Nate n Als has been doing this for quite some time and theyve managed to perfect it! Craving deli? Stop here and get your fix. Everything on the menu hits the spot from great omelettes to Mazal ball soup. And any sort of sandwich you can imagine. Theyve perfectly adapted to the new reality with a great outdoor setup, outdoor ordering and actually impressive cleaning and disinfecting protocols.
I was craving a good Turkey Club and I was NOT disappointed. Large portion, great taste what more could you ask for. It was solely outside seating when we dined here which didn’t bother me at all. My daughter had the burger and fries which she enjoyed as well. Definitely great sandwich. Staff was friendly and service was pretty quick.
This used to be a great place before COVID. Not so great now.
Great deli experience, theyve got a really nice outdoor seating set up and the staff is nice and helpful. The food was well prepared, hot and fresh. Its right in the heart of glamorous Beverly Hills so expect heart of Beverly Hills prices.
I had the best everything bagel with cream cheese and lox ever!! Presented so nicely with onion, tomato and capers. Toasted and buttered per request.****
Always used to love Nate n Als until now (Sept 24 2021, only sorta semi Covid 19 status). They got 3 out of 5 stars because the food was good & came quickly. Theyre still not allowing any indoor dining, not even with spaced apart seating. They dont (actually I was told she [the owner] doesnt have any plan or idea) know when theyll have indoor seating. After we picked out our own table outside on the sidewalk (where it was too warm & sunny) I eventually realized that I wasnt comfortable sitting where the general public was walking by our table, back & forth, 4-6 inches away from us. The food was fine, nice & fresh. I had the Chef Salad & my husband had the Pastrami Sandwich which were both served very quickly. A very nice & pleasant hostess sat outside to take our order, but the menu was incredibly short, way too abbreviated. We had a choice of only 5 pastries! We come to deli restaurants for the wide variety & usual huge menus to choose from and Nate n Als unfortunately was a disappointment. Realistically I really do not expect Covid 19 to ever go away & if this is how Nate n Als is going to be run from here on out, we wont be returning, instead well go to Miltons or The Hat, each of which are offering theyre full menus with spaced apart indoor seating.
Completely underwhelmed . took my daughter there for Sat lunch. She had chicken salad sandwich, steak fries ; I had the classic Nate/Al corned beef sandwich. split a bowl of matzo ball soup. two tap waters. $51 was expecting a great meal, got a thoroughly mediocre one. soup was flavorless. sandwiches werent good. maybe we were expecting too much because of the history. a few days later, we Yelped a place called Brents deli in Westlake. Blew us away. 10/10 great service, fantastic food. sure Nate and Als is in the heart of Beverly Hills. Who cares? Just very average.
A Beverly Hills institution. I’m glad to see that they aren’t closed post-covid so one could still enjoy some tasty pastrami. You can order ahead online or via phone. You can specify a pick up time online, but if you try to specify a time over the phone, it doesn’t work. Our sandwiches seemed to have been sitting for a while, but the pastrami was still delicious (albeit the bread was a tad soggy). Credit cards are accepted. Street parking. The New Yorker with the coleslaw and Russian dressing is my go-to. The thick cut pastrami is so deliciously fatty and the creaminess of the dressing complements it well. If you like mustard, it adds some needed acidity as you progress into the sandwich. You get an option of a side, and I typically go for the macaroni salad. On my most recent pick up, the sides were missing but at least the pickles were there. You can pick the type of bread, but the standard is double baked rye. You’ll probably enter a food coma if you eat both sandwiches, but it’s well worth it.
The brisket sandwich with Russian dressing was delicious!
20 bucks for a pastrami Reuben that was at least 30% fat. Where’s the quality control, folks? Trim the freakin’ fat please!
The best deli on earth hands down eggs Benedict is fantastic, all the sandwiches are fabulous. The portions a large to the point where you have to unload some meat off the sandwich to get you mouth around it. Good place for star sightings. I’ve seen branden Frazier, Keanu reeves, Sandra bullock, and a few others there. If your in town make it a point to have a meal at Nate and als.
Great for a quick lunch if you work around the area. The outside isn’t the most inviting but trust me once you walk in you’ll love the homey atmosphere with the most friendly waitresses who make you feel like family. I first got four complimentary pickles on my desk while I was choosing my meal. Yum! I got the roast beef sandwich and this is the slim size! It’s portion is more than enough with a nice size of potato salad. Expect to spend $20-30 for a lunch with drink/dessert.Enjoy!
The food was alright. Big portions. I got the Tuna Melt with steak cut fries. My friend got the pastrami with macaroni salad. He loved it. Says its one of the best pastrami sandwiches hes had. Also got a black and white cookie which he liked. Indoor dining was not available so we sat outside where there was no shady option to keep us from direct sunlight. The cashier was friendly and checked on is once. The guy that brought out our food looked upset though. Not a place I would go out of my way to return to.
Nate n Als is an institution! Its old world. Food is fresh and authentic. The only thing Id like to see is to update the decor a little. Its tired, a little dark and doesnt smell the freshest. I know people will disagree with me because they wouldnt want it to change but, If done right, it could stay authentic and still get a refresh...
Classic landmark jewish style deli right in DT Beverly Hills. Pastrami on rye w deli mustard was spot on and brings you back to NYC. Portion size was appropriate, but you can always use more, lets be real. Potato salad had a nice balance of eggyness and not overpowered with mayo. Black and white cookie also super tasty. A little pricy but the location and specialty is worth it. Pastrami here is overall better than other jewish style spots in LA.
Classic, iconic Jewish Deli In the heart of Beverly Hills. Good corned beef and pastrami and fantastic rye bread!
My corned beef sandwich was good, but they only serve outside.
I was looking for a place to have a quick snack at and so glad that I came across Nate n Als. Their food is simple and yet delicious and fresh. The service standards vary depending on who your server is, there is a delightful lady who makes your day with her cheerfulness and then a few guys who seem to just be doing their job and trying to somehow get through their work day.
One of the last remaining 24 Carat Los Angles OG classics. Cant be beaten for taste or service or vibezzzz
Nate n Als is hands down, my favorite eatery for breakfast in Los Angeles. Its great for lunch too, but theres something about that early morning buzz when the regular locals drop by and eat and shmooze and enjoy delicious food.Depending on the time you go, you can either wait a while, or get a table right away. Weekends are definitely busier, but the wait is never too long that you begin to reconsider eating elsewhere.More often than not, I choose the cheese blintzes and a hash brown on the side. Their hash browns are simply THE BEST Ive eaten anywhere ever. Cooked to perfection and always beautifully golden brown and crisp. You can pick anything off their extensive menu: you dont need to worry about ordering chicken soup for breakfast. If you want it, theyll bring it out. Everything Ive ever eaten here is delicious, theres hardly one thing I can recommend over another.I do think theres times where the service can be a bit slow; even getting the bill can take some time. I also think the food is about a dollar or two more expensive than Id like to pay considering what you get, but overall, its usually worth it when youre hungry and then get your food and its everything you imagined a good old fashioned kosher style deli would make. The atmosphere is good in here, and theres even a few celebrity sightings if youre lucky enough (over the years, Ive seen quite a few in here). The interior is a bit dated, but it adds to the old school charm. I highly recommend Nate n Als!!!(PS. A few doors down theres a parking garage with two hours free parking. Especially in the morning its easy to find a parking space without hassle.)
I had possibly one of the best sandwiches of my life here
Always a favorite when in LA. Classic delicatessen with amazing service and food. Highly recommend!
This is my first stop in Beverly Hills when I arrive in the USA. As a person who lived in NYC I can really say what pastrami is, how it has to taste and how pastrami must be. I am maybe one of the only persons on the planet who made his own pastrami day and went to 11 (!!!!) of the most famous pastrami places in nyc. In ONE DAY! if someone on this planet would have told me that the pastrami place in Beverly Hills is beating Katzs, Bens Best and Arties - I would have never believed him. But it is true. Nate and Al is not fancy because it is in Beverly Hills. It is the best because they offer the best pastrami on planet earth, authentic location, extremely nice service and fair pricing. Never miss going to Nate and Al when you are in Beverly Hills.
Classic deli in Beverly Hills, service was good. I think delis have very basic food, but they do well with selections.
An LA Classic Eatery in the same location for, like, 150 years! 🤣 They have a very well designed setup for pickup of to-go and phone orders. Very impressive. This time I had the Beverly, a huge, delicious sandwich of pastrami, corned beef, swiss cheese, coleslaw, Russian dressing, on Rye Bread. Im usually a traditionalist of Pastrami On Rye w/Deli Mustard, but this may be my new go-to sandwich. Its big enough to share - but I ate the whole thing!
Amazing! Like being at a New York Kosher deli, but friendly with perfect weather. If I lived near here, I would have a problem.
Best Rueben in town! Not to mention the Corn Beef is incredible! Along with the Brisket. Super easy to pick up!
Steak fries great. Sandwiches were fresh. Maconroni salad was delicious. Highly recommended
What’s not to love. Been going here for years. Love it.
Beverly Hills Classic, many people like it. Personally I prefer the Nosh from food quality.
Good food but way over priced
Prices are a little high, but it is Beverly Hills. The food & menu choices are more varied & higher quality at The Nosh, but Nate n Als is open later!
Food was only ok. Server was not attentive at all (brought food and drinks, then never returned). I had to find a busser to refill my coffee and a to go box. Typical over priced L.A. type of place.
My first time to Beverly Hills and I happened to be there on Valentines Day, alone.....lol. They made me feel comfortable and after eating, I ordered cabbage rolls to take with me. Wow! Exactly like my mother makes. Excellent....😋
Amazing kosher deli. Huge sandwiches.
Always fun to go to an establishment like Nate and Als
Ordered online and came here for pick-up!The sandwich was really tasty! Worth to visit again.
Sat outside and the food and service was great!!!
Had dinner there with my girlfriend she had the reubin sandwich I had the roast beef on wheat delicious
Great Breakfast... 😊
This is nostalgic! Homey vibes and they serve great food that youll surely love.
Good sandwiches. Good serviceOne of our favorite eaterys in Beverly Hills.
Great sidewalk eating a tables
Good deli style sandwiches. Very good mustard. Had an amazing brisket sandwich on rye bread with a cherry soda. The barb b que sauce was tantalizing scintillating on the palette.
Not long ago Gloria Leon was presented The Golden Bagel Award by Famous Talent Agent and 60 year custumer who knows his Restaurants! Richard deGrandcourt former share dinner partner with Al Mendelson during the Share tables because of the crowds, Lew Wasserman, Casey, Marvin Davis Lee Solters Gregg Garrison And the Famous Frank Sinatra #2nd. after giving Lee Solters some Ideas, he treated me to a 1/2 Chefs salad, my favorite chopped, turkey no ham. Then Lew Wasserman and my friend Ben Silberstien always left $100.00 tip for Kay Coleman the Best Server and hostess.
Im from Boston and Im Jewish, so I been to a few delis before here. I dont know, but A Beverly Hills Deli blows any deli I been to in NYC or Boston totally out of the water.
Nice place
During the covid, they don’t serve fresh food. The cold slaw was very old & didn’t taste good. Very disappointed
A hopping place but we didn’t have to wait too long. Fun to look in the deli case. Got a seat outside with pretty prompt service. Good sandwiches on rye with potato and macaroni salad. Pickles are also something to ask for if they don’t bring them.
Traveled very far to get chopped chicken liver sandwich. Not as good as my mom’s or grandma’s but That was 75 years ago and definitely next best. Delicious. Pickle was even the best. Just wonderful memories. The only thing missing was the sound of my mom making it. Thanks for the memories, Nate n Al! As for the review that it’s heavy food, Ashkenazi food IS heavy. Mmm!
I went as a tourist - I could tell though that as well known as this place is online, most of the customers are locals. When you see a bunch of grandparents with their family you know its a good place lol. I got the Naten Al sandwich and the pastrami was delicious! I got a half but it was so big I couldnt finish it. The hot dogs were great as well, the chili was really good. My personal favorite though was the side macaroni salad.
Excellent Hot Pastrami, Rye toast, Matza Ball Soup, condiments for my Hannukah dinner. Take away only
Oh dear. Deli staff just as you would expect them to be in a busy deli and friendly in there own way. Food not West coast at all. Asked for a simple two egg omelette and got what must have been at least a five egg version with glue all over it which turned out to be fake cheese. Almost inedible. Pity because it is a great location.
Unfortunately alcohol is forbidden on the patio but I imagine thats an issue with the city/state rather than the Deli. We had a fantastic server named Ricardo. Its one of those places that you can understand why theyre famous (and have been around for so long). Towering delicious and difficult (in the best way) pastrami sandwiches and amazing smoked salmon. Definitely one of the most worthwhile places in Beverly Hills.
The Best place
Great food, and still open during covid. Not much of outdoor seating but it exists.
This place is just average to me. Ive found other delis that are much better. However, I do have a high standard when it comes to delis since I come from New York.I cant honestly recommended this place.
Great place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Everything on the menu is amazing, you cant go wrong. The only problem is it is always crowded. But that is because it is so GOOD!
The food is outstanding and the service is top notch. Amy is a wonderful waitress who has been there over 20 years. I love going there every time I visit.
I’ve never eaten Jewish food before. My understanding of it as a concept is limited to passing references in Big Bang theory and Seinfeld. I was pleasantly surprised when i experiences the delights of this deli. The whole establishment seemed filled with grumpy old people (always a positive sign) and someone actually yelled in Yiddish while I was there (always positive for authenticity).
New owners remove all the complimentary reviews. Smaller portions and you get4 pickle slices and if you want more $2.95. Not another first rate deli in the world charges for more pickles. Go elsewhere. They will close. A deli needs to be generous
If youre craving a good deli, this is the place. Its been in business for 70 years which is amazing and doesnt happen very often in Los Angeles. Portions are huge. Sandwiches are massive. Service is great. Oh, the pickles are just what you need to go with your deli meal.
Ive always liked Naten Al. I had bad experience about 4 years ago. The server was unbearable and would never come to our table, completely forget about us. Following that experience, I gave Naten Al a two year break. No matter how much I loved Naten Al, I wasnt going to put myself through that again. Finally, a little more than two years following the bad service, a friend and I returned. The service was great and the food was good as its always been. The corned beef and pastrami are so good! Their matzo ball soup is really good too!
The BEST, BEST, BEST deli in LA. The sandwiches are to die for. The matzo ball soup is MAGIC. Itll cure anything that ails you. A lot of the wait staff have been there for years, so its great to develop your favorite to take care of your needs. Be prepared for Beverly Hills prices but considering the quality and quantity, its well worth it. A good place to catch a celebrity grabbing a nosh.
If youre looking for a nostalgic diner type restaurant with a delicatessen inside, cozy booths and fairly good service then youll want to stop into this deli that is a classic in Beverly hills since 1945. The service was good my corned beef sandwich and onion rings were great however we took home a piece of the New York cheesecake and it was a little below par. The really interesting thing is that it was packed when we got there at 6 and stayed busy until almost 9 p.m. which is what time it closes.its a casual place and there were all ages from children to Grandma and Grandpa!
If you are throwing caution to the winds, and ready to embrace sugar and fat, this old school Jewish deli will make you happy. Its a pretty classic Jewish deli menu. I cant tell you much about most of it, because I always get the pastrami sandwich which is first rate. The wait staff is friendly and helpful and a few of them are real characters in a good way.I believe there are some menu choices for the health conscious and even vegans these days --But honestly, if thats your lifestyle, what the hell are you doing HERE lol!?
Always friendly and if go a bit past rush hours you will not have to wait. Its also open into the late evening. It is without exception the best deli restaurant in the city. The breakfasts are terrific, prepared with skill and the sandwiches are outstanding. You will never feel pressure and they will adapt to what you want. Its a city landmark!
MATZO BOWL...LOVE IT!! IM NOT EVEN JEWISH..HEY ITS A FREEDOM OF RELIGION COUNTRY ...GOTTA HAVE THE MATZO BOWL SOUP..PICKLES...CRISP BAGEL..... THATS ALL THE GREAT ORDER..RIGHT THERE IS A WHOLE MEAL!!! BUT THE PLACE... WARM ATMOSPHERE... THE PLACE IS LIKE EVERYONE KNOWS YOUR NAME..PEOPLE KNOW PEOPLE..CLOSE KNIT FAMILY FRIENDS... ALIKE PLACE...JUST BEST BE THERE BEFORE PEOPLE LINE UP TO WAIT...THAT TELLS YA ..PLACE IS GREAT TO EAT IN..PEOPLE WAIT.. JUST TO GET IN
The chicken salad and potatoes salad were so sweet I didnt even eat half of it. The Chicken Soup cup of soup was like a tea cup with just noodles and broth. Never going back there again.
Excellent corned beef and pastrami sandwich! Well, meat, bread, cheese, slaw excellent. But I had to reconstruct the sandwich because it had a big RIDICULOUS looking big ball of meatier the center. Made the center twice as thick as distributed result after re stacking. Reminded me of prepackaged sandwiches at a gas station trying to look well filled. Thats a shame because the sandwich re stacked into awesomeness. They make the Pastrami, Corned Beef and bake the bread.
Honestly i dont know whats the big deal about this place, I had a matzo soup and a new york sandwichAnd I was very very disappointed just because of the reviews. If you like soup with a big piece of flavorless dough in the middle you might want to get that then
Great sandwich.
Adriana, great waitress. Great healthy, fresh food and typical NY Deli restaurant atmosphere and seating. One of the best in BH area!
Old style New York - Jewish delicatessen in the heart of Beverly Hills. This is establishment has been there forever. The wait staff is also been there forever. There are regulars that come here and have their own tables or booths. Its a loud, raucous place. Services typically good. If Deli is your thing this is the place for you. I typically dont eat there I get stuff from the the deli itself and take it home. Good pastrami, corned beef, chopped chicken liver and bagels and rye bread.
This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. When we requested sauce for our onion rings, the waitress did not stop walking or even look at us (she did hear because she did bring the dip). Our waitress did not check on us and the busboy did not ask if we were finished before clearing our plates. I wish I could say the food was good but our sandwiches were exceptionally average. I have no idea how this place has such good reviews. Avoid!
One street over from world famous Rodeo drive is a LA institution, the closest you will get to NYC on the West Coast: Naten Al.This little place has been serving up the good since the 1940s and is a fantastic choice for breakfast or lunch. They say that several A-Listers come to the spot frequently including Larry King, but you may not recognize them in a hat and glasses. On a recent visit we found a 20 minute wait and opted to sit outside. The waitress was friendly and attentive, while the host got us our drinks. Coke comes in a can here, the old fashion way.The omelet was incredible, as was the onion bagel. Prices were fair to average. Portions were fine. Coffee came quick and so did the refills. We were treated right, and tried our best not to stand out as tourists as it was obvious that most of the people were were locals or regulars.Down to the pickles and sandwiches this place was 100% authentic NYC style Jewish deli. I cant wait to go back.
Felt like I was back in New York. Great deli. Food was delicious and wait staff attentive. No waiting. Clean!! Eat here!!
The most famous and perhaps the best Deli in Beverly Hills. Extensive menu - warm friendly service - and just an experience not to be missed. Cant go wrong with the Lox and Bagel platter - go !
Sooooooooo good
This place is always great to go. The food is good and the staff is always having fun. Michelle is one of the best waitresses there. Very friendly, efficient and accommodating. Go there if you want a great meal and a fun time!
Perhaps the oldest restaurant in Beverly Hills. Its surrounded by so many ultra-luxurious shops and restaurants, but Naten Als is casual and inviting to all. They have practically the same vibe and food choices as most of the other Jewish delis in LA. Its not cheap but not expensive for Beverly Hills.
