Very friendly service when I visited to shop for a mattress. Answered all my questions. The communication between myself and the company via email was excellent too. Cant beat the financing either.
Second time at this facility. Returned due to customer service and quality products.Nice selection of desired product.Two edged blade:Pretty much left alone to wander and try various chairs. Good.When selection was made, very little description of product asidefrom being flex steel. Disappointing, but a request wasnt made todescribe product either.Blindsided by set up charges. Not mentioned, not expected, neverencountered in the past. Not happy at all.Took a friend for a scouting adventure on return trip to cancel order. She agreed on quality and selection but also noted the associated price tag.Took two weeks before getting deposit back. Lots of lip service. Found a similar chair at about 1/3 the price. Highly doubt any further excursions to this business.Staff still pleasant to work with so long as you are giving them money. Truly unfortunate.
I bought a couch and chair in September which I love! I had looked in so many places and did not find anything close to what I wanted.I had a great experience. Everyone from the sales people to delivery were very friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. I was so happy to be able to buy them and not have to order and wait for them. Everyone was safe snd wore masks. Highly recommend and I would definitely shop here again!
The Augusta store had a great selection of livingroom sets on display. We found several options that met our needs. We were greeted by Jenn, then allowed to wander on our own. No pressure. Once we made our decision, Jenn was there to help answer our questions and explain about sales.
Went here in early September looking for furniture as I had just moved across the country. The young man that started to help us was kind but not pushy. When he got busy with another customer, a woman came out of the blue and was rude from the moment we spoke to her. We had asked the original salesperson about the possibility of including a delivery fee in the price as I was about to make a purchase of more than one item. A couch and an expensive chair. When we questioned the woman about it she said he shouldnt have said that and that she was his manager. Well someone is responsible for his training.I have been in the customer service industry and management for over 14 years....her demeanor and manner were not only unprofessional, she was simply rude beyond belief.Had I not really wanted the furniture, I would have walked away.Shame on her if this is someone who is in charge. Not a thank you from her whatsoever.The furniture is lovely but I wouldnt recommend anyone going here. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT!
I went to buy a sofa today and Jenn was Knowledgeable and helpful in giving me information. It’s hard finding good customer service like Jenn gave me today.
I bought a couch and when it got delivered the base had a scratch on it, so the driver and I took a picture and he said it would be replaced. I got a call from the office manager Amanda and told me it was a floor model. I told her I never agreed to buying a floor model. The conversation of a floor model never came up and was never written on my invoice. I thought I was getting a new couch. She must of asked me 5 times did you know that it was a floor model. Anyways the way I was treated I will never buy another item from north Mattress & Furniture again and I share my story with family and friends. Amanda needs to learn some people skills. She was very rude from the beginning.

Ordered our furniture on Oct 2 got it Dec 18. If we didnt keep asking about it, it would prob still be sitting in NY. About an hour after delivery found a seam that the stitches was coming undone, went to the place we got them from to show pics and to let them know the same night it was delivered. Got an email Dec 22 asking for pics of the issue, sent out pics same day. Got another email on Dec 26 saying it was sent to the repairman and he will be InTouch. As of 1/4/21 havent heard a thing from anyone.
We bought 2 couches, a loveseat, 2 ottomans, and 2 twin head boards. When purchasing the head boards we asked the salesperson whether they would fit a standard frame. We were told, yes, certainly. After delivery we tried attaching them to our bed frames. No go. Not even close! The legs of the head board were wider apart than the frames, no way to connect them. Had a series of back and forth phone conversations with Amanda. She told me others had made the frames work, but she admitted that they had to (maybe) be attached at an angle (???) Well, long story short, they didnt fit. Would have had to use a 6 bolt or something like that --- at all angle? No issues with the other furniture!!!!

We had a great experience at Northern Mattress! Very excited about our new bed and base. Can’t say enough good about Dustin. He was helpful, friendly and had expert advice for our decision. Josh was also great and helpful. Highly recommend them and Northern Mattress for great service and an excellent deal on a top quality bed!
We are happy with the piece of furniture we purchased, and the price was right.. The actual experience was less smooth than we had expected, possibly due partly to covid precautions. We were interested in a very specific item and brought picture and sku, had a confirmed appointment, and wore masks as currently required. We had not brought a tape measure as we expected furniture stores would have them, and the floor person wiped one down (no mention of bringing your own in ad). Sales staff could not direct us to the specific item as inventory does not specify and similar ones are spread across more than one large floor, and might not even be in the particular store (ad said might be available at this store). We were lucky and did find the item fairly quickly on the main floor with her help. The sale itself went efficiently. Delivery was arranged for the following day, which was great, but we understood that delivery would set it up. When delivery arrived, they didnt want to move the original piece out of the way (it was heavier than two senior citizens dared move). Delivery were grumpy about moving the older piece, but did so. Perhaps we misunderstood at the store or there may be a disconnect with delivery. We were prepared to wear masks, but delivery people were not wearing them. Overall a mixed experience.
Jenn was super friendly, extremely helpful and it was by far the smoothest, least stressful furniture purchase I have ever made. Prices are reasonable and everyone there is wonderful. Best place to shop.Most of the time when you go to buy furniture it is like dealing with a used car salesperson. This place is NOT like that at all. Its like talking with an old friend.
Unfortunately, this company has repeatedly refused to stand behind their products. My parents had purchased a sofa and a leg came off. Their only response was a shrug and for them to complain to the manufacturer. With little area competition people dont have a choice. However, as this area grows and more competition moves in, service like this will not be tolerated and they will go out of business.
Spent $5,000 on 2 new couches and 1 recliner almost 5 years ago, which $469 of it was for a 5 year warranty. Had some problems with the headrest on one of the couches right around the 4 year mark, during covid, called and was forwarded to service, no one answered so I left a message. Called back a month later because I hadnt heard back, was forwarded to service again and no one answered. Waited another month, called back and was forwarded to service again, no one answered so I called right back and told them that no one was answering and that I had been waiting for a call back for 2 months. Someone wrote down my name, number and email address and said theyd get back to me soon. A few weeks later I heard back, they asked me for pictures and the serial number. A month later they told me to contact the warranty company directly.... I did so that day and the warranty company said that I contacted them too far after the incident date and that they wouldnt cover it. Reached back out to Northern Mattress and Furniture and they said theyd speak with management and get ahold of the warranty company, they said if the warranty company wouldnt fix it then they would fix it. Guess what? Never heard back, emailed them again and they wont respond. I reached out to the furniture gallery and within 1 day they said that someone from service will be calling me to setup an appointment. I wont be giving Northern Mattress and Furniture company any more of my money.
Overhead employee making fun of another employee for wearing a mask. Apparently Northern Mattress doesnt care about CDC guidelines, their employees, or their customers. Wont be going there anymore, even after pandemic has ended.

Unsafe experience. The delivery people, who work for the store, both refused to wear masks (we had some on hand), and there was no warning from the store, despite Maines current state of emergency. We had spent a considerable effort clearing out our living room, so we proceeded, but kept the windows open and fans going.As they charge to deliver, you get to pay for this completely unacceptable risk.As winter is coming, I cant recommend anyone have delivery or shop there, as our salesmen had to be asked to put on a mask, and none of the other workers were wearing them.
We have purchased many pieces from the Skowhegan location and thoroughly enjoy working with Tony. Always helpful, honest and goes above and beyond.Only giving 4 stars because working with the customer service rep from Augusta for anything repairs is frustrating. Lack of follow up, communication and she is not very friendly. Fortunately for as much as we have gotten through them we haven’t had to deal with her often.

In 2015 i had a bad experience and said i would notgo back however i was looking for a love seat and recliner. I wanted a recliner with the pull level on the bottom of chair. Was told no problem. When i received the chair it was with the small bottom level. Than not even a year in and it breaks. The worst of all this is i was told it would take 6 weeks to get the part let alone fix it. So i will not be back. And i left 2 messages and emails and no one got back to me. Very bad business if you ask me

He never tried to sell us unnecessary items and kept within our price range. We will be coming back for any of our future furniture needs😊
The sales woman was very nice n professional. I was using a walker she was helpful. I needed a water n she went and got me a bottled water. 2nd time I bought a couch from them. Hopefully this will work out good.

Found perfect living room sets for our home and camp at half the cost of the other four stores we looked at - with equal, if not superior quality. Dustin was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly - will shop here again.
As far as service goes, Josh was informative re: specific questions about the furniture (materials used, upcharges for higher quality fabric, etc), not pushy, & super helpful. We just designed and ordered our sectional tonight and Im hoping that I can give 5 stars when it comes to the delivery & actual product we receive. Ill update this review once our sectional shows up!

We started with browsing at Marden’s but called over to Northern Mattress to get some price ideas and conveniently they had a great finance deal going on. Giovanni was very helpful and a great salesman, showing us the best of what they had to offer but very courteous to stay within the budget that we were comfortable with. We were approved in less than a minute and everything went very smoothly. We would recommend them for a furniture store for anything you need as they have a broad selection of everything and are very friendly without being pushy.
My favorite place for furniture, reasonably priced for such a huge selection. I just bought a love seat couch 🛋 for my son. My son is autistic and has very specific criteria due to his skin sensitivity. Northern Matress met every need he has and are delivering next week. I didnt even have to go to the store. The store live chat feature helped me out and I had a sales person checking for everything I needed. Sent pictures, descriptions and prices. Made a final decision, gave them what info they needed as Im already a customer. And voila done. Happy customer here!!!

A couple months ago we bought a dining room table and chairs, the salesgirl was wonderful, the delivery guys were great and early with the delivery. Unfortunately, we had a much different experience this week. But, I will still buy my furniture there. I was impressed when the owner called to follow up.
We have always had great experiences here! This morning we stopped by to check out beds, they were still closed but Ryan opened the door welcomed us in and spent all kinds of time explaining the beds. They have a bed simulator right there that gives suggestions as to which beds would be personalized to us. Financing went quickly and painlessly, we walked out with new pillows and a date for delivery, can’t wait to get our new bed! The first experience was over 20 years ago, we bought a dining room table and still have it! Last year we bought a sofa and love it! Next will be new beds for our daughters.
We didn’t have a good experience. Our salesperson told us several things that weren’t true such as “no problem for Saturday delivery”.....but it is a BIG problem..... It took almost 3 weeks to get the bed from the time we made the purchase. When I called to speak to a manager about all of the misinformation that was given to us I was treated like this was “my problem “ and My husband was told “he could come pick up the bed if He wanted it sooner.” (After we were told free prompt delivery on Saturday by our salesman.) They said he was “new” and shouldnt have given us wrong info but he told us during the sale he had been there over a year. We were charged for disposal fees and they didn’t dispose of the items they said they would due to a stain on our old mattress and them feeling it was too dirty to dispose of evidently. It was a water stain as it had been in a garage and had gotten wet prior to us getting it from a family member. We were told by a manager the delivery would be at 4pm and they came at 8:30 in the morning. We were totally unprepared. It was a complete mess. When we called to get refunded the disposal fee the salesman who we had dealt with denied he had sold us the items. I was honestly surprised for such a long standing company. That’s why we decided to buy from them because we wanted to buy local and support a local long standing business. We are locked into this deal now but it will be my last purchase from them.
This store is the epitomy of what a family owned business is all about. They care, they work hard for you and offer reasonably priced furniture in almost any look you could think of. Love this store!

I purchased a king size mattress from Northern Mattress in Augusta, Maine. It hurt my hips and back so much I couldnt sleep on it. I asked them to return it with a restocking feed and the possibility of another mattress.-Most mattress store give you a trail period. All I got was: You bought it, you own it and we got your money. A rep-able company would have worked with me, the customer, to make everyone happy.I had to buy a second mattress this month. Now I am out $3500 and a mattress I caint use.Dont shop there as you too could get screwed.
This entire ordeal has been a complete nightmare. We purchased and paid in full for this dining room set September 6. On November 5 no one could tell me when wed receive it. We finally got it and have had nothing but issues with the chairs, have not been able to utilize them and it is at this moment still not resolved! I will never purchase from your company again!
Purchased a recliner. Delivered the other day and I love it. Very comfortable and for once, a recliner that doesnt push my head forward. Would recommend it to anyone. It is their new line.

Bought a couch that said 2019 then having it for 3 months and somthing braking had to go through hoops and they tried getting me use my 1 time insurance on the recliner. And sence they have had the couch for 3 years even though when I bought it it said 2019 they do not carry it anymore so I have to wait a month to two month just for the part to come in! Got treated like I was doing somthing wrong . Service in store was awesome though except being lied to about the couch !!!!
I am so happy with Northern Mattress and Furniture. My furniture arrived within the time promised, even though the first cabinet NMF received was damaged and had to be returned. The replacement was delivered to me the next week. I will shop here first for any future furniture needs.

Building is very run down, furniture was nice to look at but the prices seemed steep. Was not a fan of this place nor would I personally ever buy anything from here. Staff was ok, the lady that helped us showed us around but didnt seem to know very much about the furniture.
Very poor customer service. We purchased the warranty protection plan and after a 3 month run around, have still not honored our replacement or repair of a chipping table and side table. Poor quality furniture AND they dont stand by their products. Shop elsewhere!!
We have been waiting for a year and a half now to get our chair fixed. They now said they are backed up until next year!!! Very dissatisfied with the results.

We came in at 5:30 (30 min until closing) and left the parking lot at 6:03 with a chair for a family member who just came home from open heart surgery to find her recliner soiled by her angry (scared) pups. Never did we feel rushed. We actually bought another chair to pick up later AND plan to buy a couch this coming weekend too. Thank for your time!

If you want your furniture to fall apart 12 months after you buy it, shop here! Trying reporting the issue and they offer to fix for a fee. Save yourself the trouble and spend a little more somewhere else.
OK I AM SORRY but Of all the places I have visited, NEVER did I ever experience a place where I was treated the way I had today (treated worthless). I asked what a price was for a specific piece of furniture and was told 3 separate times: About two HUNDRED! Ok folks last time I checked, the word ABOUT in retail is a BAD answer...( I planned to buy actually two of) of this ABOUT priced furniture. *ONLY FOR her to come back and say its normally 649, but it was damaged on the back, and they are still asking 399....Let me say this, I was going to buy, 2 dressers, a night stand and two twin mattresses.NOT NOW!!! NORTHERN MATTRESS AKA PRICE CHOPPER YOUR LOSS...
Ashton was very friendly on the sales floor. Super helpful with decision making and not overly pushy. She said it would take 4 to 6 weeks for delivery and the delivered on the last day of the 6 weeks. Unfortunately two pieces of the $3,000 bed frame came damaged. The gentlemen who delivered said we wouldnt be able to fit the king size bed in our room and wanted us to sign a forced entry form. We ended up having them set it up in the living room so they wouldnt damage it further and moved it into the bedroom ourselves. The delivery guys took pictures of the preexisting damage and sent them to customer service and left. It took two hours for them to set up the bed which came in 5 pieces and required about a dozen screws. They spent the entire time complaining and did not have any tools with them so they used my husbands. We started to make the bed and realized that they did not bring enough of the machine screws and decided to use sheet rock screws drilling holes in seams and into the finished portion of the footboard. They reordered the headboard and footboard which were delivered after ANOTHER 6 weeks and realized they forgot to reorder the side panels their employees had drilled holes in. So ANOTHER 6 weeks and we finally got our bed. We had them deliver and set it up ourselves...in our bedroom. What a nightmare group to work with. They didnt communicate well and made promises they kept forgetting. NEVER AGAIN will I purchase ANY furniture from this group. Id rather get a root canal. The one good thing they did was give a 10% refund but it wasnt worth the hassle.

The worst service I ever had to deal with. The woman working the desk was extremely rude from the start making us rush through the paper work and putting down other employees. They are not knowledgeable of their products and make you feel like everything you ask is a wasting their time. The service manager did not have any customers service skills and treated my family very poorly. We waited 3 weeks for a table and it wasnt even the right one. We went back to store and they said it was the same table when it clearly was not the same. Its not worth buying anything from here when you get treated like dirt and pay for over priced items.

I cant trust a website that doesnt display pricing. It requests that you contact them in order to find out prices. They might have the best prices around but I cannot quickly narrow my selection by browsing therefor wasting far more than the two minutes it took to type this up and move on to the next mattress store.
