4 stars for flavor and value. I got the Italiano. This sandwich is as big as my lap! Full of meats and flavor for only $9!!2 things keeping it from 5 stars. I wish my sandwich had either onions or peppers on it! . . . I ordered a side of slaw, it was so sour that I was actually debating if it was even edible and threw it away. It was only $2 and I’m picky about my coleslaw so, whatever.I will be back to try some more, except the slaw.
My wife and I loved the food! First time and she had the ham egg and cheese and I had the Healthy turkey bacon added added avocado. AMAZING simplistic sandwich and shop. Cant wait to try a sub. Reminded me of little NY delis. No BS just over the top bagel sandwich. You the man! My new favorite sandwich shop in Austin. We got their first thing and a bunch of people followed shortly.
I got the Italiano and let me tell you, if this is the best sandwich Ive ever had. I consider myself somewhat of Aficionado when it cone to subs and it doesnt get any better. It was absolutely massive as well for just about same price of a footlong from subway. Highly recommend!
Tried the veggie and scallion cream cheese. Both were really good. If youre looking for NY style bagel this is pretty good, especially for not having the NYC water to make bagels with. Nice crisp exterior with a soft interior.
Just had breakfast bagels and was super delighted! Flavors are on point, leaves nothing to be desired. Skip the big chain places. And go straight to Big City. Will be coming back, thank you for delicious food.
Excellent rueben. Best northeast style deli in this part of Austin. Try the nova lox bagel too!
Highly recommend the Reuben or Pastrami. Founder is from Brooklyn and its sandwich is spot on for a NYC deli style. Bagels are excellent as well but not quite NY style.
Best hot sandwich Ive ever had! The North Austin. The bread is incredible! So good and friendly folks!
Excellent food! Had the Lox with everything and it was delicious/ It was also a great value. I am making it a weekly stop!
Great first experience at this little local deli. I got a footlong sub called The Texan (naturally), a meaty grilled chicken and steak sub, and a bag of Zapps chips that cost around $14, but when I tried to tip extra he kindly insisted that my business was more valuable and he gave it back. Support your local businesses, yall! Ill be back for their excellent quality and probably some bagels next.
I love this place 😍 awesome food! Also always ready when I order ahead. This is def one of my favorites in town!
They state on their website Fresh Iced Coffee. Not only is it not fresh, fresh meaning made in store, they had no iced coffee bottles either. False advertisement.
I have been consistently coming here for 1.5 years, it’s always been amazing. He got 2 new employees I got my usually bec on a everything bagel, the bagel was sooo hard and burnt I couldn’t even eat it, same w my friend who ordered a poppyseed bagel.Disappointed
My wife and I got bagels with lox, they were so tasty and not overly elaborate, which we liked. Their lunch options looked amazing so well definitely be back!
Delish!! We are from Philly and are big morning bagel people and found this bagel shop out first day living in Round Rock! Their bagels are phenomenal and breakfast sandwiches fully remind me of the shops back home! We will be regulars here for sure.
Ive lived in the neighborhood for more than two years, I had never walked into this shop. While I was disappointed with the pastrami sandwiches that Ive had from many trendy restaurants in Austin, I was about to give up, my husband and I went to give it a try out of curiosity. We knew it is the real deal as soon as we walked in, a small place but legit, just like the deli in East and West coasts. The pastrami sandwich was hot, juicy, and full of meat flavor, no weird coleslaw on cold meat or something. We also have tried hot roast beef sandwich (hot, juicy, meaty, caramelized onion, pepper, cheese…omg), bagel and lox, they are just goooood!Very good prices, owner is cool and friendly.TheOCity has brought back hope to my craving for real deli food!
Best bagels and sandwiches 😋 The BLT and roast beef are to die for !
Food was fast and it was the best thing i’ve ate all month. moved to texas from NY and haven’t been able to find a legit bagel spot... this was perfect
I was looking for a different sandwich place, but Im sure glad I tried Big City instead! I got the Reuben and a Triple Decker to go. Oh my goodness! The pastrami is divine!
Great food. Great prices.Wish I could of dine in to take in the whole experience.
A hidden-plain-sight gem. Overlook the rough edges in both appearance and service and you will enjoy the best sandwiches in Austin. I dont say that lightly. This place restored my belief in the Reuben sandwich. Most are anemic and unsatisfying. They think Ill be distracted by the dark marble rye or the house-made Russian dressing. Here, however, they skip the pretense and go straight for the high pile of quality pastrami. Its pure meatbliss to bite into.I make this solemn pledge. I will no longer frequent the inferior JIMMYTHUNDERJERSEY subs if I am in North Austin. Youll repeat it too if you give Big City a try.
The Bagels are Amazing and they make all of them with a generous amount of everything. Yes the owner is extremely rude and aggressive so be ready for that...it doesnt bother me because its his shop so his rules lol. I gave them 4 stars because I dont like over cooked eggs and the eggs always have way too much brown and you can taste the metal of the flat top grill. Some people like that but we dont. Other than that everything else is very very good!!!!!
Best pastrami ruben ever! The owner can be gruff, but he has a noble heart.
I can’t recommend this place enough!! I haven’t been able to make it to the restaurant in person, I’ve only ordered through ubereats every time I eat here but it’s always made fresh, hot and exactly how I like it! Can’t beat the price either- great price for a quality breakfast. My usual is the egg and cheese bagel. So good every time and it’s actually a really big sandwich for only $5. Excellent customer service and I just ordered from them today and they gave me something extra as a thank you :) highly recommend not only for the food but for the customer service.
I’ve loved everything I’ve gotten here. Best bagel shop I’ve tried in Austin!
Im a first time customer and I have to say my sandwich was Great! Ill definitely be back.
No dining in. Owner very business like. I got the Italian which was ok. I believe the meats were high quality.
Great little bagel shop and deli. Im particular about my bagels, and they have some of the best bagels in Austin! Wonderful little mom and pop, neighborhood bagel shop!
What they may lack in ambiance they make up for with the food and service. The Reuben sandwich was huge and one of the best Ive had
Mom & Pop sandwich shop. Owner is an old school customer service type. He wont give you sunshine and unicorn rainbows, but he will make you the best sandwich youve had in a while. Well worth the extra couple of bucks over the normal sandwich chains! The chocolate muffin was great, as well.
These are some serious bagels! I ordered a bagel sandwich with egg whites, onions & peppers, it was seriously twice the size of any bagel sandwich I’ve had. And twice as delicious! Fast & quality service! Definitely recommend!
Mike brings a taste of Brooklyn, New York to Austin with his amazing, fresh cold cut & hot sandwiches and classic bacon and eggs on a bagel! You will not be disappointed!!
The pastrami, egg, and cheese bagel is AMAZING!
Just so good. Solid food every single time.
They have the best bagel sandwiches and very friendly staff.
Weve made the bagel breakfast sandwiches here part of our familys weekend routine. Theyre delicious! Ordering online is incredibly easy. Come for the great food and dont mistake a lack of chitchat from Mike as a lack of appreciation. The man is an efficient machine at making all those orders! Two thumbs way up!
Places is delicious. Texas needs more good bagel places like this. Simply just want a great bagel, no fluff, just a good bagel sandwich.
Rude owner who hates life. Never managed to try the food cause the negative energy in here was thru the roof!
Their bagel sandwiches are delicious!
Went one day for a breakfast bagel. Was great. My sister and I decided to go for sandwiches. Not only was the service great. Owner and his son were very friendly.Had a corned beef my sister had a pastrami sandwich. They were perfect. Best corned beef I’ve had in years. If you are in the area it’s a must try.Enjoy.
The pastrami and corned beef was amazing! It was pretty well served and extremely tasty
Pretty delicious food, fast and kind service! I will return here for another yummy Lox or Omelette Bagel!
Just had the triple decker pastrami, and was the closest approximation to NYC in that I’ve had out here. It was delicious with real pastrami (vs deli slice), delicious condiments and wonderful bread. We will go back often!
Just moved to cedar park and found a slice of heaven!! SOOOO amazing!
YES YES YES YES YES. Finally a real bagel in Austin. Best breakfast sandwich Ive had since NYC. Nothing like a THEC with SPK to bring me back to my Jersey roots. Look at the size of this monster of a breakfast sandwich...double meat, double egg and double cheese. Every other bagel place in Austin charges at least $1-$2 more for much less. I know it doesnt look great in the pic, he forgot the ketchup until after he cut it, so its a bit messy-looking. I dont see a $12 pastrami reuben in my future, but Im sure its fantastic. I will be back way too much for these breakfast sandwiches. Thank God I live nearby to the best bagel shop in Austin. Thank you for coming into our lives, Big City.If I had to nitpick...the bagel was slightly undercooked, it could have used a little more of that delicious and crisp golden brown crust and the everything seasoning was almost all sesame and poppy seeds. But it didnt matter much. Please frequent this place, so it stays open for years to come. Tell all your friends that this is what a real bagel tastes like and costs. I know it looks like an abandoned storefront from the outside, but it is alive and well inside. If they are allowed to do more to the outside or the windows to catch some eyes, they absolutely need to, because you cant tell its open until you walk in. Not to mention, the sign looks like a defunct relic of the 90s (which I kinda love).Thank you, Big City! Ill see you soon.
If you are hungry, don’t plan on stopping by. Order online or expect An hour long wait for a Bagel?!? Are you serious, with 4 people behind the counter. I’ve had four course meals prepared in under an hour.
It’s a an awesome place the owner is such a good person very respectable and the food is made with love. The food tastes great.
Excellent. Just like back in NY.
Highly recommend Big City Bagels. I had the pastrami and egg bagel and it was unbelievable. Can’t wait to try their Pastrami sandwich.
Not sure how this place is still in business. Went in to order some lunch for my wife and I, and immediately when I walked in I was greeted by the owner with a No Walk-ins, online or call ahead only. There was zero signage posted anywhere saying that. I said ok, and walked back to my car to call in and order. After the phone rang for about a minute, I called with my order, and the same guy answered (very rudely) and said Online Orders Only. What!?!? You just said call ahead orders welcome. I told him you just lost a customer and left. A real shame too because I had planned on spending some money at this small business. Guess he didnt need the money! Will never be back.
Oh my freaking lord!!! This is hands down the best sandwich shop Ive ever experienced. My wife and I stopped in after our pediatrician appointment for our son. Best decision ever.... the sandwiches are rich with flavors, the bread is savory, and i immediately want more.We found our new sandwich go-to and pediatrician/lunch routine. If you havent tried this place you are doing yourself an injustice.Absolutely phenom!!!!!
Delicious and healthy food! Bagels are authentic and yummy. Owner on site and very nice.
Hands down fantastic! Huge portions - delicious! Loved the Lox bagel, Saus Egg Cheese humongous! Cant wait to try the lunch! Best bagels Ive had in a very very long time.
Excellent bagels! The owner was very kind, though busy. He even offered my boy a bag of chips, which was very sweet. He was not super talkative but was certainly not rude.
Super delicious at great prices!
Amazing subs. Very much a hole in the wall place that you want to check out. Boars head meat and cheese, combines with the owners special cooking skills make for ab excellent meal that will leave you full all day
Fun diverse menu, something for everyone, big portions, very tasty
Great food, people, prices. Cant ask for more
Best bagel in Austin! So happy I found this place. The bagel was toasty, delicious and chewy just like it should be. I got my usual, sesame bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese. YumAs good as any bagel Ive had in NYC and Ive tried several there. Plan to come back soon and try the deli subs for lunch too.
Great breakfast bagels and not much of a wait!
Delicious, Roasted veggie sub! A happy find after my dance class 😊
One of the best burgers I have ever have. Try their breakfast options as well! Friendly. They also serve hummus made from scratch, and they have salmon locks and pork roll.
The best bagel I have had since moving to Austin. The bagels are fresh made every morning and the owner is super friendly. I moved down to Austin from New Jersey and I can taste the quality that reminds me of home. I also appreciate there is Taylor Ham on the menu which makes the morning breakfast sandwich that much better. I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone that wants a great bagel. I have not eaten lunch here, but they only have Boars Head meats in the case which in my opinion is #1.
Best lil hidden sub and bagel place in town.. burgers are good and if ya love pastrami..mr Mike will fix ya up..little taste of Brooklyn for ya.. tell em shorty sent ya!!
I’ve never seen such a hostile work environment for one that serves food. When I walked in it only took a minute to feel how uncomfortable every guest was. This was in part to a few things. Who I can assume is the owner was the only one working and very busy. I get its a Pandemic and its tough on people. But the way he treated every guest was rough. Stomping around, complaining to himself and guest simultaneously. Horrible experience good food
You want Authentic New York bagels? You want Pastarmi sandwiches that knock your socks off? You want a Pork Roll sandwich to start your day off? Then go here, the food is made with so much love and heart and the staff are the friendliest people you could meet! If youre looking for any of those things, this is the place to go. No exceptions.
Extremely rude owner.
Best bagels in town. Even better they have Taylor Ham.
Simply the best bagel shop in Texas. Owner is from NY, and is like NYC bagels in Austin. Amazing food and hits the spot. We are so lucky to have found this place! The reuben is out of this world.
Really big, really good sandwiches.
Website was malfunctioning so we decided to call and order. The man that answered was extremely rude and kept rushing our order. He had a very demeaning tone because we didn’t know the options available. Then he told us to “hold on” and hung up on us!!! This was our first time attempting to buy from them and we got this horrible customer service. Food looks good, but don’t want to make business with restaurants with those type of employees. Extremely dissatisfied.
Great sandwich’s. Lot of meat on good bread.
This place has the biggest baddest sandwiches. Owner is so nice and makes the best food. I’m coming back. Spread the word.
I will admit this is the best bagel shop in town if you want something that’s close to a nyc bagel. I’m from queens and I love my bagels and I do feel like I’m back at home with the pastrami sandwiches, and being able to say baconeggandcheese In one word with someone else being able to understand me. I will continue going for sure
If you want an awesome sub or bagel this is THE spot. Im fat and hungry and this place takes care of business and the price is right.
Just like home!!!!!!! I felt like I was back in Brooklyn! Bagels were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside!! Bacon and eggs were amazing! The owner Mike is a cool guy! We drove from San Marcos and well be back!!!
This lovely mom-and-pop shop in NW Austin offers a mouthwatering array of bagels, sandwiches, pastries, and salads made with great care and love. I’ve been there every week since they’ve opened and can vouch for the quality of food. But it’s not just the food that draws me in. What makes this shop truly special is the family who owns it. They are among the friendliest small business owners I’ve met and they make you feel welcomed. Worth the trip up North if you don’t live in the area.
Cant recommend enough! The bagel breakfast sandwiches are giant and fresh and so delicious!
Excellent NYC bagels, best lox bagel ever! More lox than you usually get. Subs are fresh and delicious! Best place in Austin for bagels and subs. Had the lox bagel with onions tomatoes capers and cream cheese....and sub with roast beef, cheddar, etc.....wonderful!
My husband came here and told me it was delicious, so I came here and it was exactly that, very delicious! Best Philly cheesesteak Ive had in Austin so far - I wanted to eat two! Very flavorful, perfectly seasoned, not dry at all, piping hot, priced right. I will be going back to try out their bagels and bagel sandwiches. Their cream cheeses looked like theyd be delicious. This is a new business in the area run by new york locals. Definitely hope people come back over and over to this place because it needs to stick around!
Snuck in to grab some bagels on the way home from a drs appt! I love this place their bagels and sandwiches are worth it!
The ONLY things standing between my review being a 5 star is the fact that ALL of the drinks were warm when I visited. Otherwise, this was a fantastic sub shop. Super fresh bread and lunch meat, made fresh to order. I will surely be back soon and often.
Great sandwich...cant wait to try breakfast!
Great local business worth supporting. Their bagels are made in house, and you can taste the difference. Owner is very nice and will make you laugh. Amazing sub selection as well.
