Used to be regulars here and loved it. Moved to NYC and when I came back it’s all different! Longer wait times, called in an order and while I was told 15/20 it wasn’t ready till 30/40 minutes later, making me wait when I showed up. Also used to love their crumb cake and now they have some prepackaged option - not bad but not fresh, a little dry.
The store itself was super crowded, in the past I know they had people waiting outside and I think it would be better if they went back to that set up. It was hard to tell who was waiting, who was in line, if there even was a line to order, etc.Ordering was chaotic and can tell they seem understaffed, no one greeted us for a few minutes while we stood by the register but they were making eye contact with us too 🤷🏻♀️. Once we talked to them they told us it would be 45 minutes for any hot food which was disappointing. After ordering we waited about 20 minutes for our food which was no biggie.Got home and the bagels were soooo filled with cream cheese, it was like a literal brick and just been put inside them (we ordered normal amount of cc btw). And the iced coffee was so bitter it was like they used way too many grounds per brew. This is only our second time going here and I was hoping to be able to support local, but well be sticking with Einsteins down the street in the future.
Slower than molasses… I could’ve had a sit-down breakfast in the time it took to get 2 bagels. We were the only customers in the shop when we ordered 2 simple breakfast bagels, however it took over 30 minutes to prepare our order. Numerous other customers came in after us and ordered and received their orders prior to us. By the time our order was finally ready, the bagels weren’t even warm anymore, one of the bagels was missing the cream cheese ordered, and one of the bagels had the wrong type of cream cheese on it. The bagels were good, but definitely not good enough to justify the wait and errors in the order.
Great Bagel shop with my favorite sandwich in town, the Rajin Cajun! Get it with the Angry TX cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel 👌They also have my favorite coffee, the Hill Country Pecan.
Love their bagels. Loaded up today and got extras to freeze and reheat later. My 2 year old couldnt wait and snagged another out of the bag to snack on when we got home.
I heard they had the best everything bagels so I wanted to give it a try. They were very nice and helpful. I paid the extra $.45 to have the bagels sliced only to come home and find none of them were sliced :( The bagels were okay. Extremely salty and didn’t taste super fresh even though I got them pretty early.
Love the bagels but stay out of the drink cooler...bought a Texas Tea for 3.38...thats 125% mark-up over Whole Foods across the street...
Best bagel breakfast sandwiches Ive had in Texas so far. Made sure to go out of my way to stop by Wholy Bagel while visiting Austin from Dallas. The Angry Texan cream cheese is supreme, and the bagels are high quality. Highly recommend.
Bagel was good, wish there was creamer out for the coffee but Ill live another day. Will stop by again if Im in the area.
Wholy bagel has the best bagels in town hands down! We’ve been getting bagels from here for over 3 years and they never disappoint. We’ve been to other bagel shops around town and they never measure up — these are truly the best, and we also thoroughly enjoy the vegan options!
Ive been coming here for a while now and like always, great customer service and great bagels. I usually only get a Nova Lox with everything bagel for $8.99. My fiance gets the everything bagel with lox cream cheese for $3.99. You can get tomato and capers for a little extra. It is equally good. Ill be coming back for sure.
I have eaten several bagels growing up on Long Island, probably some of the best. This was my first time going to Wholy Bagels, and unfortunately I won’t be going back. The bagels were hard and chewy, tasted a day old.
Update— The owner offered a gift card, so my boyfriend went back and was equally disappointed. The sesame bagels were sour, and all 15 bagels were hard, as if they weren’t fresh. Unfortunately, the employees again were unfriendly and made him feel like it was a bother when we only ordered bagels, untoasted and unsliced, no cream cheese. Won’t be going back :(Old review— I just moved to the area and was excited to try this but was a little disappointed. First, I asked for 3 bagels and 3 cream cheeses, all on the side. One was toasted, as I was going to eat it now, and the other two, I was taking home for my bf for later. I saw her putting the cream cheese on one of my untoasted bagels and asked her if it was my order and, if it was, to please put the cream cheese on the side for the next one. I was the only one waiting for an order in the store, so there was a good chance it was mine. The employee, bothered by my question asked “who are you?” And then said “that’s a multigrain bagel. It doesn’t come with cream cheese.” I had ordered some with it, but I said okay. All in all, I got two bagels with cream cheese on them, one toasted, one not, and one multigrain bagel untoasted with no cream cheese. They are small problems but with the mixed up order & unfriendliness, I’m wary to come back in.
Showed up to pick up my online order this morning. There was a long line, people filing into the driving lanes of the parking lot due to the fact that they werent allowing anyone to order or pick up inside. While I commend the owners for being cautious during COVID, there was absolutely no organization or assistance to help guide the 10+ people waiting in line to snake around to allow drivers to navigate the parking lot.Speaking to people in line, the majority were picking up online orders and some were waiting to place an order. Putting everyone together creates a HUGE inefficiency while causing crowding and confusion. Just make 2 lines - one for pick up and one for ordering. Expedite the pickups by just getting their names and letting them go on their way.As for the food.. by the time I received my order.. the bagel was soggy and all the filling was like warm.. nothing like a soggy lifeless bagel and warm cream cheese. All of this is due to the failed organization!!I used to love coming here weekend mornings, but I dont think Ill come back again if they cant get their things in order.
I cant tell you whens the last time Ive eaten a bagel, so today I changed that since I visited Wholy Bagel for lunch after seeing them pop up on my Insta feed a couple times and got the Wholy Cheesesteak. I got the Everything bagel and added Garlic Aioli to add more flavor and overall, it was good. Theyre to-go only right now, so Id recommend ordering online in advance! They were a lil busy when I arrived.
My bagel was super delicious, I created my own breakfast bagel with Taylor Ham. My wife had the novalox bagel and was also very delicious! I placed my order online and picked up, there was a long line so be prepared for that. The line went fairly quick.
Great bagels, when theyre available... Almost every time Ive been here Ive been turned away because the bagel shop was out of bagels...
THE place to go in Austin for bagels - eschew the national chains with their terrible service (looking at you, Einsteins) and bring your business here. Wide, imaginative range of bagels, cream cheese and other items. They cater to local tastes with tasty and innovative cream cheese options. Fast and friendly service, even with large crowds.
Im not one to order something healthy. Anyway I got the #5 which is mainly spinach and tomato after a rough night and let me tell you it single handedly cured me. Mentally and physically. Love this place
I like to treat myself to the Taylor ham, swiss cheese and egg sandwich. Sesame is the preferred choice, but plain bagel works too.
Easily my favorite place to grab breakfast in the morning. Being a Jewish man from New York, to say I take my bagel game seriously is an understatement. Great breakfast sandwiches and worth every penny. Will never stop being a loyal customer while my area code and ATX are one in the same. Staff is super friendly also.
The best bagel in Austin! They have numerous varieties of cream cheese you can get, my personal favorite being olive & pimento. Runner up would be the Lox sandwich (with red onion, capers, tomato and plain cream cheese). Hailing from New Jersey originally, I appreciate a proper and tasty bagel. I will even drive 20 minutes to get one when the cravings hit.
Wholy Bagel is it for anyone looking for authentic delicious New York bagels. This isnt a replication, this the real deal. Bagels are chewy, with a slight crunch with the crust. They dont slack on the cream cheese. Get ready for a damn-near quarter pound of the creamy goodness. My staple is their Everything Bagel (toasted, ya I know) with their Angry Texas cream cheese and red onions added. Heaven is right here in Austin!
I am just giving it 4 stars based on comparison with Einstein Bros. Bagels. In my personal opinion they have better bagels.
The lady working was a terrible person. Won’t be coming back for that reason.
Always excellent service and delicious food. Our go to is the Nova Lox everything bagel. Never been disappointed with the quality or quantity. Staff is always polite and friendly.
Small shop located in a shopping center. Offer a variety of bagels and spreads. Every bagel shop has its own unique crunch, chewy and taste. Bagel adventures! Cant go wrong.
Say what you will they know a thing or two about making bagels!
Hands down the best bagels in town. Only place anything near us Rock Star Bagels. Love regular bagels but the lox bagel sandwich is off the chain. The regular breakfast sandwiches are good but not really my deal. I really wanna try their Taylor ham sandwich but always forget since I like the lox so much. Always busy but worth the wait. Pic is everything untoasted (only savages toast a bagel) with plain cream cheese. The coffee is good too.
Probably the best bagel I’ve ever had with quick and friendly service!
Not worth the wait to be honest
Probably the best everything bagel Ive ever had, they actually got the seeds to stick on the top AND the bottom. Amazing
Best Bagels in Central Texas. Good prices, awesome service, amazing quality.
I put in an online order for 3 build your own sandwiches. My first and second choice bagels had run out, so a lady called me to ask what my third choice was. It was an hour or two to closing time. The pickup was at the door, not in but not curbside.I also bought a crumb cake and lemon slice cake. They were both prepackaged items. Idk how far away they came from and I didnt check the baker. I would have skipped the desserts if Id seen them first. According to my kiddo, they taste delicious and soft.
Best bagels in Austin. Every bagel I’ve ever gotten in NYC has the toppings on both sides. Wholy bagel does that! (Unlike some other NYC bagel places in town... pshh). So yes, I love that an everything bagel has ALL the everything! On both sides! Yum. I also love that they have vegan cream cheese! Thank you!But hey Wholy Bagel... How about 1-2 more vegan cream cheese flavors? That’d be dope please & ty!
Best bet would be to order online. 30min wait but oh so worth it! The bagels are crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. just like NYC bagels
As authentic a New York bagel as you can get in Austin. Great selection of signature cream cheeses
Unless you want to get treated like a peasant who waits for 2hr for a piece of mediocre bread AND be talked to like a fool, come to this place. The disrespect we encountered with the cashier was potent and caught me a little off guard, i wasn’t expecting to have to go through all this just for a bagel. I would call this place unholy bagel from now on.
This can be the first or second stop on your very short tour of great bagels in Austin.
Best dadgum bagels in South Austin!
Great bagels! Worth the stop
Very good bagel product and quite close to NY. Massively better than the chains. People are friendly and nice as well. You lose a star, however, for price. ~$2.75 for a cup of coffee is abusive as well as most of your pricing for add-on items like a 2nd egg.So all-in price prevents me from coming back often, but it is an absolute great establishment/product otherwise (sans the 1/4 inch of coffee grounds in the coffee this morning - such things happen).
Wholy Bagel is one of the only legit bagel spots in town where they properly boil their bagels. Don’t go to the chain spots or your grocery store for low quality bagels! Nicole and her team are amazing and I couldn’t recommend them more.
Amazing Bagels!!! So fresh and flavorful! If you get the breakfast bagels the eggs and bacon are fresh. Bacon was crispy and not too greasy! Highly recommend! Overall a magical experience
Good flavour, wholesome and good coffee, perfect place to grab your breakfast. Specially the spinach jalapeno bagel
Smoothest coffee I have ever had AND yall havent had a sandwich until youve had a Wholy Bagel sandwich. Try the Italian on an everything bagel 👌 Also friendliest staff youve ever met. Why arent you there right now?
Best bagels hands down outside of New York. I ordered the Nova Vox with the jalapeño cheddar bagel with half jalapeño and hatch peppers cream cheeses. They toast the bagel as well which gave it a nice crunch on the outside and a nice warm soft taste sensation in the inside. Perfect combination! I also ordered the salted, onion, blueberry, and garlic & herb bagels to go. Everything was 👌 in my book. Definitely give it a go.
Great place to get NYC style bagels
Real bagels made on site. Fluffy on the inside, chewy crust, great scallion cream cheese, and in a shop where everybody knows your name...what more could you want???
There is a wide selection of cream cheese here! It’s awesome to make a custom bagel or try one of their recipes. The premium nova lox bagel is the best bagel recipe I’ve tasted. They also offer Martinelli’s apple juice and other bottled drinks for the Good Samaritan bringing the office brekkie. Not many options to sit down, but COVID has limited that anyway, they are still performing beautifully and operation is prompt. Cheers!
This was a weekend place for me when I lived in S. Austin. Its always hard to decide which old haunt to visit when I do make it to town and this time I grabbed some bagels and cream cheese. I like that the new owners have a price for the tubs vs weighing it to the penny... Great bagels. Great place.
We drive 20-30 minutes just for these bagels, they remind us of home (NJ)!
Their breakfast and lunch bagels are great. The best bagel place in South Austin.
The bagels here are always super yummy! My parents came into town and my Dad, who is the pickiest eater of anyone said they were the best bagels he’s ever had. My husband gets Taylor ham with Muenster cheese on an everything. I love the lox. They also have a delicious hatch chili cream cheese.
Im from the east coast... These are ny style!
Cinnamon raisin my favorite but the pumpernickel a close second - good bagels
Great bagel, lox outstanding. Might be the best in Texas. A proper NY bagel, so happy to have found Wholy Bagel. Ill definitely be back.
Ok had high hopes for this place being an East Coast MOT but those were some way too chewy bagels. Dont get me wrong i like a chewyish bagel..but not like those. Great flavor but had to chew too long. Also here is the biggest disappointment. They hadBialys on the menu. My personal favorite..lived in Lower East Side near Bialystoker..the OG of the Bialy world.so my question what was that you made? Whaf was the crumble in the middle vampire protection? All that garlic and no cooked onions does not a bialy make.. couldnt even eat the middle and the bread was like a bagel not light like a bialy. Thumbs down all around. Oy
Their bagels are fantastic, some of the best New York bagels outside of New York. Their unique angry Texas cream cheese is so good! I’ve been enjoying their bagels for over 5 years and have never had an unpleasant experience. I wish I could give them 6 stars.
Best bagel joint youll find outside of Long Island.
Last year, I read an article praising the few great shops in Austin that sell authentic East coast style bagels -- it highlighted Wholy Bagel. I was eager to try, but all the shops were in South or Central Austin and I was living near Round Rock. Im from Texas and wont claim to know authentic NY style, but our far North Austin neighborhood used to have a bagel shop (Bennys) and I missed really fresh bagels.Wholy Bagel does not try to be anything but a bagel deli. I suspect their focus makes them great. My wife and I love their Nova Lox bagel sandwich. The staff are super friendly and eager to customize your order just how you want it. Their attention to each customer is nice. Even when the line is out the door, they move quickly and all staff and customers always seem chill -- though we are eager to bite into our perfect bagel.Oh yeah, we moved to Southeast Austin recently. Being a few minutes away from this place is just one more perk we are lovin about living South. Did we move for the bagels? I wont say, No.
Great bagels. Not sure how I feel about fish chunks in lox cream cheese. Usually have it blended more, but we shall see.
Absolutely love this place! I do suggest ordering ahead, sometimes it can get crazy what with COVID happening. They have lots of choices and their schmear is amazing.
What a hidden gem in Southwest Austin. Must go to. Best kolaches ever. Try the tuxedo cookie you will not be disappointed. Great customer service and friendly staff.
I really enjoyed the crisp outside and tender inside. Flavor was good. The people working the counter were super nice and had good knowledge of the offerings. I only gave 4 stars (wish there was a 4.5) as I really dont like the strip center. The bagels and service are 5 star. The parking is atrocious and almost dangerous. I went at 9 am to avoid the rush and it was doable. I know its not their fault so I will continue frequenting the establishment. Glad to have a great bagel place near my work and only 15 min from North Austin on a weekend.
I ate here for the first time about two weeks ago. The bagels were great, the service was quick considering how busy it can get on a weekend morning. My cashier was super friendly and helped me decide what I should I get. I just wished they would add a chocolate chip bagel to their menu!
My favorite place for bagel and lox in the city. A weekly tradition for my son and I. The lines can get long, but that’s just because this place is so good. Strongly recommend ordering ahead of time and picking up. Usually on the weekend there is a shorter line for phone orders.
NOT super friendly.......Went to pickup some tasty hot bagels for my sick roommate .Tried to thank them for being so polite THIS TIME....... and the person who waited on me made a sarcastic remark about having heard about a previous complaint I made on the service ....when picking up some bagels for my roommate.....He loves the bagels there.......just a warning....dont complain as they apparently cant let it go......
Lmao @ the 1 star reviews. This is THE best bagel you will find outside of the east coast, and yet you still manage to find a way to complain about it.I grew up in Jersey. Best bagels you will ever eat in your life.I absolutely cannot, for the life of me or anyone around me, find decent bagels outside Jersey. Ive been to a lot of different states, spent years in LA, no good bagels anywhere, except for right here at Wholy Bagel.Ill eat Einsteins if Im desperate. But Wholy Bagel is super close to the real deal. Its the best were going to find out here. They even have Taylor Ham, and yall probably dont even know what that is. 😅
Had wholy bagel for the first time, and it did not disappoint. While the bagel selection was limited, plain and onion bagels still were amazing. Great selection of meats and toppings, definitely will be back.
Great bagels!! Had the spinach Asiago with egg and cheddar cheese. The best bagel I’ve had in a LONG time. Friendly service and good coffee too!
First time visitor - Long line but worth the wait. (Tip - call in and place your order to skip the line, especially on Sunday morn!) We bought dozen bagels (get 2 free) and scallion cream cheese, delish! Truly a great NY bagel says this former LI resident and deli lover. Bagel is even great the day after.
Not sure this place understands the purpose of call-in order. It isnt really expedited at all. Two stars are the food is great, but people service is lacking.
Amazing place. Long list of choices in bagels as well as spreads. Do have other pastries as well.Location: Easily accessible. Just off W. Cannon Drive.Cost : Quite reasonableQuality: Better than chain bagels storesTaste: Their spreads are A+Wait times can be a bummer sometimes but its worth it, or be smart and order ahead.Dont forget to get them toasted!!
Fresh and tasty bagels...easy ordering and pickup. A recurring fave.
Tasty bagels! I think the bagels are really tasty,Granted their not the same as a Chicago bagels but hey we’ve got differnt water. Definitely worth checking out! Parking is a bit tight and the next door restaurant is totally over kill and will not let your near their designated wait area.
So Ive never had an authentic New York bagel and dont really know how this compares, but these guys make the BEST bagels Ive had here in Austin. I love their cinnamon raisin one, with plain cream cheese. Not only is the bagel spectacular, but the cream cheese is as well, and I think that makes a huge difference. They put it together like a sandwich and thats usually how I eat them. I wish they had more coffee options (I like sugary junk) but still giving it 5 stars because it is a bagel place and not a coffee place. Staff are really friendly and helpful!
Best bagels in town. I wish they would open a location downtown, because this is way out of the way for me. I recommend it to every person who asks. The place is frequently busy, but you can call ahead for pick up. The prices are pretty standard to what you would expect for a bagel; competitive to Einstein Bagels. A nova lox bagel and a pecan roast coffee is my favorite go-to order.Parking is convenient - Ive never had a problem. The place is small, so when it gets busy the line moves out of the door. Dont be discouraged because it moves quickly.
Well I placed a phone order they said ten minutes. Showed up fifteen minutes later and I still had to wait 20 more minutes. Service is not very good
So yummy and fresh! The sesame and turkey, egg was great! The everything bagel was great with the cream cheese!
A New York bagel place in Austin!!! Can it get any better? Thanks for bringing the best bagels to Texas yall!!!
I love Wholy Bagel and their consistently great food. The bagels are always fresh and theres a wide selection of cream cheese. It gets a little busy on Saturday morning so try to get there early and grab a black and white cookie while youre at it.
We have been going to this place since they opened! And I have to admit, the product has always been exemplary and the staff has always been truly wonderful! there is nothing better on a Sunday morning than one of their bagels!
Good bagels but lines are forever. Hire more people
Love this place. They have Taylor Ham which you can only get in Jersey. They also have cookies and cake from Brooklyn. Made me feel like I was home. Best place I found since Ive been in Austin. Been here 3 years.
Literally the rudest customer service Ive ever had. The cashier was awful. Spend your money elsewhere.
