I have lived in Gilmer for most of my life and Walmart is the store to go to for most of my supplies I need instead of driving 30 minutes to next town. I have never had any issue with Walmart until recently. My minor son was hired on in March 2020. He worked basically a 40 hour work week after schools shut down during the pandemic. We recently found out that my son needed an oral surgery procedure scheduled and could not be put off due to infection in the bone. He was unable to request off days via the online system that Walmart uses and each time he would attempt to discuss with management they were either unavailable or tied up. My husband went to Walmart to speak with a manager to make sure they knew hat our son would not be able to work from 11-20-20 thru 11-23-20. The manager that is over the area my son works in was not there but customer service made contact with another manager on duty to whom my husband spoke with. The women manager took a screen shot of the paperwork for my son to be off and ensured my husband that my son would be taken off the schedule. She said she would give the screen shot to the scheduler Jill to have her remove him for those dates. My son went for surgery on 11-20-20 and was sent home on pain medication and out for remainder of weekend. After 11-23-20 he noticed he did not have a schedule for the upcoming week. He went to Walmart and spoke to his manager LAURA which told him he was terminated due to no call no show. He said I spoke with you regarding need to be off for surgery and my father had spoke with another manger on duty when Laura was not there ensuring everyone that my son would be removed from schedule and apparently was not. I called and spoke with assistant manager which assured me he would investigate and get back with me. Thirty minutes later LAURA my sons Manager calls and tells me that my son should have looked at the schedule on 11-20-20 surgery date and if he was not removed should have called in. I told her why would he do that when your other manager and you knew he had to go for surgery. She said it did not matter If he had surgery and if was on pain medicine he should have made sure he was removed from schedule. I disputed with her regarding the laws that they were given prior notice and it would be there responsibility when notified to follow through. She ultimately told me I should have called in for him if he was sedated. I do not want my son working for people first who do not know the laws for labor rights but it is the principle of them not following through so they put the blame on my son when it was told to us it was taken care of. For one this so called manager has no sympathy and two she doesn’t want to accept responsibility for someone there making a error. I also left out the part where she did not care and two days prior to my son surgery he spoke with LAURA telling her he had to get surgery And her telling him he was asking to much to have that many days off to have surgery and heal. I am mad about the situation and I will keep on fighting to make an example out of Walmart management. They call the shots for what they want not adhering to the laws and regulations and being poor managers at that. If they have done this to my child they have done this to others. I want Walmart to orientate their management and have them learn the laws and regulations. Someone needs to make a stand! Next step higher management up the ladder until I seek legal counsel. I want that no call no show taken off of my son record and we will be done with it.
I still have no progress to my case or answers or how many hours I have no answer

I will never give Wal-Mart another dollar. We bought two phones from Walmart with the intent of getting a rebate gift card. After spending 4 weeks calling and getting run around they ended up stealing the $600 they promised in gift cards. My family of five and I now shop at Target and Costco.
Great Starbucks! Please have some cinnamon available at the register.
Such a wonderful location and great hospitality! Very nice people.
Your DCs bring a lot of truck business but the towns dont have enough parking for them! Sam said, As long as I am alive a truck will have a place to pack. Well, thats what old truckers say. Glad hes not around to see how is now.
