I have been a Protea customer for roughly 25 years. Two engagement rings that were brilliant and stunning, three earrings, and two necklaces. I started buying in person when I lived outside Washington DC but have bought a majority of the pieces while living 3000 miles away in San Francisco. My father-in-law asked for my help with a 50th anniversary gift for my MIL. He had in mind a ring that would represent the 50 years they’d spent together. He asked if I could contact a jeweler to design something special. This was three weeks before their anniversary and during COVID! Not knowing where to turn and worried that a well-known jewelry retailer would charge a fortune and might not be nimble enough to turn around a custom piece in a short time frame, I reached out to a friend who recommended Anthony. Anthony was prompt in following up on the email introduction and we spoke the next day. I explained what I was looking for (which was very unique and needed an experienced jeweler to execute) and Anthony was very understanding and helpful. He advised against a ring since we weren’t sure of my MIL’s exact ring size and the challenges of designing something of the proper proportion. Together we decided on a pendant and he had his designer get to work on a mock-up. The next day we received a CAD design via email of the proposed piece. It was perfect! The piece was created and Anthony delivered it three days before the deadline. My FIL presented the necklace to my MIL at a 50th anniversary dinner and both had tears in their eyes. She hasn’t taken it off since! I felt completely confident in the quality, price and execution of this purchase. I’d highly recommend Anthony for your next jewelry purchase.

Anthony is really the best! After several years of my princess cut engagement ring coming loose in the setting I had, I went to Anthony and he was HONEST with me. He told me why I was having problems with it (nobody else I had gone to previously told me the truth) and have me some solutions. After a few meetings, we decided to remake the setting specifically for the diamond. Needless to say, I LOVE IT!! What a superb job by him and his designer. The quoted time line was on point. Anthony advised me on the resizing of a special family ring. He is very knowledgeable and he told me that the safest way was to send it to a consulting jeweler who could cut and resection the platinum band with a laser. I agreed and he had it done. The ring is now a perfect size and it looks brand new. It is some 70 plus years old and the band looks incredible!

Great customer service and even better quality at a lower price than any jewelry store I went to in Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria, or DC. The whole process was very relaxed. Anthony knows his diamonds and will help you select the right one. Compared to every other jewelry store that gave me suggestions on what I should do to enhance the ring (aka spend more money), Anthony actually gave me honest advice that brought the total price of the ring down and took money out of his pocket. It was rather refreshing. The diamond itself is gorgeous, and Anthony will work with you even after the process is done if you have any questions or just want a free cleaning.

Protea was everything I was looking for in a jeweler and more. I needed an anniversary band for my wife on our 10 year anniversary and after finding their website and a few items that interested me, I spoke with Anthony and he was extremely helpful in determining a few good options in my price range. He also offered to work around my schedule, since I was coming from DC after work and he was willing to stay a late after normal business hours (a few times).Then he went above and beyond to offer to let me take the ring to present on our anniversary and then bring it back to have it re-sized afterwards since I wasnt positive about my wifes ring size.
