Excellent place. Great hot chocolate, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast tacos are great (though Ill warn my meat-loving friends, the tacos are vegan). Well worth 5 stars!
Beer selection/ Happy hour- amazing ($3 pints? Sign me up! At time of writing till 3pm weekdays only I think)Atmosphere- really good mix of productive and social vibes (at least during the day) facilitated by their spread out tables with outlets and different seating arrangements.Space- pretty cool vibe. Can get pretty warm during the summer bc they dont run AC (at least not the two times Ive visited).Staff- knowledgeable and friendly!Side note, they always have the best things on their projector, birds a feeder, corgi puppies sleeping, just great background to have on :)
Great selection of na beveragesAnd awesome beer selection. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Try the Gatorade in tap if you’ve never had it before.
Delicious coffee product. Friendly and helpful staff. Cool atmosphere
Absolutely amazing vanilla cold brew made vegan with oat milk! Staff is super nice! I will visit again next time Im back in Austin!
Awesome place to get some schoolwork done, hang out with a friend or by yourself. Coffee is great and I cant think of another place that served alcohol at the same time, if thats to your tasting. They also have outside seating which I prefer to be honest. There are plugs all around so, you can hook up your gadgets. Lastly, they have food which is great! If you found this review or pic useful, please leave a like.
A great spot to grab a cup of coffee or a latte and relax on the side patio outside with all the Covid precautions. The patio has a nice shading cover so you don’t have to sit in the sun. It’s first come, first sitIn addition to great coffee drinks and pastries, they have a pretty decent beer list and bar code beer lists listed at each table.I’ll be back!
Super chill place in the yard.Stumbled in this looking for coffee. Great service and staff, make a good cup of coffee. They do their own beans in house a couple times a week and the smell is crazy good.I didn’t drink beer, but that have a hh special every afternoon and even have Gatorade on tap.
Food was pretty good and service was quick. The chicken and French toast (uniquely blended of French toast). Interesting taste, but delicious. Strawberry lemonade champagne also had a nice kick. 8/10 would try them again.
My new favorite spot… vegan tacos are on point. Great cold brew. Chill atmosphere
Redeye and half a lemon pound cake (gotta watch those calories!) is a fine mid day snack. Great to see this place still open and doing well. Watch out for construction but parking is still just fine.
Disappointed driving all the way over and not being able to order food. It is a funky hipster atmosphere so... If youre in to that.
Loved the setting and the taste of my drink! I just think it was a little pricey after some customizations compared to other local coffee shops. But the location is great and atmosphere is cool. I also wish they stayed open past 3 pm on Sundays though (hopefully that’s temporary and not the norm).
Went there at 2pm, not many people, prolly missed the rush, it was something different, coffee tasted surprisedly good, enjoyed their atmosphere.
I don’t even live that close to this coffee shop but it’s still the only one I go to. I love this place because it has cool vibes and a huge projector that’s always playing something interesting. You can tell the Baristas *really* know their stuff and the coffee is delicious. My partner always gets an Americano, a drink where the coffee flavor has nothing to hide behind, and it’s always incredibly flavorful. The area is a good place to relax on a sunny day. Also, something that means a lot to me these days, is making sure my coffee isn’t grown by people who are basically slaves. This coffee shop only buys coffee from growers who are paid a fair living wage which I love.
I love the free coffee with purchase of a bag of beans.
Cold brew was excellent! And the last gluten free muffin a perfect pairing for late afternoon work with sunlight streaming pleasantly theough the open air garage wall of this awesome coffee/food/bar. The live music that night (Corrine Bates) was an awesome vibe with sunset colors visible over the warehouse neighborhood. The wall art and vibe was an industrial comic.
Very cool place. Solid Wi-Fi and coffee. Good atmosphere.
Such a great spot to work/study! Also, the golden Chai with Oat Milk is to die for! @estelle.gaither
Great people! One of the best lattes Ive had too.
So glad I found this place tucked away in South Austin. Its one of the first establishments in The Yard, an up-and-coming urban shops and restaurant scene. Fast and very friendly service, but I think they still have some improving to do on the food front. Their restaurant is BEAUTIFUL and very creative. Will definitely go back for happy hour to sample their abundant draft selection! They left me wanting more.
Had the cold brew on tap, delicious!
Yet another gem discovered in SOCA. Outstanding espresso drinks, chill, original, vibrant. Part of the Yard, a mixed-use warehouse district.
Cute spot popular with locals in an odd spot off SoCo. I asked for medium sized, medium roast and was told they had dark only today. Ok. Cup was small, guy said they only had small. I settled on a croissant due to not overly vegetarian friendly menu.Coffee was great and croissant was fresh and flakey.I was between 3 and 4 stars due to my strike outs however everything was tasty and atmosphere is fab!
Love the vibe of this place. Friendly and welcoming staff, lots of workspace, lots of parking, and they have Califia Farms oat milk. The coffees good too.
I visited this place for the first time last week and thought it was amazing. The atmosphere is very chill/laidback and a mix between cowork & coffee shop. The interior design is unique! There is a TV that is built-in but the border is painted on the wall. Very cool.Food/drink-wise, the chickpea salad was delicious. They had a special drink called Meow and it was also very good. I loved that they tried to make a paw on the top of the drink. I honestly cant wait to visit this place again. It was a great experience!
This place is the best. I don’t mean that like I’m 20 and everything is the greatest. I mean, where else can you enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, good beer, and good people. So yeah, just go and enjoy your life there with the amazing art on the walls and good choice of beer that the owner obviously chooses specifically so your visit isn’t a joke. It’s all around the best time.
Not a lot of food options within the cafe but there are places nearby
Good coffee. It should be noted they no longer serve sandwiches.
Always love coming here! Great atmosphere coffee and food. Outdoor seating now too! And next to a few other great local businesses to check out :)
The best cortados in town. The Mexican Mocabe is our absolute favorite bean. Beer selection is top notch and staff is always friendly helpful. We love our neighborhood coffee shop!
Fantastic craft beer selection and amazing coffee. Never left here disappointed. Staff was helpful and really chill vibes.
I love being able to purchase freshly roasted beans, it makes such a difference. Spokesman has been a reliable source for supporting my socially acceptable chemical dependency. ❤️
If youre having a difficult time finding an Austin authentic, yet new hangout spot, you have to check out this coffee joint. Coffee is still a passion here and they get it right. Im going tomorrow to see them roast the beans. Cant wait to smell the coffee from down the road on the way there tomorrow. Always support business, specially the good ones like these guys!
Very unfortunate that the inside is not open right now. I think that is probably a big party of the experience. I was disappointed in the size of my cappuccino (I think it was less than 8oz). Was expecting more. It tasted good, though. The lemon blueberry scone was nothing to write home about. Definitely not fresh. And, like most scones in America, not a true scone. I will definitely come back when it opens back up completely, to get the full experience.
Best coffee Ive tasted in Austin, accompanied by the nice relaxing atmosphere
Glad Spokesman is open again. Miss going. Great little drink spot that has some side tables on the side to grab drinks and enjoy outdoor. Still no indoor seating due to Covid, but better some good beer than no beer.
Really love this place. They have a great beer, wine, tea, and coffee selection for those looking for a nice time to chill out with some friends. I also love the industrial 90s vibe of the mural and graffiti work.My only criticisms are:1. wishing for a more well-rounded food/snack/app menu that isnt just sandwiches and salads, but this isnt a deal-breaker2. better climate control inside. Its been great during the fall and winter but in the summer its difficult to stay comfortable
I went here for the first time at the suggestion of some friends; what a unique place this is. I started off with a fantastic espresso drink, then graduated up to a pretty decent selection of local brews. While were there, three different performances ran; It was such an eclectic mix of sounds. There was a reggae show, and then some teachers were doing a hip-hop/rap type of show, and then it finished with what I would call techno tejano for lack of a better term as there was an amazing couple dancing to the sound.Seating is limited, so definitely arrive early to claim your space as the size of the crowd quadrupled within an hour once the music started.overall it was a great night of drinking and music that kept me intrigued the entire time; We were only supposed to be there for an hour and stayed for four. while it was my first time at the Spokesman, it will definitely not be my last.
Ive been buying coffee from this place religiously for years. The staff is always killer and the taps are stellar.
Wow, what a nice wall of taps! Great place to go try all the new local brews. And theres coffee too. And the mural art. Grown up fun.Food is so-so. Okay for a remote work spot. Best for chilling with a friend.
Chill coffee and beer. I like the alley feel of it. Ive only been during covid, but the outside is great.
Spokesman is one of my favorite coffee shops in Austin! Their entire vibe is great, it makes me feel like Im in New York. Their music is on point, their pimento dip is to die for & their espresso is great. Ive stayed there from my morning espresso to my happy hour beer on top, which I love.
The cold brew is some of my fave. Friendly people, good coffee, a couple tables outside in the shade.
Coffee!? Beer!? Sandos!? Ivan!? Love this place!
Love this place! Stopped in on a whim after searching for coffee shops in South Austin - - I just wanted a place to write and drink tea for the afternoon (highly recommend the Turkish mint). On top of that, I was introduced to the welcoming staff, delicious sandwiches with pickled sides, and some of the best chocolate chip cookies Ive had. Spokesman has a great vibe, with good music playing, and you can still comfortably carry on a conversation. Ill definitely be back!
Love that this place is in my neighborhood! Also that you can ride your bike there and hang it on their rack instead of having to park and lock. I love the toasted sandos (chicken salad add bacon is my favorite) and they have good coffee and tea, great beer selection and offer wine as well. Great place to get some food or coffee and some work done.
Their 1 and 1 is a must have if you like coffee! Its an espresso shot paired with a cortado, plus sparkling water to cleanse your palate between the two. Its a great thing to order because it allows you to fully experience the flavor range of each coffee! Their mural art is really fun, and during the day, the skylights make it a great place to hang out and read.
Wonderful vibe and fantastic cold brew. The beer, cider, and wine selections are always well curated and, while limited, the food is consistent and delicious. Service staff is super helpful and more than willing to walk you through all of their offerings. Drop in to do some remote work midday or for their wonderful programming in the evenings. Always a great time.
Great prices and good selection of rotating tap beers. Now my second time at Spokesman and it has impressed again. Happy Hour, coffee, and beer; just the things you need with friends.I was a fan of the atmosphere, its a little 90s grunge mixed with modern warehouse designs. If youre vegan they have a chickpea salad sandwich that is a generous size and very tasty! Nice that a bar outside of downtown actually has vegan options.
Adding this place to my favorites list! Very cool deco. Hidden gem with lots of character tucked away in South Austin. Awesome patio area and spacious on the inside. Clean restrooms. Fresh brewed iced tea, several beers on tap as well as cold brew coffee - my favorite. Oh and they roast their own coffee beans. Great place and staff is genuinely friendly and knowledgeable.
Incredible atmosphere and diverse selection of local beer and cider. Staff were friendly, funny, and inclusive. The whole bar was talkative and laughing for hours. Thanks for letting an outsider feel welcome in Austin
Great little south Austin place. I go here often and highly recommend.
A creative, relaxed, and original cafe / brewery not quite like anywhere weve been! Great place to get some work done, even in the evening. Tasty beer too!
Great spot to hang out and work during the day, grab a beer at anytime, or to stop in and grab a bite to eat. Their food menu is small but their sandwiches are killer. Ask for the bread lightly toasted unless you want to cut up the roof of your mouth. I don’t drink coffee but everyone at the office does and I haven’t heard a single complaint.
1-YEAR LATER UPDATED to 5 stars: They can now do larger drinks and theyve added more seating and outlets along the edge.Pros: BEST lattes in town (believe me, Ive tried them all), GORGEOUS interior wall art, music is fun...just a cool vibe. Delicious drinks and sandwiches, open all hours. Amazing yoga class in back room Sundays at 12pm. Bench seats are VERY wide so super accommodating for larger bodies (see photo)Cons: No outlets for the tables in the center! Espresso drinks are small...maybe Im crazy. (see update, not anymore)Overall 5 stars, very cool!
The atmosphere was great, service was prompt and the servers were nice. My wife didnt like the taste of the strong brew iced coffee. But, thats just one of the many selections.
Great coffee. Great atmosphere. Go back in the evening for some solid beer choices from the tap. Also good bottle selection.
Great joint for remote work! Usually these places keep the temp super cold. It was perfect! The staff are incredibly friendly, the beer selection is on point, food is good, vibes are on the level.
