Ive been a fan of Figure 8 since they opened. Great coffee and tea in an awesome atmosphere. Picnic tables and smaller tables available outside if you want a COVID-safe option.
No speciality lattes and surprisingly few espresso options. The espresso I got was a bit sour tasting. Limited seating inside - tables are much too close for comfort.
#1 Coffee spot in Austin. My favorite places for espresso in Austin are Machine Head, Fleet Coffee, Civil Goat, and Corona Coffee (when Corona had a cafe).I hate to rank the but I cannot deny that Figure 8 has been excellent 100% of the time for the past 7 years that Ive been a customer.
Cute shop. Not allowing cash exchange is elitist. I get why they probably don’t, but if you only accept card, this is problematic for obvious(hopefully obvious) reasons. Consider transitioning back to cash.
I love this cute little coffee shop. The coffee is always a hit. My favorite to get is an iced mocha with oat milk and it’s notable one of the best mochas I’ve ever had. The oat milk they use is so much better than any oat lathe I’ve had at other cafes.
“Only visit coffee shops that begin with the letter F,” was the sage advice I received before checking out Figure 8 coffee Purveyors in Austin, Texas. I normally get Americanos, and for this trip I had two I got to choose from. My Ethiopian deflection had a soft raspberry notes with a wonderful cacao finish. The space was modern while welcoming. Others around me seemed comfortable for better there while they meet with friends or worked on their things they need to work on. I would have gone more if it was more central, but that maybe way it had a local feel to it. So I wouldn’t change that.
SUNMARY: Nice place, good coffee but limited options.Quaint outdoor seating and very kind service. The coffee was good, but the drinks offered are very straight forward with a limited menu (flavored lattes can come only in chocolate or vanilla). Vegan milk options are available, but no vegan foods or pastries (at least not labeled). If you are looking for new or specialty drinks, this might not be the place for you, but the coffee is high quality.
Great coffee by good people. I’ve never had a bad drink here, the people are awesome and they have a pretty big outdoor seating area on the side with power outlets to get work done in the sunshine
The guy behind the counter told me that they don’t use many syrups to cover up the taste of their coffee. I just nodded and thought ‘I’ll be the judge of that.’I got a almond milk latte and he was RIGHT! This is super smooth and ‘fluffy’ latte. It was worth the $5.50 for sure. Also, their focus is on coffee and tea. So not much food here.
Had a solid cup of drip coffee (though it could be a touch cheaper at $3). Had a equally delightful coconut chocolate chip cookie, would have gotten two of em had they not disappeared.Overall the vibe is a laid back, semi-industrial minimalist vibe. Counter space & tables in the front, and a nice back room with more tables a bit quieter. Friendly/chill staff.
This place is great! It has good coffee, and is beautiful on the inside. There is street parking right by the coffee shop. I got an oat milk cappuccino and it was wonderful with beautiful latte art! It also is a great place to chat with friends. I saw minimal plugs so maybe not a great spot for studying/working on the computer.
Always a pleasure. Good coffee, friendly service and Covid sensitive.
Updating my review after my second visit 3 years in the future - still 4 starts for meOverall, the coffee gets a 5, the tea gets a 2.5, vibe gets a 4.5 and service, a 4.Figure 8s coffee beans taste is exceptional. The only thing that would make it better is if they packaged beans in compostable or recyclable packaging and if their beans were at least fair trade (organic would be even better). Understand that they may well be that, but its not easy to find that info.I also get that tea is not the focus, but the iced tea was very watered down.As for the coffeehouse, the inside is small and feels a bit tight, but there is ample sitting both inside and outside. Their shady patio is awesome. I can appreciate that they are trying their best with the small space they have.In comparison to other Austin and greater-Austin area coffee shops, the vibe is not as warm (based on 2 visits). Baristas dont necessarily seem to go out of their way to make you feel seen and heard. Where to wait after you order or where to retain cups/classes is not straightforward. However, the lovely smell of roasted beans is soothing to the soul :)
Great coffees on rotation. Get the drip or the espresso!
Coffee was ok. Didnt have a huge selection of Pastries....basically sold out.
The ginger molasses cookie with the drip coffee is an undefeated combo 👌🏾. Plus the outdoor seating is very nice ✨
Really great people serving really great coffee.Worth the drive across town and a treasure to have in the neighborhood.
I was looking for a local coffee shop on the east side of austin with nice ambiance to work, grab coffee, and meet someone! I just found a new “work home”.As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a super chill and main room with some great Feng Shui! Between the distressed wood and concrete stain it was apparent that the owners paid attention to providing a consistent vibe. You may or may not appreciate that kind of thing…but I do. I feel like attention to design details really helps reveal a lot about how the shops tell me who they are. That being said, it was super cool that the service, education, and quality of coffee matched the vibe! One of the two Ryan’s (one being the proprietor) stood at the register had a huge smile and walked me through their offerings. I selected my “old faithful” a black eye (coffee with two shots of espresso). I was served super quickly - so quickly that I thought something might have been missed. It was not.The wifi -of which multiple were set up - was quick even though there quite a few people sharing the space. And when my friend showed up she ordered a latte and was equally surprised by the deliciousness and beautiful presentation! Sorry I forgot to take a picture of it! It disappears pretty quickly! ;-)I now have a new favorite Austin coffee shop added to list when I work on the east side! Thanks Figure 8 Coffee Purveyors!
Hot chocolates!
I was looking for a quick fix for my morning so I googled coffee shops near me went to the first one didnt find a parking spot😬, so I decided to drive to the next coffee shop and came across this place, and boy Im glad I didnt find any parking space before otherwise I wouldve missed this awesome coffee, One of the bestThanks Figure 8 Coffee
Coffee and baked goods are always on point, the space looks great and is a nice place to work or meet a friend. Music is usually not too loud. Only reason I cant give them 5 stars is because the staff often makes me feel like theyd rather be doing anything else than helping me a get a good cup of coffee. Maybe I just have bad timing, it didnt use to feel that way in there.
Highly recommend this place 👍. I came in to kill some time while in a business trip. The crew here really pays attention to detail in their brewing methods and the drinks are true to form. I would recommend this place to anyone who is a true enthusiast of quality espresso based drinks.
Love this place and the people who work there. They were open on Xmas and it made my day
Figure 8 Coffee is a very cool coffee shop appropriately in East Austin where other cool shops exist. Heres whats to love about it:1) Coffee: Although they rotate their coffee with beans roasted all across the country, you can guarantee its the very best. My morning latte was crafted perfectly and drank very smooth.2) Space: Its beautiful with two large dining areas inside with simple and rustic decorations. There are a few seats outside as well.If you love a good coffee shop for its vibes and coffee, this place is among the best in ATX.
I cannot believe there are any reviews less than 5 stars. This was the most delicious decaf breve I have had. The atmosphere is so cool. Love the repurposed assembly roller table and copper wrapped counters. Just fantastic.
Awesome coffee shop in the heart of East Austin. Ample seating inside and outside. Easy parking along the street. Excellent coffee and quick, pleasant service.
Excellent mocha. Breakfast taco was quite tasty as well.
This is the best, and least pretentious, coffee shop I have found. The baristas are so helpful and kind. The coffee is perfect and the atmosphere is everything a coffee shop nerd could want. Calm and fairly quiet, good ambience, with a variety of seating options including a back room that is great for studying.
They have great coffee, nice food options, and genuinely friendly staff. Currently, you can order at the front door which has been converted into an ordering window.
I love their Ethiopian beans!!
So great. Very nice service. Love the coffee.
Great quick cup of coffee and breakfast tacos! Cool set up, they served filtered drip with $2 refills which is what I had and cant complain. There were a lot of regulars and the baristas recognized them all so thats always a plus
Cold brew so tasty did not need liquid sugar. Great atmosphere, staff friendly... worth the detour to try and very much enjoyed!
Great, friendly service + delicious coffee, cups of water, plenty of indoor seating & few tables outside. Green sauce on breakfast taco was amazing. Loved the service and Veracruz breakfast taco + salsa
Super nice dudes behind the bar— no judgment or coffee snobbery here! The atmosphere is very casual, seating at the bar or around any of the vine-lined windows. It was easy to find street parking and also easy to find somewhere to sit. Shoutout to Leif, one of the baristas there, who is incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. I hope to make it back to Figure 8
Fun environment. Nice people. Plenty of seating. Great coffee. TacoDeli. Cashier with awesome hat. What more could you want?
Figure 8 is, in my opinion, the best coffee shop in Austin.Ive been coming here for 4+ years, and the baristas have always been very kind, welcoming, friendly, and make excellent coffee. The coffee served is consistently very high quality and always enjoyable. The shop is spacious and has a lovely atmosphere. There are two rooms, so if you want a more quiet atmosphere that is always available.Figure 8 is definitely a staple of the Austin coffee scene and will continue to be for many years to come.
Great coffe in a comfortable cafe. Plenty of workspace and enough lighting for us older folks to see. Ill come back here when Im in town again. The Kenyan espresso was bright in my Cortado and my wife gave the iced latte a couple of head nods and said this is good.
Fave coffee shop in Austin! We’ve been going here almost every weekend for the past 3 years and are never disappointed. Always great recommendations and excellent coffee. Their new Figure 8 roasted coffee is bommmb too!
I love Figure 8 for several reasons, but probably my top race is that they offer Four Barrel beans. Such a great choice! Havent had a pour over here yet since the cappuccinos are divine, but the espresso drinks Ive tried (espresso, cap, latte) have all been divine.Theyre also dog friendly! Ive brought my dog in here several times and I think she likes Figure 8 almost as much as I do ;)
They installed this incredible plexiglass ordering station + espresso bar at the front door that really goes the extra mile for safety right now. Its great.
The coffee was awesome. And you can choose from a selection of beans. They have good selection of vegan milks as well. Good neighborly dog friendly coffee spot. Will be going back often.
A nice place for a good cup of coffee. I got a cappuccino, and was not disappointed. These guys know what theyre doing. Parking is somewhat sparse, and you wont be able to find this place unless you look it up. Its not on a main road, but its worth the short detour.
A cute venue. We were split on the espresso, between those of us who loved the sour flavor and those who didnt like it at all.
Really well put together space, picturesque and full of beautiful plants. It is the kind of shop that has regulars, and staffed by the kind of folks that make you want to be a regular. And the coffee is delicious.
Came here on a rainy Monday afternoon which was the last day of my Texas visit, so my mood wasn’t the best. But the atmosphere, the nice chat with one of the guys working there and the great coffee made the day a lot better. I remember the restroom was a bit flooded for some reason. I hope they took care of it!
One of the most aesthetically consistent coffee shops I’ve ever visited, Figure 8 is modern, clean, sleek, and offers a quality product with elegant presentation. The coffee is second to none, and it’s the central focus. There’s no large food menu or smoothie bar, typical at local competitors, which draws your attention to the carefully procured cup of jo in your hands. The music is hip yet soft, making Figure 8 an ideal meeting or date spot. From the exterior, you see limited outdoor seating, and a gorgeous store front with large glass windows, bicycle racks, and hip clientele. If you’re looking for serious coffee and a precisely contemporary ambience, look no further. 5/5
I work in coffee and heard a lot about this place, so I decided to check it out one day and was impressed. Their gear is top notch, the baristas are locked in, the space is vintage and welcoming, and the people here are all regulars, so theres a feeling of family here. They bring in a good mix of interesting roasters that they rotate every few months which keeps choices fresh. Parking can be tough in this residential neighborhood, but not much is metered in the area.
Had a decent vanilla soy latte here. The owners are super cute. The space is just okay -- its pretty small, so not really somewhere that youd hang out all day. That said, its really cute inside and Ill definitely be back. I really hope they succeed.
Best coffee hot or cold. I love the atmosphere plus they are cool if I bring in my tacos to eat while I drink my coffee. Ive had their baked goods and they are delicious. If Im in the mood for tea I get a half hibiscus and half black tea. Its my favorite place in austin. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.
My new favorite coffee spot in Austin! I love the way they decorated the place: the mirrors...one which is supposedly haunted, the industrial look, even the light fixtures. The owners Ryan and Kathleen are super nice and make some mean coffee.Their Iced Vanilla Latte has this nutty taste which I like. The price is reasonable too. My friend got the regular Vanilla Latte and said the coffee art was the prettiest shes ever seen at any coffee shop. =]Theres plenty of street parking on Chicon St. Ive so far been able to find seating in the shop, but I predict this place will become very popular soon. But that wont stop me from coming!
Great coffee here.
Best coffee in town! Super sweet and cool staff and hip interior with flair. Great place for an early stage date. Espresso ~$4
Best iced latte I’ve had in a while, and really couldn’t have asked for a more practical and comfortable space—thanks guys!
Charming coffee spot. Dont miss the tranquil backyard!
Great coffee! Super friendly atmosphere! The wifi was subpar though kept booting me off every time I opened a new tab so I had to set up somewhere else 😟
Excellent macchiato. The place is small and gets fairly crowded, but there is outdoor seating and the crowd is pretty friendly. If you dont mind the European-style sitting with strangers scenario, youll score a spot pretty easily. Parking is street-only, and the neighborhood looks a bit sketchy, but that is not unusual for Austin. They are not selling beans by the pound at this time, but there is hope that they will in the future.
Cold brew is great
Cool space, had a breaky burrito, was OK but the coffee was too weak for me, I like a darker roast and the drip was super light not really my thing.
This remains one of my favorite coffee shops in Austin. The coffee is incredibly perfect and fresh. The atmosphere is clean and intriguing. To top it off the music selection is right in line with the whole vibe of the place everytime thar I visit.
This coffee bar is very chill and low key. A great place to work remotely.
Beautiful, and quaint place with a wonderful group of people that greet you with that Texas charm, and southern hospitality. Loved it, and look forward to going back to more often during my stay in Austin.
This is a great coffee shop. They have a selection of coffee and espresso options, and the baristas are knowledgeable. They did a terrific job with my Cortado and Latte. If youre in the Rosewood area, or just looking for a coffee to go with your bagel, you should give Figure 8 a try.
This place has things figured out. Theres more to slinging beans than fancy equipment. I cant define the difference but I can taste it. Every time I visit a new city I try all the coffee shops.
Since my friend I was catching up with is a critical reviewer and chose this place, it deserves its good reviews. We enjoyed a nice mild sunny day outside with tea catching up here. Allowed dog outside. Very east Austin, what is left of old Austin.
What a great little cute boutique neighborhood coffee spot. LOVE IT! Model face was working behind the counter and LOVE IT!
Really great coffee and excellent environment. One of the better places to get work done while also enjoying the ambiance.
Worth the drive!
Good lattes
Not loud even when its full of people. Really serene outdoor seating out back and in front. Coffee choices are all great and my cappuccino was perfect.
The coffee is great and the baristas are nice. Its also a great place to study or to just hang out at. Theres plenty of open space and a large patio area. Also, they have a nice simple menu!
First latte I ever tasted that I didnt need to put sugar in. Beans were perfectly roasted. Great balance and made with cold clean water. Hands down the best latte in Austin.
I originally had this at 3 stars, but after a bunch of retrospect, I think its a 4.5 stars. Which on the Google rounds up to a 5.Why? Because its my least favourite of the Eastside F-Shops. Theres no one thing that makes it less for me, but compared to the other three its just not my cup of joe. However, it didnt deserve the 3 Stars I had originally given the store when I compare it to everything else in Austin. Would I first pick this for myself? No. Would I recommend this above everything but 3 other stores in Austin? Absolutely, so I guess being the 4th best in a city probably deserves appropriate ratings! Also, for fellow Australians: I can drink the coffee, that says more than 99% of the US coffee scene.
Fantastic, no frills coffee shop to get some work done with quality coffee. WiFi is reliable, and plenty of seating near outlets.
Been in at least a dozen times over the years and never a bad experience. Great cappuccino
Great place for coffee. Latte was on point and customer service great. They make you feel at home even if you are clearly a tourist.Beautiful spot to be in.
Great atmosphere. Real laid back
