have good options for me, but it would have been nice if he wasnt yawning and looking at his watch while I was trying on shoes that ultimately were not a good fit.
These folks know running gear and are friendly and helpful.
I popped into Pacers this afternoon and was immediately assisted by Matt. He was very thorough in assessing my needs and didn’t laugh when I nearly fell while attempting to bend my knee while standing on one leg. He brought out four selections to try and then proceeded to go back and forth to get additional sizes and colors. I ended up purchasing a new pair of Saucony shoes and could not be happier. I just logged a seven mile run and my feet felt fantastic. Thanks Matt!
The staff is helpful and responsive. I left confident my shoes will work for my running style. My only issue was the price but I guess you pay a premium for the staffs expertise.
I went into the store as a brand new runner - aka someone who had never run just to run before and was about to embark on the Couch to 5k journey. Eileen was fantastic. She didnt judge me for not being a runner and was excited for me to start. She wasnt pushy with products, was very patient and thorough when going through the many shoes I tried on and found what worked best for me. She was informative about local running groups and very encouraging without overselling them. When we found the right shoe for me and I wasnt a fan of the color she had a different pair sent over from another store the next day and remembered me by name when I came in to pick them up. I will definitely recommend this store in the future.
This is as nice a running store as Ive been to. They have a large selection of items to choose from. This was one of only two places Ive been able to find the Gu Roctane flavor I like, so I picked up a few. Their prices are in line with any other store selling the same goods. The ladies working were very friendly and helpful.
Very helpful and informative staff. Good selection of running gear.
Great staff and service.
Great local running store. They know what they are doing. Great products
Great running supply store with helpful staff. They usually have enough staff on hand that you dont have to wait very long, if at all.
Their employee Jason Taylor, I believe is the assistant manager now, was horribly offensive. He said very racist comments to me😠 I dont think he knew my husband is black. Super unprofessional. Will never shop here or any of the other locations. I DO NOT SUPPORT RACISTS BUSINESSES. Nobody should!
Fantastic, customized service! Come in for a gait analysis and the staff will give you several great shoe options. Free community fun runs and discounts galore.
The help you receive in picking a shoe in this store is outstanding. They work with you to find the perfect shoe to fit you.
Alegra did a great job finding me the perfect running shoes.
Kara was great and so very helpfulEven though I didnt buy a pair of shoes she explained everything so patiently! I will be going back to the store next time and spend more money.
Awesome service, as always. Unmatched return policy, and expert advice
They sell a lot of clothes made out of synthetic fabric that will end up in the environment. This will please all narcissic people who do only care about themselves.
Ive been to this location a few times, so perhaps my most recent visit was a fluke. I like the running gear Pacers sells, but the woman who helped me on the Saturday I went in last was really rude to me and honestly made me feel stupid. Thats never something a runner or really anyone wants, so I am kind of turned off by this place now.
Great, friendly and knowledgeable service. Top notch.
They sell low-quality footwear. After seven months, the fabric on the sneakers began to creep away. The stores manager said that the sneakers could not be returned or exchanged. They have such a store policy.Sneakers were bought for $ 160. It is a pity that the store management chose such a policy.
Very helpful staff. I dont know anything about my feet or what kind of shoes I should be wearing and they helped me find something that felt better than anything Ive worn in years.
Walked in the store today 22May18 at about 3:30pm. The two you ladies greeted me, I asked if they carried the Nike React, they say no, I proceed to look at their other offerings, low and behold sit a black pair of Nike Reacts. Confused at this point because I was just told they didn’t have any, I asked the young ladies the name of the name of the shoes and they say Nike Reacts! and I was give look as if I shouldnt be there and should just leave.
Great and knowledgeable store in Arlington. Ive been regrettably wanting new running shoes.. but due to cost, waiting.Fortunately, Pacers didnt leave my wallet broke like Road Runners did. I was helped by an expert that didnt try to force an $80 insole on me (road runners is pretty scammy in doing this). Membership here is also free! Yup, free.I bought a great pair of Nikes, grey and orange. The woman assisting me brought out 6 pairs, the first being my absolute favorite.Patient staff, family owned local venue. Make sure to look at all the runs they have coming up. Super awesome. I also bought 4 synthetic socks.. Im also very picky on socks.. but these.. theyre left and right foot assigned and below the ankle.. feel absolutely devine.Im sold, firm follower of Pacers and will certainly be back soon. Also note, Im driving from Germantown here. Yes, it is that good. :)
The staff are always helpful and the products are always worth the money. Its small, so they are often out of sizes but you can usually get things shipped from another store.
Helpful but a bit pricey. Good if you are looking for advice.
Love this store! The staff is so polite and helpful!!
I was told by one employee from here that my shoe size was 10 1/2, im barely 5/3, with tiny feet, my feet swim in a size 8! They just wanted to make a sale/ fill quota. Not nice at all.
Best place in Arlington to find and get fitted for the right running shoe.
Walked in good service, not crowded, walked out with new shoes. Customer service was good
If youre serious about your running, you want precise fitting, and you want legit shoes check this place out. If youre averse to spending money on service, buy online and just hope it works out.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lot good choces
Customer service has gone way down hill at this store. When I first came here 2 years ago, I was attended by a knowledgable young woman who helped me find the right size shoe and fit my orthotics into the shoes I had selected. This time, they had to special order my size which took over a week to arrive. I had to call them to find out where my order was. When I went to pick it up, the young man acted put out that I wanted him to find my order then just handed me the box and mumbled something about trying them on and went back to chatting with his young colleagues who seemed equally oblivious and unwilling to actually serve customers. When Im paying over $100 for a pair of shoes, I expect better service than one would get at a budget shoe shop. My friend was there earlier this year, had the same lousy experience and walked out. I also agree with the person who commented that it was hard to tell who was on staff. You need to invest in uniform shirts and customer service training.
Theyve a broad excellent selection of shoes with a very competent & friendly staff. Theyve other running gear & accessories too.
Love these guys. Always very helpful!
Super friendly and helpful employees. They helped me find a shoe that really helped some ankle pain
Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Shoes are a little expensive but the staff make want to.buy my shoes here.
Knowledgeable staff, quick and easy visit.
So Ive completed 3 full marathons and 28 half marathons, Im not an expert but I know how one brand of shoe has declined in quality over the past 3 years, and in what I thought was a friendly discussion about shoes, the salesman continually countered every point with how wrong I was. Who was this jerk? Sorry you sell shoes for a living but other people know a few things about shoes. I was hoping to have a good experience there, to make it my new neighborhood store but after that run in with Mr. Jerkwad I just dont feel like spending one dime there.
Like the other running store in Arlington, if you dont look like a hardcore runner or arent wearing running clothes they dont give you the time of day. Also I wear a size 8 and they never have a large selection of sizes.
Very nice staff and fair prices
Nice experience, pretty good cuatomer service. Will return.
Great Store and Staff! Very helpful and good prices.
Very nice, knowledgeable and patient staff.
