Good place and good aesthetics. However the wait time was too much (almost 50 min) and the price was to much for the actual milkshake ($15)…everyone is saying it’s worth it for the jar you get to keep but let’s be honest you can get a jar like that anywhere for much cheaper. In terms of actual taste it was mid, definitely have had better ice cream. Also it becomes very messy because of the amount of stuff they pile on. I like the all the toppings, just can get a little too messy.
Pretty good milkshakes, and they are presented very nicely. However, it tastes more like flavored milk with a few little chunks at the bottom of whatever specialty milkshake you chose. The straws are too skinny and those chunks get stuck. I will probably go back and just try the ice cream instead. The milkshakes werent as good as I thought they would be.
Loved this place! They were busy but took orders quickly and still managed to not make us feel rushed. They were upfront that it would take them 20-25 minutes to serve our order. Worth the wait!! The praline pecan was fantastic, the waffle cone also great! Chocolate ice cream was yummi ( my picky daughter).
Ordered the cookie dough delicious and it definitely lived up to the name. This place is a must try and what’s even better, you get to keep the super cute mason jar as a souvenir if you desire (there is a cleaning station so you don’t have to take a dirty jar in your car).Note: be prepared to wait no less than 20 minutes or so.
“My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard....”Ha! I can only wish but this place is definitely a great place to bring anyone! They had ran out of milk when we got there so we all just got a bunch of ice cream & a jar of cookie dough. The ice cream tastes so fresh (I can’t even explain it) and absolutely delicious! They have so many flavors it’s really hard to choose!Because of covid, in door dining is closed but there’s plenty of seats outside!
Fantastic!!!! SO many options and flavors available, cute decor, friendly staff and great customer service. I was able to try the s’mores & unicorn milkshake which consisted of cotton candy flavors!! So delicious and for just $15 each you can also keep the cute glass mason jar. I will definitely be back soon! 😋
Absolutely terrible experience on Saturday night. Unacceptable. Seems like they have shortage of staff or I don’t know. Only one girl is doing the job. In 30 minutes of waiting the line didn’t move at all so we couldn’t even order and had to leave without any ice cream. Our toddler was devastated. Generally prepare to wait more than an hour to get that ice cream as the sign there said that there will be more 30-40 minutes wait after ordering.Update: went again on Sunday as kids wanted badly. Before 3pm there was a 25 minutes wait and no line at the front, so we were able to order immediately and go to H&M for 25 minutes. After 3pm there was a line at the front door.So our Sunday experience was ok, the ice cream was beautiful and tasty.
Pro:The idea of the place and concoctions were visually enticing. Con: I did not see anyone clean or sanitize the outside tables. It was steadily busy and messy inside. They are so busy Im not sure how the employees would have time unless the owner created a position that was specifically for cleaning. My peanut butter ice cream was very faint in taste. And the brownie on top just crumbled to pieces😑 $11 in a cup (like a pint of ice cream though) or $16 with the glass😳. Im good. Always wanted to try it and now I have.
We went for date night and there was 1 person working which normally I wouldnt care but he seemed to HATE his job. The prep counters were horribly dirty, and he would not acknowledge any of the customers waiting and overall the atmosphere was miserable. After waiting about 15 minutes we left and went to another ice cream place in Rock Rose!
First time coming..got the Salted Caramel Banana Pudding milkshake (one of the flavors of the month) and it was delicious!!! Great customer service! There was a little wait but thats expected on a Friday night. Would definitely come back whenever Im in town!
The ice cream was good, but it took a very, very long time to order. About 30 minutes. Then it took another 30 minutes to get our ice cream. And it would have taken longer if we hadnt gone in to check how they were doing. They were severely understaffed.
Absolutely zero customer service, no explanation for whats on the menu, out of half of the items and the girl behind the counter was extremely rude when we asked a question, would go 0 stars if it was possible
There was just a long wait and I pray for the young lady that was by her self behind the counter. SHe just needed some help. I felt that was a misleading thing to do to your patrons as well. Your product and selection while delicious and exciting even. It looses its lust when you see how much it cost for thr time and service it takes to recieve.
Was told it would take 60 min for them to make a scoop of Ice cream. Yes I said a scoop. They were standing right next to it and focusing on telling me the wait time on it. She could have been done by the time she was finished telling me it was over an hour wait. Not going back to even try.
Delishhh on every level! If youre ready the sweet delicacy of a sugar coma and creativity, its worth the wait for these delights here to be made!
Good selection of delicious ice cream and shakes, but the pricing has transcended craft or even boutique. It’s the type of place I enjoyed because my wife and kids enjoyed it, but I’d never go back because we already checked the box.More about getting the pic for IG than anything. The hype causes lines, but overall it’s worth the wait to do once!
Store manager needs to step in with a better syste. They kept taking over a dozen orders before completing one. It took 35 minutes to get the milkshake and it sat in the counter getting watery while they did all the orders at once instead of what they could handle.
Decadent desserts that are works of art. Had a hard time trying to decide which milkshake to pick, so I will have to make another stop. Very tasty, but be careful for a major sugar rush. Worth the stop.
Air conditioning was broken felt like a sauna. Had 15 year olds working. Took thirty minutes to get two milkshakes. They were the consistency of water. Way to expensive for what you get. Horrible all the way around. Save your time and money.
15 dollar shake for meh ice cream and toppings from HEB. The markup is crazy. If you offer a worker 10 bucks while waiting in line, they will take your order and run you out a shake skipping the line and saving you time and money.
Driving a little over an hour to get their milkshakes was worth it, I cant explain how good the milkshakes taste so youll have to go there and try it yourself. There is a slight waiting time, but when you get the milkshakes/ice cream, itll all be worth it.
Ive debated on writing this review but here it goes.We have ALWAYS loved the yard but we went on Wednesday night, only one small group of three ahead of us amd two couples waiting off to the side and waited 20 minutes for two one scoop icecreams in a bowl with sprinkles.. ..I was so ready to ask for a refund and just leave. It was exactly 7p.m. when we got there, 7:20 whwn we walked out. On top of the huge delay I didnt even get my drink I paid for.I get things are tough due to staffing all across the board but man watching those kids attempt to scoop ice cream made me cringe. I understand why it was taking so long.. Please for the love of god teach them how to scoop ice cream. And that time is IMPORTANT. Scooping should take seconds!
Another victim of the pandemic, the service at The Yard is beyond slow resulting in a melted milkshake that was soupy before we had a chance to even try it. On top of the slow service, the orders are often inaccurate according to the description on the menu. If you decide to give The Yard a try, go with an abundance of time she patience to give.
Ice cream and shake was great but I don’t know if the 30min wait was worth it. I don’t know why it takes 30min to make my waffle cone with 2 scoops of ice cream. Plus the cashier lady was pretty rude.
Overpriced for what you get but it is a fun experience! Docking a couple stars for the quality of the “toppers,” I’ve had the chance to try about 7 different shakes and any with a brownie or donut or seemingly other baked good on top are not good, the baked good is very stale and sometimes too tough to even chew. Other shakes with cookie dough or different toppers are really delicious! It’s fun and inventive, but not the best for the price you pay.
Not worth the wait! we were told 15-20 min wait after we ordered (waited for about 15 min in line before ordering) and we ended up waiting 50 minutes! Then when it came, our order was wrong and they told me we had to go back to the end of the line for us to remake it!!!! No thank you! horrible service, the employees were so flustered and could not figure out how to problem solve. Very disappointed
Shakes are good. owners might consider trying a bit harder than leaving two 16 yr olds to run the entire place on a busy 100 degree Saturday afternoon. $10-15/ milkshake, shouldnt have to wait 30+ minutes.
The employees were great, the ice cream was fun. You arent permitted to eat inside. The tables on the outside were dirty. The walls to the Yard were dirty, the door was dirty, and the air outside smelled like vomit. Others came outside and decided not to use those tables and walk to a neighboring area.
All the amazing marketing and cool pictures mean absolutely nothing if you have zero customer service. My kids were so excited to come here. No one really acknowledged us when we went into the store. There were three people behind the counter talking amounts themselves. We had to explicitly state we were ready to order and were then told to move along and that we were in the wrong spot of the store to order. We only ordered two scoops of ice cream and one fancy pint thing. I am writing this as I am a still sitting here waiting for this to be ready. 23 minutes later. It’s not even busy.At this point it doesn’t matter what it tastes like. We will never be back. Casual dining restaurants can cook a meal for 5 people about 6 minutes faster than this.
If u want enjoy an ice cream dont come here, they take a while around 50 minutes for 2 cones insane!!
My bf and I went in on a Sunday afternoon to get a cup of ice cream. Since there was no line and not a single customer ahead of us, I was expecting it to be a quick in and out. Wrong! We were told it would take 30-45 for a milkshake/cup of ice cream! I can maybe understand for the long wait, if we were ordering a specialty milkshake, but we just wanted a scoop of ice cream!!!
I believe we came during rush hour. Be prepared to wait. Pick up a menu at the door to help you choose from countless toppings because the posted menu is hard to see. You can ask for samples if you’re not sure about a flavor. These treats come in pint size mason jars. Fun and cute. There’s a wash sink for you to clean the mason jar to take home as a souvenir. My biggest complaint is my shake seemed more like sweetened milk. Under the whipped cream and ball of cookie dough was a soup of “ice cream”. I almost wondered if they added any ice cream to my shake at all. For $15+ I had higher expectations of flavor. But as I told my kids... it’s the experience. Where else can you go and get a giant shake with crazy toppings?
Absolutely great ice cream selection and all staff members were super friendly and greeted us. Offered a sample to test drive some flavors. Met Amy (she is a very pleasant lady).Definitely will be back:)
The quanity that I got for my food to be so expensive did not make sense to me. I ordered the shrimp and chicken salad and i only got 3 shrimps. All together the food just wasn’t appetizing to me I don’t think its worth the money.
Our experience was a huge bummer. We waited 15 minutes to get to the counter to order and were told it would be 25-40 minutes for anything we ordered, including a single scoop of ice cream. We left immediately, knowing there are dozens of other dessert places all around us. We walked outside to a group of weeping toddlers whose parents were trying to console them because they too weren’t able or willing to wait almost an hour for their scoop. It was pretty sad. As we stood nearby I saw a dozen groups leave for the same reason. Oof. Maybe get more people in the back working on the orders? Just kind of unbelievable for the orders to be that backed up.
I’ve been so excited to/ try one of these shakes but I doubt I’ll ever go back. Two times I’ve visited and both times we entered we were immediately and curtly told that the wait was 30-45 minutes. No welcome, no apology, just an annoyed notification that if we want a shake we’re going to have to wait.
Only one person working there when we showed up, so it was a bit of a wait. But we werent in any hurry anyway. 2 shakes between the 3 of us were ordered. They presented beautifully! One of them had a doughnut on top of the glass, and we topped further with whipped cream and assorted delights. Both were quite tasty, and very filling. The shake itself wasnt as thick as all of us were hoping for, but, still quite yummy! Very filling.
My family and I loved! The milkshake was delicious, highly recommend, recommend napkins if you have kids! The customer service was great as well!
Unique place to grab a sundae or milkshake. Pretty good but far too expensive. A quart size mason jar sundae was almost 16 dollars. My kids enjoyed it but Ive had far better, and cheaper, ice cream elsewhere.
They don’t provide ice water on request. He just pointed at the water bottles and said that’s all we have. The ice cream that we paid $15 dollars was fully melted. Won’t go back to this location.
Somewhat pricy butt delicious. Got the Salted Caramel Cheesecake! I feel like an ice cream alien is going to climb out of my belly, Im stuffed! Would go again but as a special occasion. Menu writing is super small but thankfully they have some menus at the register. The place isnt very big, not much seating inside. Went around 9pm and there was no line and only another couple inside. I would recommend. You also get to keep the Mason jar that the milkshake is served in.
Good shake and large portion. Wasn’t ground breaking for the price but would go back with out of town guests who want something sweet.
Is the half gallon overpriced at 50$? Well yes but its worth it. I feel like I can only finish a pint anyways so Im not too concerned about that. 15$ for one of the best presented and tasting Milkshakes? Yes please. I dont normally do 5 stars but this store earned it. Good job and I look forward to coming back and/or visiting your other locations. One thing I would change after thinking it over, a no topping no mess shake would be appreciated for to go instances.
We went on a Friday night so the wait was about an hour total with the line outside and time it took after ordering. But for this place, it is so worth it! The milkshakes were delicious! They are super sweet, but they have a ton of options and youre able to customize your own milkshake so if you arent into the super sweet stuff...you can change that! I will definitely be back next time we are in Austin!
Awesome. So many choices of flavors.
Great place to meetup with friends. Outdoor seating and epic milkshake!
Went to this location on a slow day. There were 2 people outside already eating ice cream. Not 1 person waiting inside or outside of this shop, but the lady told us it was a 45 minute wait for a milkshake. No explanation, zero customer service. Will never even try to come back, especially for a $15 milkshake. Went to another ice cream shop in the Domain and had a much better experience for much cheaper which took less than 5 minutes!
My daughter and I stopped in yesterday. There were 2 other people in line who left empty handed. We moved up to the counter and about 30 seconds later the person working turned around and VERY stressed and ruffled said, “it will be 30 minutes before I can take your order.”I’m sure these fancy milkshakes are hard to make and we would have expected to wait to get our order, but this seems like a bad system if you have to wait 30 minutes to order!!
While the ice cream was great, it took roughly 50 minutes to receive 1 ice cream. There was a sign that mentioned a 30 minute wait after ordering, but 50 was a little excessive.
My daughter wanted to try this place for her 14th birthday. Thankfully we went at a time where there was only a short wait. I do agree with other reviewers about the lack of organization and flow when ordering, and the place did need a good cleaning, but the manager was AWESOME. She was fun and friendly and took great care when making our shake. We got the mermaid one and it was SUPER sweet and definitely a novelty dessert with a high price tag($16) but it was a fun experience and Im sure well be back.
Terribly long lines. Let people know how long it’s going to be
I waited 45 minutes twice and paid $60 for ok ice cream and crystallized cheesecake.
Ice cream was delicious but service was a long wait
Pricy, but if you want something unique try it out!
Broken freezer, restroom out of order. $15 small shakes. Not worth a dedicated trip.
Its been an hour and Im still sitting and waiting for my order
A 50-55 min wait time. Only two employees at a very busy shopping center is ridiculous. I wish I saw the wait time sign when I walked in but the line was to the door.. The sign should be displayed when you first walk in not at the register after you place your order.
On our families must go to place everytime we visit Austin. Some of the greatest shake ever created. They can get slow when busy and currently no indoor seating or waiting due to covid (plan accordingly)
If you take the specialty items you take the glass jar with you. I think thats why they are lil expensive for a milkshake😅 I would say it one time place.
I had the banana pudding cheesecake sundae and it was AMAZING!!!
🍧The milkshakes taste delicious. Always fresh and made right in front of you! The only thing I dont like is that there milkshakes are very expensive ranging from 12-15 dollars for one🍨
Epic in every way, My daughter gets the dairy free option so they do have something for everyone in the menu. Bring your appetite because wow. My favorite so far is the Carmel Praline one. So much yummy in a super cute keepsake glass.
Great milkshake but spendy.
No management to keep customers in order. So while we were headed to spend upwards of $30-40. after tax and tip...we were skipped for a $4.00 sale.Skipped...Will not go back
