Couldnt ask for more. Great experience. Proactive about insurance and cost, and mindful of patient needs. Able to book online and make an appointment when I needed. Through the whole process, the staff was on point. Andy assisted the doctor, and Chris, Stephanie & the other customer service personnel were legit, professional, & friendly. Dr. Belleville is extremely knowledgeable and I could talk at length about how she does everything right as a health care provider. I would imagine many more people would rate them 5 stars out of 5-- but, they are an eye doctors office, so keep in mind the accessibility and barriers to written online reviews for people with visual impairments. Also, their offices are 10/10 re: pandemic precautions.
Nice, modern office and nice people. My eye doctor was easy to talk to and she offered many options for my glasses that I hadn’t heard of before to reduce eye strain. I will continue to go here as long as I live in the area.
Overall exam and service was fine for my child. However Dr Barr asked my child if he wanted to see the pictures they had taken of his eye before. When checking out it became clear that seeing those pictures was an extra charge. This was not made clear at the time. Asking my child for a paid service and not making it clear to the adult left a bad taste.
Laughably disorganized and confused. I usually don’t leave bad reviews but I should have heeded others’ advice before coming out to Belmont. Dr Barr was lovely and my eye exam was good but it was the total rigamarole with staff that tested my patience. After I got my exam, staff couldn’t find my insurance on the computer and were going to charge me full because they couldn’t find it. They seemed confused so I waited myself in the office to call the insurance company, who confirmed yes indeed I am covered. Then the staff found my insurance company within their directory (after 2 hours of looking), not before accidentally charging me $54 for someone else’s glasses who was checking out across the office. Annoying but they cancelled it and I was on my way.The process of actually ordering the contacts took 6 phone calls. I called them once and the receptionist responded they needed to talk to Dr Barr first and she was on lunch. OK. They called me back 4 times in the same day and finally confirmed that they were ordered and would arrive in 1.5 weeks.2 weeks go by and no contacts arrive, so I called back only to discover they had never been ordered!! The receptionist apologized, saying they had “a lot of new staff” and it was not their fault because my insurance was not in their database and she needed to call them independently (which I believe is their job). Finally - the contacts arrive a week later but they are the wrong prescription!! Sometimes you just have to laugh. Working with MyEyeDr is like being in the center of an I Love Lucy skit.
Highly recommend Dr. Barr. She was awesome - explained everything, was really nice and thorough. The receptionist was great and helpful figuring out an minor insurance snafu, and Dr. Barrs assistant/technician, Sandy did a great job. The office is very clean as well and they have signs when a chair has been cleared for Covid purposes which I really appreciated.
Recently came in for a routine eye exam and saw Dr. Barr! From the moment I walked in I felt very safe with their new COVID policies. Dr. Barr was very knowledgeable and so helpful throughout my appointment. The tech was also very helpful for making this a speedy appointment. And I left knowing I was going to have a beautiful new pair of glasses thanks to Jennifer’s help- the glasses came in quick and I get many compliments on them!
Wouldn’t recommend. It took them 40 days to give me my glasees
Im a former patient and they wont stop calling me. I decided to switch a locally-owned practice when this office became part of a national chain. A month or so ago, I received a couple robo calls asking me to make an appointment. I ignored them. Some days after that, an employee called me. I explained I had moved on, and assumed that would be the end of it. The very next day, I got a voicemail from another employee. These things happen. Now a week or two later, Ive received another robo call. I called back to say please stop calling me, but no one will answer the phone. So Im resorting to this. There are a lot of locally owned places that would like to have your business and probably wont spam you.
The front desk and other non-medical staff have improved greatly over the past 6 months. I understand and agree with many of the earlier reviewers that there were problems when they switched from Bennett to MyEyeDr, as I too experienced some of the same frustrations. Theyve clearly heard these complaints and are working to be better. During my most recent experience the new manager spent a lot of time with me to help me with broken frames (my error) and to figure out how to get me what I needed without unnecessarily spending more money. She was professional and upbeat despite repeat visits. Ive liked Dr. Maida for my care and think that the front of house is much improved.
Since our beloved Dr. Bennett sold the practice to My Eye Dr, every experience my husband and I have had with this practice has been negative. Im sure the doctors are fine, but communications, front office and reception have been abysmal. Endless waiting on the phone through lengthy, grating recorded messages and relentless marketing. A young male receptionist who I mistook for a robotic voice! A months-long mess up related to new glasses that were ordered. We are taking our business elsewhere.
I had a great experience with Dr. Maida and the staff today. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. I had a very detailed eye exam and they seemed well organized and honest. I’ll definitely stay here with her as my eye doc.
Process was rushed, front staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing and tried to sell me new insurance (I have eye insurance) (One exception: Dr was great). Had no confidence that the right glasses were ordered… but at $130 it was a good deal so I didn’t complain. That is, until I received a bill for $195 because my insurance says I’m above the “age limit of pediatric plan” (I’m 32). Now I know how they got me a deal. Double check everything… or make your life easy and go somewhere else.
If I could give it zero star I would. The only reason why I go back is the doctor and location (Mr. MacBeth is amazing, knowledgeable and the location is close). I am looking for a new eye doctor close to me before I switch, the reason being staff, the front office staff is preoccupied with their cellphones, the do not note down your name correctly, they ask the same questions 3 or 4 times because they are not paying attention. They are unprofessional; when this office was under Bennett eye care, the whole vibe was different. I dont mind repeating, but the worst experience is the attitude. The staff at the desk has the worst young teenage attitude, they act as if they are doing us a favor. I also dont mind if someone is having a bad day, but this is ALL the time, I have not had one good front desk experience after this changed to myeyedr. They need to get rid of the front desk staff, and hire few professional well trained receptionists. My children are overdue for their appointments, but I cringe at the idea of having to call the desk and talking to them. If anyone one knows of a good eye care place around Belmont, please post it here.
I ordered glasses for my son over a month ago, and they are still not in. The first promise date was 1/22/21, but because of a lab error, they had to be remade. The next promise date was 2/8/21. I called today (2/12/21) and was told its still going to be another 5 - 7 business days. Meanwhile, my husband got his glasses in two days from another provider. Im so disappointed with the service, now that Bennett Family Eye Care has become a part of this organization. The doctors are great, but the other service has declined.Update: I was just notified that the glasses are in. Proactive outreach, letting me know about the delays, would have gone a long way to a more positive review.
After joining MyEyeDr the customer service went downhill FAST. I ordered a pair of glasses with clip on sunglasses, and it took me 3 months of calling every single day (sometimes multiple times) before they finally admitted they couldnt actually order these for me. They then proceeded to offer me a refund, which they didnt credit to the right account. Please find somewhere else to purchase glasses, I will not be returning ever again.
The change from Bennet Family eye care to myeyedr has changed drastically the quality of service at this practice. The eye doctors are still the same and provide good care but the eyewear sales quality of service is just unacceptable now whereas it was great before. They didnt get my insurance coverage right even though I told them it didnt seem accurate, so they encouraged me to take advantage of it and order something more expensive... Only to call me a week later telling me that they messed up and charge me for the difference. Then, after a long wait to actually get the glasses, they got scratched very quickly (without even dropping them or anything) compared to my old glasses and they dont want to replace the lens because I didnt get their $25 warranty which they never told me about while buying the glasses.A few ago, when it was still Bennet Family eye care, I dropped and scratched a pair of glasses I had bought there almost a year before and so I was ready to pay for a new lens but they replaced the lens for free because it was part of the included warranty!Im never buying glasses there ever again.
I have been a patient for Dr. Bennett for many years. Ever since they sold the business to MyEyeDoctor, the service has gone downhill in the eyeglass ordering department. The doctors are great, the store is terrible. I ordered nearly $2,500 in glasses last month and I have been treated like a nuisance when I call to find out when they might be in. I called once last week and once this week and both times I was treated disrespectfully. The glasses are delayed, which is to be expected during COVID, but the negative treatment is unnecessary and reflects very poorly on the MyEyeDoctor franchise. I am cancelling my order and will not purchase glasses there again.
Have to agree with previous reviewer, this place used to be great but its really gone down-hill and unfortunately I may have to find new Eye Dr. They billed my insurance incorrectly, it was a huge hassle to correct and they NEVER answer their phones. Had to call 6-times in a single day to talk to someone. I am so confused how service could go downhill so quickly.
UPDATED: Ive gone back to MyEyeDr. Belmont since submitting my previous review, and wanted to come back here to say that they appear to have cleaned up their act. Theyre back to answering the phone, and the service in the eyeglass shop and the optometry side of the office I experienced on my last visit was very good. Stephanie is a wiz with insurance, which I found helpful.I agree with previous reviewers who said this place has gone totally downhill since becoming an outpost of My Eye Dr. Ive actually had great experiences with Dr. Barr and the optical team, and the eyeglasses and contacts Ive bought here have all been great. But now, the service is terrible once youre outside the building. The phone just rings and rings and rings until it cuts you off. Its a tiny place, so where is everyone? Once I get the glasses Ive been waiting on for a couple weeks, Ill be looking for a new place to go.
This business was previously Bennett family eye care and was one of the BEST eye doctors around. The Doctors was great, and the staff used to be professional and courteous. Selling out to “My Eye Doctor” has absolutely ruined this business. Although my very competent doctor is still working at this location the management has entirely crumbled. For THREE weeks the office failed to comprehend how to refill a prescription citing issues with insurance, “computer systems” and even suggesting prescriptions are too hard. After a dozen phone calls to try to get the medication prescribed to me the office became belligerent and the front office receptionist even hung up on me because I bothered her too much. There are no “Office managers” Its not even possible to speak to the doctor for help for a medical issues. I now have to wait a month for another practice to see me to prescribe what is medically necessary and the damage from this is unbelievable. Even calling the “corporate office” for MY eye for help is a sham, no one answers no one exists….. STAY AWAY STAY FAR AWAY!!!
