Absolutely worth a visit, and was certainly worth a little wait (appx 40min, Saturday 4:15pm-ish) to eat at this clever & charming cafe.Haley hooked it up w/ several great recommendations, incl. the Pork Meatball Bahn Mí, which was surprisingly light & satisfying. The bread was perfectly soft but w/ a crisp exterior. The red wine, a humble blend that mellowed the spices from the sand-o.Had the Pot de Crème, which was more of a caramel-fudge style, rather than the chiffon whip situation one might find. Very sweet, like a Snickers. I couldnt quite finish it - you could def split it w/ a friend. Oh? You dont have any friends? Well, maybe take a look in the mirror, pally. Ask yourself some hard questions about what it means to *give*, ok, in a relationship? The oat milk cortado was perfectly executed.Cheers!
Wow- as first time visitors, my husband and I loved this spot! We tried the 10A (spring rolls), the 55, and the Bún with pork! I really enjoyed all of the flavors and the atmosphere was so cute. Definitely recommend! Don’t be afraid to try something out of your comfort zone, and always ask for recommendations!
This has been a great place for people who love fusion foods. I go for brunch often on the weekends. My partner usually gets steak and eggs and my go-tos are the woodear mushroom and pork omelet with a side of jasmine pearl tea and french toast. My omelet has a side of papaya salad with a nice tangy sauce. The omelet has the perfect consistency with favor inside and outside of it. The french toast is a amazing for those who love bread. It is thick with condense milk ice cream, fried basil leaves and a blue berry compote. You cant go wrong with this. The tea is really good too. The only caution I would give is be ready to spend a bit of money. The brunch menu ranges between $14 - $18 per dish on average. I will add that it is well worth the money too.
If you are from New Orleans and enjoy Cafe du Mondes beignets, DO NOT ORDER THEM FROM HERE!! These arent even big enough to be donut holes.. I feel scammed. $11 is not worth this.Other than that, the vermicelli and spring rolls were really good. The Vietnamese coffee isnt DYI if you were looking for that experience.TLDR: good, but not good enough for the price.
We booked a table for 8 at 5:30, we’re told it was an outside table but it had a heater. Arrived on time to find out our table was given to another party. We waited for 20 minutes, walked into the bar to order some drinks, bartender rudely told us that there was a server outside to take our order. I replied to the waiter that we’ve been there for 20 minutes and haven’t been approached, “well they’re out there!” was his reply. Walked back out to find no one. Ordered a drink with the hostess. 6:15 the community table is open but they won’t seat us there because it’s “the community” table. Finally get seated at 6:45, the heater isn’t working, my 81 year old mom and 83 year old dad are cold but making the best of it. Immediately order hot tea and pho, all 8 of us order pho. 7:15, our tea arrives, 7:45 the soups start to arrive. My pho is Luke warm and has 4 pieces of brisket. By 8:00 we all have our pho, it’s 50 degrees out and we’re sitting in the dark side of the yard that smells like natural gas. We’re all freezing so we eat fast and get out of there.
Well, the Maguire Moorman group are no strangers to making great restaurants and this one is no exception. If you are a fan of the flavors of Vietnam, you will be right at home here. The french pastries also very good. I recommend the fried spring roll. Their carpaccio is a different take on the dish that you have definitely never had and is amazing. The Singapore Noodles are amazing and the Bahn Cuon will knock your socks off. All of the bahn mi are excellent as well. Go!
Tried the spring rolls, Dan Dan noodles and theFrench Baguette. The food is average but overpriced. Other than that a cute place for a date or a brunch. There is always a huge waiting on weekends, so if possible try visiting on weekdays. And If you want to get some instagrammable content then I recommend this cafe.
The restaurant is very cute and the drinks were great. Flavors in the food were good too, but both the Bun and Spring Rolls were very heavy on the vermicelli. The Banh Cuốn wasnt what I expected (one giant banh cuốn with a very thick outside) but very yummy. Overall, the place is pretty pricey. But I would come again to try the brunch/banh mi
Great food and vibes!! Some of my favorite pho in town :) Also the cocktails are beautiful and delicious
Ordered the Bun (vermicelli bowl) with Roasted Mushrooms, Grilled Tofu andVegan Nuoc Cham and it was delish! It was a suggestion from a coworker and we all enjoyed our meals. It was fresh, made to order, quality ingredients, great flavor combinations and the sauce made it nice tasty and light. I ordered without the peanuts and it still was very yummy.
My boyfriend was skeptical when I suggested going for noodles at 11am, but was immediately on board the moment our first fresh roll came out.I don’t want to boss you around, but I’d STRONGLY suggest this course of events: Go in. Order the spicy meatball banh mi. Die of happiness. Repeat.
LOVE the food here! Super healthy options, and the pho is fantastic. Great location, too. Outdoor seating. Not a pretentious vibe, either. Highly recommended.
So disappointing. I did curbside pick up, ordered a grilled chicken thigh banh min and Viet coffee, I got a firm tofu banh min and iced coffee. The bread is good, its not like a traditional banh mi with crusty bread but its pillow-y soft. Was it worth $18 dollars? Absolutely NOT. (Yall a mom and pop Viet spot has the same thing for $5!)I would try it again, but the service was lacking. Theyre really nice people, but got my order wrong twice. I corrected them, and they still somehow manage to get it wrong, I didnt know till I drove away.
What a delightful brunch i had at this big vintage house-turn-to-be-coffeeshop sitting quietly in the corner lot! The beautiful weather allowed to sit on the big porch on the side or on the front yard/patio. I left felt taken care by our wonderful server Danielle.Intriguing cocktails and food ingredients, the FRESHNESS, and preparation with obvious care definitely inviting to come back. The bathroom was clean and colorful. One less star for parking. @1300 it was challenging to find a free one along the street and i had to circle around to figure out where to park closer since i couldn’t walk too far. Paid parking is on the next lot, with food trailers. You can pay at the machine or by phone.
Quaint, hip, easy and delish. Semi-special occasion date spot.
Mango salad is exactly what you want in this Texas blaze, and to accompany this with a mescaline margarita is divine. The steamed pork buns were delicious as well. The snapper dish was very spicy and on point with it.Definitely will be returning to try other items.Thank you for the hospitality.
First time there today. Its my new favorite restaurant in Austin! Everything about it was excellent from the appetizers to the main dishes. Hot tea and mocca coffee. Wait staff was super friendly and attentive. Cant wait to go back!
Elizabeth Street Cafe is fantastic! The spring rolls were amazing and tasted super fresh! I had the fried rice with red fish. The flavors were great. They do use fish sauce with the fish, so that flavor is present. Next time, I will try it with the steak. My wife had the chicken pho and said it was the best she had. It did taste super! The beinets were the best in the world! Crispy, warm and yummy! I might get 2 orders next time! 👍
Loved the outdoor seating, they use mist to keep you cool even when its hot. Food was excellent and Happy Hour kept our Bahn Mis affordable. Highly recommend for a late lunch or early dinner!
So so good!! Very cute place. Excellent food. Enjoyed the ambiance. Super cute bathroom decor. Nice menu choices. Mimosas were ok.
Cute place and friendly staff but the food is just OK. The bahn mí was dry and very bland and the dumplings were over cooked. Each time I go there I leave feeling a bit disappointed.
Quaint little place with a touch of delicate Asian flair. Ive ordered the steamed rice rolls and green tea lemonade. The outside Cafe has canopy shading small round seatee tables. The green tea lemonade has a tart taste. Not bad, I just diluted it with water. I like my drinks a bit weak. To each and their own. This is one of my elegant go to Cafe now as its close to work.
Most mediocre pho and Vietnamese iced coffee I’ve ever had. The staff was nice but the food was very mediocre
This place isnt meant for Asian/Vietnamese people. If you are, you will be extremely disappointed. No Banh Mi should ever cost 14 dollars. The taste was okay but Ive had 5-6 dollar banh mi that taste the same.Banh mi is my favorite meal, and this is by far the worst and most expensive Banh Mi, Ive ever ate. Im okay if places make their own spin on things, but they are charging premium price for something that was average at best.Shame on you.
Have been enjoying the amazing cuisine at Elizabeth St since they first opened. Comfort food at its best.
I always love almost everything I try on the menu. We got escargot, beef carpaccio, and a few other apps because everything is half off for happy hour. They have a really cute set up as well but it is small and they get busy so I would recommend getting a reservation ahead of time.
Great Pho & coffee as well! They have a cute outdoor seating area and even if it is cold, it is still a pleasant experience. A very cute and nice place to have a quality lunch or afternoon out. Good for photos if you see bring a pretty girl with you. Overall it is worth a visit if you see craving a quality seat down experience for Vietnamese.
Outstanding dinner! My girlfriend and I shared the fried rice with ribeye which was plenty for two and the flavor was amazing. Also had the crispy chicken spring rolls and ginger chili oil dumplings for apps, both so good. To top it off, the pot de creme for dessert was delicious - a chocolate lovers dream. Our server Taylor was very friendly and offered great suggestions, and Steven the manager was super friendly and down to earth. Oh and the cocktails were great too! Would definitely come back!
Delicious food, great cocktails, fast service. Idk, it feels silly to review a place thats so well-reviewed but needless to say, theyve earned every star. I dont think theres anything mediocre on the menu
The pho tasted like spaghetti… super bland, not spicy.
Quaint little cafe, enjoyed the flavorful asian street food sitting outdoors. Spring rolls were excellent. Will definitely revisit this place.
This review is for the lunch and not the brunch which closes at 2 pm. The lunch was ok, I would say definitely overpriced for the quantity and taste. There are plenty of Vietnamese places or Asian fusion places with much lower prices. The service was a little all over the place, they got the spring rolls first and the coffee later because they forgot. Then the food wasnt delivered on time either. I have heard good reviews about the brunch and the French toast but I cant confirm. The Vietnamese coffee was amazing though, and so were the spring rolls. The place is nice and well maintained but I wish the food was better. They also serve bakery items. The twice cooked pork was really salty, definitely avoid that.
The Pho, the meatball, and the shrimp, both are good. Very pleasant outdoor dining experience, staff very friendly. Good concept of Vietnam and French mix. I heard from a friend that the sandwich is very good, too.
Great food and outdoor seating. We had to wait 25 minutes although we had a reservation.
Its pretty good. Can get busy during dinner and weekends. My drink was beautiful. Ive eaten here a couple of times. Thought it was really good the first time that I was here. It was not busy at the time. But the second time I was here the food was just eh. The second time was crazy busy and I ended up ordering my food to go so that may have been part of it.
Super cute place but the food is meh. Fun for brunch
The servers are always friendly and super knowledgeable of what theyre serving. You can ask them anything about the menu and theyll respond with little to no hesitation. I often enjoy going with their suggestions since I can be a bit indecisive. Their carafes are little overpriced, but theyre delicious so still order them. This place is great for any meal. Sit outside if the weather permits!
What a pleasant surprise! We absolutely loved this place. We sat outside because inside seemed stuffy. I loved the mango salad. Great flavor. I was less enamored with the Bahn Mi sandwich. It was good, but I was expecting more based on the reviews. It did have a satisfying crunch. The beignets and jam were out of this world. I order you to get them.
This was an amazingly relaxing and lovely cafe that we came across! We were walking around the area, just kind of exploring, and this cafe is what we came across. We decided to give it a try so that we could rest for a bit and have a light bite to eat.The quickly seated us in a little outdoor patio spot, where the tables were all spaced with ample room from each other. It had a very quaint and charming feel to it, with little pebbles on the ground and cute cushions on all of the seats. We got the wonton dumpling soup, which is one of the appetizers, as well as some of the sake and Vietnamese iced coffee. It was all excellent! The wonton soup was delicious, although I wish it couldve had a few extra dumplings in it. There was plenty of chili and other sauces that I could add to it available on the table. The sake was very strong. So obviously, I loved it! The Vietnamese iced coffee that my partner had ordered was very delicious and strong as well.Service was friendly and engaging - they regularly checked back in on us to give more water and provide anything else that we may have needed.I was very pleased all around with this find! I loved the patio area outside, the service was friendly, and the soup and drinks were all great!I had a very relaxing afternoon here.
I ordered iced Vietnamese coffees and pastries. The pastries were excellent. The Vietnamese coffees were lacking. They tasted like americanos with a splash of cream. Very disappointing. The food looked lovely, will at least try the food next time.
Food poisoning from Their egg and sausage sandwich Never had it this bad before..Update: 9/22/21 Had to go to the hospital due to dehydration and they confirmed I did get food poisoning. 🙃 Ima be less hesitant to try new places now lol.
Chandler was the best waiter we could ask for!! Everything was delicious and accommodating to our liking! We can’t wait to be there again!
Fantastic food and service! Great atmosphere, inside and out. We had the tofu and the flank steak spring rolls, steamed rice rolls, and ginger-chili oil dumplings. And the beignet squares for dessert - incredible. Oh, and the Hirota Martini, with its sesame oil savory flavor, was a nice complement to the rolls and dumplings. I also highly recommend the Jardin de Papillon cocktail.
Exotic menu with tasty food that is beautifully presented and fun to look at. Misters keep heat down for outside dining.
The steamed rice rolls and Dan Dan noodles were amazing! The banh mi and bún bowls were terrible! The cocktails are ok. The restaurant is really cute, and the outdoor seating was nice. Service was decent. Overall, it was a good experience, but this place could be much better!
The service is not that great. But food is great. One time the bartender was annoyed because I asked about the menu. The other time the waitress was trying to rush my party to finish and leave the table. It gets busier for certain hours but I thought it was not move again food is great. I would go for food only.
The food was good, authentic and delicious. The service was great and everyone was very friendly.
This is one of my favorite Austin restaurants. The fusion of flavors and design is hard to beat. From the bun bowl, to the punch, to the espresso creme puff, there are so many favorites on this menu. Whether dining at the cozy tables inside, or relaxing on the patio outdoors, you feel transported. I have experienced warm service on every visit, and feel that the staff does a very good job of managing tables so that the wait is not nearly as painful as it can be at most Austin establishments.
Three stars because the dips which come with poached shrimp spring rolls are great. Cocktails were also pretty nice. Pho very average, spring rolls itself as well.
Great dinner, pho was excellent as were the Shanghai noodles.
Love this place. Go for happy hour and definitely order the dumplings!
All the vegan options here are divine. Making it such a great option to go with a mixed diet crowd
One of the cuties places to have a date night. Supper romantic and all
This was a very charming place. The coffee was fantastic! The dishes were really adorable and they put thought into the decor of the restaurant. Bright and vibrant colors. Very instagrammable. Brunch was delicious, would definitely recommend.
Unfortunately only got Vietnamese coffees and spring rolls, but wish I got to try everything on the menu it all looked so good. The coffee was probably my favorite Vietnamese coffee I’ve ever had. Was seated at the counter and got to witness someone order Pho in 102 heat which was entertaining lol
Favorite Austin restaurant at the moment. Delicious food in a really cute space, with great service on top! Elizabeth St. is good for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Highlights for me are the breakfast Bahn-mi, the Singapore noodles, and the spring rolls!
This place is a joke. They cant handle their business. It might be good food, but you cant find parking. Good luck.
